Mahou Ronin Sachiko - A Drifting Magical Girl Tale

[x] Vivi told Nagisa to assist Sachiko, saying she and Tenshi would deal with Yoshinaka.

Hm electrifying the nails might backfire, and jumping on the lance is just asking to be hit... the table might work on its own but might not work without adding twelve people to the table and I doubt we would get that right, less sure about getting Lilithia right so that leaves just the imperial soldiers even if they might be the local version.

[x] -Immediately pulling out her sword.
[x] -Created an illusion, a legion of Imperial soldiers, recalling what Vivi had told her about Sophianity.

Juushi: The Spirit Gun.
"Now you shall cease to know what is reality and what is fantasy! From the depths of my soul, Sakkakuhime!"

The situation being more than dire enough, this being a Hannya, Sachiko drew her blade and donned her shining armour. Leaping backwards as an array of thorns sprouted out at her, she then called forth "Legions arise!", and in front of her an elite guard of large-shielded, sword and spear-bearing soldiers strode forth.

However Sachiko, only having heard from Vivi on occasion about the soldiers of the Empire that'd executed Sophia... had done a fairly smudgy job of recreating them. The Hannya may've paused at first, but upon blinking it eyes did not show the slightest sign of fear, and began effortlessly knocking away these conjured troops with her thorny vines. Upon discovering they'd been turned physical, she even used her thorns to puppeteer a few of them, setting them back on Sachiko.

Not that these soldiers were useless though, as they'd managed to buy Sachiko time to leap back and toss fireball after fireball at the thorns, following that by launching a thunderbolt a the spewing-out holy water to counteract it.
But before she got the chance to run up with her sword, she felt herself being gripped then flung to the ground by a series of what felt like... long bandages.

Sachiko struggled to roll over, managing to glimpse the hollow-eyed, maggot-strewn spectre of Maria hovering above her, with a few of those maggots crawling down the bandages towards her. Sachiko however escaped these bandages, first by burning them with fire spells, then by being able to reach her sword and slice off any left.

She then ran towards Maria, cutting away at the long strands leading up to her as she sprang up with her blade. However as she was about to hit Maria she sensed something coming up behind her, spinning around she could see it was a few of her own conjured soldiers that Isabelle had turned against her.
Sachiko instantly dispelled them, but in that moment of distraction Maria was able to wrap her bandages around Sachiko's neck. However the ronin then heard a loud blast from behind her, her no longer feeling strangled she turned around to see the Yamambushi Nagisa cocking a musket.

"You see? No ordinary bullet that was" she flashed a grin, making Sachiko notice the glowing silver sphere now lodged in Maria's back.

"I've tried storing magic in a gun, but this..." Sachiko muttered "This is something else! It's like, you didn't just use the kami of the bullet, you used a kami as a bullet!".

"Yep, took some convincing, but I pulled it of" Nagisa now looked very pleased with herself. "Ah, anyway, no time to chat!" that expression was then wiped off as she called out.

Though Maria might've been down, though with resurrection you never could tell, Isabelle's Hannya showed no signs of stopping. With a screech she summoned a whole host of villagers from their beds, all of them slowly moving up the mountain path with thorns through their heads.

"Nagisa, hope you have more where that came from, 'cause we're gonna have to finish off this Hannya quick!" Sachiko shouted loud "Before she tries to get us to kill innocent villagers...".

The puppeteered Yoshinaka upon the two, Tenshi at first flew up, swinging around his noose lasso fashion as he tried to get a good aim at the Oni.

Vivi, quickly seeing that Tenshi was aiming high, set her sights low and began firing rounds of leftover magic bullets at the Oni's feet. It wasn't easy to land a hit, what with the Oni's criss-crossing iron clubs, and what hits she did land looked to do little to no damage.
But they did get Yoshinaka focused on the ground and at Vivi, giving Tenshi the chance to rope one of his fellow villager's clubs with his noose. As Tenshi intoned what sounded like part of a prayer '...from the Teachings, let it meet the Traitor's End", the lassoed club promptly burst into an explosion.

Seeing this, Vivi began strafing to the right, for with Yoshinaka's eyes remaining on her, and with her quickly jumping over any shockwaves the Oni made with his remaining club, Tenshi was able to fly over to his left ear. The priest muttered again "...For the price of treachery to our Lady, turn this power against its source", and a silver light pierced into the Oni's ear.

