In a world wracked by endless war coming from the Shinobi Empires of Jihopan, a young boy named Adachi awakens the power of the legendary Rinnegan. Resolute, he goes on a journey to stop the wars.
Introduction
Since time immemorial, the history of the land known as Jihopan has always been one of conflict. From the legendary times where man fought against demon, to more modern times where shinobi clans of all kinds allied with various feudal lords that sought control and territory; war has always been Jihopan's consort. Clans became nations became empires, all seeking to unite the world under their own rule.

---

Despite the horrific war the continent of Jihopan has been through, pockets of normality do exist. On a faraway island in the Mist Empire was a family of five. There was Eisaku Hyuga, a former member of the Leaf Empire who deserted his post out of disgust due to the actions of his allies. During his escape, he was heavily injured and was found by Orika Terumi, a civilian hiding on the shores of the Leaf Empire. Orika tended to the wounded Eisaku and eventually fell in love with each other. After Eisaku was well enough, they both traveled into the Land of Water proper and eventually shored on an island that was small, but well populated with peaceful people who simply wanted to live without strife.

During the years they lived on the island, Eisaku and Orika managed to have three children. The eldest was Anzu, a beautiful young woman with long black hair who can be stoic and aloof at times, but loves her family dearly. Due to Orika being of the Terumi Clan, Anzu was born with the Boil Release Kekkei Genkai and she was taught in the ways of the ninja by her father for protection. The second child was Otama, a brash and hotblooded boy blessed with his father's eyes, gaining the Byakugan. He was also trained by Eisaku, but this time he focused on teaching Otama the Gentle Fist, a powerful and feared Taijutsu style only known to the Leaf Empire.

Finally, there was you. The youngest of the family, a boy named Adachi. Unlike your siblings, you neither had the Byakugan or a Kekkei Genkai, meaning you were the only one other than your mother not to be blessed with a genetic power! However, this didn't bother you too much, as you tried to make up your lack of power with cunning and wit, becoming quite the trickster and tactician.

Life was peaceful on the island. Your routine was to wake in the morning, eat breakfast, train in the shinobi arts with your father and siblings, then do chores such as cleaning the hand built house your father made years ago, picking fruit, going fishing for dinner or buying supplies from the shops within the town. It was a simple life, but you did gain the urge to know more about the world outside as you grew. Both your parents have told you how horrific the world was with a seemingly eternal war waging and how you were lucky to even have the life you did. Anzu had similar ambitions but never really acted upon them and Otama was content to simply live life out on his island paradise.

However, the peace you had known was shattered on stormy night. A loud voice shook you awake, Anzu and Otama now suddenly crowding around you. Terror was evident in their eyes and it was then, through the storm, you heard the sounds of combat. Anzu shakily explained that people from the Leaf Empire had found where Eisaku had ran off to, and sent out an assassination squad to kill him. You wanted to run outside and fight along side your father, but Anzu shook her head, saying that you three will escape, using the transformation jutsu to hide within the town. You wanted to argue, but deep down, you knew that it was the only thing you could do.

The three of you quickly escaped the house you all grew up in, seeing your father desperately trying to defend himself against an onslaught of shinobi. You could tell from their headbands that they were Leaf Empire shinobi You quickly used the transformation jutsu, as did Anzu! But as for Otama...

He jumped into the fray. Anzu slammed her hand over your mouth as you cried out for him. Anzu pulled you away, mumbling curses at her brother as she carried you into the town, where even more Leaf shinobi were looting and pillaging the town you had grown up in. Bodies of your neighbors and friends were scattered across the floor, staining the earth red with blood. You and Anzu were stopped by a group of Leaf shinobi and you closed your eyes, bracing for the end...

But it was not to be. With a loud roar, a squadron of Mist shinobi had come to the rescue, fighting off the Leaf ninja! You cheered them on as Anzu took you away, finally managing to find a hiding spot near the coast of the island where other survivors were. It took hours, the sound of fighting clashing through the air, but then it soon went silent. You and Anzu looked at each other. You both needed to see what was happening.

Holding your sister's hand, you walked back to the town. Everything was destroyed, reduced to rubble or burned to the ground. You tried to keep a calm demeanor as you saw a Mist ninja about to leave. It was a conversation that you'd never forget.

"Sir..." you muttered, getting the ninja's attention. "Thank you for saving us...but what about my town?"

The ninja shrugged, "Ain't my job to fix this place. We were only sent here cause we heard about the Leaf coming into our territory."

"So you're not going to help us rebuild?" Anzu asked, holding back her anger and despair.

The ninja sighed, giving you two a sad look. "Sorry, but if we spent time rebuilding every town that got destroyed, The Mist Empire would be too weak to defend itself against other empires. Some of the Mizukage would love to help, Gengetsu and Mei are pretty well spoken on the subject, but...sorry."

With that, the shinobi vanished, leaving you and Anzu in the center of your ruined home.

---

The Mist Empire had saved them, but they had no care of the town or people they were saving. It was a mere skirmish, a battle to simply prove the Mist wasn't going to let any territory go. It wasn't due to any genuine attempt to save their people, or to protect their livelihood. During the attack, the population of the town, which wasn't large to begin with, was now down to a scant few. Your mother and father had died, your father's eyes having been stolen by someone in a display that disgusted you. As for Otama, he was missing. You didn't know if he had died or was taken away, but you hoped that he was alive somewhere...

In the weeks afterward, Anzu had taken control of leadership of the town, as she was the only one willing to lead the people to get things done. Instead of the small, yet vibrant town, there was a small building that held every surviving citizen, as there was simply no more salvageable material to use. The town had nothing to trade or barter with anymore, meaning there was no way to properly rebuild.

