Is Randgriz Burning? (Valkyria Chronicles)

Awesome. There are some things you can take care of in the short term, while some of that stuff will be days, if not weeks of work (prep, acquisition, installation, testing).

Tools would be a good way to start, for these you have some options:

Route 1: Investigate +2, Command +3
Route 2: Rapport +1, Contacts +2, Burglary +3

Obviously Route 1 can be handled in house (Investigate to find your best shot at securing proper tools, Command to make it happen), route 2 will require you to make the acquaintance of some squadies (Rapport to open up some social circles, Contacts to seal the deal, Burglary to uh...yeah). You can create advantages as a part of challenges, and pass boosts from the overcome actions along to other tests.

This will set you on the path to the first great conflict of the campaign, Militia forces vs Army Bureaucracy! :V

Well, until Trudy can get to know the squad some more (not happening today with the tank in the condition it is ) looks like I'll have to go for the first method.

Militia Tank CO vs Army Bureauacracy: Round 1:

FIGHT!

Investigate Result: 2 Successes on Dice and Skill level cancels out the Investigate DC. Solid Success

Command Result: Dice rolls cancel out, as does Command skill and DC. So success at minor cost.

Guess I'll have to figure out how this pans out later when I can get an IC post up.
Harbinger threw 4 6-faced dice. Reason: Investigate +2 Total: 18
5 5 2 2 6 6 5 5
Harbinger threw 4 6-faced dice. Reason: InCommand +3 Total: 13
1 1 2 2 5 5 5 5

You do a brilliant job finding what you've got scattered around the bay and identifying what you're going to need to get the tank running. Going through the soldier at the desk you successfully browbeat your way through his meager defenses, but danger lurks on the horizon in the form of that nosy first sergeant. He's in the distance for now, but he'll likely be a problem in the future.

Feel free to embellish/improvise on that. You've got the gist of how it works though.

Kk, answer time. No.

Reserves until there's an insert point. I like your back-story and the replacement element your character brings to the table Sushi. Unfortunately bringing her in during the overture blows that all to hell and draws the spotlight away from the dynamics currently in play. Take it as a bittersweet compliment.

*I'm getting ninja'd all over the place today*

Perhaps Sushi's crew is buildong a new tank from scratch?
Sushi's crew is probably deployed setting up defensive positions in Vasel or skirmishing somewhere north of Lake Graz. I haven't hit you guys with a hard date, but figure this is somewhere around the end of March, invasion's just a couple weeks old so the regular Army still has its hands full in the central region.

Tanks are built in several factories spread across Gallia, though much of that industrial capacity is located up in Fouzen. There's an atlas of sorts coming to a thread near you as soon as...well, when it's more important. Rebuilding a tank, that's a different story.

Oh right, an atlas, and maps. I need to get those files off my old PC. I actually put together a bunch of maps via screenshots of VC3, which I will add that I totally bought legitimately!

...and actually returned it when I downloaded a PSP emulator with the English patched version of the game...

...and still have the game despite getting my money back because I never got return instructions....Look it was totally a legitimate purchase!

Oh my! If you have those, yeah... VCI map is terrible once you look closely at it. So many random rolled or duplicated names all over, and I want to really dig down in to the significance of "place" with this. It matters what territory an enemy holds, what's there, who got left behind. Gotta have good maps.

I appreciate the thought but I will trust in GM and be busy at war in the background. Kris comes in as a replacement for a militia tank later on.

And they build tanks at factories, yeah. You need massive casting machines and heat treatment. A maintenance team can rebuild a busted tank though, as long as it's not burned.

Okay, so getting that English patch to work again was a pain in of itself, but the files are transferred, and as such, maps that are pertinent to us at the moment. I can patch more together as time goes on and we need them.

