Magic Knight Quest (Surprise, you are a Harem Hero now, SV)

Wait this is a Deconstruction and played Realistically? Huh. Darkness tentacles.

Oh well looks I got to throw out most of my battle and fun plans as it goes along.

Though it won't stop me from trying to make us look like a fool yet a genius at the same time.
Comedic moments will still be there, and as a QM, it is up for me to decide where to make the comedic moments. When I feel it is improper, then I won't. Simple as that.

Like I said, it is not my intention to stop you guys from having fun, but zany and comedic moments have their own time and place. Please remember that.

I understand.

RoA sometimes influence me for the fun votes. I'll try to contain it next time.

Ah, a little late in voting... I'll be watching this quest for a while.

At any rate, there are a few spells I want us to develop, which would likely prove very useful for us.
  • Dark Cloud: Create a cloud of darkness that lasts for a few minutes without your concentration. Useful for when dimming the lights is not enough to stop the enemy from seeing; just be sure to know which way to run before you cast it.
  • Night Vision: Allows one to see in the dark, and possibly through their own Dark Clouds. As a darkness mage, we're likely going to be getting into conflict in the dark a lot, so we need to be able to see what we're doing there.
  • Detect Hostility: Detect those that have hostile intentions towards us. Gives us a heads-up if someone is either angry with us or about to attack us. Utility improves if it is made a passive spell.
That should get us through the early stages, at least. Still, we'd have to know of the spell creation process first before these can come into being, if at all.

1.6 Meet the Principal
[x] Brace yourself for the inevitable hand crushing.
-[x] Shake hand as firmly as possible without showing discomfort. Maintain eye contact.
-[x] Introduce yourself politely.

You look at the offered hand, knowing that the big hand of his looks strong. Well, better take the hand, so you shake the Principal's hand, bracing yourself for the inevitable hand crushing.

Welp, his grip is definitely strong. It feels rough and callused, as expected from a seasoned swordsman. Because the man is the Principal of Magic School Academy, you assume that he's also a Magic Knight veteran. Still, despite the strong grip, you shake hand with him as firmly as possible without showing discomfort. You also maintain an eye-contact with him before you introduce yourself to him politely.

"Good morning to you, sir. My name is Hongo Kazuto. It is nice to meet you," you say. "As a Magic Knight, I am young and inexperienced, so please teach me how to become one, a righteous Magic Knight who can protect the innocents and bring forth order and justice in this chaotic world," You finish with a polite bow. "Please take care of me, sir."

Hearing you introducing yourself, the man, Shoichiro, laughs heartily.

"Bwahahaha! Ain't you a polite one, boy?!" Principal Shoichiro exclaims. "You know what? You're making me feel old already!!"

"You are old, grandpa. You just turned sixty eight three weeks ago," Koharu says in uncharacteristically snide manner. Her eyes are narrowed as she looks at her grandfather disapprovingly.

"What?!" Principal Shoichiro exclaims. "Such cruel words coming from my cute granddaughter's mouth?! Can't you just at least show a degree of respect to me, your esteemed grandfather?!"

Smiling sweetly, Koharu says, "I will, once you start acting your age, grandpa."

"M-my granddaughter is being rebellious again! Nooooooooooo!"

Principal Shoichiro goes to the corner of his office, dark clouds hanging over his head as he huddles there.

"M-my granddaughter doesn't love me anymore... *sob* W-what did I do wrong in raising you?" The principal sobs as he sits at the corner.

"Now, now, Koharu..." Shirley says to Koharu. "Stop bullying your grandfather, will you?"

Koharu giggles darkly. "That's a horrible thing to say, Miss Shirley. There's no way I'm bullying my grandpa. As a matter of fact, I love him very much. After all, after my big sister, he's the only family that I have. It's just that he needs to act more mature and stop being childish. It's unbecoming for someone of his stature..."

It is quite jarring to see Koharu being so sarcastic and snide, after seeing her being shy and demure before. Perhaps this is how she acts while she's around her grandfather.

"Putting that aside," Koharu says. "Grandpa, will you stop moping and start with your business with Kazuto? It is an important matter, isn't it?"