You sat down crossed-legged in front of your parent's graves. The old cemetery now had a lot more tombstones than last time you were here. Your eyes were closed and you thought on the injustice of what happened. Your parents had always told you life outside the island was hell, a place where even the safest of havens were at risk. You thought your home empire would help you rebuild and construct. But they left you to scrounge and survive by yourself.

"Is this...the status quo? Is this what every civilian must go through? The ninja we talked too, he was clearly guilty of leaving us like this. Even for them, this must be difficult. This is...completely unacceptable!" you spoke to yourself, frustration and sorrow running through you. "I am nothing but a single person, but I refuse to let this continue! I will stake my very life...on this...!"

Suddenly, a power began to flow through you. You shouted in surprise and fell onto the ground, losing consciousness. When you awoke, you were in the communal living quarters where Anzu was worriedly looking over you.

"Adachi...?" Anzu questioningly asked.

"What happened?" you replied, your voice sounding much more feminine that before. "Wait...what happened to my voice?!"

"Adachi...are you using a transformation jutsu? You're a girl...and I've never seen eyes like your's before!" Anzu whispered, pointing out the other people in the building.

"I'm not!" you whispered back. "What the heck...?"

Putting a cloak over you to hide your...new self, Anzu lead you to the coast line and towards the reflective water. The reflection looking back wasn't the usual happy-go-lucky boy with a mop of untamed black hair and dull gray eyes that you were used too, but it was of a confused girl with messy black hair that went down to your mid-shoulders and gray eyes with a purple tint that had concentric circles spreading out from the pupil.

"What happened to me?" you asked out loud, not expecting an answer.

"Wait, I've heard about this!" Anzu gasped. "Remember the fairy tales mother used to tell you when we were young? The one of the sage with the eyes of god who banished all the demons back to the underworld?"

"O-Oh yeah! The story said his eyes looked like the ripple of a pond after dropping a stone into it. Do I...have the eyes of god?" you muttered. "Is my being a girl one of their powers?"

"...Adachi. You've been blessed with a great power. With this power, you could..." Anzu trailed off.

"I know what I must do. I actually decided on it before gaining this power." you said, looking at your sister. "Just don't get too freaked out that you may have a little sister now, okay?"

Both you and Anzu laughed, for the first time in what felt like centuries. Your role was clear now. You had to train these powers. You had to end the all consuming war. You...were going to change the world!

---

It took you years to get a handle on all the basic powers you could manifest. Thankfully, you learned how to switch between male and female (which you named Maya) at will now and you could learn loads of jutsu that you would have never dreamed of until now! Your sister did her best to find any sort of material on your new powers and while nothing major came up, she did find out what you had was called the Rinnegan. Finally, the day was here. You felt ready to go out on your journey.

You will create a new age!

---

Greetings, Mega here, trying this quest for a the billionth time. Anyway, our MC has the Rinnegan and there are seven different paths. They are Deva, Human, Asura, Animal, Preta, Naraka, and finally, the unique Inner Path. Each path has a basic ability and then five more ranks after that. You will start with the basics of every path, but I will only give you one free rank up for now. To get another rank up, you must complete an arc. The only exception is Inner Path, you shall gain ranks in that tree for free as you progress through the story.

Now, here are the abilities of each Path. To reach rank 4, you need three points invested in other Paths. To reach rank 5, you need four points invested in other Paths.

Deva Path:
Deva Base:
Usage of all ten naturally occurring elements (earth, fire, ice, lightning, metal, water, wind, wood, yang, yin)

Deva Rank 1:
Gain Bansho Tenin and Shinra Tensei. Each further rank in Deva will also increase the force of these techniques.

Deva Rank 2:
Jutsu crafting with yin and yang. Your amplitude with ninjutsu allows you to create techniques from any idea. So Pain's weird stuff like the shapeshifting, tailed beast extraction, etc. Came from this rank.

Deva Rank 3:
Gain Chibaku Tensei. Each further rank in Deva will also increase the force of this technique.

Deva Rank 4:
Can transpose yin and yang into the eight elements: gain usage of "black" and "white" elements.

Deva Rank 5:
Gain Shinra Tensei: Seiatsu. Also can combine the eight elements into various fusions that can replicate kekkei genkai.

Human Path:
Human Base:
Can easily pick up fighting styles with observation and allows usage of the Eight Gates.

Human Rank 1:
Can grab the soul of an individual with physical contact. The soul grip is unrefined and can gleam information, but the more information gleamed. Yanking the soul out kills the target. Each further rank in Human increases the finesse of the soul grip. You can also open up the first gate without a physical downside.

Human Rank 2:
The soul grip can now also gleam impressions instead of information, allowing further insight into how to perform techniques, for example. You can open up to three gates without physical downsides.

Human Rank 3:
The soul grip can now cleanse impurities in the soul or wrack it with blights. This can be subtle as lessening/amplifying a personality trait to as severe as curing or inducing a mental illness. You can open up to five gates without physical downsides.

Human Rank 4:
A lesser form of the soul grip can now be done with eye contact, reducing the effects but also completely removing the chance of yanking out a soul. This is also subtle and is not detectable, if you weren't concerned about the soul yank for certain people. You can open up to seven gates without physical downsides.

Human Rank 5:
This is a get out of jail free for using the final gate. Once. Make it count.

Asura Path
Asura Base:
Usage of body modification techniques, beginning with stretchy limbs

Asura Rank 1:
Due to an agreement forged by an ancient Rinnegan user long ago in a distant land, the asura warlord Astradhani has leased his weaponry so it can be summoned by users of the Asura Path. Each further rank in Asura increases the power of the summoned weaponry.

