Naruto Quest: The Endless War of the Shinobi Empires (AU, Rinnegan MC)

So it's a perfect split between accepting Raksha's offer, and declining Raksha's offer. (Also a perfect split between hand seals vs genjutsu)

Usually I'd just coin flip to break the tie, but this has lasting plot consequences so, gonna leave a notice here for some sort of tie break.

If this drags on for too long feel free to use my double vote on here.

[X] Decline Raksha's offer. This is too weird, some crazy tiger giant offering you power? Sounds like a trap to you.
[X] Genjutsu.

"Fine, I'll, help." you decided, putting your hand in the palm of Raksha's massive one. Raksha's face curled into a smile, as much as one a tiger could manage anyway, as he gently closed his hand around yours.

"Thank you, my chosen. I knew you would be the right choice." Raksha said, pulling back his arm. "Now I feel much more comfortable to tell you my own goals."

"Yeah, I'm pretty curious a being like you could want with me." you said.

"It's simple. Much like you, I cannot bear to see war and chaos reign. But this goes beyond mere humanity, this has to deal with the demonic spawn of the lower realms. Many centuries ago, even before the age you call the Demontorn Era, the Asura, beings like me, were the divine protectors of humanity, selflessly battling against the demonic horde." Raksha began, never breaking eye contact with you. "After sealing away the last of the demons, the men chosen by divinity grew proud, demanding for humanity to grow by itself. We of the divine complied, and the barriers between dimensions grew more powerful which leads us into the current era."

"What happened next?" you asked, enthralled with the story, with a worm of rationality and reason wriggling in the back of your head to keep yourself from getting too charmed.

"Sadly, humanity's vice overcame its virtue. Their negativity and sins built up and weakened the barrier between the demonic realms and the human realm. We divinity could do nothing but watch helplessly. We were not there to help those we promised to defend. We were not there to seal the demonic essence poisoning the realms. And this goes into the current state of your world."

Raksha adjusted himself, taking a deep breath with all three heads before continuing. "Endless war, humanity being unable to naturally pass on, evil reigning...this is all from the strife demons radiate. You humans did your best to deal with the threats, but demons still run around the world in the form of the Bijuu."

"Unable to naturally pass on? What do you mean by that?" you asked.

"In generations past, humans grew old and died. It was the natural state of the world, and I can only point to the demons as the ones who lead your world into this cursed existence where everyone has stopped aging after a certain point." Raksha answered bluntly.

"Huh, weird..." you muttered. "Anyway, sorry, go on."

"Very well. Now that you know the story, I can tell you how these demons continue to infect your world. Scattered throughout the lands are these relics that were infused with demonic energy one way or the other and what we need to do is destroy them. I've only found a scant few so far, but as you get rid of them, their energies will be much easier to locate."

Raksha extended his hand and opened it up, revealing a small figurine of an odd shaped statue with large eyes, a thin waist, and even larger hips with short stubby arms and legs. "This is the first relic I can sense near your general area.. In the past, the natives of what you call the Mist Empire known as the Kainu created these as effigies against their enemies. They laid mystical curses on this effigy which then transferred to the demon it was made to resemble. Once the demon and this effigy were synced up perfectly, the Kainu would smash the effigy, killing the demon. However, before this effigy could be destroyed, the Kainu were wiped out by the Jubi, the Lord of the Demons when it broke into the human realm."

"But I thought the Sage of the Six Paths killed and sealed away all the demons after killing the Jubi?" you asked.

"Indeed, while he killed many, he didn't kill them all. A lot of them were simply sealed away, back into their native realms. The demon this effigy was made for is still alive and it's still connected. The effigy went unnoticed and forgotten to history, but it's releasing demonic energy into your world. Once you destroy it, it'll no doubt lessen the amount of demonic energy being pumped into the realm."

"So, go find this effigy, smash it to stop demon gas from leaking into the world, get a shiny reward from you. That sum it up well?" you said with a cheeky grin.

"A crude way of saying it, but yes." Raksha confirmed.

"Okay, so where is this effigy? You said it's in the Mist Empire but that's a lot of land to cover."

"I apologize, I do not know. The veils of the dimensional barriers are thick, I can only get a general location. But as I said, the more of these demonic relics you destroy, the easier it will be for me to find them."

"Alright then. Hm..." you muttered.

"If you have any questions, now would be the time to ask them. I can feel our time here growing short." Raksha noted.

Well? Did you have any questions for Raksha?

This bit sounds a bit suspect. People generally... Don't refuse utopia without a reason. Oh well, we'll probably learn more later.

-[X] If we do stop the demonic leakage of energy into our world, will the people who have remained ageless suddenly expire? And if you were our protectors, then why would a barrier need to be placed in the first place. Why would we need to ensure our protectors would keep their word if you all were so willing to leave.

"Nah, I think I got all the info I need! Plus, we can see each other again right?" you asked.

"Indeed. Now rest well, my chosen..." Raksha said as he and the white void faded into darkness...

