WOW, the animal attack dice came back with a VENGEANCE.
I need SEVEN D100 rolls, all by different people preferably.

Turn 14 Results
-[X] Battery Bank: the camp is running off of the continuous use of generators at the moment, an inefficient process. While many people have suggested the use of other forms of electrical generation, Kevin mindlessly questioned the state of our electrical storage, or rather the lack thereof. When he eventually elaborated, he reminded Bill and Richard of the possibility to use car batteries wired in sequence to form a bigger battery. The two added this option to the list not long after. Track down some working batteries and hook them together to form a power base for the camp. (Builds a basic battery setup for storing power. You no longer need to always run the generator.) DC 50 - 2 dice used
-[X] Set up next-tier housing: Matt and his group have managed to find enough pre-fab housing units to bring the housing to the next level. Let's set an aim for having everyone under hard roofs and sturdy walls for the winter, at least for a given definition of sturdy. DC 40 - 2 dice used
-[X] Planned Exploration: The Civil engineering and Geology students have come forward to propose an exploration of the area around the camp. This would allow you to get a count on close resources and start making a better map of the area. (Unlocks further exploration options. Decreases DC of certain actions) DC 30
-[X] Build a basic air base: The airplane from the stockpile has brought forth the idea that it could be possible to build an air base of sorts. While it would currently be little more than a hangar to store the plane and a runway that has been prepped, it would open up some options in the future. (opens up options using the plane) DC 50
-[In Progress] Food for the Herd, winter preparations: The animals are going to need a lot of food to survive the winter. Jerry recommends that we immediately start harvesting what grass and feed we can and drying it for the animals in a separate area. (Each turn this is taken, adds 2 turns of animal feed to storage. It may be taken alongside Food for the Herd) Continuous until snow hits, DC 35 each turn
-[In Progress] Cattle Fences: A project proposed by Jerry, he suggested that we put up some wooden fencing out far from the camp in a wide area. While not perfectly useful as a means to keep things out, it would help with keeping in roaming animals should they ever get loose or we let them out to graze in the wilds. (Set up wooden fencing to keep herd animals contained. Will not stop animals from entering the area. Allows for grazing of animals outside the fence, drastically reducing feed requirements.) 3 turns, DC 30 each turn

[X] Battery Bank: DC 50 - 2 dice used
Most of the people in the camp were in groups that stayed in Outland this week with the only exceptions being the large group that went to Earth in search of batteries to form a power bank. The larger group was under the leadership of Matt as it was decided that he had the best knowledge of where cars would be due to his inclusion on the various expeditions to Earth. He said it would be best if the group went in differing directions, with the groups meeting up together after a day of simple scouting to go over what they found and where they found it.

Rolls=53+74+5(Basic Information, Earth)+10(Enthusiast of Dirt Bikes)+5(Morale)=147(Double DC)

Both groups ended up finding a plethora of car batteries and other large batteries that could be turned into a power bank. The group spent several days going back and forth from the camp to Earth and back, bringing back more and more batteries each time. By the time Richard and Kevin told Matt to stop bringing back batteries, there were several dozen batteries in storage waiting to be put together. All of a minute was spent designating one of the sheds in the warehouse area to be the power shed, mostly due to it being where the generators were already kept. The last several days of the week were setting up shelving units to put the batteries so that they could be changed easily and wiring them together to form a power bank for the camp. Several people who had been working with the generators already turned out to be electricians and helped to make some converters so that the power comes out at the right level.
It was near the end of the week during the time after dinner when everyone was relaxing that the sound of the generators, present for the past couple of weeks, finally turned silent as the power bank took over. There is a silence and then an audible sigh as people realize that the only sound keeping them up that night would be the sounds of nature. Even Richard takes the time to relax, a smile showing up on his face for a few minutes before Bill notices and starts to heckle him, causing the smile to disappear into a neutral expression. Even still, the campers woke up the next day feeling well rested, with many saying that the sound of nature at night was more soothing than the generators.

(Power Bank created. One shed of the warehouse turned into the power shed, it is set up to take in power and give it out at the right level. Enough batteries are gathered that it is possible to turn off the generators at night, though only occasionally. Elongates stored fuel lifetime by several turns.)

The rest of the groups were working in Outland, preparing for the winter to come. Jerry's groups, or the farm hands as they're being informally called, go with him to work on getting animal feed and setting up cattle fences.