Asura Rank 2:
Gain the ability to manifest a second pair of arms, of which Astradhani weaponry can be imbued into without lasting physical damage.

Asura Rank 3:
Gain the ability to manifest two additional faces and a foldable serrated sash-like tail appendage.

Asura Rank 4:
Gain the ability to manifest a third pair of arms, of which Astradhani weaponry can be imbued into without lasting physical damage.

Asura Rank 5:
Astradhani appreciates your patronage and will let you summon a mechanical weaponized vehicle.

Animal Path:
Animal Base:
One way contract with all animal summons with an existing contract. You may summon willing individuals. One medium sized summon limit.

Animal Rank 1:
Can forge pacts with individual summons, effectively normal contracts but with individual summons - they receive moderate stat boosts while in a pact with you. Summons without pacts are under no obligation to help or even speak, but cannot permanently harm you unprovoked. Three medium sized summon and pact limit.

Animal Rank 2:
Individual summons receive augmentations while in an agreement with you. Stronger summons without pacts are now more willing to speak with you, including for favors less permanent than pacts. Five medium sized summon limit and pact limit.

Animal Rank 3:
Pacts can grant entire new abilities to you or your summons, appropriate for the animal, like fire breath or electrified touch. Powerful summons without pacts are more willing to speak with you, and with effort you can contact legendary animals without existing contracts. Three large sized summon and pact limit.

Animal Rank 4:
You can now speak with and command all mundane animals. Mundane animals en masse and summons can be temporarily empowered with your chakra, especially elevating pact special abilities to powerful heights. The very mightiest of summons are more willing to speak with you. Five large sized summon and pact limit.

Animal Rank 5:
Your mastery of contracts is legendary. You can sunder contracts on touch, permanently banishing an individual summon with a glancing blow, or disrupting a human's contract or even erasing it with concentration. As a one time agreement, you may sign a pact with an entire group of animals, like slugs, which bestows your pact benefits on the entire group, and one member of that group will receive double the benefits of your pact. Even the grandest of summons will not just listen to, but respect your words - your strength is unquestionable. Three monstrous sized summon limit, unlimited pacts.

Preta Path:
Preta Base:
Can detect chakra via vision and sensing.

Preta Rank 1:
Can absorb chakra via physical contact and can also absorb the chakra of any jutsu used via the Blocking Technique Absorption Seal. Each further rank in Preta increases the speed of this technique.

Preta Rank 2:
You can create chakra barriers to block techniques.

Preta Rank 3:
The Blocking Technique Absorption Seal no longer requires the user touch the jutsu, as an absorbing aura forms around their body.

Preta Rank 4:
Physical contact can now passively leech a bit of chakra without dedicated use of the Chakra Absorption Technique. You can unleash absorbed chakra in a devastating beam of destruction or in the form of the techniques you have absorbed. Your pick.

Preta Rank 5:
Your jutsus now passively leech a bit of chakra from whoever is effected by them. You gain a powerful sealing technique that blocks the chakra system of those it is used upon

Naraka Path:
Naraka Base:
You are able to utilize all five types of genjutsu. You are also immune to sight genjutsu.

Naraka Rank 1:
You can apply a special genjutsu to your mind, making you more focused and alert while dampening pain. You can now layer different genjutsu on top of each other to combine their effects with only one application of an illusion. This rank allows two genjutsu of the same sense to be combined, and are resistant to a type of genjutsu of your choice.

Naraka Rank 2:
You can apply a special genjutsu to your body, a glamour of perfected transformation technique, creating a perfect disguise that cannot be seen through without major inconsistencies. You can now combine three genjutsu of the same sense, or two genjutsu of different sense, and are resistant to a second type of genjutsu of your choice.

Naraka Rank 3:
You can apply a single genjutsu to objects, that automatically cast them on others. A kunai that casts a touch genjutsu, a mirror that casts a visual genjutsu, etc. You can now combine five genjutsu of the same sense, or three genjutsu of different senses, and are resistant to a third type of genjutsu of your choice.

Naraka Rank 4:
You can apply a single genjutsu to others, that unless broken by themselves or someone of sufficient skill, will entrap them permanently. You can now combine any number of genjutsu, and are resistant to a fourth type of genjutsu of your choice.

Naraka Rank 5:
A single genjutsu can now be applied to an entire area, affecting any chosen creatures that enter the area, and can combine as many genjutsu as your masterful mind can manage with all previous Naraka special abilities (objects that cast combined genjutsu, etc). You are also immune to all genjutsu.

Inner Path:
Inner Base:
You gain the ability to alter the balance of yin and yang within yourself, making one far more predominant over the other without upsetting your inner balance. If you incentivize yang, you are male, Adachi, and you gain bonuses to taijutsu, power, stamina, and yang-based ninjutsu (earth, metal, water, wood, yang). If you incentivize yin, you are female, Maya, and you gain bonuses to genjutsu, intelligence, hand seals, and yin-based ninjutsu (fire, ice, lightning, wind, yin).

Now if you would please, choose which path you would like to Rank Up.

Databooks:
These will contain the information about a character, including their stats and available techniques.

