... Well, half veela are demonstrably a thing in Harry Potter, but I have to wonder if Rowling actually put any thought into her worldbuilding concerning there being a distinction between full blooded and halfblooded members of an all female species. What, do they reproduce asexually? Or are they like Asari and Veela can reproduce with each other despite all being female? Weird. (Yes, I know the answer is just that Rowling didn't put any thought into it, and if she had she'd probably come up with something terrible to explain it)Full blood veela yes. We know very very little about the species however. And they can mate with wizards, with no specification that that only produces female offspring.
Try not to quote entire chapters, the mods tend to dislike it.[X] [Half Human +200]

Depending on when this is, let's go get Fleur Delacour!!! (She deserved better in canon (more attention, her character had so much potential. And also the ending where every character marries a Weasley uggghhh!)
That's why I'm here. I sat down and watched the movies/read the books this year and got annoyed at the lack of worldbuilding.. (Yes, I know the answer is just that Rowling didn't put any thought into it)
Tfw you get shown a fascinating magical world through the eyes of a moody jock that doesn't give a shit about any of it.That's why I'm here. I sat down and watched the movies/read the books this year and got annoyed at the lack of worldbuilding.
It's more that Rowling skims over a *lot*.Tfw you get shown a fascinating magical world through the eyes of a moody jock that doesn't give a shit about any of it.
I'm kind of thankful she did. It let's the fanfiction community fill in the blank spots. If she'd followed the logic orphan interested in his family and had harry actually investigate his father's ancestry, we'd have tens of thousands of fanfics using the name Fleamont for James father instead of Charles or other more stomachable names, and that would suck. A lot fewer creative takes on magic and setting too.
The wizarding word was fine as it was when the books were aimed more for kids. That's why I'm here. I sat down and watched the movies/read the books this year and got annoyed at the lack of worldbuilding.
All the creation ones anyways.
It does make prewriting chapters difficult.
