There wasn't a lesson for them to learn. Loki was just having some harmless fun with a couple of hapless mortals, he wasn't trying to teach them anything.
Of course while Loki did it for the lolz, Brun and Asrdid did spend a week and a half in each others shoes, that should effect them in someway. Heck Astrid is even teaching Brun how to defend herself.
I think Loki will give us a 'better' deceiving ability than the other abilities on offer, because he likes that kind of stuff. He's the Sly God, after all.

That is just the roll to determine Torvald's third childhood adventure.

[2] Investigating the rumours of a nearby seer.
[3] A tournament is being held for the youths of Torstenby.
[4] Running into trouble whilst exploring the countryside.
[5] Checking out an old burial mound.
[6] Escorting Sigrid as she collects materials.

While I am disappointed we don't get a tournament arc, this honestly seems like it might end up being the most interesting option, depending one who we find.
[X] Deceiving a foe.

Your wyvern hatchling is midnight black with hints of deep blue while the wyvern that hatched from Astrid's egg is a sky-blue tinted with gold. Both have the same yellow cat-like eyes and otherwise look alike. It has been a while since both beasts crawled out of their eggs, but it is only now that they are old enough for you to begin training them.
"You still have another couple of winters before they're large enough to fight," says Bjorn Knightslayer, Father's most trusted huskarl and Astrid's father, "And neither of you will be riding them until your twentieth winter. And they'll be intensive to feed. You'll need to supply a lot of meat to them, which means having the silver to pay for it or being willing to let them hunt in the wilderness."
There is tension between Astrid and her father. Not as much as there used to be, but Bjorn Knightslayer still doesn't approve of her chosen path in life. He has accepted she has chosen to become a shieldmaiden, but his continued disagreement means that the rift between father and daughter remains, keeping from growing wider rather than healing it.
"We don't take animal companions to the same extent that the Christians do, but that doesn't mean we are without some of our own," continues Bjorn, "I have a Steelfang and as you know, she is powerful enough to bite through iron armour."
You nod your agreement as you think of Bjorn's dire wolf, having met her on more than one occasion. Each time, you found her to be rather cuddly and friendly, but even then, you could tell that she was as dangerous as any experienced warrior in your father's hird.
"Wyverns are inherently more dangerous than a dire wolf, but the basics are the same," says Bjorn, "Bond with them while they are young so they'll care for you and recognise their authority. Alternatively, you can attempt to bond with an adult beast, usually by helping them in a time of need, or by breaking them in with force. I don't recommend that last one and not just in the case of your wyverns.
"Normally, an animal companion is like a member of your hird, a fellow warrior you trust to fight by your side in battle. If that sort of animal companion is like a hirdsmen, then an animal companion broke to your will is like a thrall. They'll obey you out of fear and because their spirit has been broken. They aren't useless, but they are about as good as a thrall. A poor fighter if their spirit is broken or an untrustworthy one if their spirit remains intact."
"I understand," you say while Astrid nods her agreement.
"Good," says Bjorn gruffly, "I'll be the first to admit that I don't have any first hand experience raising wyverns, but I know how to raise an animal companion. I might not do the best job of raising them, but I can promise you that I'll do a passable one."
"I'll hold you to that, father," says Astrid and you wince at the pained look that flickers over Bjorn's face.
"Anyway," says Bjorn, clearly eager to move on, "The first stage is picking names for them. Each of you will need to come up with a name for your wyvern."

Sorry about the shortness of this update combined with how long it took to write it. I had a bit of writer's block with it so I decided to keep it simple and focused on just the wyverns for now. I've been meaning to get back to your wyvern egg for a while now and now is as good a time as any.
Please point out any spelling or grammar mistakes that you spot. Please quote them in the thread and explain what you think is wrong so I know what you are referring to.
[X] Swordsmanship. Focus on your sword lessons with your father.
[X] Deception. You can get away with more if you could lie better.
We have a really nice sword, and our chosen boon is kinda just bad if we don't have some skill at lying. I definitely would've preferred shapeshifting, personally, but having grabbed the boon, we should get the skills to make use of it.
[X] Spend 100 Prestige on Hamr 4
[X] Spend 60 Piety on Hugr 3
In both cases, these are the best expenditures since they bump all three sub-stats, I think. Upping Agility would also be defensible (it's better value per Prestige, technically, than Hamr 4...30 points for a full 1/3 the benefit gained from spending 100), but we don't have the points to do both that and Hamr itself, and I'd rather do Hamr while we have the points (agility would be our next pickup thereafter). Meanwhile, upping Wis and Pre should definitely be done before upping Hugr again after this, but right now upping it directly is just flatly better (it costs the same and ups both of them plus Int).
I have no real insight or preference on Wyvern Names.
[X] Lightning Seidr. Continue learning to master the art of lightning seidr.
[X] Swordsmanship. Focus on your sword lessons with your father.
Deadman is right about being able to use the fancy sword we got, but iirc Advantage maths out to a bit over +3 on the Deception rolls, and currently we barely have better than than in our main combat skills, so I feel that we should focus on that
[X] Spend 100 Prestige on Hamr 4
[X] Spend 60 Piety on Hugr 3
Spending 10 more Prestige for +1 Str on top of these effects still seems better to me. Like, after Hamr 4 we definitely want to pursue at least Agility, but it seems like leaving a bunch of value on the table to not raise Hamr here.
