I have dispatched an embassy but it seem petient to ensure you know their purpose beforehand to avoid wasting time. I want to carve up the Riverlands and I wish for your help to do so. To that end I propose a marriage.
I see. Taking advantage of the kidnapping are we Loren? I am not opposed to coming to an arrangement, though I would rather meet with your emissary, to discuss details in person, discussions like this are seldom done over raven messages. A marriage between us would do much to soothe tensions, particularly with some of my vassals in the north. I shall notify my Steward, to prepare for the embassy's arrival.

At this time and with the likelihood of a resurgent naval conflict between the Three Daughters and Volantis we would wish to be well provisioned with ships should a contract be signed. As such we would enquire if we might purchase some from Braavos?

Greetings,
We have heard that of late the pirates in the Southern Stepstones have been stepping up their raids upon shipping in the region. With the likely ongoing conflict with Volantis and the Free Cities we would like to offer ourselves to reduce this pirate menace for a modest fee from each of you and the opportunity to hire men to replace our losses in any campain.
It gladdens me that you have taken up my offer. Unfortunately, I can't hire sellswords myself to dedicate to your campaign, at least not yet. However, I can provide a very beneficial loan to supply and improve the equipment of your men. Or even to hire them yourself, should the need arise. The funds of Braavosi and those of the Iron Bank are unfortunately not one and the same.
A representative of mine, Lord Selwyn Hasty, should arrive in Braavos within the fortnight. Any help with the Iron Bank on your part for favourable terms would be most appreciated.

House Bolton seeks closer ties with your Houses, and there are few better ways to do so then through marriage. Though my own children are some years away from such, a betrothal always allows those involved to get to know one another better, and cements our new ties just the same.
From: Lord Ryswell - Talk to us when a your sons come of age, my daughter Cathelyne needs wed.
From: Lord Manderly - We are not interested with a match with House Bolton at this time, thank you for your words however.

Maester Tyral, I've been reading many of your writings here in the citadel and I've found true wisdom and knowledge in your words. As such I've wondered if I could get out of the citadel and come to you you'd tutor me for a few nights? I know its a bit unorthodox but if we do not always strive for knowledge we cease to grow, and I believe your wisdom can assist me thoroughly.
From: Qohor & Norvos: We are currently holding our own against New Valyria, we couldn't be able to send help to you at this time. We just wish to see ourselves free.

From: Myr - The Stepstones are not our concern right now at all. We have a greater threat and we need all our funds to fight it.
From: Lys - We are currently rebuilding our city and forces after the defeat of the Volantis assault on us. We have will not be able to fire you at this time.
From: Tyrosh - We would be willing to hire you to help with the southern pirates! Once the war is over we seek to see more control over the Stepstones and if you can clean our the pirate dens we will not forget the deed.
My dear neighbour, I pray the seven keep you well and your borders secure. Your duty guarding the Reach from the Dornish is one I am forever thankful for as should all Reachmen. As a fellow Lord with lands bordering the Dornish I would like to aid you, bind our houses closer together and assure that you are properly supported should dark times come. To achieve this i propose a marriage to bind our houses together, I have many sons and daughters, do you Lord Tarly have a suitable match looking for a husband or wife?
With the Seven's grace your future kin

Greetings to you, while the marshes have been relatively quiet of late I do see the need to gain better ties with other Houses within the Reach. I have both my daughter Gwyn and my son Samwell who just turned fifteen that I am looking to see married soon. I await your reply.
The Stormlands wish a safe voyage to the royal fleet as King Argilac leads a small host to Myr, where a gathering armada prepares to make its way south to Lys. Lord Becir Bolling was made Chief Justiciar in the king's absence, and has begun the process of preparing the realm for war against the Ironborn. While the Chief Justiciar searches far and wide to hire sellswords on the mainland, the king's envoy to Braavos begins hiring across the Narrow Sea as well.

