Fortitude and Pride let's go

The young girl gulps and hurries forward. Quickly bowing, she offers the item in her cupped hands without lifting her head, "I-I wanted to thank you for saving us, m-miss."
The smiling face of the Bishop flashes before Audrey's mind as the young girl blinks and the smile freezes on her face, her brows furrowed in confusion.
That's really sweet of the girl and honestly a very neat boost in the short & long term, since Hama is only going to get harder to raise.
Though now I'm quite curious what the response the girl was looking for was :p
Her first error was in closing too quickly; her opponent had no obvious means of striking her at a distance.
Tactics question-wise, would it have been better for Audrey to fight defensively / evasively and force the bandit to expend resources to close the gap? Though the bandit potentially escaping or Audrey's Superbia acting up could throw a wrench into things.
To allow criminals and plunderers to wound her or even scratch her clothing was an embarrassment in itself, and she must avoid a repeat incident in the future.

All the options fit well, though I like leaning towards the Untouchable aesthetic Audrey seems to be striving towards, using her family's martial style and Soma talent to parry and evade damage, while other forms of trickery splash off on her armor.

...Mechanically, having an answer to debuffs and/or poison is handy. Knights are endurance fighters and anything that can cripple our endurance or becomes deadlier with time is something we want some answer to.

In this case, I'd say no. The bandit was explicitly a messenger who Audrey was tasked with preventing the escape of. He might well have just left, and while she could have chased him, that would have put her on the offense anyway.

Other situations, that advice might change, though.

First fight was always going to be a bit scuffed, your plan was fine, it was mostly Audrey's personality faults and inexperience causing her to be too excited.

"Reject all that would corrode her form."

A fight that is won in four passes flawlessly is better than a fight won in two but with a loss.

I like the idea of Audrey being something Indomitable on the battlefield. Untouched by corrosion, corruption, fatigue, flagging will, toxins, or the tricks of lesser men. Poisoning, while dishonorable for Audrey, is something to be wary of from others of less scrupulous means and designs who do not chance to deal with her in battle or a duel.

Aura's or abilities that seek to create a flagging of Will, that seek to rob strength of either the sword-arm or the legs that hold the stance, or even merely something so base as a handful of powder to burn the eyes and rob Audrey of sight if I am reading this correctly.

While the strength of this ability is left vague for the moment it's foundation leads to the possibility to building up to such powers as a fairly linear progression.

Perhaps even to such fun abilities as becoming able to not only reject such abilities but many Decades and Beads hence to become entirely Incorruptible and Audrey's physical body one day achieving a state of near grace at least in her physical form.

I like this one, it seems like it will mitigate armor damage, which is great because knightly armor is very tough to begin with, and requires a minimum resource expenditure to touch, so letting it stay at peak effectiveness longer fortifies that strength.

While this is clearly best against pagans who have no means to restore resources in combat, but even against a peer being able to shrug off more attacks should let us break their focus before they break ours.

Alright, now that you've had plenty of time to absorb the setting, what are your thoughts on it?

I'm curious as to the other knights and their squires and seeing how they interact with "mortals" especially with like governors and stuff. Also curious about the churches and others institutions that support knighthood.

Overall most of the worldbuilding thats mentally stuck with me has been the characters, but i've been enjoying the chill vibes and cute mc hours myself. just waiting to see how things develop.

Enjoy them while you can! Things'll get exciting soon enough!

[X] Valiant Vanguard - To be the first to battle, to strike hardest and fastest, to let none escape her righteous

I feel this one fits her the most.

[X] Parry of God - To have your armor's blessing parry away all but the strongest attacks to leave the enemy open with no effort on your part, even if only once per fight.

Basically a potent defensive tool that will allow us to eat an attack at no harm while also letting us charge up a Giant Slayer to hit them when they're recovering from the rebound. Not sure if this is legal but it feels interesting and fitting for our play style and personality even as barebones as it currently is.

This seems like a fun quest.

So, this is vetoed. It's too powerful. These are generally supposed to be some sort of passive, ongoing effect and this doesn't work for that in any balanced way.

Mostly just because cleaning plate by hand is an absolute bitch of a job.

[X] Pinnacle-Climbing - To be unparalleled, to strive without falter, to never allow complacency to mire you.

Its kind of hard to tell exactly how much of Audrey's (delusions, let's be honest - her mental gymnastics are contorted enough for us to call them that) thoughts are genuine reflections of her self-perception and how much is played up for comedy, but she does seem to believe that she - if not now, in the future - is fated to be the best, or one of the best. This write-in reflects that goal (but I likely won't get enough votes anyways).

Anyways, its great to see this Quest and I'm quite curious to know specifically what Gabriel has gotten up to. Although, to be honest, Audrey is very grating. I've personally never particularly enjoyed her kind of character when played to such a degree, mostly because I can't get over how absolutely insufferable she would be if she was real. I don't know if all the sins would have been like this, but Superbia definitely feels very present in every moment, rather than a hidden/latent weakness that rears its head in the wrong situation. Hopefully this just means her character development into a more sensible/sane person will be more satisfying, but from chargen I got the impression that the sins were something we would never be truly rid of, so guess we'll see.

If years of reading questionable romance manga has taught me anything, the girl was hoping to acquire a Rosa/Etoile/Onee-sama of her own.

Unfortunately for her, Audrey has more important things to do. Like polishing her armour.
