Still, if it is this bad, then we should cure it somehow. Will the sagedice let us however?

Unfortunately, for anyone in the Star Wars Galaxy, Disney made them Canon. So don't be surprised if it's not the last heard from them.

You forgot to mention that's only the imperial version is airborne. The regular virus is contact transfer only. IE via bites. Also doesn't just stop if you get far enough from the source. The Sickness or Project Blackwing is basically an airborne virus with only one in one hundred naturally immune to it. If infected you do not have to die from the virus to reanimate. Even then the immune can become infected by getting bitten, though it's possible to make an anti-virus from their own blood to protect themselves.
The virus is sentient, able to learn from past experiences of its hosts and hell does they learn quickly, so while bit more stumbling that the living, they can go from not knowing how to use a blaster to deadly accurate in a few MINUTES. Oh and they're immune to headshots, so they can only be 'killed' by complete decapitation of the head or disintegration.
Fortunately, unlike most zombies, if they get too far from the source of the virus they die. Which is why they were trying to fix the hyperdrive of the Star Destroyer they were on. However, thanks to the effort of the protagonists the Hyperdrive was destroyed and the Star Destroyer was left to drift through space far from any inhabited systems.

Arguably the original form of blackwing, the sickness, is the worst. Those things can spread as far as they want regardless of the distance from the source of the virus. I think it even managed to infect tree based sentient lifeforms and even plants. The only upside is that you had to be bit to get that one.Yeah, Blackwing is one of the worst variants of zombies in the old EU. Worse than the Rakghoul (although they are ACTUALLY mutants, but pretty much ends up working the same) and that means something.

While the imperial version stopped working after the escape pod with a zombie in it and the survivors hit a certain distance from the ship. I remember some dude with the original version turning despite being in orbit of the world where the virus came from.
I added more info to my post about the Sickness, the original form of blackwing.
I found out why there was a distance thing involved with the airborne version. The imperial scientists were smart. They made it so that any infected with blackwing would need constant exposure to the airborne version of the virus in order to stay animated.Don't forget the fact that the airborne version is so potent it can infect people through hazmat suits and stormtrooper armor that is designed to filter out harmful stuff.
Well technically the sickness still exists on Odacer-Faustin. No one purged or bombarded that planet until nothing remained of it as far as I know.Let us be glad then that we only have this mutant virus. I'm sure Teron would never introduce it to this game.
So in other words the Imperial Scientists had at least basic common sense and were more competent than Umbrella.I found out why there was a distance thing involved with the airborne version. They were smarter then the sith who originally made the thing. Of course it was originally designed for immortality. The first dude who made it had no idea it would turn out like it did. The second dude did but was arrogant enough to think he could solve that issue and make it give proper immortality before it spread to far.So in other words the Imperial Scientists had at least basic common sense and were more competent than Umbrella.

Just want to check. During the Clone Wars, how long is a turn?