Hearing that from his granddaughter, Principal Shoichiro rises up, turns around and flashes a smile. Any signs of him moping instantly vanish as he speaks.

"Ah, thank you for reminding me, my dear granddaughter!" Principal Shoichiro says. "Well, Kazuto boy, first thing first, welcome to Magic Knight Academy, Thebel Branch. As you know, this school is one of the Magic Knight Academies in this world, as well as the most famous. There are six Magic Knight Academies, and each of them is located on the artificial island that was made after humanity managed to fight back the threat of Cataclysm. All the islands are the only places that are safe against the monsters that are born from the Cataclysm."

Principal Shoichiro returns to his chair and takes his seat.

"Thebel, Arqa, Yabbashah, Tziah, Harabah and Adamah..." Principal Shoichiro continues. "Those are the names of all six Magic Knight Academies in the world, with Thebel being the most famous among the six. After all, Thebel Academy is the only Magic Knight Academy that has a student who manages to reach the rank 'Lord'," he says. "You probably already know about him, right boy? He's the Student Council President of this academy, Lord Celica Sylphil."

"Yeah, Shirley told me about him yesterday," you say. "So, when will I get my own Soul Gear? I heard it is necessary for a Magic Knight to have it."

"Bwahahahahaha! A little impatient, aren't you?! Well, you'll get your own soon, but first, why don't you tell us about what a Soul Gear is?" Principal Shoichiro asks.

"From what I have learned, it is a weapon that is made of a Magic Knight's soul that can be used in battles. Also, with a Soul Gear, a Magic Knight can do Soul Arts, the special techniques that a Magic Knight can use with his or her Soul Gear," you say.

"Good! It seems that you did your homework, after all! Yes, a Soul Gear is a weapon crafted from a Magic Knight's soul. Precisely, it is a portion of the soul that is forcibly pulled out of one's body and crafted based on its user's willpower," Principal Shoichiro explains. "The idea of separating a portion of your soul is dangerous, because it may cause serious injury on your soul. Inflicting injury on your soul is the same like accidentally destroying a part of your brain. You may live, but you'll turn vegetable if that's the case."

"V-vegetable?!" You stutter. You cannot imagine how it's like to be left in vegetative state.

"Yes, so in order to properly manifest one's Soul Gear, a help from the staff member of the academy is required. But, considering that your Affinity is Darkness, a rather dangerous Affinity to have, I have to do it instead. Of course, manifesting your Soul Gear on your own is doable, but it's incredibly risky. My role here to to make sure that nothing bad will happen to you while you're taking out your Soul Gear from your soul, boy..." Principal Shoichiro says.

[Soul Gears]
(The weapons manifested from the souls of Magic Knights. In order to manifest one, a Magic Knight has to take a portion of his or her soul and craft it into the shape of a weapon according to his or her willpower. Manifesting your Soul Gear on your own is doable, but is incredibly risky and may cause permanent harm to your soul. So, precautions have to be taken in order to manifest one.)

"S-so, it's dangerous, huh?" You muse.

"It's dangerous indeed, but if you follow the instructions and do everything according to the procedure, I assure you that you will be fine," Principal Shoichiro reassures you. "Now," he looks at his granddaughter and the Vice-President. "Koharu, Shirley, will you two pull out your Soul Gears? We need to show Kazuto here how they look like."

"Understood, grandpa," Koharu nods before she holds out both her hands.

"On it, sir!" Shirley replies before she holds her right hand up.

After they do that, their hand glows, or in Koharu's case, both her hands glow.

""COME FORTH, KIKON TSUBAKI!/FLEETING HYACINTH!""

You look at their hands. You can see a sword forming in Koharu's each hand. When she's done, you can see her holding twin swords. In Koharu's right hand is a katana with red-tinted blade while in her left is a katana which is noticeably shorter than the one she holds in her right hand, and this katana is pure white in color.

Then, you look at Shirley. Instead of sword, she has a bronze-colored buckler shield fitted on her right hand. You can see runic letters emblazoned on its surface. Somehow, her Soul Gear is a shield instead of a sword.

"W-wow..." You can barely contain your amazement. "I-I can do that too?"