The thorn inside Yoshinaka's brain started rapidly wriggling around, and even though it didn't come out, it had made Yoshinaka now cease attacking the reporter and priest. The Oni then turned around and started walking, still not looking in control of himself, back towards the Tomb.

"W-what'd you just do to him?" Vivi blurted out.

"Those silver coins act as an amulet, making black magic go against its original caster" Tenshi said floating to the ground "As for the noose, I used it as a focus to re-enact a, a sort of 'Miracle' you could say, from our Teachings".

"Oh yeah, remember the part what you're talking about now" Vivi tried to give a laugh "Man, that was one, er, grisly scene, surprised that as a Priest you'd ever want to go for something styled after... that".

"It was still a crucial step on Our Lady's Path of Sacrifice, nevertheless" Tenshi said in return, only for him to stare open-mouthed at the rest of the villagers heading towards the Tomb.
"Sachiko and the Yamabushi are both there, correct?" he stated "Come, we must hurry to their side!".

"W-what? But shouldn't we head back to your Church, load up on Relics or Prayers or, or something?" Vivi exclaimed back.

"Afraid only the Lady's Grace can be our shield and sword against a Hannya" Tenshi said with steel in his voice "All the more true, since I've nowhere near enough Coins to reverse control over that much of our town".

"Hah, going in without a plan?" Vivi had to glare at him. "Ever heard of God helping those who help themselves? Faith alone won't cut it!".

[ ] "We'll run up to that Hannya, then run away and hope it follows us into its 'Hell'. It may know the place, but at least it'll have less room to maneuver there".
[ ] "You were able to turn the controlled Oni against the Hannya? Good, now let's attack the Hannya from the back while the Oni distracts her".
[ ] "Your church has its own bell, right? Can we ring it loud enough to distract that Hannya?".

QM's Note: Just found out, if according to an Internet translator, that 'Sachi' can mean 'Mischief', while 'Baishou' (not to be confused with 'Basho') can mean 'Reparations' or 'Amends'. This is despite that I only chose the name 'Sachiko Baishou' for something with the S.B. initials. Now the 'Mischief' part makes obvious sense, but the 'Amends' part won't completely until a bit later on.

Something else I wanted to talk about earlier, but I thought I should wait until this Quest was already established for a bit before bringing it up, as I wouldn't know if I was jumping the gun a bit otherwise. Namely my Omake Policy.

Basically I'm fine with and appreciate them, however I won't be offering any greater rewards for them other than making a few Canonical. Partly because this Quest is pretty mechanics-lite, and partly because handing out rewards for Omakes personally feels a little too much like I'm bribing people for fanfics.

Juugo: False Messiah.
"What the-? Hey, do I look like some pincushion?! Oh right, I see your point" Nagisa eventually sighed as she braced herself, sinking into mediation as the Hannya's thorns and villager's kicks battered at her.

As Nagisa resisted all those blows, Sachiko created four illusionary copies of herself, which Sakkakuhime then gave form. The four fakes and one true circled the Hannya, two jumping up to try and slash at her nailed hands, one of them trying to slash near where that spear had already struck, and two coming around her back.

It did look like, the Hannya being forced to focus on six places at once, it didn't have enough thorny tendrils for all of them. It was then, as the copies were about to fade out, that the real Sachiko came from behind and slashed right into the neck of the Hannya. But as blood poured out, so did scalding 'holy water', which Sachiko felt trying to burn her eyes out upon contact.

The fox maiden fell unceremoniously back onto the ground, still reeling from the sharp pain in her eyes. But fortunes swung back, as Vivi ran and Tenshi flew around to either side of Hannya, pistol and noose at the ready.
Sachiko's could've almost exclaimed as she saw Yoshinaka the Oni coming back towards her, but Vivi then called out to her "Don't worry, Tenshi says he's on our side now!".

Sachiko had to narrow her her eyes at that, but it did seem to be true, as the Oni then raised his club at Isabelle. The Hannya however simply dealt with him by, with another shriek, raising the corpse of Maria Cruz back out of the earth, her bandages then tripping up the Oni.

Trying knock down the foundation of this house of cards, Tenshi tried to hold the Hannya in place with his lasso. The hannya in turn easily broke free of it, but the priest still bought Sachiko and Vivi enough time to strike her dead-on with sword and pistol.