First off, physical map of Gallia:

Next up, extent of the Imperial Centrial Gallian circa Battle of Vasel (cutscene was the only place I could get this hence the quality)

Front Lines circa post Battle of Vasel

And finally, the Vasel region (patched together after the area was complete hence all the icons): the blue dot on the above map

Aslone region, the red dot on the map

I should note that this is a fan translation, so the date March 14th should be taken with a grain of salt. The date is listed as 4/1935, implying April. Plus according to VC1 I believe Bruhl fell around mid March. It'd make more sense for these maps to be around mid-April.

Okay, so update of the current to-do list:

-Get tools/parts Done

-Lose the Autoloader

-Fix that radiator

-Get the radio in working order

-Replace gaskets

-Rewrite Manual

-Switch out the engine

-Get the armor up to spec

-Fit a new gun

The bolded parts are the ones that need to be done as soon as possible to put the tank in minimum working condition, and the ones that can be completed in the immediate future. Trudy and her crew will be working on those first.

That being said I'm assuming that will require an Engineering roll.

@Slayers148 Um, reminder that I'm waiting on you, though... its your choice to take it up, I can go on myself if you want...

Sorry, impatient me is impatient... I got bored...

TO VIDEO GAMES!

Uh well....I'll try to update soon but I'm in a middle of a midterm crisis at the moment. Of course, you could go on by yourself if you want. I don't actually mind.

And btw....Dark soulzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz~

Oh boy, are you ever right...

+3 Engineering, +2 Physique, +2 Athletics for this leg of the tank repair montage. Remember, of course, you can use teamwork and/or create an advantage for these, though if the CA fails it increases the odds of interesting things happening.

Trudy's got herself a crew, two of which have some levels of technical expertise, a pile of parts and tools, and the drive to make sure she has a working tank. You're damn right I'll try to create an advantage. Best way for the present? Command roll to use her crew to the best of their abilities. I figure that a success on that will get them Coordinated.

Total: +3 successes on the dice, and +3 from the skill. Success with 6 shifts (Succeed in Style). Looks like Trudy's making sure she and her crew are going to get this thing working even if they have to be working on it while they're driving the damn thing into battle.
Harbinger threw 4 6-faced dice. Reason: Command +3 Total: 20
5 5 5 5 4 4 6 6

Woot! You've got two free invocations of Coordinated to throw at this challenge.

SOrry Ive been kusy, Ill try to get something done this afternoon
Cool!

Kickass, okay let's go down the line here

First up: Engineering. Trudy has a +2, but she's worked on armored vehicles for around two decades, she's often thought to Wear Grease More Than Makeup. So that's getting invoked for a +2. Total before rolling: +4

Next, Athletics: Though she's in good shape (+1), alone she might have a problem with some of the heavy equipment, but with a Coordinated crew, it makes up for those problems. So with the invocation, she's at a +1 before rolling

Finally Physique: She can't say to be the best at it (+0), but with the help of a Coordinated crew, they can probably pull it off. She's at a +0 before the roll so it looks like I'll be putting my faith in the heart of the dice for the last one.

So then....

And our totals:
Engineering: +2 from the dice, +2 from the skill, and +2 from an invoked aspect. At a DC +3, that makes 3 Shifts (Succeed in Style)
Athletics: Success on all dice for +4, +1 from skill, and +2 from Coordinated. At a DC of +2 that makes it 5 Shifts (Succeed in Style)
Physique: Uh oh, looks like my luck ran out 2 failures from the dice, +0 for skill, +2 from Coordinated. At a DC +2 that makes it a -2.

So is spending a Fate Point to succeed on Physique possible here? I probably shouldn't worry this much about it, but I want that tank working dammit!
Harbinger threw 4 6-faced dice. Reason: Engineering +4 Total: 18
1 1 5 5 6 6 6 6
Harbinger threw 4 6-faced dice. Reason: Athletics +1 Total: 23
6 6 6 6 5 5 6 6
Harbinger threw 4 6-faced dice. Reason: Physique +0 Total: 10
3 3 1 1 1 1 5 5