[In Progress] Food for the Herd, winter preparations: DC 35 each turn

The group that did the work on cutting, preparing, and storing the hay for the animals has gotten into a consistent routine since they have been doing the same thing for the past couple of weeks. The group splits into smaller sub-groups and they all take turns cutting the grass, condensing it all into bales of hay, and hauling the hay bales to the warehouse area. They switch off at the midpoint of the day so that every member gets a chance to do everything several times over the course of the week.

Roll=92+5(Basic Information, Outland)+15(Professional Farmer)+5(Morale)=112(Artificial crit)(triple DC)

The routine pays off and the group makes significant gains for the animal feed over the week. Jerry comes to meet with them again near the end of the week and just rests with them after helping out for a while. "You all have probably the best work ethic I've ever seen when it comes to farm hands. You're instinctually helping each other when you notice problems and flow together so well that you are making the rest of the groups look lazy by comparison," says Jerry as he looks over the stack of hay bales that will be added to what was kept in the warehouse area. The group is all smiling and some are blushing at the praise when Michelle says "I don't think we'll need to do this again."
Jerry and the rest of the group turn to her and she flushes red but continues to explain. "I've been going over the numbers after we're done working for the day, comparing what we're harvesting to what the animals eat. We've gathered enough over the past couple of weeks that we can feed the animals through the winter with plenty to spare, or at least that's what my back-of-the-napkin math says." "Well let's hear that math of yours and we can see," says Jerry as he settles in to do some discussion on farming and the amounts that animals eat. The discussion goes on for a while and it is discovered that the group does need to continue to harvest animal feed for a while longer. The math was close, however, with the numbers being only a few weeks off from when spring would start on Earth.

(+6 animal feed. Calculations show that there is almost enough animal feed to last through the winter months. Crit means that efforts by this group helped the cattle fences group by having already cut and collected the grass in part of the area they were working towards, leading to a slight DC reduction.)

[In Progress] Cattle Fences: 3 turns, DC 30 each turn (DC 25 this turn from Feed the Herd Crit)

The second group working with Jerry was the one that went to work on the cattle fences for the week. The group had the support of Jerry this week, allowing them to work without needing to find him when it came to getting answers about specific situations. The group even had the benefit of having part of their intended work go through the area already cleared by the group gathering animal feed.

Roll=99+5(Basic Information, Outland)+15(Professional Farmer)+5(Morale)=119(CRIT)(Quadruple DC)

Things ended up going monumentally well this week as the benefit of working on the already cleared ground, coupled with having Jerry along to answer questions and concerns, combined to vastly increase the speed of the group. By the middle of the week, the group managed to complete the cattle fences around the designated area. The group decided to do one last tour around the circumference of the fence, to look over the work they had done and fix any errors they might have made at the beginning. It was one of the members of the group that brought up the idea that changed everything. "Hey, Jerry? I've got a question," says one guy with a look of deep thought. "Yes Michael, what is it?" responds Jerry as he tests one of the fence posts and then nods at it not moving at his tug. "We're making these fences so that the animals can eat the grass out here and to help keep out predators that may want to eat them right?" asks Michael. "That's right, it will also help with expansion in the future," says Jerry as the group moves along the fence."Well, I'm wondering, why don't we cover the outer edge in these wild berry plants I saw when digging out the plants in the way? They're all covered in thorns so it would definitely help against predators and the berries are pretty good."
The group slows to a stop as everyone looks at Michael and specifically the wild raspberries in his hand. The group is silent for a while and then Jerry dryly says "That's a wonderful idea Michael; why don't you lead us to those bushed and we'll plant them on the fence." Michael brings the group back to the bushes he found and grabs some more berries, eating them, quickly. The rest of the week was a frenzy of pulling in everyone available to move the bushes so that they are planted along the outside of the fence and woven into the fence itself.

(Cattle fence completed due to quadruple DC. The animal herd is let out to graze and then brought back during the night, allowing the camp to store harvested hay for winter alone. The natural Crit means that the fence is covered in the wild Raspberries that one of the group found in the woods. This provides +1 immediate food and makes the fence a bigger barrier against all animals that are either not small enough to move around it or big enough to avoid it entirely. Realistically this means that you don't have to worry about dire wolves and saber-toothed tigers specifically attacking during the day.)

