There are too many spiders. They need to go. Now.
You remove your left hand from your sword. Your fingers fly through the motions of the weakness to fire spell like it's instinct. The completed spell rays from you hand, bathing a swathe of the spiders. They glow dull orange for a moment and mill about, confused for a second, before surging.
You're facing a living tidal wave of spiders while their mistress laughs her head off. Urgh....
Without pause you start the gestures for your spark spell, if you can set even one of them on fire then that should deal with the whole debuffed lot of them.
You fumble it. Fingers just a little too clumsy to complete several intricate twisty flicks towards the end. The spell whiffs, a slight smell of ozone all you have to show for the attempt.
Why did we rely on magic we are shit at?
Well you aren't going down without a fight! You lunge at Medresi, ignoring the spiders since they're pretty weak. Her red eyes bulge as your first slash cuts across her lower arm. Before she can react the followup blow slices into her left leg.
"NO! NOT LIKE THIS!" Her shriek echoes through the white marble ruins. The quicksilver magical energy she's tapping into surges along her arm, coating it like a shimmering cocoon. With desperate speed you manage a slash along her hip. She barely seems to notice. Her eyes are partially rolled up in their sockets and she's chanting. You recognise the cadence, you've watched Morlia study her craft long enough to recognise what an advanced summoning sounds like.... at least in theory.
Then the spiders slam into your back, hitting like a hammer blow. You stagger forwards, face plate smacking into the protective cocoon before you can stop yourself.
The world explodes into white. You're blasted away along with everything else. Spiders crack and crunch, meagre cushion when you hit a ruined wall. Your front feels cold and while you can see Medresi, no longer coated in the quicksilver power but surrounded by a translucent bubble of it, your vision isn't clear. It's like you're looking through frosted glass.
Bringing a hand to scrub at where your eyes should be tells you why. The front of you, ice spike and all, is covered in a thick layer of ice. And it hurts, a hollow kind of ache that reminds you too much of when you ran afoul of that spike trap.
Thankfully your healing spell comes easily enough and you feel marginally better.
That's apparently the extent of your good fortune. A portal to the daedric realms tears itself open in front of Medresi, edges flickering and wavering like tongues of flame. Out of it unfurl eight, long thin black legs supporting the bulbous abdomen of a spider topped by the torso of a woman.
The spider daedra looks around and fixes on you. She smiles and you try frantically to remember which Prince spider daedra are supposed to serve.
"KILL IT! KILL IT NOW!" Medresi yells at her summoned daedra, pointing at you for good measure.
This is even less advantageous than before.

Pokemon Go is an insidious time waster and I don't even have it. Apologies for lateness of the update.
