You change your Keychain to Hidden Dragon, and as soon as you enter the wide, open throne room, with its long red carpet leading across the area, there's the sound of numerous Heartless spawning in rapid succession. Descending from the ceiling is a veritable army of Bolt Towers, all intent on impeding your process—and you're already focusing.

"Not here, too!" cries Minnie.

"Already on it," you say, making sure to get as many Heartless into this Shotlock as possible. Bolt Towers are immune to Thunder, so this is the best way to sweep them all up at once.

You unleash Hidden Dragon's Shotlock, and a series of fireworks erupts from your Keyblade, each rocket whistling through the air with a piercing screech. The throne room explodes into color and noise, the colorful bursts of light and smoke silhouetting the Heartless as the room is filled with echoing booms.

"BOOM, BABY!" you exclaim.

"WHAT?!" yells Minnie, covering her big ears.

"I SAID—" you cast Fire into the smoke multiple times, hoping the homing qualities got in some hits— "BOOM, BABY!"

As the smoke begins to clear and the sound of fireworks dies down, you see several hearts floating away, a trademark sign of a squad of Emblem Heartless' destruction. However, you don't have any time to rest. While that Shotlock took care of the front line of Bolt Towers, it wasn't able to destroy the ones closer.

You and Minnie advance towards the throne, where the Bolt Towers try slamming the floor with the top of their bodies. Minnie casts Pearl, with the orb of light bouncing from one Heartless to the next to the point that you can hear the sounds of a pinball machine in your head.

"Focus, Haru," you remind yourself. "Speed is key." You pivot on your heel and jump into the air, casting a barrage of Fire spells to keep the remaining Heartless at bay, each spell adding to the smell of smoke that the Shotlock filled the room with.

When any of them start closing in on you, Minnie casts Faith to scatter them across the room again, allowing you to sweep them all up with Fire, even doing some Grand Magic in the form of Fira, which incinerates the last of the Heartless in a blazing display.

The room falls silent, save for the faint crackle of lingering embers. The air is thick with smoke, but it's over.

"That should be all of them," Minnie says with a sigh of relief. She walks over to the throne and presses a hidden button on the armrest. With a soft rumble, the pedestal on which the throne sits begins to move, sliding aside to reveal a secret staircase spiraling downwards.

"Our castle has always been safe from evil thanks to the Cornerstone of Light we keep down here," she explains as you descend with her, pushing open the doors.

The Hall of the Cornerstone is a vast chamber with a large crystal sphere filled with swirling, flickering, dim lights in the center, sitting on a white pedestal. However, the entire room is filled with thick, twisting thorns have sprouted from the ground, their blackened vines creeping up the walls and snaking across the floor, all pulsing with a faint, malevolent energy as if alive from Maleficent's magic.

In a burst of sickly green flame appears the mistress of all evil herself, though her image is transparent.

"Maleficent!" you shout.

"Well, well," she says with a satisfied smile, admiring her handiwork. "What have we here? If it isn't the replica—" she eyes Donald and Goofy running down into the room— "and the king's bumbling lackeys."

"What?! Now you're gonna deal with me!" screeches Donald, charging at her and falling right through her projection.

"Just what are you doing here, Maleficent?" asks Minnie.

"Ah, Queen Minnie. Radiant as always," replies Maleficent with a mocking bow. "I'm merely here on a little… property venture. I find this castle charming, but it's far too 'bright' for my tastes." She traces her finger along the surface of the Cornerstone, causing its faint glow to flicker in response. "I suppose I'll just have to fill every room with my personal touch of darkness."

"You'd better stop right now if you know what's good for you!" warns Minnie.

A wicked smile spreads across Maleficent's face. "Oh, how frightening. But you're sorely mistaken. You see, in a way, we have something in common," she continues, glancing at you. "After all, we both know the future, do we not? We both know of the inevitable clash between light and darkness that lurks on the horizon—one that even you, Haru, for all your foresight, cannot prevent."

Maleficent's grin widens. "I know how vast your knowledge of the future is… so why not make a deal? You tell me the outcome of the Keyblade War and whether that which I seek will appear, and I promise to leave this castle… unscathed." She leans closer, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "You know what that is, don't you?"

"I don't," you reply. "Seriously, I don't. Xemnas took away a lot of my meta knowledge, so I can't see the future as clearly anymore."