[X] Set up next-tier housing: DC 40 - 2 dice used

Bill was in charge of the group that was putting up the pop-up shelters that Matt had brought back from Earth. This was a larger group, with around a quarter of the campers coming together to improve the housing situation. The group went out and asked people whether they would prefer to have a more completely solid shelter like the sheds or an improvised one like the pop-up tents with added sides.

Roll=90+65+10(Organized Camp)+5(Morale I)=170(Artificial Crit)(Quadruple DC)

It turns out that the information they were asking for would not be needed for setting everything up. The groups, once they got everything in the right places, started finding lots of spare pieces and connectors that would allow sheds to be put together for instance. They started to put everything together and eventually ended up with several amalgamations where multiple sheds or shelters were constructed together, with there being walls inside set up for better privacy. The campers ended up being the biggest factor for this change, with many stating that they preferred to have a more communal, dorm-like setup than individual shelters. This should have been seen beforehand seeing as most of the campers are college students.
When everything was said and done, the housing area looked nothing like what was expected but was actually better than expected. The more communal setting made people happier and allowed friends to share spaces with each other. The people who wanted individual shelters were able to get them with the allocated sheds and were even able to add things like blankets to the walls to pretty up the place and increase heat retention. Then the idea of heat retention spread and many people were hanging up blankets or other non-used cloth items near the outer walls to help heat retention. The shed walls were eventually covered with moss and mud to both give a more nature-related vibe and to increase the heat retention of the shelters in general. The combination of everything put the camp in a better mood, prompting many to wonder if things weren't so bad in general.

(Quadruple crit means that this action and the action after to insulate the buildings are finished. The Artificial crit makes it so that the housing now gives +1 morale as the camp gains a better sense of community.

[X] Planned Exploration: DC 30

There were two other groups that were doing things in Outland while Jerry's groups had productive weeks. The first of those groups was a group made up of geology and geography students as well as those who like to explore. This group headed out with a protection detail from the military and spent the week exploring the wilderness around the camp.

Roll=47+5(Basic Information, Outland)+10(Enthusiast of Dirt Bikes)+5(Scouting Force)+5(Morale I)=72(Double DC)

The group compiled drawings of the camp surroundings and followed along the edge of the forest and along the river leading to the lake. The group made several passes of the area, increasing the accuracy of their maps as they progressed. At the end of the week, the group turned in a general map of the area, with the pertinent features like the lake and dump spot noted, the edge of the forest mapped out for a way, and had managed to note several areas that looked to be the domain of predators or aggressive prey animals. The map was quickly copied and given to the military as well as the project group so that they could better plan for the future.

(Double DC means that the map is better than expected, providing a DC decrease of 6 instead of 3. Further exploration options unlocked.)

[X] Build a basic air base: DC 50-6(Area Map, Basic)=44

The last of the groups that were working in Outland this week was set to build the basics for an air base. While only useful for holding the single ultralight plane currently stored in the camp, it would also allow things to be done with that plane. Thanks to work by the group that went out to make a map of the area, a good-sized area was chosen for its clear sight lines to the sky.

Roll=57+5(Basic Information, Outland)+5(Morale I)=67

The area ended up working out well for an air base. The ground was pounded down by wooden sticks and then flattened by rolling a heavy drum over the area. This formed a basic runway for the plane to use and took up the majority of the week. Building the shed for the ultralight was actually easier and only took around a day as there was a shed that was large enough to house it near the un-assembled plane. Once the shed was set up, the engineers and aviators were quick to get the plane assembled and then taken for a quick flight to test the plane and the runway.
Once the plane was back on the ground and powered down, the pilot started to talk about things. "First off, the plane is fine by my reckoning. I didn't feel anything wrong when flying it and had no issue pulling off test maneuvers. The only issue I encountered was during take-off and landing, there are parts of the runway that isn't even enough and it was noticeable on take-off and landing." The pilot took the group out to the areas he thought there were problems and when the problems were found, they were swiftly but carefully corrected.

(Success. Level 1 airbase was built for the camp. Plane built and stored in a large enough shed. Options unlocked.)