"Heretics! You persist with your blasphemy?" the Hannya hissed. Stomping furiously down at the ground, she then managed to create a rockslide that soon knocked Tenshi, Yoshinaka then Vivi off the cliff, though at least the Oni on the ground ended up cushioning the reporter's fall. But while those three may have been hardy or lucky enough, many controlled villagers were all too quickly crushed by the rockfall.

Nagisa was only still up on the ledge because of her intense Yamabushi focus. Sachiko meanwhile, agile enough to dodge and her sword sharp enough to cut the rocks that came at her, shortly got the idea to try knocking one of them over at the Hannya instead. Better yet, she waited until that resurrected (more like reanimated) Maria was in-between her and the Hannya, then quickly conjured a shield that bounced a particularly large boulder off at Maria, which in turn launched her straight into Isabelle.

As both hannya and minion were sent flying off the cliff, Sachiko ran up and tried tossing any more rocks down at them. This soon showed itself as not the best of plans, as one of the falling rocks hit Sachiko directly, sending her down into the rockslide with Isabelle's Hannya.

The crumbling mountainside pushing both ronin and demoness ever downward, once Sachiko regained consciousness she kept leaping upon rock after rock to slash once more at the Hannya. At least she tried to, but with the rockfall now near the entrance to 'Hell' that bank of fog sprung up, cancelling any jump other than a leap of faith Sachiko could've made, and leaving her running like on a treadmill atop a single boulder.

Both having ended up in the blood-red cave with stalactites like fangs that Isabelle had told the villagers was 'Hell', as soon as she caught sight of the Hannya, Sachiko immediately lunged at it. "You told them this was Hell? Hah, it is now... for you!" she screamed out.

Isabelle however didn't look the least bit fazed, as with a mere pressing together of her hands, one section of the cave's ceiling and floor, the one right behind Sachiko, slammed shut right into each other nigh instantaneously. Sachiko was now forced to keep on running, as the Hannya kept gliding deeper and deeper into the cave as any way out kept smashing itself together after the ronin. "Here your soul shall spend eternity, in these jaws of Hell!".

After what felt like hours of non-stop running, Sachiko reached where the dry part of this cave ended, with a pit then a black underground pool in front of her. There being no other way, Sachiko held her nose then plunged in, the water naturally was freezing cold, meaning Sachiko couldn't stop swimming for a second without risking being turned into an ice cube.

With her now struggling for the slightest bits of air and warmth, the situation wasn't helped as that Hannya's thorns, not affected at all by the cold, struck again at Sachiko. However, as Sachiko then saw the Hannya right in front of her, she tackled it head-on and pushed near a hole in the watery floor. This hole, shaken by all the sudden movement, trembled and then shot up a great geyser of steam, shooting both Sachiko and Isabelle far upwards.

The next thing Sachiko knew, she was treading water in the middle of Lake Funkako, the Hannya soon bursting up after her. The second it did though, it was pierced by a great shining bullet, this one patterned a swirling red and blue.
"Hey, just flew over!" an airborne Nagisa then called to Sachiko from up over the lake "Spirits of snow and volcano, makes one 'hell' of a shot, both fire and ice, ha ha!".

"Hehe, yeah, but I call dibs on the final blow!" Sachiko called back, as she swam to the caught off-guard Hannya and drove her sword through her eye and into her skull, then drew it back out to then watch the wounded Hannya sink to the bottom of the lake.

"Isabelle" Sachiko then stated, any cheer gone from her voice "When your soul ascends, may it find the forgiveness in the world above, that Himikoku couldn't show you in this one".

* * *

"Vivi, you alright?!" Sachiko dashed over in the blink of an eye to her battered friend.

"Yeah, it's... okay, I'll be fine" Vivi groaned, clutching at her badly bruised head. Tenshi and Yoshinaka however were unable to speak for themselves, for even though their hearts still beat, both had long been knocked unconsciousness.

"Yep, that hannya's sleeping with the fishes! Though of course Miss Samurai's glory-seeking here meant she had to be kill-stealer" Nagisa then scowled upon landing. "Oh yeah, these guys look, er, pretty badly beaten. Still, no problem, I know some arts that can see to their wounds, though..." she then looked over at the many villagers who'd had an even rougher time with that rockslide "I, still don't know if I'd have the power to see to this many people" her voice gulped, then lowered to a whisper.