Maleficent's eyes narrow, her scowl deepening. "Do not lie to me, boy. You know very well what I seek: a book that can make entire worlds; the ancient Book of—"

Before she can finish, a chilling gust sweeps through the hall, and suddenly, a swarm of gray-hooded wraiths emerges from the thorns, their eerie forms gliding toward Maleficent. Their presence sends a shiver down your spine, and the air grows cold and heavy, as if the room itself is being smothered by an unseen force.

"What is this?!" Maleficent demands.

"I don't know!" you shout back, remembering these things from Olympus Coliseum.

The wraiths continue their approach, swirling around Maleficent like a storm. Her image flickers with an unnatural distortion. "Enough of this!" she snarls. With a wave of her staff, she dispels her projection, vanishing from the hall in a burst of green flame before the wraiths depart soon after.

Mechanics: Meta Knowledge, Whispers, and Dark Road
While Haru may not know what these wraiths are, you, my dear players and readers, may. Him derailing KH1, therefore throwing a monkey wrench into the rest of the Dark Seeker Saga, has unleashed quite a few butterflies. And guess who's tailing him and have derailing the Dark Seeker Saga on their "to swat" list? That's right, one such butterfly is that the Whispers are here.

If you've played Remake, you know the drill: the Whispers fucking HAAAAATE spoilers and here, are trying their hardest to keep KH2 on the rails, other than the butterflies—which they're also trying to keep in check. As you saw, they swarmed Maleficent when she was about to mention the Book of Prophecies and the black box—because they're basically that person who overreacts when you spoil their favorite show or game.

Trust me, one of my best friends IRL is like that—he takes spoilers really seriously, and it sucks when I'm about as subtle as Tom fucking Holland when it comes to spoilers.

So basically, if you wanna have Haru give a big spoiler without getting mobbed by a bunch of spoiler-hating, railroading ghosts (who Hades had fittingly dubbed the "fate police"), you gotta roll.

Here are the target numbers:

  • Anything Haru has revealed in the prequel or has become common knowledge is fair game. Things like Xehanort's endgame, Roxas being Sora's Nobody, Aqua being in the realm of darkness, and pretty much most of Xehanort's evil shenanigans like Norting? You don't have to roll.
  • Partially known spoilers? You need to roll when you wanna reveal things to new characters. The target number is greater than or equal to 10 on a d20. This includes things like Naminé being Kairi's Nobody, where Ven's heart is, the true identity of DiZ, and the existence of the other Twilight Town.
  • Unknown or highly sensitive spoilers: These are spoilers that Haru through his meta knowledge or an extremely limited group knows, and revealing them would shake everything big-time. This includes pretty much everything about Xion (remember that everyone forgot she existed at the end of 358/2 Days), the true nature of Castle Oblivion, and the identity of the Lingering Will. The target number there is greater than or equal to an 18 on a d20, with Xion-related spoilers having a -2 penalty. Failure results in major Whisper backlash with big consequences, possibly leading to them taking more of Haru's meta knowledge.
  • Unknown Future Events: No rolls are needed for meta knowledge beyond the Battle of the 1000 Heartless. After all, how can Haru spoil something that he doesn't even know about? Remember, Xemnas removed his meta knowledge ranging from there to the end of Melody of Memory, in addition to him having no meta knowledge of KHUX or Dark Road.
  • Dark Road: Haru's knowledge of Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road is limited. During the visit to Beast's Castle, Haru learned that a young Xehanort visited there, the names of Hermod and Urd, and him getting back the rose after the upperclassmen tried stealing it, even if he doesn't know the full story of Dark Road.
"Right away, monsieur!" exclaimed Lumiere, lighting the torch with his flame. "Your weapon... I have seen it before. It is familiar, right, Mrs. Potts?"

"It certainly is," said the housekeeper. "Three people with those weapons, around the same age as you, came to the castle a few years before Belle."

"Wait... what?" Casting Water to extinguish another lantern for Lumiere to light, Haru thought over everything he still had. If it wasn't Terra, Aqua, or Ventus who came here, then who was it? It couldn't have been anyone from between then and when the Heartless destroyed this world, either.

"That's right! They saved me from Heartless!" Chip interjected with a wide smile.

"Did you get their names?" A third lantern down.

Mrs. Potts nodded. "Yes, we did."