Stats:
The stat system is merely the canon stat system, except doubled. So a 5 in Kishimoto's system would be a 10 in mine. Rather skilled people can earn a 10+, showing great skill or natural talent in a stat. More rarely, someone can earn the highest stat possible, a 10++. This means a person excels in the stat or is an extreme prodigy. The eight stats are as follows:

-Ninjutsu: How skilled, strong, and knowledgeable you are in using Ninjutsu techniques.
-Taijutsu: How skilled and knowledgeable you are in hand to hand and weaponry skills.
-Genjutsu: How skilled, strong, and knowledgeable you are in using and recognizing Genjutsu techniques.
-Intelligence: A more passive stat, this is how smart, cunning, and aware you are in all situations.
-Strength: How physically strong you are. It also doubles as your durability stat.
-Speed: How physically fast you are. Also includes general agility an dexterity.
-Stamina: This is how much energy, both physical and chakra wise, you have.
-Hand Seals: How quick you can fire out jutsu. It also doubles as your chakra control stat.

Chakra Costs:
Most jutsu need a certain amount of chakra to utilize. From lowest to highest, the costs are as follows:
None, Minimal, Low, Medium, High, Massive, Monstrous, Fatal.

There's no main correlation to these costs and the stamina stat. I'll generally just eyeball them and scope out how a character is doing stamina wise by feel. But in general, a man with 10 stamina could probably spam more high cost jutsu than a man with 5 stamina.

Game Overs:
Should the event arises where you guys get killed, do not worry! For each arc, you will be afforded 3 lives. You spend one life and restart from the place you died at. However, should you continue to die after the 3 lives are up, then you'll restart from where you died, but now with permanent consequences. Too many deaths could put you in a truly unwinnable situation in the plot and shunt you towards a bad ending! However, your lives refresh at the start of every new arc.

Also, should you be fighting with an ally and they get killed, I will give you the chance to use one of your lives to make sure they survive. Any fatal or reasonably dangerous moment will be met with a Critical Moment! tag.

Alignments:
DnD standard fare will be here with the good/evil and law/chaos axis. But now the square is made into a cube with a third axis added showing the honor of a character. Honorable, Quasihonorable, and Dishonorable are the three elements of this alignment axis, and they simply mean if character is generally trustworthy, a wild card, or untrustworthy respectively.

Relationships:
Relationships go from -10 to 10, with 0 meaning neutral. Easy enough to understand! While it differs between characters, generally you need a 6 or 7 to initiate a romance, and getting below a -7 means archenemy territory.

The Quest's Relation to Canon Naruto:
I utilize Pyro's modification of the canon setting, known amongst others as the Pyroverse. It's far more fleshed out as a setting with many additional characters. He has developed it over time as the manga progressed, generally following it until he started disagreeing with many things past the Fourth World War arc, either because he disliked them or they irreconcilably contradicted setting elements he had already made.

This technique causes the ground under the opponent's feet to slide around, causing a loss of balance if they're not focused. This jutsu can be used in many ways: offensive, defensive, and utility uses are all possibilities.
Chakra Use: Low.

Fire Release: Breath of Flame:
The user takes a deep breath and expels a large jet of flame.
Chakra Use: Low.

Gender Switch:
By manipulating yin and yang energies Adachi/Maya can switch between male and female forms at will.
Chakra Use: Minimal.

Ice Release: Freezing Touch:
After making the proper hand seals, the user's hands become coated in an icy aura. Should they touch anything, it will begin to quickly freeze over and cause risk of cold damage.
Chakra Use: Low, but requires upkeep.

Lightning Release: Lightning Surge:
The user builds up lightning chakra in their hand and then slams it against the ground, sending a surge of electricity outward.
Chakra Use: Low.

Metal Release: Imperial Wall:
The user creates a large wall made out sturdy metal, defending against most attacks.
Chakra Use: High.

Soul Grip:
A jutsu unique to the Human Path. The user places their hand on the target's head and grasps their very soul, instantly paralyzing them. From there, the user can look through the soul, being able to glean information through their memories. Unlike certain genjutsu which allow insight into the target's mind, there is no defense or mental barriers that can stop the user from peering into the target's memories. At lower levels, the Soul Grip is unrefined and requires concentrated effort to hold on to the soul and sort through the memories. Finally, the user can rip out the soul from the target's body, instantly killing them.
Chakra Use: Medium, but requires upkeep.

Water Release: Violent Water Wave:
Water gushes out from the mouth like a waterfall and washes away the enemy. One can freely control the power of this technique with the amount chakra one releases.
Chakra Use: Low at the minimum.

Wind Release: Great Breakthrough:
This is a relatively simple technique that creates a sudden gust of wind, but its scale varies greatly depending on the user. If used by a superior shinobi, it has enough destructive power to knock down a large tree. The wind from the squall can blow away all things in the user's line of sight.
Chakra Use: Medium.

Wood Release: Wooden Arm:
Upon use of this technique, the user's arm is coated in a thick layer of wood that has several spiked protrusions. This makes their physical blows much more powerful.
Chakra Use: Medium.

Taijutsu:
Chakra Flow:
The user channels their chakra through their weapon, increasing its power. Adachi/Maya can also flow chakra into their limbs, making their physical attacks stronger.
Chakra Use: Low, but requires upkeep.

Earth Chakra Flow:
The user channels their earth chakra through their weapon, giving it a rocky coating that can be altered in shape and amount. The weapon's weight, durability, and smashing power increase with the rocky coating. Adachi/Maya can also flow earth chakra into their limbs, allowing for powerful, if slow strikes.
Chakra Use: Low, but requires upkeep.

Eight Gates:
The Eight Gates are eight specific points on a person's Chakra Pathway System. They limit the overall flow of chakra within a person's body. The basis for the idea of the chakra gates comes from the body's limits on the functions within it. This makes the body much weaker, but it keeps the body from expiring too soon. By opening these gates, the user can surpass their own physical limits at the cost of extreme damage to their own bodies. Adachi/Maya can open two of these eight gates.