"Of course, once you get yourself your own Soul Gear! Now, let's get started! First, hold onto this," Principal Shoichiro hands you a small metal rod. "It is to ensure that no interference can happen while you're taking out part of your soul to craft your own Soul Gear. And you better take a seat, boy. You better be relaxed so that nothing bad can happen to you. I'll channel my mana into your body to control your mana flow."

"A-alright..." You nod before you take a seat on a bench provided by Shirley a while ago.

"Good. Now, breathe steadily and calm down. Close your eyes if you want to better focus yourself," Principal Shoichiro instructs. When you close your eyes, you can feel the Principal placing his palm on your back. "Let's begin, boy."

...

You feel strange. You feel like floating in an endless space. A strange feeling of vertigo washes over you.

"Where am I?"

You wonder to yourself as you float aimlessly in your soul.

"Oh, it's my soul. Is this supposed to be my soul?"

As you float aimlessly, you feel a gentle tug on your arm. You open your eyes and see a person, whose face seems to resemble yours, only younger.

"Are you... my soul?"

The person nods and smiles.

"Is that so? Well..." You smile as well. "Will you be my blade?"

The person nods again. Then he says something. You cannot hear what he says, but you instinctively know what he's saying to you.

Then, the person's body glows.

"Thank you..."
He says before everything turns bright.

...

You open your eyes. You feel slightly lightheaded, but you feel like you have succeeded. In your right hand is a katana, dark purple in color, almost black. You can see mist-like substance radiating from its blade, almost like miasma. Weighing it with your hand, it feels right to you, because it is made of your own soul.

"Wow..." Koharu says in amazement as she sees your newly-manifested Soul Gear.

You remember what the manifestation of your soul told you earlier. It was the name of the blade you're currently holding. Smiling, you say the name of your Soul Gear.

"..."

And woo, another update! So, we finally get our own Soul Gear. I'd like to inform you guys that most, if not all Soul Gears are named after flowers. Elisabeth's is named after Hydrangea, Shirley's is named after Hyacinth and Koharu's is named after Camellia (Tsubaki). There are several exceptions, but in this case, I want our character's Soul Gear to be named after a flower. The naming scheme of Soul Gears is like Elisabeth's Twilight Hydrangea and Shirley's Fleeting Hyacinth. And Japanese name is encouraged, considering that we're holding a katana and being a Bushido. One suggestion is Shion or Wasurenagusa. In the end, though, the decision is yours.

And the next part is tutorial battle. Please look forward for it, good sirs and madams. Have fun!

[X] Shiragiku

White Chrysanthemum (Shiragiku, 白菊)
Represents Truth and Grief

Which suits us, since we are often misunderstood due to our affinity despite the truth being otherwise. (Hence a name of a white flower for a black blade)
And our key motivation for being a magic knight is our sister, who is now gone — Hence Grief and a tribute / commemoration for our sister

Any ideas for an adjective to match though? :O

You know, considering this is the Rage-Monster class, and its the sword that's most representative of that class... That and the fact that we do have some revenge in our heart...

So revenge, anger and grief all seem appropiate to me for this, angry grief at that.

Some play on midnight, or maybe taking my above thought and going with "Raging Shiragiku" although that only fits one half of its meaning... hmm...

Edit: Hidden could work nicely too.

*ahem*
Given that we're naming part our soul, we should choose a concept that we'd be proud of bearing.
Given that Kazuto currently desires to go full hero of justice... Hmm.

Gladiolus, perhaps - Honor, Conviction, Strength (of character). Google translates into -> Gurajiorasu
Protea - Courage? -> Purotea (ENGRISHU)
Peony - hotblood Maculinity/Bravery. ->Shakuyaku (This one seems pretty cool. Also the "king of flowers", which is fitting for a harem lead)
Snowdrop - Consolation/Hope ->Sunōdoroppu

...Apparently a blue rose is code for "do the impossible". :V

All in all, I'd go with the Hotblooded symbol of bravery and masculinity, the king of flowers...!

How about...

Another note: There has to be an adjective or other word paired with the name of the flower. If that word has not been decided yet, then I'll come up with that word to pair with the name of the flower.