---

Your eyes snapped open and you sat up. That was quite the weird experience, but you knew that it wasn't some vivid dream. However, multiple thoughts went through your head. The first and biggest was how Raksha claimed that he and you were basically unknowns to each other, but he somehow knew of your goal to unify and bring peace to the lands. Secondly, although this might just be you overthinking it, you noticed that anytime he talked of humanity, it was as if he regarded them as children. Beings who needed the guiding hands of divinity to lead them.

But there wasn't much you could do for now. Even if you pointed out those things, you had no idea how Raksha would react. With someone so...otherworldly, you thought it was better to play it safe. With a sigh, you got out of the plush bed and took a shower, getting ready for the day ahead! After you were done, you left the inn and sighed. Now you had to do something! But what?

[] Go find Kimimaro. You haven't seen him at all since your fight with Gaikotsu, it would be a good idea to check on him.

[] Search for a Swordsman of the Mist or a Mizukage (barring Byakuren), you want your unique custom sword and no better time to start than now!

[] Start looking for the effigy Raksha asked you to destroy. I mean, not like you got anything better to do right now.

[] If the last two fights taught you anything, you need to get stronger! Time to find a training partner!

You were curious about how Kimimaro was doing, you haven't seen him since he took Gaikotsu to the hospital after all. With your best bet being the Kaguya district, you tried to remember the way there and after a few hours, you managed to reach the walled off district! Now with no urgent need to enter, you decided not to walk up the wall and instead go towards the front entrance. The entrance was simple, a large door with the symbol of the Kaguya clan on it, with two guards standing in front of it, stoically staring at you.

"Ah, it is you. Thank you for your help with Gaikotsu." one of the guards spoke. "What business do you have here with us?"

"I wanted to see Kimimaro." you answered.

The guard's face turned into a sour sneer, but otherwise kept his tone level as he replied, "I don't know where he is, but we'll send a message to him."

"Alright. Um. Can I wait here?" you asked. The guard glared at you in a way that clearly answered the question with a hard no, but right at that moment you heard footsteps behind you. Turning around, you saw two people. The first was Kimimaro, looking rather surprised to see you, and the second was a very tall and imposing looking man. He had long shaggy white hair and wore a traditional looking haori, but didn't wear a shirt underneath, revealing his chiseled physique. He kinda looked like a much gruffer Kimimaro now you saw the two of them side by side.

"Heya," the imposing man said, his relaxed tone at complete odds with his stature. "Kimimaro was filling me in on what happened while I was gone. So you're Maya."

"Yes I am! Who are you if I may ask?" you asked politely.

"Ah, yes. Introductions are in order, aren't they. Well, I'm Hiricho Kaguya, leader of the Kaguya Clan and a Swordsman of the Mist. C'mon in!" Hiricho said, walking ahead of you and ordering the guards to open the gate. He sauntered forward and with a motion of his hand, told you and Kimimaro to follow him. You shrugged and walked side by side with Kimimaro.

"I apologize for Hiricho's behavior." Kimimaro stated.

"It's no issue, he seems real nice!" you said.

"I know, I just meant his informality. I don't think it's becoming of a leader." Kimimaro said. "But I am glad to see you are well. Rumors have floated around that you managed to defeat Kaitaikojo, is that true?"

"Hell yeah I did!" you boasted.

"Impressive. Also if you're curious, Gaikotsu is currently in the hospital, heavily monitored, and healing up from his injuries." Kimimaro said, almost knowing that you'd ask about the laughing man.

"That's good." you muttered. The conversation stopped as Hiricho led you into a large shrine. The room you entered was wide and spacious, various tapestries of bloody battles were recorded on the walls, and finally there was a large chair with the Kaguya clan symbol engraved on it on a raised up portion of the room. Hiricho quickly sat on the chair and motioned for you and Kimimaro to sit.

Kimimaro respectfully sat on his knees, while you sat on your butt, legs outstretched, leaning your body backwards and keeping steady with your hands palm down on the ground, looking up at Hiricho.

"Good thing you came Maya, this will make things much easier." Hiricho chuckled. "As the leader of the Kaguya Clan, I hereby thank you for your service in restraining Gaikotsu."

"It was no issue." Kimimaro replied.

"No skin off my nose!" you cheekily said, Kimimaro holding back a large sigh.

"Normally, a pat on the back is all you would get, but personally? I don't like to be in debt, you know? So I suppose I'll reward your good behavior. Tell me if you guys want anything and if it's within my power, I'll try to grant it." Hiricho said bluntly.

"Wow, really? That's pretty cool!" you exclaimed.

"Eh, I do what I can to help those who helped me." Hiricho casually said with a shrug.

Now you can ask Hiricho for something! If it's within his power, anyway. What will you ask for?

"I've noticed that a lot of the shinobi I've seen here use very unique swords. Not that I want to ask for those specifically, I am just curious if I could get my own unique sword somehow?" you asked.

"Hm. There's two ways for that. The first is to pull together enough money and then try to talk to the legendary blacksmith of the Mist. Of course, that's if he finds you worthy, and if he cares to make your weapon anytime soon. Or, which is how most of the weapons are made, you get the attention of one of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist or a Mizukage and they give him a recommendation. So, I recommend impressing me with the information you give me, aye?" Byakuren explained.

[X] "Well, I'd like a legendary sword of my own, how do I get proven worthy for one?"