"And so every parish is expected to supply at one soldier, chosen from the most able bodied and most adept at arms amongst the people who reside within the parish. Every town of above five hundred persons must supply five men for such service with three of them being pikemen and two being crossbowmen or archers. Each man is expected to bring his own equipment supplied by his folk, mail, a shield, a dagger or sword, and according to the commitment of his parish a lance, bow, or crossbow. Such persons who are chosen are to be exempt from their usual work and obligations and expected to muster and train twice a week. Each man is expected to be ready to serve at a moment's notice. Certain towns should be required to provide horses and it should be noted that the life of a mounted archer is vastly preferable to that of one carried by their own two feet." -Extract from the first announcement of "Loren's Lions" in 110 AD.
Archers training outside the walls of Lannisport without their heavy mail. Lannisport soon became known for providing a solid core of the Lions for numerous reasons including but not limited to the town's wealth, civic pride, the watchful eye of the Lannisters, the easy access to large numbers of people and the existing well drilled city watch.
The crossbow was often judged an easier weapon for a novice to master than the bow and the West was famed for its miners, craftsmen, jewellers and armourers leading many to prefer its mechanical nature to the more instinctive and flexible bows. This made it a firm favourite of both the rich and poor in the West with the distinction being the former could afford armour to go with it.

Loren's Pride was not meant as many have inaccurately claimed to be the future core of a mass army or even a precursor to a standing force but rather an attempt to sift through the large pool of smallfolk levies that offered little and caused all sorts of disruption when called up and draw from their number a force of part time warriors to be used in defence of the frontiers and coastlines and to play a supporting role in planned campaigns of conquest. They remained firmly secondary in purpose, prestige and usefulness to the professional warrior class of the Westerlands who would remain at the heart of any Lannister army. Even so the undertaking was to prove a massive expense briefly knocking the Westerlands economy to the second tier in Westeros (OOC: Prosperous) as Loren rivers of gold flowed to arm an train a mass of new soldiers where once there had been a mob peasants armed solely with what came to hand. Still if any kingdom could afford such measures it was that of the Rock and already there were signs of recovery whilst two years of great effort were at last offering tangiable results.
OOC: Negotiated the terms of the event with the mod. Effectively it got backdated two years to prevent having to wait like a month and a half irl to have anything to show for it. Westerlands will recover economically in two turns.
With my brother riding to the Eyrie and war on the horizon, it becomes ever more clear in what kind of chaotic times we live in. As such, old bonds must be rekindled, and I inform thee that my brother seeks a bride. As one of few First Men houses left in the Vale, I humbly come to you. If you are interested in joining our houses together as they have been since before the Andals took the Vale, send a raven in return, otherwise, burn this message and never speak of this matter again.

Greetings to the King in the North. It is the wish of the Storm King Argilac to send an envoy to Winterfell to discuss the option of some form of military partnership. The Ironborn being a mutual foe naturally forming the focus of this aspiration.

Lord Brune, with word of Black Harren's fell deeds reaching my ear and war reigniting to our East I fear that the time of pirates and reavers shall be upon us all once more. It is for this reason I seek to form an agreement between our Houses. I desire no obeisance or tribute from you but simple honest trade. I would offer the use of my shipyards for the creation of a small fleet of your own to defend yourself. In return I would ask that you become the supplier of it's wood as well as the wood for my own ships. Does this idea appeal to you, my Lord?

From: Lord Osgood Grafton
Good men of Gulltown, I aim to be remembered as a good steward of this city and so ask if there are any ways to better it. I intend already to expand it's port so that we may welcome more trade into our city but are there any other methods to bring prosperity to Gulltown? I assume those with a finger to the pulse of trade here should have some insight into this.
To: House Grafton
From: Sealed Corollo of Braavosi @Shapeless Phobos
Lord of Gulltown;
I write to you with a proposal. I have recently came to an agreement with House Arryn to increase trade relations with Braavosi. More specifically, the construction of a small merchant quarter, financed by myself. With the intention of establishing an easier trade relation between our two realms. As well as giving the Vale as a whole, easier access to the inner Essoi market, at the most competitive prices.
I write to you seeking your approval to go ahead with the plan.
If you were to have any reservations, feel free to ask me, and I'll do my best to respond.

My great king and uncle, I write to you personally with one goal, to assist in ensuring that Loren's Lions are being trained to their fullest and are prepared for the war that will soon occur near our border, as a result of the kidnapping of Princess Durrandon. Our peasantry must be prepared for the potential of war spilling into the Westerlands. Please grant me the authority to assist in this matter.
