Naruto Quest: The Endless War of the Shinobi Empires (AU, Rinnegan MC)

[X] Naraka Path (Rank 1 to Rank 2)
-[X] Touch

The human path is actually pretty tempting, we used Gates in pretty much every encounter so far. Still, perfect glamour and improvement to our other bread and butter ability is solid enough. Rank 3 Naraka is also pretty brutal by all appearances, so maybe we should rush getting that.

To those voting Naraka, this is my bad, but would you also mind editing your post (or just posting a new thing) to choose which genjutsu sense you'll be resistant in? You currently have immunity to sight and resistance to sound. No, you can't double up for a further resistance.

So your choices are touch, smell, and taste.

Internal Kung Fu:
Dragon Style:

One of the five elemental martial arts, the Dragon Style allows the user to manipulate earth. This style has amazing versatility as earth is one of the most common elements. However, this style is unsuited for indoors and tends to be destructive to the landscape.
Mastery Level: Skilled.

Dragon Style: Dragon's Stomp:
The user focuses their chi into their foot and stomps the ground, either causing a small earthquake to disorient foes, or to sent rock and rubble at a foe.
Chi Use: Medium.

Dragon Style: Great Earth Wall:
The user makes a thick, powerful wall of earth in front of them that can defend against attacks.
Chi Use: High.

Dragon Style: Rock Blast:
The user makes multiple chunks of rock float around them, then fires them at an opponent. This technique has a high rate of fire.
Chi Use: Low, but this is only for one deployment of the technique.

Dragon Style: The Antlion's Trap:
A powerful technique where the user makes a large sinkhole in the earth, breaking up the ground and making it difficult to traverse on, as it now has the consistency of loose gravel and sand. From the center of the sinkhole, the user can make it spout up earth and rocks to pummel the opponent with, or make it deeper to make it more difficult to escape.
Chi Use: High, and requires upkeep.

Phoenix Style:
One of the five elemental martial arts, the Phoenix Style allows the user to manipulate fire. Natural flame is often hard to come by, so most techniques will create flame from an external source, usually the body heat of the user, but sometimes the heat from a very dry area.
Mastery Level: Skilled.

Phoenix Style: Dragon's Tongue:
The user unleashes a long bolt of flame from their fist. This flame can be made longer and wider at the cost of extra chi.
Chi use: Medium at the minimum, and requires upkeep.

Phoenix Style: Flaming Body Shot:
The user building up a flaming shroud around them, and then attacks an opponent by thrusting at them, unleashing the fire in a large fireball.
Chi Use: Medium.

Phoenix Style: Flash Paper:
A simple yet effective technique, the user opens their hand and unleashed a bright fireball that quickly explodes. This is used to blind a foe that gets too close, or for starting a fire.
Chi Use: Minimal.

Phoenix Style: Scatter Shot:
The user forms multiple bullets of fire from their body heat and shoots it at the opponent. While weak, the many bullets of flame are widespread.
Chi Use: Low.

Qilin Style:
One of the five elemental martial arts, the Qilin Style allows the user to manipulate wood. Plantlife is not hard to come by in the outdoors, making it easy to manipulate both them and the air without expending much chi. The effectiveness of Qilin Style users is hampered in barren areas and indoors.
Mastery Level: Skilled.

Qilin Style: Bamboo Trap:
The user uses their chi to manipulate wood into sharp, wooden stakes that look like bamboo to skewer the foe with.
Chi Use: Medium.

Qilin Style: Bark Shrapnel:
While near a tree, the user can make the tree shatter into thousands of stakes of wood that fly at the opponent. While the user can shatter multiple trees at once for this technique, it takes a lot of chi to do so.
Chi Use: Medium at the minimum.

Qilin Style: Gentle Zephyr:
The user uses their chi to manipulate the air around them, making it blow to aid their movements. Jiao uses this to increase her speed when flying, if needed.
Chi Use: Low, but requires upkeep.

Qilin Style: Nature's Grasp:
The user controls wood around them to wrap itself around a foe, restraining them. This is most commonly used by wrapping up the legs of an opponent using underground roots.
Chi Use: Low at the minium.

Telekinesis:
Jiao can move objects using her Yang-enhanced mind. Her exceptional control can allow her to lift objects many times her size or multiple things at once.
Chi Use: Varies.

Telekinetic Blast:
Jiao fires out a blast of telekinetic energy that can knock foes back. Jiao can use this technique multiple times in a row.
Chi Use: Low.