Random Event Roll=05(Critical Failure)
Rolling for which failure Scenario on a 5 (rolling a d6)=5 (Losing food)
Rolling for Crit fail scenario 5 based on stats(Rolling D(Total Food-1)10)=2

The camp wakes up one morning to a shriek. When people get up to go check on the situation, some woozily and some with battle on their minds. The shrieks continue to come from …the Canteen? What happened there? When the military eventually leaves the area, they do so with several very large and very dead rat-like creatures held by the tail. What apparently happened was that one of the kitchen staff for the day was going to get something to start on breakfast and when they opened the door to the canteen warehouse, they saw several of the rat creatures staring back at them. The rest of the situation is easily sussed out from there. An inventory of the food supplies was taken in the aftermath of the incident and a burrowed hole was found near the back of the food shed. When the hole was filled in and inventory was taken, it was found that about 2 weeks' worth of food had been either opened or eaten by the critters. "We were lucky," says Richard as he looks at the shed. "If they hadn't been discovered until later, they might have made their way through much more of the food."

(-2 food eaten by rat creatures in the night. Options unlocked. One poor canteen staff member is now terrified of rats.)

The dire wolf pack had been acting around the border for weeks already, being a constant presence. The attack this week starts out normally, with the border guards seeing a part of the pack walking toward the walls. "Dire wolf pack spotted, north of the forest tower," says one of the guards into a radio. The border guards reposition to take into account the attack from the dire wolves. The border guards fend off the attack by half of the pack and as they were relaxing from the first attack, the words "Fence Breached, South side!" screams out from the radios accompanied by the sound of gunfire. The guards quickly scramble toward the south edge of the camp, already hearing the screaming of campers.
The Military group ends up intercepting the medical personnel sprinting towards the attack. "Stay behind us!" yells one of the guards as the larger group continues to sprint towards the screaming. The medical personnel move behind the guards, with the whole group cresting over a hill to see the attack. "Contact spotted, light them up!" yells out the head guard as the group crests the hill and starts to fire at the wolves. Several wolves are hit and the attacking wolves quickly run away after they notice your group running toward them. "Medical, get to the wounded! We'll keep you covered!" yells the head guard as the group of reinforcing guards spread out to provide a better field of fire.
"Trauma teams, get to the wounded!" yells out Tina as she gets to the attacked campers and starts to diagnose and fix problems. She grabs the arm of a screaming camper and starts to work. "Lacerations on the upper arm, no damage to major arteries, compress and stop the bleeding." Medical terms spill out of her mouth as the knowledge she spent years of schooling for becomes suddenly and immediately important. The next couple of hours is a blur for Tina, with many campers helped and a few that had to be skipped for already being dead or being beyond help. It is only when someone shakes her arm, yelling her name, that she starts out of the trance. "Whu-?" "Tina, thank god! You can stop, everyone's fixed who can be," says Richard as he holds her arm looking into her eyes. Tina starts to complain and try to get away, saying "But there's still people injured, we need to-" "You got to everyone you could Tina, and others got to those you didn't. Trust in your team, they did their best," says Richard, with a look of great sadness in his eyes.

Geez, some pretty good rolls balanced out by the bad. The fuckin wolves. People must be terrified and traumatized, didn't we spend a lot of effort on fortifying? Plus the horror of Yellowstone... Brutal.

Given how powerful doing multiple times the DC is and how we don't really have any major resource crisis on hand I want to spam all the dice on a action to buff the rewards from it as far as we can go

You don't know how happy I am you guys got an excellent medical re-roll.
I did NOT want to have to get 22 camper death rolls.
Even at 7, it was still pretty bad

Given how powerful doing multiple times the DC is and how we don't really have any major resource crisis on hand I want to spam all the dice on a action to buff the rewards from it as far as we can go
I will say I don't have a rewards table entirely made for if you guys do something like this.
I have some things but If you did that, I don't know WHAT would actually happen; there's too big a range for the dice.

we really do need to deal with the dire wolves in the upcoming turn, and i for one really want some pet dire wolves integrated in our settlement, given it should make any attack by other animals harder to succeed, given they will fight back.
depending on if they are big and strong enough for it, i would imagine the dire wolves could potentially be used as transportation for our settlers.