Falling Guillotine:
After jumping into the air, the user strikes the opponent with the heel of their foot, spiking them into the ground.
Chakra Use: None.

Fire Chakra Flow:
The user channels their fire chakra through their weapon, giving it flaming properties and increasing its cutting power. Adachi/Maya can also flow fire chakra into their limbs, scorching their foes upon hitting them.
Chakra Use: Low, but requires upkeep.

Iron Breaker Hammer:
Embracing the philosophy of the Strong Fist to the fullest, the user opens the First Gate and rears back their head before delivering a brutal headbutt to the opponent. The power of the move is known to instantly knock out enemies, although it is a double edged sword, as the user also takes damage along with the usual risks of opening the gates.
Chakra Use: None.

Ice Chakra Flow:
The user channels their ice chakra through their weapon, increasing it's sharpness and making it freezing cold. Adachi/Maya can also flow ice chakra into their limbs, giving them a thin, yet strong coating of ice for protection.
Chakra Use: Low, but requires upkeep.

Lightning Chakra Flow:
The user channels their lightning chakra through their weapon, giving it electrical properties and increasing its cutting and piercing power. Adachi/Maya can also flow lightning chakra into their limbs, allowing them to shock and even paralyze opponents depending on how much chakra they use.
Chakra Use: Low, but requires upkeep.

Metal Chakra Flow:
The user channels their metal chakra through their weapon, increasing it's density and durability, as well as being able to morph the weapon's shape. Adachi/Maya can also flow metal chakra into their limbs, turning their skin into metal for offensive and defensive purposes.
Chakra Use: Low, but requires upkeep.

Rising Dragon Fist:
A powerful attack where the user jumps and strikes the foe with an uppercut, usually hitting underneath the chin or into the midsection. Due to the force of the attack, most opponents are usually launched into the air afterward.
Chakra Use: None.

Stretchy Limbs:
Due to the blessing of the Asura Path, Adachi/Maya's limbs are able to stretch far beyond their normal length, allowing for surprised ranged attacks and other versatile uses.
Chakra Use: None.

Strong Fist:
Strong Fist is a powerful fighting style, the purpose of which is to cause external damage and break bones. It is the exact opposite of Gentle Fist which is used mainly by the Hyuga clan. This style of fighting involves smashing your opponent and is generally used only by extremely physically powerful and dominating shinobi.

Water Chakra Flow:
The user channels their water chakra through their weapon, giving it a layer of water that surrounds the weapon. The power of the weapon is evenly dispersed amongst the water, which can extend past the weapon's reach and flex past the weapon's capabilities. Water chakra flow is often used in a manner similar to a whip or flail. Adachi/Maya can also flow water chakra into their limbs, effectively extending the range of their strikes.
Chakra Use: Low, but requires upkeep.

Wind Chakra Flow:
The user channels their wind chakra through their weapon, greatly increasing its cutting power. Adachi/Maya can also flow wind chakra into their limbs, and their attacks change with how they attack. A swipe will cause cutting damage, while a thrust will release a gale of wind to push opponents back.
Chakra Use: Low, but requires upkeep.

Wood Chakra Flow:
The user channels their wood chakra through their weapon, coating it with flora that the user can manipulate at will, such as creating vines to capture an opponent, or covering their weapon with bark for a powerful blow. Adachi/Maya can flow wood chakra into their limbs, giving them access to the many versatile options that can come from plant life.
Chakra Use: Low, but requires upkeep.

Genjutsu:
Clarity:
A unique genjutsu that is applied onto the user. This illusion makes the user more focused and alert, making it much harder to disrupt their concentration. Due to the increased focus, this even dampens the pain the user feels.
Chakra Use: Minimal, but requires upkeep.

Demonic Illusion: Perfect Transformation:
A visual genjutsu unique to Adachi/Maya, coming from the Naraka Path. This is a self applied genjutsu and when used, their body emits a subtle aura of chakra, so subtle that it would even take a master sensor to realize it's there. Whenever a target looks at Adachi/Maya, the genjutsu will fill their mind and make them seem like someone who would naturally be at the area or even make them look like an entirely different person. This genjutsu is nigh impossible to see through unless there are major inconsistencies, making it tremendous for sneaking into places without suspicion or meeting with people that wouldn't be possible otherwise.
Chakra Use: High, but requires low upkeep.

Demonic Illusion: Stabbing Pain:
A minor genjutsu that causes the target to feel the constant pain of being stabbed. The user is able to choose where the victim will feel the pain, and this genjutsu can be used multiple times on the same person. The pain can be used on oneself as a defense against other genjutsu.
Chakra Use: Low

Fierce Echo:
This sound genjutsu causes every noise to echo, making it difficult to pinpoint the location of a sound.
Chakra Use: Low.

Limb Switch:
A sight genjutsu that forces the opponent to think their limbs have switched around. Their hands are on their feet and vice versa, bringing them a large amount of confusion and shock. With more chakra applied, the user can specifically switch larger body parts, such as arms and legs for an even greater effect.
Chakra Use: Medium.

Siren's Scream:
After forming the hand seals, the user lets loose a chakra-enhanced scream that will paralyze anyone who hears it for a few seconds, enough for a decisive blow. Further chakra needs to be expended to shield any allies from the effects of this genjutsu.
Chakra Use: Medium.

