Kingdoms Asunder - A ASOIAF Nation Game

In the Stormlands, much is happening. The Storm King Argilac had made a pact with the coalition of Free Cities to join them once more in their war against Volantene aggression. While the banners begin to rally for the expedition, much and more is happening elsewhere...

Your High Holiness, long have the barbaric Ironborn controlled the Riverlands, with their evil ways of slavery in all but name, and their evil god. I wish offer to you to enfeoff a local branch of the Warrior's Sons on my northern border, to stand as a faithful shield against them.

From: The High Septon

Where would you establish this branch exactly? And as you know they would follow the Seven not the Storm King.

Private,

Maester Tyral, I've been reading many of your writings here in the citadel and I've found true wisdom and knowledge in your words. As such I've wondered if I could get out of the citadel and come to you you'd tutor me for a few nights? I know its a bit unorthodox but if we do not always strive for knowledge we cease to grow, and I believe your wisdom can assist me thoroughly.

House Hoare of Harrenhal
A Stag Bound

Harwyn Hoare

---
When it came time for Harren Hoare to commence the festivities at Harrenhal in honor of the fortresses' completion, few could have anticipated what would happen next. While the Tyrant of the Trident feasted alongside his favoured sons and relatives, crunching bones between his teeth and jeering at the fighting taking place before him in his honor, several late arrivals would make their way into Harrenhal after returning from the Stormlads. Clad in a perfectly fine dress and accompanying jewelry, and God help anyone who objected again, Princess Argella Durrandon would be marched into the Hall of a Hundred Hearths by Fergon Hoare after having been kidnapped while on her way to her wedding. Unsurprisingly, once the matter was explained to him, Harren the Black would prove ecstatic about the affair, going so far as to mockingly bow to the Princess while roaring with laughter before embracing his salt-son and declaring him to be the "dumbest son" he had to all present. Such would be his mirth that he would order a dozen thralls sacrificed to the Drowned God in Fergon's name, a sure guarantee of his favor, before ordering every cup be emptied and refilled with the good stuff that the niggardly Ironborn had kept stashed in one of the many vaults beneath Harrenhal.

Only Prince Harwyn Hoare, called the Crow for it would be unseemly to name him the Black also, would raise objections over the matter, pulling his brother aside and chastising him away from prying eyes before counseling his father to send the Princess back to her father. Claiming that the kidnapping would surely guarantee war with the Stormlands and others besides, for many had cause to seek the shedding of Ironborn blood, Harwyn would spend much time attempting to sway his father to his point of view before giving up after being rebuked for cowardice by the Iron King before the Iron Lords.

Your Grace,

It very much is. As you know with the departure of my great, great-grandfather I am now the lord of House Royce and yet unmarried. One of my First Men lineage should not asketh for the hand of an Andal maiden's hand, undoubtedly unable to bear my children. Since I am already related to most other First Men houses in the Vale, I now must look West and North to find a suitable bride able to bear my children. That is why I intend to honour Harren's request, and for no other reason then that. If the Riverlords are all forced to attend, surely I can find a suitable bride amongst them.

Ever your Loyal Vassal,

Lord Galbart ''The Giant'' Royce

Lord of Runestone and Protector of the Bronzemen

Well the Crown will not try to stop you, I do warn you though to be cautious. The Ironborn don't follow the same laws as we do and are far more willing to break guest right than any culture on the continent.

Excellent, Your Grace. Then I shall make way immediately with suitable retinue.

King of the Vale;

I write to you with a proposal. As a new Sealord of Braavos, I wished to take Braavos into a new direction. Expanding the range of our ships, as well as increasing the trading we have done to enrich us, and our trading partners. We wish for the Vale to be one of our trading partners.

I propose that we Braavosi build a trading post, or a merchant quarter in, let's say Gulltown. This would facilitate trade with Braavosi merchants, and open up the Vale to goods from Essos and beyond, without the need to invest in a trade fleet.

I also would like to add that we also would encourage any hostile action taken against Ironborn. And would even help out navally in any engagement.

I eagerly await your reply

King of the Stormlands;

I just recently heard how House Hoare kidnapped your princess. We here at Braavosi hate slavery with a passion. If it comes to war, we would want to see your kingdom come out on top of the conflict.

I am offering Braavosi naval help should war come against the Ironborn. The House of Penorys has always been one of the keyholders of the Iron Bank. We could also be able to influence the Bank to give House Durrandons a very favorable loan if money becomes an issue.

The only thing I am asking in return is the establishment of trade posts and a dedicated merchant quarter in major Stormlands ports.

