Let's Jump to It! [Jumpchain Quest]

[X] "It hasn't even been a month and now I'm being ambushed again by criminals!? I haven't even finished my first vacation!"
-[X] Aim for an escape, never fight an enemy on their prepared grounds if you can help it.

[X] "Sigh, I suppose we can't talk this out, huh?"
-[X] Fight defensively. Prioritize opponents in order of defense(Fate first) and use them as cover from each other's attacks.
-[X] As a Combat Cyborg you're much stronger physically. Whoever comes into melee first gets to be grabbed and wielded as a shield or bludgeon
-[X] Use our old home's magic as well if it helps. Make them work for the win.

edit: should we reference our(Vivian's) origin?
as in something like: "I wonder when the fire will start?"
:p

Escape voters. We're inside a dimensional barrier. You need a Breaker attack to get through. We don't have the time to charge a Breaker

In her original world she is a very well known hundreds of years old magician that dedicated her life to magical research. However that does not mean she lack knowledge in science, it is her innermost wish is to merge both of those disciplines together as one, because she considers each of them is a valid way to view universe, thus vitally important if one wishes to understand hidden mysteries of multiverse.

I just realized this but doesn't lyrical Nanoha qualify for combining science and magic together?

We can't escape without a Breaker attack and as veekie said. We don't have time to charge up one when there are multiple enemies on us.
Its either we fight or we surrender.

Okay; In summary:
5 votes prioritizing attempting to fight defensively vs. 4 prioritizing Escape
5 votes complaining about being attacked by criminals again, vs. 4 votes complaining about the lack of communication.

... Hm... I think I have an idea.

Hey, it'll be interesting at least right? With this line up there's a fairly reasonable chance of lots of magical explosions.

yeah it would be interesting but in the Chinese sense of the word, which happens to scare me almost as much as people taunting Murphy. Welp nothing I can do about it now, time for us (Vivian and Eliza) to be absorbed into Nanoha's harem via Befriending.

I have an important question

Is this encounter happening on a Tuesday in game?

Because if it is, we totally should complain about tuesdays

"It hasn't even been a month and now we're being ambushed again by criminals!? We haven't even finished our first vacation!" You complain out-loud to Eliza.

"I know what you mean; Just once I'd like to be able to talk things out." She complains, seemingly catching on to what you were attempting.
[Manipulation UP: C -> C+]
While the Wolkenritters' expression doesn't change much aside from tiny winces, Fate's expression darkens, and she moves to charge forward. However, it's Nanoha's reaction that catches your attention the most, as the poor girl almost drops her staff as your words register.

Still, you don't have much time to contemplate reactions as an angry blonde is barreling towards you.

[Unison?: 48+15(Composure)=63 (pass)]
[Combat Round 1 (Defense): 72 +30(Wits/Dex) +20(Combat Training) +25(Unison)= 147; Req 100/120/140/160/180; Result: Level-3 Success]

You and Eliza quickly Unison before taking off into the air as the angry girl's scythe cleaves through where you were standing.

The others quickly move in to attack, but your words (combined with Fate's angry charge) seems to have caught them off guard. While you still have to dodge away from the melee attacks of the three Wolkenritter, they're noticibly off their game.

As you manage to (barely) dodge (and occasionally block with a reinforced part of your rifle) the swings of the multitude of melee attackers, you notice Vita's hammer coming in from the side. In a moment of mad brilliance, you bring your weapon up to block the blow and mentally alter your flight spell temporarily.

[Vivian's Health 199/200]

The end result is you getting launched away from the cluster of opponents and a perfect set up for a counter-attack.

[Combat Round 1 (Offense): 99 +30(Wits/Dex) +25(Belkan Magic) +25(Unison)= 169 (Minor Crit!); Req 100/120/140/160/180; Result: Level-4 Success & Minor Crit]

Your first target is almost a no-brainer; as the blonde was already charging towards your direction, firing a few shots as she did.

Your words must have affected her more than you realized, as she seems to have forgotten about defense.

"Spectral Light." You call out as your launch your buster attack at the charging girl.

She seem to take this as a challenge, and attempts to cut through your attack.

She even succeeds for about half a second,

Before your attack overpowers her defenses, and she's set flying.

[Fate's health 59/150]
Recovery?: 67+15= 82]
Unfortunately, she manage to catch herself before slamming into the building behind her, but you've successfully knocked her away and bought yourself some breathing room.
Tactics+Wits: 66+15+20= 101
Now what?
[] Try to burst though the barrier.

-Not enough time.
[] Have Eliza attempt to 'hack' the barrier.
-you will lose your Unison bonuses.
[] Attempt to disengage and hide
-[] Stunt (Write-in)

-They can detect magic use. Also, Shamal (who you haven't seen yet) has scrying-magic.
[] Try to keep fighting it out.
-You're only up against the Wolkenritter and two future Aces, what can go wrong?
[] (Write-In)
-Good luck.

Befriending [+100cp]
One way or another, whether through a misunderstanding or accident, you will inevitably be 'Befriended' by
one Nanoha Takamachi. You will lose the ensuing fight, conflict, or misfiring of her magic and it will hurt A
LOT. The good news is that this won't kill you and will only happen once - you'll even become friends with her
afterwards!
Let's make some new friends.

[X] Try to keep fighting it out.

We gotta trust in the Dice Gods. Believe in the you that believes in the Dice Gods.
If they're in our favor, we could even beat Nanoha as unlikely as that is due to her thick plot armor.

[X] Try to keep fighting it out.

Quite honestly, this is more the least bad option than anything else. Hopefully befriending will help us get past this...

[X] Try to keep fighting it out.

Although, we run the risk of our linker core getting drained...

Do we have a friendship laser? we need to fire the friendship laser.

Hang on, i was looking at our char sheet and saw that we have a +60 in using our homeworld magic, how does that work/would it help?

Good question. :)

Your homeworld's magic isn't nearly as powerful as the Nanoha-verse magic, but it's better at some of the more esoteric things. To name a few: healing, temporary enchantments/curses, transmutation, necromancy, illusions, & mental compulsions.

...Actually, looking back on it, I should have given you the option to heal the wolf-pup with your homeworld's magic... Whoops.

Anyway, most of them aren't particularly useful in direct combat compared to Nanoha-verse magic; for a number of reasons.
  1. Curses and mental compulsions won't make it though the firewalls that the devices have w/o hacking them first (not an easy accomplishment against any kind of quality device).
  2. Illusions can be seen through easily by a device's sensors.
  3. Transmutations can be detected, and direct combat applications aren't as useful as the local magics.
  4. Any elementals you conjure won't be strong enough to be anything more than a brief distraction, considering the power-levels involved.
The only real exception to these would (theoretically) be using necromancy for direct attacks against their life-force/soul, since it might be out-of-context enough to partially negate their defenses.

Of course, that might be opening up a proverbial can-of-worms...