Telekinetic Shield:
Jiao creates a wall of telekinetic energy in front of her to block attacks. The strength of the shield is dependent on her concentration.
Chi Use: Varies.

Tiger Style:
One of the five elemental martial arts, the Tiger Style allows the user to manipulate metal. Because of the scarcity of metal in comparison to the other five elements, Tiger Style users are often seen with weapons and favor fighting indoors.
Mastery Level: Skilled.

Tiger Style: Invisible Hand:
This technique uses chi to pull on the metal of any weapons an opponent may be wielding. This is a very useful technique that easily allows a metal user to disarm enemies.
Chi Use: Low.

Tiger Style: Metal Repulse:
This technique uses chi to repel metal that is near the user's body, allowing them to push back attacks from weapons or, if their timing is good, projectiles.
Chi Use: Low.

Tiger Style: Shatter:
A simple technique that enables the user to break any metal object. More focus and chi is needed to break larger objects.
Chi Use: Low at the minimum.

Tiger Style: Tiger Claws:
The user uses chi to wrap metal around their fingers, turning them into sharp claws. These claws can vary depending how the user manipulates them, from hooked claws to piercing drills.
Chi Use: Low

Tortoise Style:
One of the five elemental martial arts, the Tortoise Style allows the user to manipulate water. Water is usually plentiful enough so the the user doesn't have to make a source, but most users carry around some water they can use at any time in case of an emergency.
Mastery Level: Skilled.

Tortoise Style: Bite of the Whip:
The user manipulates water around their arms with chi, creating long tendrils of water that can be used to whip opponents or grasp far away objects.
Chi Use: Low.

Tortoise Style: Crashing Waves:
The user manipulates a source of water to rise into the air and then crash back down, much like an ocean's wave. The amount of power the wave has depends how much water the user can manipulate it and how large the source is.
Chi Use: Medium at the minimum.

Tortoise Style: Water Hurricane:
The user forms a spinning cyclone of water around themselves, both as a defense and an attack.
Chi Use: Medium.

Tortoise Style: Water Snake Strike:
Using a liquid in their mouth, normally drinking water or saliva, the user spits it out then uses their chi to manipulate it, forming it into a bullet of water. While sneaky, the damage this technique can cause is quite low, but some cunning users aim for their opponent's eyes in an attempt to temporarily blind them.
Chi Use: Minimal.

External Kung Fu:
Monkey Style:

This tricky style of kung fu focuses on dodging attacks and confusing the opponent, striking only when their defenses are wide open. Jiao only uses this style if she is forced into unarmed close combat and only has the mere basics down, making it a last line of defense for her.

[X] Naraka Path (Rank 1 to Rank 2)
-[X] Touch

As soon as Raksha's finger left your head, you felt a rush of power, starting from your eyes and flowing into your entire body. You felt alert and awake, over all feeling so much better. You looked up at Raksha with a grin and happily said, "Thank you."

Raksha took a large step back, you could feel the ground vibrating as he did so. The 'sky' of the blank, white void suddenly gained a subtle golden tone, as if it was the beginning of dawn. Raksha looked upward, a smile on all three of his faces. "Look, my chosen. The sky is returning. If you destroy more effigies, more of this realm will come back."

"Come back? What happened to it?" you curiously asked.

"My realm is colored by the natural balance of the universe. When properly balanced, it looks like the most lavish paradise you can think of." Raksha explained, making grand, sweeping gestures towards the sky. "However, demonic beings are rampant in your world, they bring nothingness and oblivion." Raksha shook his three heads sorrowfully and took a deep breath before continuing, "Such is why this realm was blank. It represented the destruction and perversion of nature demons brought. But you have stopped a major flow of dark energy, letting the beauty shine through once more!"

"I see. Does that mean I have to defeat the Tailed Beasts as well? That's...a lot more to ask for." you grimly said, looking right into Raksha's tiger eyes, waiting for his answer.

"No, of course not, my chosen. You just need to break the effigies scattered around Jihopan. That should weaken the demonic influence infecting this realm and finally allow me to extend a helping hand to humanity." Raksha grandly said. "Now, it is time for you to awaken..."

"But..." you began, but Raksha faded away and everything went dark...

---

When you awoke, the first thing you noticed was your injured foot. Swearing and cursing in pain, you sat up and clutched at it until the waves of pain reached a reasonable point. You looked around the destroyed room for a few moments before grudgingly getting to your feet and doing your best to ignore the pain. You gingerly limped all the way down to the prison basement. Thankfully, you saw Jiao still wrapped in the concrete bindings you made, but you noticed she was wide awake now.

