In Which I Play Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: The Seventh Stand-User

Okay so I get that Dio has a copy of Hermit Purple (because fuck you that's how) which lets him regularly spy on the team. And I get that he has ~*CHARISMA*~ at A+ rank and flesh buds and four years to build his army. What I don't get is the dirt-simple logistics with regards to getting those hitmen to the group. Nobody has a teleportation Stand. Yeah Dio can tell them where the team is going to be with Hermit Purple and send some there ahead of time to have them lie in wait but his assassins have been on their dicks on literally every leg of the journey. It's just non-stop infinite Stand-users from Japan to Cairo, as if Dio stashed cronies in every major city with a generous margin for error on a line between Cairo and Japan. It's bullshit, is what I'm saying. It would've been easier to swallow if at least some midway stops were incident free but Araki just couldn't fucking help himself so it's like the Crusaders all have danger-magnets in their asses.

Considering that in later parts it's actually CONFIRMED that Stand Users are actually danger magnets that attract other Stand Users to themselves, yeah.

... how come Dio didn't just let them come to Cairo? I mean like, if he just gathered his clearly infinite rolodex of Stand-user hitmen and had them all wait in the terminal for the group (or hell, let Grey Fly crash the plane first so he has some extra time to call them all to Cairo) the group would be fucked the moment they stepped off the plane by sheer weight of numbers. Plus, Dio has no reason at all to fear them, because he has The World and even limited by his jank-ass half-human body five seconds of time-stop lets him easily murder all the others and only Deus Ex Machina saves Jotaro from him. Third, doesn't he need Joestar blood to complete his fusion with Jonathan's body!? If by some miracle Dio's henchmen had succeeded at murdering all the currently living Joestars Dio would've been straight fucked.

You're an idiot, Mr. Brando~

Also, evil is NOT one big happy family. Some of these people have honor, and probably wouldn't work with the other guys. And even if they could, their powers could potentially be incompatible, meaning BAM! instant fuck up. Stands are powerful, but they're so individualized they can't be used to make a psychic army. And another thing, this is DIO. The man both wants these minions dead and the Joestars dead so that he can suck the blood out of their bodies. I mean, come on man, he has a blood feud with these people, of course he'll have them killed before he sucks their blood.

Why would he want to kill his minions? Seeing someone fail where you succeed infaltes your ego, and if DIO has anything, it's an ego he'll do anything to inflate.

Look at how bad some of the minions are. Anyone would want them to fail.

Why can't a few of them be kept in reserve? Keeping Enya and J.Geil in reserve for example would be a massive boost since if anyone gets so much as scratched in the fight then Enya will have them. He doesn't need to keep all of them there, just a few who'll work together properly.

Good point.

Most likely because DIO might not want his minions to win. He just wants them to weaken the party with repeated assaults until they come to DIO, so he can kill them without opposition. If his minions fail, probably a bonus.

It makes sense because DIO's an egocentric, bloodthirsty madman. He would only hire people because he wants to see them fail or because they have undying loyalty to him, and I'm not the only one who thinks he's going to pull a Joker and say "Only I BEAT BATMAN-I MEAN, JOTARO!".

Also, sorry for double posting, but it's weird that Joseph's portrayed as a racist when A) Other than Japan, he mostly explores and respects foreign cultures in part 3, B) he worked with an Italian in WW2 and C) He saved an African-American from getting brutalized by The Police.

These are the actions of one of the most open minded, racially tolerant characters in fiction, not a racist.

A better joke would be making him a PC bro when it comes to every culture except Japan. The sheer dissonance and hypocrisy would be hilarious.

He also was somewhat friendly with a nazi!

... To be fair, this isn't a good point for the lack of racism...

Stronheim was in with other races, he even openly admired the bravery of that one Mexican kid who was going to sacrifice himself.

...I think he is a super patriot/nationalist because he's honestly bad at being a nazi bar the mad science part.

You kidding?

He should have been calling Caesar a "fascist [racial slur beginning with w] face", not an ally in the fight against the Pillar men.

Come on man, they were close enough that many people plausibly speculate that Joseph dating Suzi Q was a cover for his true love; Caesar.
