Lost on a Death World (Worm, Celestial Forge, pseudo-SI)

It could be done. Not to that level of course, but we might have a dog as a urban legend who act like Squirrel Girl and beat down any villains encountered.
Could be funny, I'll see if I can.

... I simply don't know.
Ask the moderators because I really don't know why chapter 9 was repeated like that.
There was a massive cyber-attack in Europe, maybe it's because of that?

Nothing like that happened on any of my devices, as far as I'm aware. Perhaps SV was not satisfied with the rolls and tried to increase the word-count this way?

I loved this section. That comm protocol with 547 and ATCT was so good! It was so beautiful with the right comm protocol.
Looking good!
Good luck, StarKnight, over and out.

Comm protocol? Not so much. Rather cringe infact, esp. for a supposed Mil trained character. Common though.
It's also not best to look too closely at the aircraft fire through the lens of Physics and how actual airframes react.

Still enjoyable though, if shot through with handwavium

True, my comm protocol comes mainly from movies and RPG resource books.
And the funny thing is that I was a comm officer for 2 years in the French army.
Also true, I "fudged" a little with how a fire act on a plane. Bah, I used the "Superman Returns" plane scene as inspiration and we're writing fiction.
That said, if someone knowing how comm protocols work thinks using it won't impact too much the story, send me a "how-to" and I'll edit the chapter.

I'll try to remember later today, as I'm due on shift in a few minutes. That said "Hollywood"Comms protocol isn't that much of a deterrent for a power fantasy romp. It just isn't *correct*
To most untrained, actual RT protocol often sounds both clunky and clipped, so I can understand the desire to use a more audience friendly form.

As to the plane fire, most of your audience wouldn't notice. That said, a similar type of fire, in a less sensitive place (exterior of aircraft, without direct access to control wiring and hydraulic lines) brought down the Concorde in less than 60 seconds, with a loss of attitude control. Streaming fires are no joke.

But hey, if we didn't want handwavium, we're reading the wrong trope

I feel the chills when I watch this masterpiece. This is the comm protocol love I have. I guarantee that this is love!

Well, okay...
I decided to keep my comm protocol as it was.
No wonder they use that as inspiration for movies about accidents.
Maybe changing the end of the dialogue by their identification and editing out all the "over and out"?
What do you think?

First I wish to say I'm not in any way 'read in' on this in any manner. My 'expertise' is only fanboying. So if there's rules I'm not aware of then, which is almost guaranteed, I'm likely tripping all over them.

"Over and out" is typically not used together as I understand it. So it might be good to edit it out. Other things, well, *shrug* do what you want. I'm tempted to ask Aganippe what's cringe about it but they already said that TRUE COMM PROTOCOLS is a bit clunky to use for ease of reading. So it might be best to hand wave it a bit. What I like about your section is radio speak with not-Bastion level knowledge of communication protocols, analyze problems and try to come up with solution mid flight and thanking all services that helped in that incident.

The "over and out" is indeed the most cringe element, since it's an outright contradiction. The rest, well it would work for a member of public, but there are times of high stress where elements of protocol are left to the side.
Indeed in training, you are told that if you can't say your message per protocol, then use plain English.
Generally speaking, you would say who your message is for, your own callsign and then your message.
When you have received a clearance, you would read back that clearance data, followed by your callsign.

Certain words are avoided, such as "to", because they get confused with other words, such as "two". Example "Zulu Alpha Charlie, Mercer, climb 7000, direct TUCAN" would be correct phraseology.

The call signs *can* be committed when *immediately* responding to a transmission from *the aircraft you are talking to". Usually however they are not, for clarity.

The US only recently included the terms "MAYDAY" and "PAN-PAN" as emergency keywords per ICAO definitions, prior ( and still) using "emergency". This resulted in a serious incident in the early 2000's. US trained pilots are trained to use those keywords and "Emergency" together as a result.