"The first girl had white hair and hair akin to Belle's, and she called herself Urd. Too bad she could not stay," Lumiere said, looking down. "The other's name was... Hermod, was it?"

"Urd and Hermod..." Haru repeated, testing the names on his lips as he got the last lantern set up, while a doorway to the west hall opened up at the end of the passage. "What about the third?"

"Ah, yes. It was... Xehanort, if my memory serves right."
At that, Haru dropped the Keyblade. Xehanort had come to this world. But when? Going by their story, Xehanort was a lot younger than the old man Haru was familiar with through his visions. How was that even possible, anyway?

If this was only a few years before Belle arrived, and Xehanort was young when he came here, did time pass differently in every world?

While it had been a year since Ansem's defeat in Twilight Town, the Destiny Islands, and Hollow Bastion, had it only been a much smaller time period here?

"Something wrong, mister?" asked Chip. "Do ya know him?"

"It... it's nothing," said Haru, picking up the Keyblade. "L-let's just go."

"Do you have to go?" wondered Belle.

Haru nodded. "Not before I ask you this. Did Xehanort really help you get the rose back from those Keyblade wielders?"

"Yes," rumbled the Beast in a tone that offered no further discussion.

So yeah. Haru's knowledge of Dark Road will be second-hand.
In Dark Road, Xehanort visited these worlds and talked to these characters that Haru's met.
  • Agrabah: Xehanort met Iago and Jafar, and was seen by Carpet. Agrabah's gonna be a world in the quest, so you're free to ask someone.
  • Wonderland: Xehanort interacted with the Cheshire Cat and the Queen of Hearts, but their reliability is questionable, considering how nonsensical Wonderland is.
  • Dwarf Woodlands: Xehanort met the Seven Dwarves, the Evil Queen, and the Magic Mirror, the latter of which led to Ven becoming his apprentice. Haru only knows Snow White, having met her in Hollow Bastion, and the Evil Queen died offscreen in Birth by Sleep; to quote the Magic Mirror: "The queen is gone, my service done. Adieu, o victorious one."
  • Beast's Castle: Confirmed by multiple people Haru's spoken to there (Beast, Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, and Chip), so he's sure of this visit.
  • Olympus Coliseum: Xehanort had encounters with Hades and fought Cerberus. While Haru hasn't asked Hades about this visit yet (courtesy of it happening while back when this was a fic), you'll have a chance to do so. If you remember KH2, you know the Pain and Panic Cup opens after Timeless River, so if you decide to compete, you're free to ask Hades then.
But yeah, I hope that this clears things up about how meta knowledge is gonna work here now that the cat's out of the bag.

Disney Castle: A Link Between Worlds

-[x] Minnie
--[x] Ask her if she knows what Maleficent is after

You glance at Queen Minnie. If it's like what happened in the Underworld, she probably can't see the wraiths. "So, uh…" you ask, "What exactly do you think Maleficent's after?" You remember how Xemnas once mentioned something similar to what she did—about a book of some kind.

"I don't know exactly," says Minnie. "I'm sorry. Maleficent's actions are unpredictable, so who knows what she's after? And that wind stopped her from saying her plans."

You look back at the Cornerstone of Light, its glow now dimmed and flickering. "It doesn't look good," you mutter, half to yourself and half to Queen Minnie. "If Maleficent is after something here, it could be tied to the Cornerstone itself."

Minnie nods, her expression tight with worry. "The Cornerstone is the source of our world's protection. If it's in danger, so are all of us."

"Then we need help," you decide, reaching for the Gummiphone. "Cid's always good for relaying a message." You quickly dial his number, listening to the soft buzz of the line connecting.

"Cid here," comes the gruff voice on the other end.

"Hey, Cid. It's Haru. We've got a situation at Disney Castle—Maleficent is causing trouble and now the Cornerstone is flickering. Can you get in touch with Merlin and tell him to get over here? We might need some serious magic to fix this."

"Hold on, kid. Lemme see if I can reach him." You hear the sound of Cid muttering under his breath, followed by some rustling. After a moment, he comes back on the line. "You're in luck. He's right here with me."

A familiar, cheerful voice suddenly fills the line. "Haru, my boy! I hear there's a bit of a magical mess that needs sorting out?"

"Yeah, Merlin," you reply with a sigh of relief. "It's getting pretty bad here. Any chance you can pop over and help us out?"