"YOU!" she cried out, her eyes narrowing in rage. You could see a vein bulge in her temple and you felt...some invisible force lightly gripping your body and trying to throw you upwards, but unlike last time, it was incredibly weak. In fact all it did was lift you about a centimetre off the ground. You hissed in pain, even such a tiny height really put the pressure on your foot.

"Ow! Stop that!" you shouted, limping over to Jiao before flopping down onto the cold, concrete floor. It hurt, but having the pressure off your foot was much more relieving.

"This is disgraceful! I am the Princess of the Wu-Yun! Release me at once, scum!" Jiao haughtily ordered, a sneer of disgust evident on her face. She was powerless at this moment and yet she still had to ego to make demands? What a...spirited woman.

"Now, now, let's talk first, okay?" you sighed, the sense of renewed energy now draining out of you at a rapid rate.

"I should I talk to a mongrel? Know your place, peasant!" Jiao spat almost literally. She writhed around as hard as she could, but she wasn't some freak like Kaitaikojo, that concrete held her down nice and firm.

Okay forget spirited, she's just a bitch. But you kept that thought to yourself, no pointing in poking the bear. Even if said bear is trapped in concrete. "I didn't wanna wrap you up and stuff, but a girl's gotta defend herself, you know? You can understand that, right?"

"How dare you speak down to me like I am some lowly girl! I am a princess!" Jiao shouted.

"Well excuuuuuse me, Princess." you sarcastically replied, rolling your eyes.

"That's better!" Jiao smugly said, her face turning into a small grin. Either she was ignoring your clear sarcasm, or she was so egotistical that she thought you were bowing to her demands of respect.

"Alright then, Princess it is. As you can see, I'm not trying to hurt you. In fact, Dragon and I are trying to help all the women captured here." you calmly explained, trying not to trigger another haughty outburst.

"Hmph...! I...suppose you may be correct. You did merely capture me, those barbarians from before drugged me to stop my royal wrath!" Jiao seethed through gritted teeth. If looks could kill, then those yakuza would have been killed five times over! "So what is it you plan on doing with those women? What of me?"

"Well Dragon is going to message the Mist Empire to come and arrest the yakuza we defeated and bring the women back home, or at least to a place where they can get help. As for you, I can tell you're no simple woman who got caught. Those bastards must have gotten the drop on you!" you declared, intentionally buttering up Jiao.

"Maybe you aren't as dumb as I thought you were. Yes, I was leading my ship towards these savage lands and some lowly pirates used some form of powerful chi bending I have not seen to capsize my ship! All my men were either picked off or drowned in the waters, but they hauled me up and said 'I'd make a pretty ryo.'" Jiao explained, looking so disgusted that you could almost taste it.

"That's super gross! They said they drugged you, right?" you asked, continuing the conversation. You wanted to know what happened and Jiao derailing the conversation would be...annoying.

"Yes! Some woman who could turn her body into water forced me to ingest part of her, disgusting!" Jiao retched, shuddering in utter revulsion. After Jiao managed to recover, she continued. "After that, they tied me up and I was...reduced to the sight you see now."

"When Dragon and I walked in, you thought we were part of the Kyogoku Group. That makes sense. Sorry about that." you finished, nodding in understanding.

"If you were truly sorry, then you'd have released me by now, you worm!" Jiao suddenly shouted with a shrill voice, making you jump in fright.

"Well, alright. But what will you do when I release you?" you gently asked after calming down a bit.

For once, Jiao didn't seem to have an answer. She opened her mouth to say something, but apparently she thought better of it and closed her mouth. After a long moment of deliberation, Jiao simply replied, "I do not know."

Now was the time to strike! If you played your cards right, you could put the idea in Jiao's head to join you! She might be bitchy, but from what little you've seen, she could be an amazing ally!

Of course...Jiao seems completely out of her depth right now. She's strong, but she's naive in how Jihopan works. She was almost sold off into slavery if she was lucky...and most likely something even worse otherwise. Perhaps you should suggest she goes home?

What will you say?

[] Tell Jiao about your goal of stopping the endless war in Jihopan and how her help would be vital in shaping how the future will turn out.

[] Tell Jiao that she should return home. Maybe you shouldn't talk with your inexperience, but you know Jiao will only be one more casualty.

[] It would be...rude to force such a big choice on Jiao right now. Instead, offer to bring her to your hotel room to get a hot bath and some proper rest.