As I said, for most of your audience, what you have is fine. Its "Hollywood Radio", and understandable to an untrained reader. It was the statement that the protocol was "right" or correct, that I objected to.
There are times where having the real world training, hurts your enjoyment of fiction. My Mother for example can't stand CSI type shows, because she is trained in forensic methods. If one was to ask her why, the only answer she can give ( that doesn't involve a number of multi hour lectures) is " The science is wrong".

The ultimate aggravation, still has to be " over and out" however.
The keyword "over" says I require a reply.
The keyword "out" says this exchange is completed, no reply is required or expected.
Combining them is kinda like someone asking your opinion on something, and when you go to answer screaming "DONT TALK TO ME"

I'll give it another chapter, but introducing Ponies has me by the door, coat in hand.
Sorry, but you'll have to complain to the random generator.
I grant you, I could have waved away the free perk giving the pony subspecies but I was already a lunar exalt and it was a recurrent joke to have the character burdened with humorous shapes.
Besides, it won't be a MLP story.

so a few suggestions

1. deal with the boat graveyard, you can simply work with Danny and the mayor pretty easy with your political pull

2. clean the sea of trash using the sea moth

3. make a self-produced merch stand on the boardwalk

4. go visit other cities, make tourism in other states nearby

5. hunt for treasure under the sea, and gold is still there

6. contact dragon about sending a submarine to Newfoundland

7. hunt more exotic animals

8. upgrade the fighter jet

9. contact the travelers to come to meet you in some small town outside of Brockton

10. see if hunting blastos creatures count for lunar

11. it is entirely possible that the Whydah hasnt been found or that some tresure still exist on oton the ocean floor

The 110-foot Whydah was commissioned by a London slave merchant in 1715. On its maiden voyage in 1716, the three-masted galley ship sailed first to Africa and then to the Caribbean, trading both goods and humans along the way. In February 1717, loaded up for its return to England, the Whydah was captured near Cuba by "Black Sam" Bellamy, who made it the flagship of his pirate fleet. Bellamy sailed the Whydah up the colonial American coast, capturing ships as he went. On April 26, 1717, the Whydah was caught in a violent storm and slammed stern-first into a sandbar about 500 feet from the shore of what is today Wellfleet, Massachusetts. Although they were within sight of land, only two of the Whydah's crew survived. At the time of the crash, the ship was rumored to be carrying the accumulated treasure of more than 50 looted vessels.

The Whydah and its treasure eluded discovery until 1984, when the wreck was located submerged under 14 feet of water and buried in about five feet of sand. In the years since, more than 200,000 artifacts have been recovered from the wreckage. A museum dedicated to the Whydah, the only fully authenticated Golden Age pirate shipwreck ever discovered and one of New England's most famous shipwrecks, opened in 2016.

12. pull a James Cameron and be the first person to show footage of the titanic

13. make a cooking show online

14. go camping in the woods with danzo

15. talk to the senator

Done, you'll see once my beta has finished the new chapter.
2. clean the sea of trash using the sea moth
Not practical, need something automated or with a large area of effect.
3. make a self-produced merch stand on the boardwalk
In the planning but not through this form.
4. go visit other cities, make tourism in other states nearby
Hmm... Giving me ideas as some sort of guest-star chapter where I went to other cities, meet people from another series, and help them. We'll see.
5. hunt for treasure under the sea, and gold is still there
Er... Why should I? I no longer have any problems with mundane raw materials, gold included. Perhaps old treasure? For possible magical artifacts?
6. contact dragon about sending a submarine to Newfoundland
She'll need a reason. Why should I send a submarine there? That said, I'm waiting for perks that would enable me to raise up Newfoundland and Kyushu.
7. hunt more exotic animals
I intend to use the Endbringers fight to later hunt in different countries. Australia and its fauna/flora are on the list.
8. upgrade the fighter jet
*blink* What fighter jet? I only have a power armor and a dismantled non-operational spaceship so far.
9. contact the travelers to come to meet you in some small town outside of Brockton
In the planning already. Danzou should intercept them before they encounter Accord.
10. see if hunting blastos creatures count for lunar
Hmm... It should since they are living creatures. Say, I'm not sure, but what kind of creatures did Blasto create in canon?
11. it is entirely possible that the Whydah hasnt been found or that some tresure still exist on oton the ocean floor
Possible, but the real question is since I no longer have money problems, what advantage do I have to hunt for such treasures? If they're potentially magical then yes. So, is real magic possible on Earth Bet in the past?
12. pull a James Cameron and be the first person to show footage of the titanic
I had an idea of doing that with space and planets but searching for such things is a good idea... Especially if I obtain the perk enabling me to make shipgirls.
13. make a cooking show online
Huh... That's an idea. Never thought of that.
14. go camping in the woods with danzo
I have something for next Sunday but that's a very good idea. Including, once we have the perks required for speed and distance, visiting other countries, especially Japan.
15. talk to the senator
*blink* About what? My projects for renovating Brockton Bay? Actually, not a bad idea, thank you.