Turn 14 Rumor Mill
United States Government
- The effects of winter in the northern latitudes of the nation have come to a rough start, with snow storms and cold weather hammering cities and towns. Across the northern states of the US, stores are selling out heavier winter clothes, snow tools, and all other winter-related paraphernalia.
-In interesting news, Apple has announced that its newest software updates will be intended will elongate the battery life of most newer model phones. The phones with the newest hardware and software will be able to extend battery life to upwards of 15%. This move by the tech giant is seen as a welcome change by its customers, with many saying that they will "keep their old phone for that little bit longer to save up for the newest model." The company saw a short dip in sales followed by a massive increase as customers already looking for new phones bought the latest model, hooked by its new longer battery life.
-The efforts to help the state of Hawaii have intensified from a strange angle as many people on the west coast donate to services like the red cross that are helping out with the relief efforts after the tropical storm that hit the islands. A spokesperson from the Red Cross at the scene said that "This is the first time I've seen so much immediate support for disaster relief efforts from the general public."
BBC World Service
- After a tumultuous time in the world, the US stock exchanges have opened back up to the public, with the trading floor seeing stock prices fluctuating back to normal levels. People in the economic sector of many countries breathe a sigh of relief as they get back to their jobs.
-Winter has officially come to the northern hemisphere and the temperatures being recorded are already setting records for the coldest temperatures at similar times of the year. "The last time temperatures were this low was decades ago," says one climate scientist from Cambridge university.
-In the Country of Mexico, Several cities have been taken over by the gangs and cartels that work in nearby areas. In a statement they put out to the media, the occupiers have said that "The Mexican people must protect themselves in this time of uncertainty." With soldiers being called to deal with the issue of gang occupations, the situation looks to become tense.
Outland camp
-The attacks by the dire wolf pack have caused many campers to wonder at the purpose behind all the preparations they are doing. Corporal Chavez of the Military division has been calming the anger that these fears generate ad directing it towards the campers training themselves.
-As winter has started, many people are realizing that they don't know as much about Outland as they may think. Monica, one of the GO, was heard saying that "We need to get books on the animal life that would have existed back in the same period on Earth, at least then we would know about other possible threats or dangers to the camp."
-Richard, the de facto leader of the camp, has been seen moping around the camp, talking to people and sharing the sadness they feel. When questioned about why he looks sadder than he did last time, Richard replies "I don't think it was well known, but Julie and I had agreed to try having a relationship when things cooled down. I know we didn't have any actual closeness as of yet, but I can still mourn for what could have been."
??????
-In the aftermath of the attack on the camp, a group of individuals slowly make their way to another area, ostensibly to mourn. When the group gathers together, one of them with his arm in a sling says "This kind of puts things in perspective." "I would think so," says another person. The conversation continues on that line for a while, with the group considering their priorities. "We are lesser, now," says the leader, over the rest of the group. When they turn quiet to listen, the leader repeats "We are lesser, now. We have lost one of the people in our group and it will affect our plans going forward. Mervin would have been the face of the group, presenting an older figure of authority that could have been rallied around. The other options available," says the leader while looking at two members of the group. "Well, they declined the position. Unless they would like to step forward?" The group is silent and when no one steps up, the leader continues "We will have to change plans; that will set us back. Any suggestions on possible solutions?" The group continues to talk into the night, only breaking up when it's time to sleep.
-Giovanni Polo continued to plan an expedition to find another continent while going about his daily life. He knew that he would not be allowed to start anything without the king's permission, but he could still plan for the future. He questioned merchants under his employ about the things that they bring with them for long voyages. He worked on setting aside funds to pay for the expedition, assuming it gets approval. He even started to work on possible travel routes into the Dark Sea, despite understanding that what he planned was liable to change in the extreme. He puts down his efforts in writing as even if he is not able to go on the expedition in his lifetime, his family may be able to get the approval they need after he is gone. Speculating would have to be his best recourse for now; As his friend, Minister Cortez had said, nothing this large can be done without the approval of the king.

- I'm sensing bias for Hawaii and Apple...

- Seems like the group needs to adapt their way of thinking...

- So we're gonna meet Giovanni in the near future...

P.S. I feel we should have more rolls with options taking the dice option... but this is your work. Also, I get a feeling there might me magic here... maybe I'm just paranoid...

A couple of things here.
  1. I roll a background dice to decide what gets to the rumor mill each turn, Hawaii and apple were two of the three I rolled this time.
  2. Giovanni put in the proposal but the background roll to meet the king and continue his story arc hasn't passed the DC yet.
  3. As to adapting the camp's way of thinking, give me some options; I add them in frequently.
  4. For the dice being removed options, I have some on my project list but only one has been unlocked.
As for the issue of magic...I think I mentioned how the portals work before? If I haven't let me know.