"Say no more!" Merlin exclaims. "I'll be there in a jiffy. And I'll bring along some assistance!"

Moments later, with a swirl of light and a soft pop, Merlin appears in the hall, his blue robes fluttering as if caught in a gentle breeze. Right behind him are Cid and Aerith, both looking ready to assist.

"Thought you could use some extra hands," Cid grumbles, already scanning the room.

Aerith smiles warmly, but her eyes quickly focus on the Cornerstone, a look of concern crossing her face. "This… doesn't feel right," she murmurs.

Merlin steps forward, wand in hand, examining the Cornerstone closely. "It appears some malevolent force is interfering with its magic. But I have an idea…" He raises his wand, chanting under his breath, and with a dramatic flourish, a door materializes next to the Cornerstone—an ornate white door with a glowing frame.

"That door," Merlin explains, "leads to a very special world. Someone in that world is responsible for what's happening to the Cornerstone. Of that, I'm certain."

"Oh boy!" cheers Donald.

"We knew we could count on you, Merlin," says Goofy.

Aerith steps forward, looking the door over. "If this is anything like Maleficent, we should keep our eyes peeled," she suggests.

Cid grunts in agreement, crossing his arms. "Yeah, and from what you've told me, if these guys are messin' with time, shit'll hit the fan pretty damn fast."

"Somewhere in that world, there's a door identical to this one," the wizard elaborates. "I believe our enemies are using it. As long as it remains open, this castle remains in danger."

"And I just gotta lock it with my Keyblade?" you ask.

"Precisely!" confirms Merlin. "Once you seal the door, the link between the worlds will be broken, and the Cornerstone will be safe."

Cid chuckles. "Well, that sounds easy enough, but nothin' ever is with you lot, huh?"

Goofy just laughs. "Gawrsh, Cid, you know us too well!"

"Just make sure to keep on your toes," Aerith says with a wink. "We've got your back, but I wouldn't mind seeing a few fireworks."

Cid raises an eyebrow, smirking. "Feelin' a little feisty, eh?"

"It's Maleficent." Aerith's grin widens. "I've got a lot of pent-up rage."

Right before you open the door to Timeless River, you stop. "Hey, so about whatever Maleficent wants…" you tell your four party members, loud enough that both Minnie and Merlin can hear you, "after we fix the Cornerstone, why don't we head to her homeworld? With all those Heartless lurking around Villain's Vale, Maleficent's probably set up shop there, so her old castle in Enchanted Dominion must be deserted—but we might find some clues there about what she's planning next."

Goofy scratches his head. "Hmm, do ya really think we'd find anything there?"

You nod. "It's worth a shot. If Maleficent left anything behind, we could learn something important."

"Yeah, it's better than sitting around and waiting for her to make her next move!" Donald exclaims.

Cid smirks. "Sounds like a decent plan to me. A little recon never hurt anybody, right?"

"And don't forget we're here to back you up," says Aerith.

You give a confident smile to the group, feeling reassured by their support. "Don't worry, we'll be careful." You then turn to Cid and Aerith. "By the way, did you two bring any potions with you? And are you coming with us after this?"

Cid scratches his head. "Well, we brought a few, but you know how it is—could always use more. As for comin' along, count us in."

"Of course we're coming with you. Can't let you have all the fun, right? Besides," Aerith says with a twinkle in her eyes, "someone's gotta keep an eye on you. Who knows what trouble you'll get into without us?"

"Heh, she's got a point," comments Cìd. "And don't worry, if we run out of potions, we'll just have to make do. Ain't like we haven't done that before."

With a determined nod, you grip your Keyblade tighter and swing it toward the door. As the Keyblade connects, the door creaks open, revealing a brilliant, blinding light that spills out, engulfing you, Donald, Goofy, Aerith, and Cid. The light is so intense that you have to shield your eyes.

Before you can brace yourself, you feel the ground vanish beneath your feet, and the sensation of falling overtakes you. You tumble through the light, disoriented, and the next thing you know, you're spilling out of the other side of the door.

You land with a soft thud on the grass, but something feels… off. Blinking away the brightness, you push yourself up and look around, only to find that everything has changed. The world around you is completely monochrome, with a retro cartoon vibe like something out of an old-timey movie reel. The sky is a shade of gray, and even the sun looks like a simple, smiling doodle hanging in the sky.