Stains of Time:
A powerful genjutsu activated by the user either snapping their fingers or clapping after preforming the needed hand seals. Should an opponent hear the sound, their perception of time will slow and distort, making them move much more slowly than usual. This genjutsu is hard to break out of, as even if the opponent realizes its a genjutsu, their actions are still slowed down. The user can manipulate the amount of time the distortion lasts, up to a maximum of ten seconds.
Chakra Use: High at minimum.

Touch of Disorientation:
A simple genjutsu that causes the target's senses to go haywire for a few seconds after touching them.
Chakra Use: Low.

Touch of Paralysis:
A simple but potent touch genjutsu that numbs whatever is touched to the point that it cannot move. Usually used on limbs in hand-to-hand combat.
Chakra Use: Medium.

Arc 1: Chapter 1
Winning Vote: Naraka Path
---

In the years it took to finish up your training, you and Anzu managed to build a small hut for yourselves. It was cramped, but at least it granted some privacy from the other citizens. You poked your head into the hut, seeing Anzu writing a letter on a scroll, a small plank of wood on her lap as an impromptu writing desk.

"Hey sis!" you said, walking in. You took exactly two steps before you reached the center of the hut and sat down on your small bed on the right side. Anzu, sitting on the opposite side, looked at you and nodded, putting her writing to the side.

"What is it Adachi?" Anzu asked.

"I think it's time." you muttered seriously. "I'm ready to go out."

"Are you sure?" Anzu whispered back, a serious look in her eyes.

"Yes. I won't get any stronger here if I keep to myself. Besides, it's for the best anyway. With my eyes, one wrong word to the wrong person and this entire island ends up in flames again." you said. "I'll leave in the middle of the night. I already built a boat. If it sinks, well, I can walk on water."

"Adachi-" Anzu said before she was cut off by your body brightly glowing for a moment.

"Who's Adachi? I'm Maya!" you declared with a goofy grin, now in your female form.

Anzu rolled her eyes and said, "Look, seriously. It's dangerous out there. Please, be careful. I don't want...to lose anyone else."

"I know sis. I still have hope Otama is alive somewhere. But for mom, dad, and you, I refuse to die before I can end these pointless wars."

"Alright." Anzu sighed before reaching over and giving you a hug. You returned it and after a moment, you got to your feet. Anzu looked up at you and asked, "So, do you know where you're going to go first?"

You pulled out a map of Jihopan that was your father's previously and looked at it intently. You were currently on the island on the west side of the Mist Empire. Journey wise, going further west would bring you onto the mainland, the only land the Mist Empire controls that connects to the others. Going east in any direction would bring you into the heart of the Mist Empire itself. If you went mostly north, you could end up in the Cloud Empire and in the northwest was the Frost Empire. If you took a small turn going into the Frost Empire, you could hit the Whirlpool Protectorate, a small nation protected by the Leaf Empire.

Where were you going to go?

[] East, to the main island of the Mist Empire.

[] West, onto the mainland then into the Leaf Empire.

[] North, towards the Cloud Empire.

[] Northwest, towards the Frost Empire.

[] Northwest, towards the Whirlpool Protectorate.

Arc 1: Chapter 2
Winning Vote: East, to the main island of the Mist Empire.

---

"I'm going into the heart of the Mist Empire. I don't expect to make any major changes right now, but it'll give me some insight on what this war is like. Plus, I need to get some allies and who better to start with than my hometown?" you said, listing out your reasons to Anzu.

"Alright. Just be careful. If you ever need my help just say so." Anzu seriously said.

"I will sis." you seriously replied, turning back into Adachi. Anzu stood up and gave you one more hug. You returned it strongly, knowing it might be the last time you can ever hug your precious sister...

---

The rest of the day went by both agonizingly slowly and much too fast. Despite the bluster you showed, you were extremely nervous of just waltzing into the Mist Empire, but you knew it had to be done. Besides, if needed be, you could pass yourself off as some hopeful new recruit or something. Eventually the time came, in the dark of the night, you slipped out of the hut with Anzu and brought you handmade raft to the eastern shore of the island. Going by this small raft will be dangerous, but it wasn't like you had any other choices other than trying to run across the waves.

"Goodbye Anzu. Please, be safe." you said as you stepped onto the raft that was floating on the shallow shore.

"You too, Adachi." Anzu solemnly replied. You gave her a smile before turning towards the sail of your raft and making a hand seal, manipulating wind chakra to blow a hefty breeze onto the sail and making it move forward. You turned back to look at Anzu and the island you've lived on your entire life.

"When I come back, I'll be much stronger. The world will be much more peaceful. Goodbye." you muttered to yourself before turning back around to focus on your raft.

---

With your inherent chakra detection, you were able to avoid any encounters with any shinobi by turning the raft away or using a transformation jutsu to make it look like fish breaking the surface. During the days it took to get to the heart of the Mist Empire, you practiced more of your genjutsu, eventually creating a very devious one you called the Stains of Time. Once it was applied it would distort the time perceived by the opponent, making them slow down for a maximum of ten seconds! No doubt more than enough time to strike a powerful blow!

Soon you saw the skyline of the main island of the Mist. It was an oddly clear day all things considering and honestly you were happy you no longer had to deal with being on a raft for awhile. Turns out, you tend to get a bit seasick. As soon as you landed on the shore, you instantly detected some chakra just ahead of you. Looking forward, you saw a squadron of mist shinobi being lead by...

[] A tall man with the bottom half of his face covered in bandages and a large, cleaver-like sword slung across his shoulders. Next to him was a young shinobi who's face was hidden by a Hunter-Nin mask.

