Then, for whatever reason, you've massively misinterpreted my points. Considering my rebuttal, admittedly sardonically, pointed out the overall sense of the points that my problem is 100% with the write in and the mind set behind it and not the author, and you responded with this, I guess I wasn't direct enough.
Let's look over my points.
The first one can be surmised as me viewing the vote as an intense dislike for the vote because the way it's worded reeks of shipping. Whether true or not, I can't get past that.
The second one is, I really don't see this Pyrrha not becoming Jaune's partner anyways, given that Jaune is likely rocking a semblance that gives him guidance to the best path meaning he is going to show Pyrrha up a lot. She will either partner up with him at the end or constantly challenging him to prove she's better, and then probably be angry at him if he loses because 'the person who showed me up can't be this weak!' is a mindset I can easily see her taking. We're rather set on seeing a lot of Jaune either way, so the argument of 'I want to see more Jaune', makes me think 'we're going to do that anyways, so what's the point?'
The third is me saying 'oh hey, we could have some hilarious interactions between Jaune and Pyrrha as she tries to one up him, but inevitably fails because his Semblance would allow him to find ways to overcome her, since it's pretty insane if it is indeed Joan of Arc's, like most of us think. But the write in robs us of that interesting dynamic.
To surmise, I see people taking what could be an interesting plot development and story, skipping it to achieve something I see as incredibly likely to happen anyways, and all because they really like the character not the one we are playing as.
In no way does this reflect my opinion of the QM.
I've seen enough quests where the focus is not shipping to know this is not always true. Everyone just becomes incredibly passive aggressive about it and it ruins the fun of a quest for me instantly to try and participate in that environment. Don't get me wrong, there are numerous quests out there that buck the trend.
So far, without even meeting the full cast or seeing Pyrrha interact with Jaune, we already have close to half the voters saying 'partner with Jaune now' though. Even if not everyone intends it, it's not painting a pretty picture.
Ah, you can't stand shipping undertones and passive shipping sentiment. That clears things up, although I don't think you'll be able to avoid either here. I'm pretty sure we have WOG that Pyrrha's* mindset can mostly be summed up by "Fight" and "Fuck" with a fair amount of "Why not both" mixed in there. It's gonna be a notable part of the quest. And while I will admit that the write-in was in part inspired by my shipping tendencies, it is more so pushed by my desire to see if Jaune is worth our attention or if we should leave him for dead. The default options will give us some detail on that, but they won't give us as much as directly interacting with him would**.
That being said, I wouldn't say being paired with Jaune is inevitable because we've got no idea how the GM is gonna go about that (and with what seems like some relaxation of the color naming rule the biggest hindrance*** to messing with canon teams may not be present). And the teams for Beacon are really important, because that locks in 3 characters that will have dramatically more screen time than the others and with that exploration of their potentially interesting backstories.
*might have been a reference to mythical Achilles, although since this depiction of Pyrrha is much closer to Achilles the difference is quite likely just semantics
**could have dealt with this earlier, but two-for-one won
***Making a team name out of a handful of letters that follows the color rule and makes sure to have the leader be the first letter
So Pyrrha isn't destined to be shown up by Jaune. Then people's desire to get Jaune to join her as a teammate now as opposed to just relying on it happening is well founded.
I still am far more enjoying Jerk Pyrrha and have yet to see her interact with enough cast to want to immediately pick a partner yet.
Also, do know the vote says "partner" with quotes on purpose. When making it I was attempting (and probably failed) to express that Pyrrha wasn't picking him as an actual partner but as a warm body so that she can claim she had a "team". She heard Ozpin make a team comment just as she jumped off the cliff, so unless she wants to double back to grab a different warm body, her best option is Jaune.
At the risk of spoiling things, I'll just go ahead and say that Jaune doesn't know how to use his semblance yet, and Semblances work a bit differently here. Pyrrha's semblance for example, is not polarity but is a thematic panoply of abilities loosely defined by the keyword 'Unrivaled'. Steel turns away from her flesh for no weapon of mortal craft may strike her low. She stands on equal footing with the gods, supreme in the eyes of Selene.
(As my GMPC Pyrrha must be more overpowered than any other character in this quest )
As in better than actually everyone else, or are there adult Hunters that are better than her?