You glance down at yourself and your friends—you're all in black and white too. Your own clothes, skin, everything has been transformed to match this strange new world. Goofy's eyes widen as he notices his own monochrome hands, and Donald squawks in surprise.

"What the [BOING!] just happened to us?" Cid exclaims, looking over his grayscale body. He pauses. "[HONK!]in' [SPLAT!], am I not allowed to swear here?!"

"Speak for yourself," you mutter, admittedly mad about that too.

"It's like we've stepped into an old cartoon!" says Aerith, inspecting her new look.

"Hey, this is kinda like, uh…" Donald comments, trying to find the right words.

"Déjà vu?" suggests Goofy.

"Yeah!"

You take a moment to take in your surroundings. The hill you're on overlooks a bustling construction site where Disney Castle is in its early stages of being built. Animated characters move around with exaggerated, bouncy motions, carrying beams and bricks as they whistle rubber hose tunes.

"Well, we wanted to see what was up on the other side of the door," you say, a smile spreading across your face despite the strange circumstances. "Looks like we got our answer. Let's see if we can find that other door Merlin mentioned."

Donald waves his staff, still adjusting to his new look. "Yeah, let's just make sure we don't get caught up in any crazy cartoon hijinks."

Cid sighs. "Too late for that. We're already in deep."

Aerith nods, still amused. "Just keep an eye out for anything unusual—or, well, more unusual than usual."
There's no sign of Past!Pete so far.

That'll be the norm for Timeless River. Seeing how the soundfont there was different, too…

Timeless River: Monochrome Dreams
[X] Check too see if you have any toon powers, pull something out of a hammer-space, play an animal like an instrument, jump through a painting of a tunnel.
You glance down at your hands, now drawn with simple lines and shading. "Well, this is different," you mutter to yourself, a grin spreading across your face. A thought pops into your head, and you decide to test something. You reach behind your back, half-expecting to grab air, but instead, your hand wraps around the handle of a comically large mallet.

Donald's eyes widen in disbelief. "How did you do that?!"

You shrug, twirling the mallet with ease. "Hammer-space," you say with a chuckle, enjoying the surprised looks on your friends' faces. "You know, like in those old cartoons. Maybe we can use this to our advantage."

You feel a burst of curiosity and spot a painted tunnel on a nearby rock. Why not push the limits a little more? With a mischievous grin, you sprint toward the rock and leap, diving headfirst into the painting. There's a brief moment of darkness, and then you're popping out of another painting on a tree nearby, your grin even wider.

"Looks like this place has its own set of rules," you say, catching your breath. "And I think we can bend them a bit."

Aerith laughs softly, her monochrome figure giving her a new, whimsical look. "Well, it's certainly a new look for you."

Cid crosses his arms, clearly unimpressed. "If it helps us get through this faster, I'm game. But don't expect me to pull any rabbits out of hats."

Donald and Goofy nod along, both looking a bit more enthusiastic now that the shock is wearing off.

You and your party make your way down the hill, the black-and-white landscape shifting around you like an old film reel. In the center of the construction site is the Cornerstone, glowing faintly even in this colorless world.

"Hey, there it is!" Goofy points out, his cartoonish voice somehow sounding even more animated in this place. "The Cornerstone of Light!"

But before you can respond, you notice something else—four floating windows, hovering in the air around the Cornerstone. They're like picture frames, each showing a different scene, all moving as if they're live broadcasts from somewhere else.

"What in the world…" Aerith breathes, stepping closer to one of the windows.

You approach cautiously, peering into the first window. It shows a black-and-white scene of a tiny town with a tower in the center.

"What are these things?" Cid asks, scratching his head. He reaches out a hand, but it passes right through the window like it's made of smoke.

"They seem like portals," you say. "Portals to different… I dunno, scenes? Dimensions? Whatever they are, they don't belong here."

You step back and look at the other three windows. The second window shows an eerie laboratory, with cobwebs and crooked tables filled with strange equipment. You can hear faint, unsettling laughter coming from somewhere within.

The third window displays another construction site, where you can see a steel-framed skyscraper under construction, swaying precariously as Heartless clamber up the girders. You can almost hear the clang of metal and the huffing of steam as the workers struggle to keep things together.

