Unless I'm missing something, the new upkeep is 53g. 88 - 35 = 53. Therefore, even the minimal embezzling will be enough to stay in the black. Our new upkeep will cost 63g, and new gains 60+?g, most likely around 10-20g.
By and large, except for the first Marshal he had to shoot for padding the records with hundreds of fake soldiers, embezzling their pay and hollowing out the army?More and more I feel spoiled by Stirland. Van Hal kept a tight council and his advisors, by and large, were good at their jobs. Silverport… not so much.
It wasn't all that catastrophic. The Abominations didn't even destroy the city! But you're right in thinking that word did eventually reach Heaven. At first they thought it was just particularly powerful rogue cultivators of some sort, so initial response was just to notify your former city god (you know, the one that got removed for dereliction of duty) with a request to round up some good-aligned cultivators, here's a heavenly writ of authority to help you along, please get this sorted out.@Exmorri Something that's been tickling in the back of my head for a while, what do any of the capital 'G', great Overworld Gods know about the appearance and existence of the Abominations? Surely an event of such catastrophic scale must have reached one of the Incarnae-equivalents, even if it might not have reached the big man himself.
Blasphemy: Charms with this keyword snarl the Tapestry when activated in Creation or Yu-Shan, triggering alerts in the Loom of Fate and the Realm Defense Grid's central control room that each display the Charm's basic effect, the Infernal's Essence rating and the location where the Charm was activated. How the forces of Heaven respond generally depends on available resources and the relative threat posed by the incursion, but any use of these Charms invites some possibility of intervention by Sidereal demon hunters or their often-unwitting pawns in Creation.
Pretty much. You could also look into setting up a semaphore/heliograph.Okay, so as far as I'm aware, our information relay capacity is basically runner on a horse, which is too far to administrate directly, and vulnerable to bandits.
Nooooo, next turn would be the time to diplomance Bridge, Wisdom, and Ascension, to reduce our competent clerk rep. We are so close to having a minor diplo status with three great clans. It seems like now that we've somewhat stemmed the financial bleeding and actually have a source of somewhat capable subordinates it might be time to start working on larger projects like a central bank or maybe some form of insurance. Both of these would provide our merchants with a massive advantage over competitors.
Isn't that a self-limiting problem, which will mostly be a bad end for scholars who are stupid about it?Regular scholars getting their hands on knowledge of the kind detailed in the Book of Gates seems like a Bad End.
Isn't that a self-limiting problem, which will mostly be a bad end for scholars who are stupid about it?
Well, that was popular. Out of curiosity, do you wish to lead this secret organization yourself? And then dedicate it to reverse-engineering the tools and weapons of the Abominations as well as their lore? Possibly even militarize the secret organization in expectation of the Abominations' return?
They don't stay open permanently, if that's what you're worried about. See the study action in turn 6:Demon portals sounds like the kind of problem that survive the cause
Still a bad idea for many other reasons though. The fourth world is barred and forbidden, but can be briefly breached with certain inauspicious deeds and rituals. The Book of Gates sets out just how worryingly easy that is.
(...)
"First, because the practices described in the Book of Gates do not strictly speaking summon demons. They merely open gates, as the name suggests. And the gates are temporary."
(...)
"the demon has to be paying attention to notice the gate before it closes again."

-[X] Stop Embezzling
So this is pretty much as the plan name suggests, the same as Removing Impurities but with us fully stopping our embezzling. The reason I went for this is as an example to set prior to spending four actions on this exact thing, because it could be used as leverage in the future even if it's unlikely, and our boss has a Vigilance blessing on him. I also think it's quite wise narratively as if we don't I feel there is a near inevitable follow up vote on what to do with people who are doing the exact same thing we are, particularly if they are aware of us having done so in the past when it was more blatant.
If we want more money legally via our office we can just do as past stewards have done and either get a pay rise, or have the state subsidize our research reducing our expenses.
You know what, I kind of agree with you on your first point. The only upcoming expense we're aware of is the trading mission opportunity cost, so I think it would be fine to swap promote mirrormetal out for it this turn. Having a bad ending then stopping the lessons just feels slightly wrong, and if it feels wrong then I imagine there may be a relationship point drop.Eh, it also doesn't have the action of studying the book with Three as I would have preferred, but it stops the embezzlement at least. If our suspicion is correct and Shining Void knows (or at least has a suspicion) about our embezzlement, just reducing it to undetectable amounts is kind of redundant, as it has been detected already.

Not in that the portals stick around, in that things pass in and our while its open and THAT has consequences which stick aroundThey don't stay open permanently, if that's what you're worried about. See the study action in turn 6:

The normal standard for an audit of palace spending is two actions on watching money as it is being spent in the present, and one action on checking over past transactions.
Thanks, given a total of 4 actions are being spent, I'll change to an even split of two and two.I'd like to remind people of this, since most of the plans seem to focus very heavily on past auditing.