If you're looking for suggestions on a pony name here's one.

Basil Balm

Basil sounds like a European name and is a herb used in cooking, it's also used in folk medicine in certain parts of the world so, Balm, a traditional form of topical medicine that even someone with hooves could apply. Hope you like it.

Oof... Shipgirls. I never could understand the attraction of them. They always came across to me like the unwanted/cringeworthy aspects of anime. Like the stuff that you do not like, but is always going to be popular because it attracts little kids and keeps them entertained.

1. finding buried treasure raises your PR considerably, its the cool hero that saved a senator and found sunken treasure

plus it opens you up for people to contact you for underwater missions, you are, after all, the only submarine tinker on the east coast, it brings you possibilities of contracts

heck archeologists may contact you from other countries to rent you submarine capacities, there are already businesses that do that with mundane submarines

---///---

2. blasto could make a really powerful creature just for you to fight
    • Woad Giant[16][17] - Grown in a vat within his headquarters over weeks.[12] Blasto was able to weave into the giant some power expression, so it would have enough durability to move.[18]
    • The Morrigan- pseudo-Endbringer composed using tissue samples from both Myrddin and the Simurgh, genetically merged using a complex fungus. Had it been activated, it would have needed time of days, weeks, or months to scan a subject or topic before being able to understand it at Simurgh's level. Likewise, its range would be limited and would be specialized towards scanning dimensions and energy/material/effect transfers between the real world and shardworlds[19]

so yeah he can make you like, an umber hulk or something to fight, the money alone is worth it, might need a new identity as a non-human fairy queen which is entirely possible but the bullshit of shards

and even if you didn't have money he would likely accept even the most basic of subnautica fish on a water tank as worthy payment

---///---

3. install leviathan class creature sensors in buoys around the coast

it cements you further as a submarine tinker and it gives you an independent warning system against leviathan

---///---

4. get an in with dragon by asking her if she needs the help of a submarine capable tinker to recover anything in Newfoundland, even if she has nothing she will still find

a good way to get your foot in the door if nothing else

---///---

5. maybe actually attack elisburg and kill the creatures in melee once you can quarantine any deadmen switches

---///---

6. catalyst for servents are still valuable things to acquire, some might be available for sale and money is no object for some of the most recent ones like an original Babbage engine

it's a good use of money if you have too much

this includes almost every north American or Canadian heroes

I especially would like to see black Bart as he is summonable in Newfoundland

---///---

7. hunt down Moord Nag, her creatures may be projections, but they might be huntable

---///---

8.actually, genesis might provide you with huntable creatures, even if it's the most painful thing she has experienced

she may do it too if you promise to heal her legs

9. actually the 3 blasphemies are tinker tech creations and count as targets for hunting

you may actually be the only cape that can permanently kill them

10. it makes sense to create an identity as the lunar exalt, as a weird Manton limited version of the faerie queen. heck not even a villain, just a more cut trough type of cape, it will get you a lot of bonus points