[] A muscular man who was around your age with brown hair that hid his eyes. He wore a brown poncho and pointed a sword at you that was twice your height with one hand. Next to him was a pretty young woman with brown hair and bright blue eyes, she seemed to be the only one unafraid of the poncho wearing man.

[] An extremely beautiful woman with long, straight silver hair and a top that showed off her midriff and a small opening on her chest to show off her...large assets. She had a hand on her hip and seemed to be examining you closely...

[] A tall, lanky man with black hair tied into a low ponytail. He wore a disheveled looking blue flak jacket and baggy pants, but the most distinguishing thing was his bright smile.

[] A icy looking woman with chin length white hair and cold blue eyes. She wore a blue kimono and had a kunai in her hand, no doubt ready to enter combat.

[] A serious looking woman with long, dirty blond hair and wearing the standard Mist shinobi empire with fishnets covering her arms and legs. In her hand was an odd looking blade that seemed to have deep cuts on it.

[] A smug looking man with white hair, bright purple eyes who showed off his triangular teeth. He carried a large sword and his purple vest was equipped with various water bottles.

"So let's see here. A mysterious person has somehow managed to dodge all the scout ships surrounding the Mist Empire and land directly on the main island." the man spoke, moving his sword off his shoulders and onto the ground, sand scattering at the impact. "Give me one reason why I shouldn't cut you down?"

"I'm just a refugee!" you shrieked, throwing on a scared face. "I just wanted to find a home here!"

"Sounds like bullshit," the bandaged man harshly retorted. "Anyone can make up such a flimsy story like that!"

"But I'm being hoooooneeeeessssst!" you cried, going into your knees and pleading towards the man. "Please, don't kill me! I just want to be safe!"

"Yeah, yeah I heard all that before." the man crassly said, raising his sword in the air. You absolutely had no intention of starting a fight in the middle of the Mist Empire, but you didn't know if you could even survive a single attack from that gigantic blade!

"Zabuza, I know it is out of turn for me to speak out, but there is no reason to pointlessly shed blood. If this man is truly a refugee then why not send him to the prison for interrogation?" the shinobi with the hunter-nin mask suddenly said, their voice soft and feminine.

"You're getting soft on me, Haku..." Zabuza lowly growled. He hefted his giant sword back onto his shoulders. "Fine, suppose some of the higher ups would get pissed if I cut down a civilian. If you don't wanna die then keep your head down and follow me."

"Well, this isn't the entrance I wanted." you thought, trying to think of any way to get out of this situation. If you wanted to be ballsy you could try running away and hiding somewhere. All you'd need to do is distract Zabuza and Haku, the rest of the squadron looked pretty weak. You could simply play along until you got into the prison, but what would you even do there?

Well, what will you do?

[] Try to talk to Zabuza. Maybe you can learn something useful.

[] Try to talk to Haku. They did stick up for you, kinda.

[] Use your Stains of Time genjutsu to slow down Zabuza and Haku then escape!

[] Pretend to fall down and claim you need to go to the hospital. It's better than prison!

[] Just keep your head down and let them take you to the prison.

Arc 1: Chapter 4
Winning Vote: Try to talk to Zabuza. Maybe you can learn something useful

---

You stayed silent as the squadron of shinobi surrounded you, Zabuza and Haku on your left and right sides respectively. They began to move forward, with Zabuza roughly pushing you. You waited for a few minutes before you turned your head towards Zabuza and began to ask him a question.

"So, uh, how is-" you began before Zabuza violently grabbed the back of your hand and slammed you face first into the ground. Thankfully you were still in a sandy area so it didn't hurt as bad as it could have...

"Shut up. I ain't going to be listening to anything you got to say. Another word to anyone and I chop off your head." Zabuza coldly whispered into your ear, the malice in his voice telling you that he'd easily go through on his threat. He then lifted you by your hair, making you stand on your feet. You spat out some sand and was forced to keep walking. Soon enough you were at the entrance of a city, a heavy fog making it tough to see any details other than the buildings in front of you.

Well, you had a few options in your mind. You could just play along and go to prison, it would no doubt keep you safe for now. You could try talking again, but with what Zabuza said, you weren't too keen on it. Finally, there was attempting an escape. Zabuza didn't even tie up your hands or anything! Of course, that worried you, it was as if he wanted you to escape...

What will you do?

[] Just go to prison. No point risking your life right now.

[] Attempt to escape! Forget all this crap, you're not going to rot in a cell!

[] You could always try to fake an injury, maybe they'll take you to a hospital instead?

[] Cry out and scream, try to attract some attention!

Winning Vote: Just go to prison. No point risking your life right now.

Even though it was a hunch, you decided not to try an escape. What would it do anyway even if you escaped? You're in the middle of the Mist Empire, you get caught eventually. So you kept your head down and followed Zabuza through the city. It took a bit of time, the prison was on the opposite end of the island you entered from, a large stone tower sticking straight into the air, the symbol of the Kirigakure etched onto it. As soon as you approached the prison, several shinobi stationed at the prison moved towards Zabuza.

"Zabuza, sir! What's happening?" the prison guard asked.

"Got a so called refugee washing up on our shore. Take him to interrogation." Zabuza bluntly said, sounding almost disappointed that you didn't do anything. He shoved you into the guard, who muttered something about Zabuza forgetting to tie you up and quickly tied some metal wire around your hands. You watched Zabuza, Haku, and his squadron vanish within a puff of smoke, their job done.

The guard grabbed you by the shoulder and led you into the prison. You didn't have time to really get a look at anything as you were quickly shoved into a room. You were forced to sit on an uncomfortable metal chair, with a metal table sitting in front of you. The guard sighed and crossed his arms before saying, "Alright. Here's the deal. You'll be interrogated by a Mist Empire shinobi. Should they find you're truthful, you should be allowed to be in the Mist Empire without any issue. If you're a threat, you'll be thrown into prison. Understood?"