The fourth window reveals the inside of an old pirate ship, with ropes swinging and the deck swaying. Shadowy figures dart around, causing chaos on board as the ship battles against a raging storm. Why the hell does it smell like perfume? Why would pirates need that?

"We need to clear each of these places of Heartless," you say. "Whatever's going on in these windows, it's affecting the Cornerstone—and by extension, Disney Castle itself."

"Looks like it's time to deal with ol' Dr. Frankenstein, folks," you say, switching your Keyblade to Hero's Origin. "Let's give him the old one, two, buckle my shoe~" You cheerfully laugh.

You lead the way, stepping through the portal with a confident grin. As you cross the threshold, the colors around you drain away into monochrome, and the familiar scent of ink fills the air. The world blurs, and suddenly you find yourself standing in a shadowy, eerie lab filled with strange contraptions and bubbling potions. The floor creaks beneath your feet, and the air is thick with an unsettling, medicinal odor.

Goofy and Donald take cautious steps behind you, their eyes wide as they glance around at the creepy surroundings. Cid is close behind, his usual bravado replaced by wary glances at the creaking rafters and dimly lit shelves full of bizarre medical tools.

Aerith, however, lingers near the portal, her expression tightening into one of discomfort. She hesitates, looking around the lab with a guarded expression, her usual cheer replaced by a sense of wariness.

"Something wrong?" you ask, turning back to her.

Aerith nods slightly, her eyes darting around the room as if she expects something to jump out at any moment. "This place… it reminds me of someone I knew," she says quietly, almost to herself. "Someone who did terrible things… to people."

Donald gives a concerned noise and moves closer to her. "We'll be in and out before you know it, Aerith. We just gotta find that Heartless and close up shop!"

Aerith forces a small smile, but her eyes remain distant. "Yeah… let's just get this over with."

You nod, feeling a twinge of sympathy. "Alright, let's stay sharp, everyone. We don't know what kind of tricks this 'Mad Doctor' might have up his sleeve."

You take the lead, moving deeper into the lab. The walls seem to close in as you walk further, the shadows dancing in the dim light, casting grotesque shapes that make Aerith flinch slightly. A rhythmic thumping noise echoes through the halls, the sound of gears turning, followed by a deep, sinister laugh that sends a chill down your spine.

A creaky door swings open ahead, revealing a dark corridor lined with cages and flickering candlelight. The air grows colder, and you sense a growing presence of Heartless nearby.

"Keep your eyes peeled," Cid mutters, gripping his weapon tighter. "Something tells me this doc ain't exactly gonna give us a warm welcome."

Aerith takes a deep breath, steeling herself. "Let's find that Heartless and get out of here."

You continue onward through the creepy lab, passing by skeletons before you get to a metal door with three Xs on it.

"This is so [SQUEE]ing cheesy," grumbles Cid, pulling out a spear. "It's like a kiddie haunted house!"

If anything, you're more concerned about Aerith, who's biting her lip. When she notices you, she forces a smile. "I'm fine, Haru. Really," she says. "Let's just get out of this place."

You don't believe her. "Goofy, you and me will take the front," you tell him. "Keep Aerith safe."

"Uh, I'm right here," she speaks up, arching an eyebrow. "And I don't like being coddled."

"And you seem uncomfortable," you counter, pushing open the doors to the operating room and heading in first with Goofy. "Seriously, something's wrong, and…" You pause. "Hey, maybe we can talk about it once we're back in Hollow Bastion."

"Like I said, it's just a place that brings back bad memories. No need to go shrink on me," she says, raising her staff. "Oh, and I can place down wards for the next time we run into Heartless."

"Uh, you two may wanna look ahead!" exclaims Donald.

Both you and Aerith look to see a large operating room filled with all kinds of surgical gear and a chalkboard with a picture of Pluto and a chicken. While there may not be any Heartless, there is a bald man with a long black beard and a white doctor's coat, with a hammer in his pocket.

"Ah, welcome!" he crows, cackling maniacally. "I've admired your persistence in getting through my lab, and it's time for your reward!"

"But we didn't do anything," you point out.

The doctor pauses. "Well, in that case, I'll just add you all to my skeleton collection!"

He pulls a knife out of his pocket before pulling a lever, which causes a glass dome to rise around him. In addition, two buzzsaws emerge from the ceiling, and in front of him rises a mechanical arm, tipped with a clawed hand that snaps its pincers.