- [X] Tell Jiao about our goal to cease the savage nature of Jihopan, and how only a stunning grace such as her could tame the unruly nature of it with her noble presence. We'd be helpless without the assistance of such a clearly respectable and superior authority by our side to bestow their kind aid to one as low as us in order to end the constant warring and shaping the future.

Well, we know she loves praises. It's time to simp lads, simp like you've never simped before

We could like, I dunno, ask her what she herself wants after she's rested and calmed down more. Give her options and get her opinion.

Winning Vote: [X] It would be...rude to force such a big choice on Jiao right now. Instead, offer to bring her to your hotel room to get a hot bath and some proper rest.

You wanted to tell Jiao of your plan of saving Jihopan, but you thought better of it for now. She did just escape from a harrowing situation after all, perhaps she would appreciate a nice bath and a good place to sleep. You took off your mask, showing Jiao your face as you gently said, "That answer can wait for a bit. I have a room at a really nice inn that I'm staying that, how about we go there and you treat yourself to a bath and some rest."

Jiao's face softened for a moment as she considered your offer. After a short moment, she took a deep breath and replied with her usual haughty tone, "I can't imagine whatever hovel you call home compares to the beautiful estate I live in, but I accept your offer."

"Alright. Let's get out of here." you muttered, making a hand seal with one hand and placing another on the concrete trapping her. After a bit of focus, the concrete crumbled into pieces, freeing Jiao. She slowly rose to her feet and you were ready for her to spit more words or perhaps even attack you, but she merely gave you a curious glance, as if she didn't quite know what to think of you.

"Better than getting a boot to the head, at least..." you thought. You got up to your feet, trying your best to ignore the pain in your foot and followed Jiao upstairs. When the two of you went outside of the building, you saw Tenryu putting the finishing touches on tying up the yakuza. He looked up at you, but tilted his head in confusion upon seeing that you weren't wearing your mask anymore.

"Blanky! Your mask!" Tenryu whispered as loud as he could.

"It's fine, Dragon. Everyone here is knocked out anyway," you replied with a casual shrug.

"That is fair, but...oh well, whatever!" Tenryu cheerily said. He then turned his attention to Jiao. "So, you gonna play nice?"

"Do not speak to me, insolent worm! Only...Blanky here is honored enough to talk freely with me!" Jiao growled, clenching her fists.

"My name's Maya." you stated.

"For all I care your name is Mud! Now, get me off this horrid island and to the promised bath!" Jiao demanded, not unlike a spoiled, if well spoken, child.

"So. Uh...playing nice?" Tenryu repeated, unsure of what was going on.

"She will, like I said, I'll handle it from here. We're going to go back to my place to lick our wounds and rest." you explained bluntly. "You send the message to the Mist?"

"Yeah, they'll be here soon. C'mon, let's go!" Tenryu excitedly exclaimed.

"Maya, please sew this talking monkey's mouth shut!" Jiao complained, even stomping her foot on the ground.

"...I just wanna go to bed." you moaned in despair.

---

It was a tight squeeze on the small fishing boat between you, Tenryu, and Jiao. Which is why Jiao was quick to literally boot Tenryu off the boat, dunking him in the cold sea. Tenryu didn't seem to take it personally and merely walked on the ocean alongside the boat. Of course, Jiao refused to help row, so the grueling activity fell onto you. There was little conversation during the trip home, Jiao simply couldn't tolerate Tenryu and every time he spoke she sent sharp vocal jabs his way, eventually he took the hint and stayed quiet.

Thankfully, the sea was calm tonight and the water was smooth. After a few hours you managed to reach the harbor. After tying up the boat to a small wooden dock on the far side of the harbor, you, Jiao, and Tenryu stood on the sturdy concrete. There was a long silence between the three of you, only the sounds of the ocean filling the air.

"So...Tenryu. Job well done?" you asked cautiously, looking at the Mist jonin.

"Indeed!" he replied, taking off his mask. "Alright, I better get home now, Maki is probably gonna give me the business the second I step through the door..."

"Alright. Good luck Tenryu!" you said with a smile.

"Thanks! Later, Maya! And see ya, Jiao!" Tenryu said, quickly slipping in that last part before vanishing in a puff of smoke.

"The gall of that horrid beast!" Jiao seethed. "Whatever! Maya, lead me to this promised inn of yours!"

"Alright, alright..." you muttered, walking away from the harbor with Jiao in tow. If Jiao held any interest in the new environment she was in, she certainly didn't show it. All she did the whole time was complain that you were taking too long, how the buildings in Tiger looked so much better and greater, and how her estate would have carried her to her location. You were rather tired, so you were easily able to tune her out until you reached the inn.

