[X] Plan: Mastering Fundamentals

I actually think our Combat is fine, but I think raising Giant-Killing Blow is the better idea.

[X] Preparing for Plate

I like preparing for Plate.
Prayer for Perseverance is very important because it's been made clear that one of the main advantages Knights have over most of their enemies is the ability to win a drawn-out fight. Being able to last longer in general is very important for that.
I'm not as sold on Darting Strike, but I also don't particularly favor any of the other prayers so I'm fine with that.

Specifically, I'm very happy with retaining 6 Zeal, as we can use that and the 10 of the next turn to stat up Hama. That will increase our Zeal gains by 2 every turn, and training gains by 4 per year. Training being less easily divided into the given turn per 2 months.

So, I have realized I never provided benchmarks. That is now fixed. There are some brief benchmarks for the expected cultivation level, stats, skills, and so on of a Chivalric Cultivator in the rules post, going up through full Knighthood.

Now, Audrey is already at the high-ish end of the 'fresh squire' benchmarks, but just so all you know some of the stuff you'll likely be expected to develop over time.

EDIT: Added the 'expected' ratio of Zeal spent on Decade vs. other stuff as well.

I have a feeling we're going to need some zeal in the tank for this, something just feels like f''kery is about to be afoot.

Can we get extra Zeal and Training on top of our annual replenishment?
For example if we win a difficult battle or succeed in a long term goal can we get Zeal and Training from them?

He knows about the trolls and didny charlemagnes legend involve going to the moon or something.
You are thinking of Orlando Furioso which involved Astolfo recovering the titular Orlando's (Also known as Roland) sanity from the moon via flying on Elijah's biblical Flaming Chariot. Because, as everyone knows, everything lost on Earth was taken to the moon including sanity.

Troll-Men are very real, though different from Trolls (you'll find out about both at some point, I'm sure). The Moon thing is more dubious, though who can be sure of anything?

You can, yes, but maybe not how you're thinking of it. Zeal, in particular, is an in-universe resource that can be traded or gifted among people, while Training can be increased by sufficiently dedicated instructor spending time and effort with you teaching you things.

Which is to say you don't get extra Zeal or Training for nebulous out-of-character reasons, you get it if you directly incentivize someone to give you a valuable resource or spend time teaching you things in-character, respectively. This will happen with good performance during your time as a Squire decently often...once you're a Knight it's not impossible, but it's gonna get much less common.

So something like the boost we got from Hooknails is fundamentally off the table then?

I was more talking about direct Training or Zeal Rewards for a specific event. Something that increased per-year Training semi-permanently (as the mentioned thing did) would be possible, but not super likely...I'm not immediately coming up with anything specific that would cause it.

Other than Grace increases from Hama, or as in-character rewards from the Church in one form or another, pretty much nothing is gonna up your Zeal income per year, though.