Looking down at the Tengu priest and the Oni guard, Sachiko decided to-

Hm could Sachiko like lend her power to Nagisa to help more people?
Said power would be largely used up, her having just fought a Hannya. As would Nagisa's a bit, but Sachiko moreso. There's also that Nagisa tends to work channel souls/kami from nature, not from humans (or kitsune in this case).

Not ruling that out though, just saying this is something to keep in mind.

Juroku: A Fond Farewell... and a Fearsome First Impression
As Sachiko hung her robe out to dry she then, entering a small room at the back of his church, went to stand over the resting Tenshi and watched his eyes gradually flicker open.
"W-what happened?" he slurred as he tried to wake, only having a candle to shed light on anything. Soon after though, his eyes shot wide open as he gasped "The Hannya, and my townsfolk! Are, are they-? S-Sachiko, you're unclothed!".

"Hey, it's okay" Sachiko nuzzled up to him, slowly patting is wounds "Tenago, its villagers, and the people passing by, won't have to fear that Hannya anymore". She gave a great smile and said "We beat her! Wasn't easy, but Nagi and me sank her to the lake bottom, with a-" she imitated some sword slashes "-from me and a-" she made pew-pew noises and mimed firing a musket "-from Nagisa. That I fell into the lake also explains why my clothes are hanging up right now" she then purred, tauntingly covering herself with her tail and hair.

"Sachiko, I..." Tenshi gulped then blushed, then changed the topic "I, er, do notice I'm nowhere near as wounded as I thought I'd be".

"Oh yeah, you've got Nagisa to thank for that" Sachiko smiled, pointing to a mended scar on Tenshi's chest then to a similar one on her shoulder. "She did a great job trying to heal everyone back to normal, even if she only had so much power...".

"Then many more villagers must still be in pain. I must attend to them!" Tenshi exclaimed as he tried to get to his feet, but Sachiko stood in front of him and beckoned him back down.

"Hey, even with Nagisa's healing you still need your rest" she cautioned him, her hand by his face.

"I- I suppose you're right" Tenshi muttered as he lay back down, though he still fidgeted a bit when she saw Sachiko looming ever closer.

"Um, Tenshi-kun" she said, blushing from being so close to him "You did say before, that as long as it's True Love, God would be okay with it...".

"Sachiko no" Tenshi had to insist. "It-it just wouldn't be, a-appropriate".

"B-but Tenshi, I..." Sachiko then stumbled with her words "I like you, Tenshi, I like you a whole lot!". Her slight blush had blossomed into a blooming scarlet "But... okay. I can see I'm bothering you, I should just go".

As she grabbed the doorknob, Tenshi, overcome with emotion, then called out to her. "N-no Sachiko, I didn't mean it like that...".

With Sachiko's ear twitching as she heard that, she smiled wide, ran back and then leapt into Tenshi's arms, cuddling him tightly. "Oh Tenshi, you mean it? Thank you thank you thank you, I love you so much!".
Her hands then feeling his chest, Sachiko gave a trembling Tenshi a kiss that must've lasted minutes. When she at last pulled away, she licked her lips and swooned "Oh Tenshi... Tee hee, we're gonna have so much fun".

* * *
"I..." Yoshinaka sputtered as, walking with Vivi, he saw Tenago's now ruined buildings, uprooted trees and residents lying prone. "I was guarding something a monster like that?".

"Don't worry, this wouldn't be the first time someone's tried to manipulate the good name of Sophianity" Vivi spoke up, her human arms still needing to help Yoshinaka stay upright. "Just- just don't let this try to wreck your faith, okay? That thing might've called itself Sophia, but trust me, the real Goddess is still out there somewhere. Hell, we probably have her to thank for us even surviving that attack".

The Oni just sighed, and trying to stand on his own then helped lift a fallen door back into place. "Hey thanks er, Vik-tor-ri-ah was it? Just got no clue how Tenshi's gonna explain this everyone. So uh, you said you were a 'journalist'?" he then asked.

"Yeah, my job is- how do I explain it? I basically go around collecting interesting stories, sometimes asking people things, for a paper, er like a book except shorter and flimsier, that comes out every month" she eventually went with. "It's why I'm here in Himikoku and following around Sachiko, what with this being a pretty distant place to us Leiferikans, and a Samurai like one of our Old World's Knights but still around today".