Also, if you are worried that this might jeopardize your relationship with your Pentos friends, you have no need to worry, For I have no intention of seeing Braavos going on any future offensive wars, and have made preparations to involve myself in your war against Volantis should their coalition fail.

I eagerly await your response

My friend, I thank you for your offer. War with the Ironborn seems inevitable, and so I request that said naval help would station itself and patrol along my northern border, the southern coast of Blackwater Bay from the mouth of the Blackwater to Massey's Hook.

I would also take your offer of a loan. I intend to lead an army to retrieve my daughter, and any assistance in that would be greatly appreciated. I would ask that you begin the hiring of major Free Companies that are not tied up in the conflict in the Disputed Lands, and prepare to send them south to join my gathering host. I would also ask for sufficient funds for a war chest and to improve the supplies and gear of my own men in anticipation of the coming conflict.

King Torrhen of the North;

I write to you and Lord Manderly with hopes of establishing a more mutually beneficial trading relation. One of the trading goods of most importance to Braavos is lumber to build the mighty Braavosi fleet. The North is also famous for its lumber. Wood from the Wolfswood has proven to be Qohor's equal in more ways than one, and rumor has it that Ironwood is many times its quality. It is with this in mind that I would like to facilitate trade between our two realms.

I propose the establishment of a merchant quarter in White Harbor, so that Braavosi merchants could trade more easily with the North at large. Cooperating closely with Braavos could be an opening for better relations in the future.

I hope your grace will consider my offer.

With kindest regard

Sealord Corollo of Braavos

While I can not say what the King will decide White Harbor is not against this idea as we are always looking to established better trade and expand the city.

From: Torrhen Stark, the King in the North

I cannot abide the permanent presence of foreigners in our lands. Trade is good and our lumber is the best, but any foreign merchants residing and operating in White Harbour or elsewhere within our realm must abide by our laws and find hospitality among our people for the duration of their stay.

House Bolton has even been a leal vassal of Your Grace, and we only wish to cement this tie in both deed and blood. I humbly petition that my eldest son and heir, Royce Bolton, be married to a daughter of Your Grace, a match that benefits House Stark and House Bolton both.

Your Grace,

It seems I am to ride to Harrenhal after all. With Lamentation in hand and encased in my ancestral armor. To rescue a maiden fair from the rapers, the reavers, and their ilk. For the Seven, the Old Gods and all honour that is left in the men of the Vale. We can not allow this insult to honour and guest right stand. House Hoare must be removed from the Riverlands once and for all. The Seven look down on slavery, as do the Old Gods. Septs destroyed by the Ironmen, Weirwoods cut down and used as lumber.

But before such action shall be undertaken, I shall ride for the Eyrie. Expect me within a forthnight.

I on behalf of my house and household thank you for your kind words and must note your houses known strength and valor most desired traits by House Reyne. Still, such aside brought alongside the messenger will be two portraits of your son and heir to admire of my two younger twin sisters Sofina and Sophia respectfully with a brief description of them in separate messages attached to the two portraits.

Sofina is rather active women, to say the least, and has ignored lessons truly attempted to teach her of ladylike behavior until father and eventually I after his death had given up and entertained her desires to be a warrior. She loves long walks and hikes into the wild, sword fighting and spear fighting as well as archery, brawls and wrestling, "hanging out" with animals both domestic and wild, hunting, and has gained a habit of stone carving for example having purchased a gemstone covered in stone before eventually carving it to her liking in the necklace in this portrait. On the other hand, Sofina HATES being dressed up into more fashionable clothing only wearing what she pleases to wear, hates sewing and knitting, as well as reading and writing once saying "warriors don't read books"

Sophia, unlike her twin sister, is a much more delicate flower and much more frankly ladylike let alone more appealing to one's eyes had not entertained the "activities" of Sofina. Instead, Sophia loves reading and writing, horseback riding, sewing and knitting, dancing, fashion, table games both simple and complex, and is a practitioner of the harp. On the other hand, Sophia despises the thought of long hikes into the wild or wrestling and sword fighting like her sister preferring the safety indoors or the wildlife of gardens and well-known woodlands.

It gladdens me that you have taken up my offer. Unfortunately, I can't hire sellswords myself to dedicate to your campaign, at least not yet. However, I can provide a very beneficial loan to supply and improve the equipment of your men. Or even to hire them yourself, should the need arise. The funds of Braavosi and those of the Iron Bank are unfortunately not one and the same.

As to naval help, consider your naval borders secure. We Braavosi will see your seas secure and Ironborn free.