"I am the Mad Doctor, the greatest villain of all time!" announces the scientist.

You switch your Keyblade to Shooting Star, then shout, "Donald! Double Thunder!"

[Haru: 8+3=11]

[Donald: 4+2=6]

[Claw: 18, 5]

Lightning shoots down towards the mechanical arm, but the metal plating deflects most of the energy. It jerks slightly, but continues its advance towards you all, clicking its claws.

Donald's Thunder spell, on the other hand, does hit, striking a weak point in the machinery. Sparks fly as the arm violently twitches.

As for Aerith? She says, "Time for a shock!" before raising her staff at the arm. A bolt of lightning strikes the mechanical arm with pinpoint accuracy, making it convulse as the electricity runs through it.

[Aerith: 20+2=22]

[Claw: 9]

The arm's movements come to a stop, severely damaged by Aerith's spell. "Here goes!" shouts Goofy, slamming his shield into it.

[Goofy: 18+2=20]

[Claw: 7]

The impact rings through the room with a loud clang, and the already-damaged arm crumples under the force. Gears snap, and wires burst, sending pieces of the arm clattering to the floor before it goes limp.

With a maniacal grin, the Mad Doctor pulls a lever, and the buzzsaw closest to you comes further out of the wall. But before it can reach you, you pull a classic cartoon trick—ducking your head into your body like a turtle.

[Mad Doctor: 2]

[Haru: 10]

"Why, you…!" screams the fuming Mad Doctor as your head pops back out.

Cid takes a few steps back, then launches himself high into the air, his lance gleaming in the dim light. The Mad Doctor's eyes widen as he sees Cid descending rapidly toward the protective glass dome.

The impact is powerful. Cid's lance strikes true, creating cracks across the dome. The Mad Doctor stumbles back, his earlier confidence faltering, before he pulls the lever to make a buzzsaw come out of the ceiling.

"Goofy, time to use your head!" you shout. "Aerith, keep zapping those saws!"

He plants his shield firmly in front of him, and you and Donald grab hold of his shoulders. With a unified shout, the three of you charge forward in perfect sync.

[Trinity Bash?: 13+2=15]

[Mad Doctor: 3]

Goofy's shield slams into the already fractured dome with incredible force, the momentum from the three of you sending shockwaves through the protective glass. The Mad Doctor can only watch, wide-eyed and panicked, as the cracks spread like lightning. With a final crash, the dome shatters completely, shards flying in all directions.

The Mad Doctor stumbles backward, his once smug grin wiped from his face. "No! You'll regret that!" he shrieks.

Before the he can recover, Aerith steps forward, calmly raising her staff. A brilliant flash of light bursts from the tip as she casts another Thunder spell. The bolt strikes the Mad Doctor's machines, sending a surge of electricity through the contraptions. Sparks fly, and the once-whirring buzzsaws come to a halt.

[Aerith: 18+2=20]

[Saws: 9]

The Mad Doctor stares at his now-useless machines in disbelief. "This… this is unacceptable!" he screeches. He throws his arms up in a fit of rage, then storms toward the exit, grumbling under his breath as he slams the door behind him.

Learned Dodge Slash.

Before anyone can catch their breath, a familiar figure suddenly appears—Past!Mickey, with a wide grin and a twinkle in his eye.

Without saying a word, the old-timey king walks up to you and enthusiastically shakes your hand, nodding his approval. You blink, taken aback by the silent but warm gesture, but return the handshake with a smile.

Mickey then gestures for you all to follow, beckoning you toward the window at the far side of the lab. His movements are quick, almost playful, as if the battle you just fought were nothing more than another day in the life.

Donald waddles over to the window, giving the cord a sharp tug. The curtain rises slowly, revealing not just the outside world, but a scene from the past, playing out as if on a stage.

Pete watches from the shadows, his expression uneasy. Before him, the familiar form of Maleficent stands tall, her staff firmly in hand. Opposite her is a blonde woman clad in a low-cut dress, her smug grin and eyes locked on the fairy.

"I have no use for your company," says Maleficent. "The Heartless answer only to me, and I will not be sharing their power with the likes of you."

"That's a shame, darling," replies the woman.

With that, you're brought back to Cornerstone Hill. "That… that was different," you admit.