Entering the inn, you went to the front desk and looked at the grouchy looking owner, a man with a thick beard and eyebrows. He crossed his arms as he eyed Jiao standing behind you. "Got a guest?"

"Yeah. That okay?" you asked tiredly.

"I don't care, Byakuren is paying me good money to keep you here. Do whatever you want, just don't trash the room." the owner grunted.

"Good. Can you send up a few first aid kits and something warm to eat? Enough for two people to eat, anything is fine. Except for mangoes." you politely requested.

"Hmph, most of the other employees went home, you got me as a cook. It's probably gonna be canned soup, you sure?" the owner replied, raising an eyebrow.

"Sounds great."

"Alright. Here..." he said, reaching underneath the desk and handing you three first aid kits. You awkwardly collected them, hugging them tightly to keep them from falling, giving up my notion that Jiao would help you. You slowly walked up to the second floor of the inn and reached your room, Jiao opening the door for you, but not out of any sense of politeness, but from desperately wanting to take a bath. She ran into the room, slamming the door in your face and making you drop all the medical supplies, but thankfully the cases didn't break open. You grumbled in annoyance and opened the door, throwing the first aid kits onto the large bed. You sat on the bed and opened a kit, finding some ointment for burns and began applying a generous amount of it over your foot.

"Ah..." you sighed in relief as the cold medicine began to soothe your burns. You sighed and let your mind wander until your food came, some poor sap who was working overnight delivering two bowls of chicken and noodle soup with a side of bread rolls and crackers. It wouldn't be much, but having some proper food in your belly would feel fantastic.

You placed Jiao's food on a desk and began to chow down, warmth and energy flowing through your body. Soon enough you finished eating and laid down, the softness of the bed sucking you into a swift slumber...

Which almost was interrupted as Jiao opened the bathroom door, coming out in a plush bathrobe. You raised your head weakly and before you could say anything, Jiao made a motion with her hand and you felt an invisible force suddenly push you off the bed and onto the floor!

"Ow..." you groaned, laying face down on the clean, wooden floor.

"I don't know how you got the idea that you would use the bed, but I am putting to bed that silly notion now!" Jiao commanded.

"But it's my rooooooom!" you whined, rolling onto your back and looking up at Jiao.

"I do not care! You may sleep on the floor. Or preferably in the bathroom so I can have my privacy!" Jiao said, giving you a domineering sneer. At this point, you would argue, but you were so tired that you didn't quite care about Jiao's attitude. You gave an exhausted grunt and lowered your head, closing your eyes, going to sleep as Jiao's complaints of the soup became more and more quiet...

---

Your eyes slowly opened at the crack of dawn. Your back was stiff from sleeping on the floor, but overall you felt alright! Jiao had used the other two kits to tend to her injuries, as a bunch of supplies were scattered across the ground, used or empty. You thankfully found an unmarred roll of bandages and the burn ointment you had used last night and limped to the closet, taking a fresh outfit before heading to the bathroom.

After one long and refreshing shower, you put more ointment on your foot then wrapped it up before putting on the new clothes. It was one of Anzu's old dresses she gave to you before you left, a nice light blue sundress that went to your shins, a pair of sandals, and finally a nice sunhat. You didn't imagine you'd see much sun with the almost constant fog of the Mist Empire, but you'd wanted to complete the set!

You left the bathroom and saw that Jiao was still sleeping. No doubt she was, she did have a really rough time of it. But now you had to decide what you'd do today!

Well?

[] Go meet with Kimimaro. Go see how your favorite bone boy is doing!

[] Go find Tenryu. You want to see how he's doing, and if the Mist actually rescued the women...

[] Wait until Jiao awakens, then spend the day with her. She's...demanding but you do want to get to know her!

[] Ask for a meeting with Hiricho. Perhaps this time you'll give a request he won't go frothing mad over. Hopefully.

[] Perhaps you should go to Byakuren. You are getting info for him after all, news about the Kyogoku Group sounds pretty important!

[] You feel like you need to prepare for battles ahead! Time for some training!

-[X] Inform Jiao we can get her registered with the Mizukage Byakuren. We can give a report on the Kyogoku Group while there

As much as I'd like to visit our favorite bone boy, if Jiao decides to roam around by herself, she could easily get into trouble. Heck, she could get into trouble even after we register her, but it would be irresponsible not to do so first.

If Jiao still acts extremely rude to Byakuren even after we inform her who he is, she has to learn immediately that open provocation is unacceptable.
