Turn 12.4 - Arrival at Bornholm New
AN: Surprise!

0~0~0

Since this morning, when the sun rose amidst warm skies of hazy clouds lazily ambling along, there has been but a single thought on everyone's minds. As the Ice-Breaker slid across waters carpeted with thick mist, it's the only thing anyone cared to speak of, for little else could compare to what lay at the end of their trek.

Bornholm awaits; and, today- Today Audrey Eotenslaga makes its acquaintance.

"Bloody Bornholm," Alvis Jurgensson, the first—or second, depending on who you ask—member of Audrey Eotenslaga's retinue shivers as he pulls his cloak tight around his body, "Vitharr, please lend me your iron will."

A frown flickers at the corners of Sister Aalis' mouth, her eyes screwed in a tight squint as she works her dew-misted glasses with a soft cloth sourced from one of the many folds of her habit, "Forgive me if I misheard you, Alvis, but I was under the impression you converted to the worship of our Lord and Savior, no?"

Alvis grumbles, attempting to wave off Aalis' words—a gesture made meaningless with the heavy cloak hiding his hands, "When Jesus shows up to personally defend my cart from marauding wolves, I'll ask him-"

"Him," Aalis is quick to correct, her frown only growing more pronounced with Alvis' every word.

Alvis blinks, "That's what I said?"

"Capital 'H'."

Alvis squints but shrugs and carries on, "As I was saying, when Jesus shows up to personally keep me safe, I'll ask Him to do so. Until then, I trust Vitharr to have my back."

Standing at the Dragon-prow of the Ice-Breaker, with wind in her hair and eyes turned to the distance, Audrey Eotenslaga frowns as the half-heard words reach her ears, "Alvis, repeat your last sentence."

Alvis squints but does as asked, "...Until then, I trust Vitharr to have my back? That it?"

That- That just can't be right, can it? Audrey turns on the spot, giving Alvis her full attention, "You're saying you *met* one of your heathen 'gods'?"

"I mean, yeah?" Alvis' brows twist in confusion, "Dad sent me to deliver a shipment of beer to the Jarl, as had been agreed at last year's Thing," Audrey frowns at that, must be a mistranslation, "but I was attacked by wolves only for Vitharr to save me."

"How can you be certain you encountered this 'Vitharr'?" Sister Aalis' eyes stay narrowed even with the return of her glasses.

"Well, he had a massive boot, didn't speak a word, and suddenly appeared out of the forest, so who else could it be?"

"So you simply assumed that your savior was this 'Vitharr'?"

"Yeah? I'll say again, who else could it be?"

Aalis simply hums, glasses glinting in the sunlight, as a slight snort slips her nose. Nothing more leaves her lips, her silence speaking for itself as Alvis stares.

Audrey goes to open her mouth, only for her words to catch in her throat as the ship shift* underfoot. It doesn't jostle, no, nor does its motions match the ride of the ever-waves. This is a controlled movement, the product of a distant master's will.

The sails curl upwards by their own strength and the oars return to their homes on the floor of the ship. Silence reigns as all present watch with sweat-drenched brows and open-mouthed worry.

The Ice-Breaker's wood creaks, the frame pulled along as if by some unseen force. A twitch in the corner of the eye catches Audrey's attention, drawing her gaze to a single iron nail now angling ever-so-slightly towards- Towards *Bornholm.*

"M-my axe!" One of the crewmen cries out as he holds up the naked iron of his axe shining for all to see. The man's axe had taken more than a few bites from its edge in the battle, the chips rather obvious against the smooth cutting surface. Now, however, all present bear witness as iron grows and smooths out, forming a fresh, new, and utterly perfect cutting edge.

Something brushes against Audrey's spirit, the foreign touch landing upon a length at her hip.

Sunder!

Audrey's hand swiftly leaps to her sword, its edge soon greeting the early morning sun. To the naked eye, the iron remains unchanging, and yet...

Imperceptible flaws mend, miniscule cracks smooth out. Sunder's edge was perfect, there can be no doubt of that, but now... Now it is somehow perfect-*er*.

All across the Ice-Breaker, similar sights can be seen as men examine their arms and armor, finding each and every item renewed to perfection.

"The Master of Bornholm's greeting," Sir Reinald Vieux speaks with a solemn tone, breaking the ship-smothering silence with but a flick of the tongue, "We had best not keep him waiting."

Guided by nothing save the will of a single man, the Ice-Breaker gently climbs a crowded Bornholm shore, beaching itself upon the sands.

"Miss Eotenslaga!" A familiar voice reaches Audrey's ears as she steps ashore, the ample shape of Margh Grouse lumbering across the sands, "I see you have arrived in one piece!"

