This is probably because BDSM is such a major grouping. It's basically the entire "sex is power" theme - which means that just about any kink can be BDSM if it's done as a form of power exchange.

However, I'm not sure if "I want an equal relationship not involving significant power exchange" is what you actually intend to say here: there's a "stereotypical form" of BDSM out there, which tends to involve sex dungeons, whips, and people in tight leather, and personally I'm not terribly into any of that either. (Save possibly people in tight leather.)

Are you against the broader theme, its more stereotypical expressions, or both?

If you actually like all the options and want to see them all explored, it's both valid and meaningful for you to literally vote for everything. (This has the effect of making minority inclusions more likely, because the proportion of votes that are positive towards any given option is now higher. 2/3 is larger than 1/2.)

Well, I'd like to see some exploration of things and fetishes I guess that don't involve significant power exchange. I think it would also be meaningful for the protagonist to try something and then go "wow, I'm glad I tried it, but this x thing isn't my thing." That's the point of exploring right? Finding out that there are things you both like and don't like?

I agree on both counts: power exchange isn't the only sexy thing out there, and it's not really exploration if you know what you're going to find.

This probably has to due with the fact that BDSM is one of the few extremely organized kinks and probably most recognizable kink out there like there is a leather pride week and its ending in the Folsom Street Fair is one of the largest outdoor events in California and if even if it is a terrible showing depiction of bdsm, 50 shades of grey has help put bdsm in the public's eye over other kinks.

Which is disappointing considering how many kinks there are and how neglected some of them have become.

And on that note, let's take a look at the voting so far:
Total Voters: 17 (Khona Moshr, wingstrike96, DreamerGhost, Derpmind, Wolfnight, Antix_Shadows, Uncle, Terrabrand, Darth, Sonata, Tulip, HeWhoAdds, Veekie, DeepWaters, Vocalend, Chronobreak, zero_breaker)

The Art vote is clearly in favor of "Art is Fun", but "Art is Intimate" is putting in a strong showing as well. "Art is Challenging" has some support, but isn't making the 1/4 cutoff for minority inclusion.

The Science race is much closer: "Science is Weird" is just edging out "Science is Beautiful", and "Science is Intriguing" still has enough votes for a minority inclusion. It looks like the Science theme has very strong support overall.

As for our heroine's Issue, it seems clear that she's a virgin: it's also quite likely that she doesn't understand the broad themes of her sexuality very well. She might or might not be ashamed of one of her kinks, but she definitely hasn't fallen prey to any major misconceptions about her sexuality.

Finally, her Passion. This one is still really up in the air! It could be just about anything: I can't even count out "a Cause" yet, as it could reasonably gather enough support to make the minority inclusion threshold.

We've already gotten more voters than we did in the first round, and not everyone who voted then has yet returned. Therefore, I'm going to leave this vote open for at least another 12 hours.

Body parts fetishes besides asses and boobs are pretty common IRL, but don't get much show in written works. They might get some kind of token scene, but it's usually a prelude to other things.

Well a few kinks I dont see alot of is muscle worship especially muscles on women, foot play that isn't about D&S, pregnancy it's usually treated as a consequence/reward of sex and few actually write about pregnant sex, tease & denial, food play, poly relationships, exhibitionism to name a few.