"Hmm, I don't like the sound of this 'newspaper'" Nagisa's voice then rang out suddenly, as the Yamabushi then flapped her way down in front of Vivi and Yoshinaka. "You ain't gonna be 'reporting' anything on me, are you? 'Cause lemme tell you something, Yamabushi arts aren't for the outside world to know, we've got some very important trade secrets goin' on here!".

"N-Nagisa, oh no, of course I wouldn't" Vivi bit her lip.

"Hmph, good" Nagisa snarled and turned her back on them, before she muttered "B-besides, I kinda don't want more people knowing about me especially. I mean, I first took to the mountains to get away from all that people stuff".

"Understood" Vivi nodded. "Okay, guess for now we'd better be helping Yoshinaka with repairs around the town. Hey waitaminute, where's Sachiko? Shouldn't she be out here by now- Oh don't tell me she's off screwing Tenshi".

"Wait what?" Yoshinaka gaped "Bah, Tenshi's too holy to succumb to any kitsune charms!".

"Oh ewwwwww, gross gross grossgrossgrossgrossgross!" Nagisa then spat out at Vivi's words, wiping her tongue clean.

"Come on, gross?" Vivi then had to laugh at her. "Yeah, I'll say it's mind-boggling how Sachiko seems to be the boy-magnet here, but Nagisa, aren't you a bit too old to be pulling the 'boys are icky' routine on us?".

Nagisa's only reply to that was glaring straight at Vivi.
* * *
The sun was already high in the sky that next day, not that the village's mist had cleared up any. At Tenago's outskirts, Sachiko and Vivi stood waving goodbye, a large scuttling kabuto beetle coming their way.

"Aww Tenshi, you mean you don't wanna come with us?" Sachiko pouted as she clung onto the priest' robes.

"Um, no Lady, that is Miss, ah Sachiko" Tenshi then stammered, but cleared his voice and said "I was forced to play a part in deceiving the people of my village, taking flight would only be me turning my back on making amends. I hope you can understand".

Sachiko thought that over, as she mumbled "Yeah, yeah I guess so. Because you've got a home here, a place you can call your own, while I- Uh, anyway, don't you be forgetting me, Tenshi~! Mwaah" Sachiko then kissed him goodbye.

"Whoa, seriously? Oh yeah, thanks for all your help!" Yoshinaka then bowed.

"Hey waitwaitwaitwaitwait!" a shriek rang out, as Nagisa then came speedily flying her way onto the now just leaving beetle, making somewhat of a crashlanding.

"Oh cool, Nagi-chan!" Sachiko then grinned "Oh yeah, you're a wandering hermit, so guess you've got someplace in mind? Ooh, is it Muro Shizan?".

"Hmhm, the very same!" Nagisa picked herself up and nodded.

"Muro Shizan? Er, I'm guessing that's some Yamabushi holy site then?" Vivi inquired, taking notes.

"Some Holy Site?" Nagisa frowned, then proclaimed "The four mountains of Muro Shizan are one of the, if not the, sacred-est places in Shugendo! So yes, I am... I've actually been kinda slacking off on my pilgrimage there for some time" she then backed off a little.

Sachiko then chimed in with-
[ ] "Ooh I know, how about we tag along with you on the way there? Vivi and I were just wandering around honestly, so we could use some defined goal".
[ ] "That does sound pretty cool. Don't think Vivi and I will be able to accompany you all the way there, sorry..."
[ ] Write-in.

"Er, okay I 'spose" Nagisa mumbled.

"First stop Shibori City though, judging by this map I've been given it's on the road to Muro Shizan either way" Vivi brought up. "Will need to stock up there too, since there wasn't much to buy in Tenago".

The kabuto then made its way along the ledges, ridges and valleys heading further into the Land of Dragons. While the peaks were still entombed in snow, the lower slopes were now covered in flowering cherry blossom trees, viridian grass and flowing streams.

Hours later as they came to a rest stop, the three of them, along with one or two other travellers the kabuto'd picked up, had lunch using the map as a picnic blanket under the cherry blossoms. With Nagisa then taking this opportunity to stretch her wings, Sachiko soon took Vivi to commence another sword-training session.