With idle worries vanishing when met by Margh's smiling face, Audrey allows herself a moment's relaxation as she greets her Cornish friend, "Greetings, Lord Grouse, might I ask how long I've kept you waiting?"

"Waiting?" Margh tilts his head to the side, confusion sliding across his face, "We arrived just a few minutes ahead of you!"

Audrey frowns, "That- That can't be true. You left a full week before I did!"

"The heathen magic of Bornholm's master, I presume," Sister Aalis says as she descends to the beach. Turning to Margh, Aalis offers a crisp curtsey as she bows her head, "Sister Aalis, of the Lady Eotenslaga's retinue. A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Lord Grouse."

"Likewise, Sister Aalis," Margh makes a swift bow of the head while shooting a question at Audrey with his eyes—a question that will go unanswered, for-

You who step upon Bornholm shores; you who would enter into my home

In the distance, at the crest of a flat-topped mountain, stands a shadowy shape only barely visible against the hazy darkness of the horizon. It shifts, as if taking a moment to bend its knees, before suddenly lifting into the air.

Across the sky it soars in an monumental arc, the shape growing ever-clearer as it closes the distance. With every beat of the heart, darkness fades with sun-kissed flesh and gleaming specks of iron taking its place.

Moments before impact, Audrey's eyes snap wide as she twists, covering the fear-frozen Aalis with her body. She can take whatever wave of force such a flight produces—Aalis, not so much.

And yet, nothing happens.

Audrey's eyes flick to the side, certain in the expectation of a crater, only to widen impossibly further.

The flex of muscles alone keeps the Lord of Bornholm from touching the sandy earth, the air itself beholden to the pinnacle of physical might.

Clad in nothing but nude slabs of musclebound flesh, as naked as the day he was born, Bram Ironjaw grins as he gently steps to the ground. Lips peel away to reveal glinting lengths of sharp iron sitting just before his lower jaw, the origins of his kenning the nine nails driven up through his jawbone and into his mouth.

A man like no other, Bram Ironjaw towers over even a ship's mast as he stands before the gaze of all those present. Each limb could hold up the sky, each digit on his hands is as thick as an entire man's body. With every breath that enters his lungs, his chest swells to unfathomable heights. A casual breath alone could fill the sails of an entire fleet of ships, the Heavens alone know what a full-lunged blow could accomplish.

Eyes, if they could even be called that, seem to drink in the light as they scan across the faces of all those present, somehow managing to hold each and every man, woman, and child's gaze even while looking elsewhere. There is nothing that can be gleaned from those eyes, not even where their master is looking.

Bram Ironjaw's smile widens and lightning flashes in a clear sky, his eyes creasing at the corners, "I greet you, o' competitors, with a single, simple request."

"Hit me with your strongest attack."

AN: Behold! Bram Ironjaw! The Notable Exception!

We have non-combat skills? Diplo, admin, the whole rest of the skill list except the "Combat" skill? Do you mean pick up new Skills like crafting skills and run them from the ground up or like Meditations to do specific stuff under those skills. As crafting stuff, thats really not our job?

Ah man,the GKB finale would have been very useful here.

I think as hard as we can is a GKB with rings, Sunder, and Zeal.

A GKB with everything should do at minimum of 420 damage, should be higher since Sunder's damage boost scales with the opponent, it is burning 7 Zeal though.

[X] Hit Bram Ironjaw as Hard as you can
-[X] Giant Killing Blow, Sunder's damage boost ability, Ring of Force damage boost, 7 Zeal on damage, Strength-of-Stone Ring to swing harder, Bouncing Leap to launch ourself for more speed, charge on Bradamante for more speed, Bradamante and Crowley use everything they can to boost the GKB swing. Bradamante running as fast as possible, maybe she can put water on the back of the blade to make it swing faster? No idea how Crowley can help, but maybe he can? Use Know Their Weakness first to see if there is a spot on him that is even slightly more vulnerable.

Well, we can't actually use our Finale either way, since he would need to throw his Finale first, and that would not be a good idea

I will ask that you not say such things, as Ironjaw was very, very clear with what he said.

Hit him with your strongest attack.

LOL, fair enough.

In case it isn't clear, IF's taking the wheel for much of this arc, I might still step in if he burns out to keep the expected schedule, but for the most part, he's the one driving the ship .

In this case only having a counterattack Finale might actually be really useful if our enemies assume we don't have a finale, and Bram can't take offense because we literally can't hit him any harder.

Edit: The speed boosts are because kinetic energy, ie damage, is mass times speed squared, and so before cultivator bs faster should mean more damage
Edit 2: added "Know Their Weakness" to see if he's squisher anywhere.

I think the reference is to higher levels in the existing non-combat skills, for the record.