"Yes." you said, thinking of ways to get out of this situation. The guard nodded and left the room, the heavy metal door loudly slamming in its frame, leaving you to your own devices.

What will you do now?

[] Just stay in the room and wait for the interrogator. You could smooth talk your way to freedom, going by what the guard said!

[] Turn into Maya! Clearly once they see you're not Adachi, they will get confused and you can manipulate things from there!

[] You can break these wires pretty easily. Break them and hide within the room, making it seem like you escaped, then slip out in the chaos!

[] Open the first gate and bust down the door, now you can make your escape without Zabuza breathing down your neck!

You smirked, knowing exactly what to do. You made a hand seal and morphed into your female half, Maya. You leaned back in your chair and waited. And waited. And waited even more. After what felt like forever, the door opened and in walked a tall man with slicked back black hair with similar colored eye patch covering his left eye. He looked at you and gave a wry smile before walking to your side, sighing.

"This transformation trick ain't gonna work. I got the news, you're a dude." the man bluntly said, reaching for your chest with speed you didn't expect. However, instead of simply reaching through a transformation as he thought, he grabbed a handful of your breasts.

"How about you take me out to dinner before you get handsy?" you smugly said. The man retracted his hand and then took a seat across from you, a confused, yet eager look noticeable on his face.

"Huh, guess the shit for brains outside can't tell between a dude and a cutie like you, eh?" the man said. "Not gonna lie, normally all I get here are dudes or total hogs that call themselves chicks. You're a nice change of pace."

"Charming." you muttered.

"Oh I can be if you want." the man said with a wink. "By the way, name's Kira Satsujin. How about yours?"

"Maya," you answered bluntly.

"Maya, eh? Nice name, rolls off the tongue very smoothly..." Kira lecherously said. "Anyway, blah blah blah you said you were a refugee but who gives a shit about that? I'll be clear, hot or not, I got no problem sending you to be torn to pieces by the prisoners down below. But, the place is pretty crowded these days, lot of POWs and people who think they can get away with shit since its wartime."

Kira leaned over and coldly glared at you. "So, I got an idea. You do a little favor for me, then I say you're clear and you can be a legal homeless refugee, no more ninja giving you shit."

"What's...the favor?" you cautiously asked, instantly not liking where his tone was going.

"Your panties. Gimme em." Kira stated.

"...Huh?"

"You heard me, your underwear. I'm a simple man with simple needs, you see. Give me your panties and you're free, no strings attached." Kira said.

"Is he serious? No, he can't be! No one can be that simple minded while having a job like this! But if he's being honest...a pair of underwear for freedom is a great trade. I...I...uh. Huh. What should I do...?" you thought.

Well, what will you do?

[] Give Kira your underwear. Even if he's lying, its just some clothes you lost.

[] Refuse Kira's offer and call him a creepy pervert. How dare he!

[] Open the Second Gate and punch Kira as hard as you can.

Winning Vote: Give Kira your underwear. Even if he's lying, its just some clothes you lost.

---

With nothing but your dignity and your underwear to lose, you took a deep sigh and then said, "So, you being honest? If I give you m-my underwear, you'll let me go?"

"Oh yeah, for sure." Kira said with a leery grin, no doubt getting some sick rush out of this. Of course, it wasn't helping you were buttering him up by playing along with a now shy and trembling voice.

"Okay...I'll do it." you lowly said, trying to seem ashamed and desperate.

"Good, good. Look, I'll even do you a favor, I'll give you some privacy..." Kira muttered as he stood up and turned around. With another sigh, you quickly went through the motions of taking off your pants, then underwear, and rapidly put your pants back on. You placed your underwear on the metal table and sighed once again.

"There, it's done...."

Kira eagerly turned around and his face drooped when he saw a pair of underwear clearly meant for males on the table. He picked it up and and gave it a curious sniff before recoiling and shouting "Ugh. Smells like sweaty balls!"

"Well, um. They were all I had..." you said, trying your best to hide the laughter you wanted to burst out.

"So you stole this dirty pair of underwear from a dude? Fuck, talk about a monkey's paw..." Kira grumbled, throwing the underwear back at you. "Whatever, you're free to go."

"Wait, really?" you asked, genuinely surprised.

"You did what I asked and I wasn't lying when I said the prison is full. Get the hell out of here before I change my mind." Kira angrily explained, pointing towards the door. Not wanting to lose your chance of freedom, you quickly got up and left the room. Some of the guards saw you coming out into the lobby, but shrugged and went on their way. Looks like they either didn't notice your new female form, or they simply didn't care for some reason. They did look very busy after all.

You quickly left the prison and found a secluded alley so you could put on your underwear. Then you put your back against the wall and slid down under you felt the cold earth underneath you. That...certainly wasn't the most graceful way to enter an empire, but now you are here, and you aren't considered suspicious anymore!

Many thoughts entered your head about what you should do and such. But you closed your eyes and took a deep, calming breath. There was a lot of things you could do in the Mist Empire now, all you needed to do was to pick a path...

What will you do?

[] Explore as much as you can, try to see if you can find anything interesting.

[] Go around and try to find a Mist shinobi. If you want to end the wars, then you need to find allies.

[] First things first, find a place to cleanse yourself and take a nap. You're exhausted after all of that!

[] Go find Zabuza and Haku. Now that you're no longer under suspicion, perhaps you can get a proper conversation!

[] Write In.