"Alright, this time we'll be working on-
[ ] -Jodan no Kamae, the High Stance. Whack your enemies on the head!".
[ ] -Chudan no Kamae, the Middle Stance. Strike your foes through the heart!".
[ ] -Gedan no Kamae, the Low Stance. Trip your foes up!".

Some time later, the kabuto stopped at the large gates of a city bustling enough to sharply contrast with the wilderness and villages of the travellers' last few days.

"Shibori City, heart of the Yamiuma Clan's Domains!" Sachiko took the chance to announce. Playing the role of tour guide, she then went on "Ooh, they say the Yamiuma, the Clan closest to Death's Door, have become cursed after centuries of having to resist the corruption form that Dark Realm, whoo!".

"Really, don't you need a campfire for ghost stories?" Vivi chuckled. "Anyway, first thing is to get supplies. Now, what we'll need most is-".

"Oh oh, we're going shopping? Great! I'm gonna get the prettiest of dresses, and then I'm gonna get a special hand-crafted fan, and then- oh sorry" Sachiko's energy then dropped "Forgot I'm no longer with the Amano, can't exactly go on shopping sprees like the good old days...".

"And who do those 'good old days' have to thank for ending?" a voice from out of nowhere snarled. The three journeyers jumped at its sound, with Sachiko looking the most shaken by it of all.

"E-Erika..." she stuttered out.

"Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth! Count up their crimes, Ouhikuro!" that voice boomed out.
Faster than the eye could see, a woman with silvery-blue hair, black-and-white armour covering her muscular form and a visor shielding her eyes appeared before them, carrying in her hand a greatsword blazing in the sun.
"So Sachiko, serving as the blade of a Foreigner and a Hermit know, are we?" this Erika's voice hissed like grinding steel. "Yet would they want anything to do with you if they knew the truth?".

"-The Hell? Sachiko, who is this 'Erika'?" Vivi spoke up.

"Hah, people are always hiding something" Nagisa grumbled.

"That's Her Highness Amano Masako Erikahime to you, peasant" this Erika hissed out. "Though tell me, has Sachiko told you some sob story about how some demons or rival clan or whatever murdered her Princess?".

"Erika, no! Leave Vivi and Nagisa out of this!" Sachiko tried to cut her off.

"I knew it! How pathetic" Erika's words came out like ice. "Well if Sachiko wants to find the one who murdered the Head of the Amano Clan, my mother, all she has to do is look in a mirror!".

"S-Sachiko? W-what is she saying?!" Vivi blurted out.

"Wait please, I can explain!" Sachiko shrieked.

"Feh, you already had your chance. En garde!" the silver swordswoman announced.

[ ] Sachiko, knowing Erika wouldn't back down, drew her own sword.

Also, remember how I said earlier that Sophia Salomonis was supposed to be a Magical Girl equivalent of Jesus? Well in my research I came across this particular Bible verse, which states:
Galatians 3:28 said:
There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

"As you set our castle aflame, so you too shall be devoured by fire!".
Touching her sword to the ground, Erika was able to make a vast inferno burst upwards, which a stumbling Sachiko had to quickly leap down and roll backwards to not get engulfed by.

"Vivi! Nagisa! Get out of here!" Sachiko called out to the other two travellers as she kept running from Erika "It's me she wants, not you!".

"You heard her!" Nagisa then leaped up and perched her talons onto Vivi, lifting the reporter up and away before she had time to say anything.

By now Sachiko was dashing in and out of the throng of people that crowded Shibori's dusty main street. But amid vendors shouting for customers to come in to their stores and the town's residents and tourists chattering amongst themselves, one voice boomed out above all.
"You dare try to hide, Sachiko?!" Erika's voice roared out down the streets, the impact of her voice and her samurai armaments causing whole crowds to part, with Sachiko having to squeeze into the nearest alley to avoid being exposed.

Not that this will keep her off my tail long, Erika's visor lets her sense someone's Corruption and Purity, that unpleasant though came to Sachiko upon sneaking through the alley. Means illusions won't work either, hey wait what?. Sachiko then gasped as the shadows of the alley started swarming around her, shrouding her vision.

"For using the darkness to hide, your sight shall be hidden by darkness!" she could hear Erika proclaim from far off, letting Sachiko know exactly what was now obscuring her eyes. Steeling herself, Sachiko then made a leap of faith jumping off the walls and onto a railing on one of this city's buildings.
Still not able to shake off this darkness, Sachiko had to shoot out small electric bolts to determine what was another building she could jump next on to and what was just open air. She did so fast, as she could hear hurried footsteps bounding her way.

Jumping and stumbling on one railing after another, Sachiko found short time to catch her breath upon sensing she'd pulled herself up onto a small balcony. She could then pick up what sounded like an awfully heated discussion going on inside this building, talk of "The Yamiuma clan will not be forced to side between Queen and Empress" and someone saying back "So you say, but this is a conflict no Clan can stay out of forever!" and "Don't think of this as going against the Empress, just about quelling some uppity Southwest clans...".

Before Sachiko could eavesdrop in on any more, the whole balcony shook as Erika, dispelling the darkness she'd inflicted on Sachiko, now stood right over the fox maiden, sword at her neck.
"Speak your death poem, traitor to the Amano" Erika's steel voice snarled.

"You seem to forget
I obeyed Mistress's word
Else she went Hannya" Sachiko quickly whispered.

"D-don't pin what happened on me! You were still the one who killed my mother!" Erika screamed and brought her blade down. But Sachiko rolled away and dropped down from the balcony before the fatal blow, leaving Erika slicing right through the door and into the meeting of Clans.

"Oh my, what do we have here, an intruder!" one of the nobles inside immediately responded, laughing coldly at Erika's sudden appearance. "My Sensoukami and Hitorime Clan guests, I can at least somewhat repay you by disposing of this trespasser".

Erika looked up to see a white-robed, black-haired Yuki-onna staring down at her, about to plunge a sword of ice right into her. "L-Lady of a Yamiuma Clan, I beg of you, I never meant to barge in! I was merely going after a traitor to my own Clan!" she gasped then tried to speak at a calm tone.

"Yeah, I can vouch for her" one of the visiting samurai, a Hitorime Ryu, came in with "This girl does look like Amano Erikahime, that or a pretty convincing body double. I heard news of the Amano Clan's palace catching fire, so her story about a Traitor might add up".

"Indeed" came the murmur of another Ryu, this one of the Sensoukami.

The Yamiuma samurai withdrew her blade and said "Hmm, so you'd be of the Amano. In that case, please pardon my actions" she bowed and took Erika's hand "Our clan has, well, been through a lot as of late. But now tell me, about this Traitor...".

"Vivi! Nagisa! Down here" Sachiko called, waving her fan from down below.

Nagisa, long since straining from carrying Vivi in her talons, promptly let go and sent the reporter falling down into a cart of hay. "Oh come on! Was that really necessary?" a spooked Vivi exclaimed as she hopped down and swiftly tried to brush all the hay from off of her.

"Whew, take it you've finally lost the trail of that angry masked princess" Nagisa said upon flying down to Sachiko, not looking like she'd paid any attention to the reporter. "Though hey, what was all this stuff she'd said about you, er, killing your own clan?".

"A little tact might be nice for her" Vivi again hissed at Sachiko.

"No no, Nagi's right, this..." Sachiko hesitated "...This really is something I should've told you about earlier. I mean, I knew I might run into Erika again, I just never knew it'd be this-this soon" she then went quiet.

Vivi then walked up to Sachiko, biting her lip at first but then saying outright "Then tell us, what is it Sachiko?".

The fox maiden finally sighed and said softly "That story I told you about some demons and a Hannya killing my Mistress, that was, well, kinda true if you look at it from one angle. But mostly, yeah, just a big cover story from me"

Sachiko breathed in and continued "Amano Chinatsu, my former Princess... knew she was slowly turning into a Hannya, and so she asked Erika, her daughter and heir, and my friend and teacher... to oversee her ritual suicide before she fully lost herself.
But Erika just couldn't go through with it, and so I had to step in to slay Princess Chinatsu myself as she was growing all the more monstrous. Erika... still couldn't accept that her mother's soul was dead already, and so we fought until, until the whole Amano Castle got destroyed!" she came to an end.

Vivi and Nagisa both fell silent at Sachiko's story. Eventually Vivi was first to speak "Right, well if Erika's still in this city, we'd better get supplies then leave not a second after".
The three then spied someone about to post up what looked like a wanted poster, vaguely detailing the features of a kitsune. "Er, so yeah, supplies!".

[ ] Stock up on food and drinks.
