Finally the cabin building arc, can we get a basic blueprint layout when its time? I want to envision it properly.

Open layout is nice except for if you expect to be working with others around in which case noise tends to travel.

I'm thinking the human ghosts would probably either move on, become a pokemon or part of one, depending on how they form?

Coherency during the transition seems fragile
On one end, you have those who make it through mostly intact, such as Charlie, and on the other you have those that are disparate pieces creating a new entity. Then you also have ghosts that you could call 'natural born,' as the result of other ghosts.

Sorry to push. I don't expect you to defend them, they were pretty obviously intended to be an asshat; this just might actually be important for if Espeon ever does get therapy.
Eh, you're not in my head(I hope), and it's not like there was much else to go on with Mitsuaki.

I don't know if I'll draw up a blueprint, but there will probably be more descriptions.

This does remind me, how do egg groups work here?
For example Leafeon is in the Field Egg Group whereas Misdreavus is in the Amorphous Egg Group in the games.

Legendaries have no Egg Groups and yet in the Anime they do breed, and even in the games there are multiples of certain ones occasionally.

In true scientific fashion, they're based off of observed pairings that result in reproduction and/or physical reproductive traits. Thus, you can group pokemon by reproductive compatibility. Egg-groups are simply a sorting mechanism that describes if two pokemon are sexually compatible.

Basically, I'm reversing the game mechanic.

I think it's also implied by the term "separation mortality" that Espeons can actually die if they get too lonely. Something to do with psychic bonds, maybe?

Pretty much, yeah. Waste away until they starve to death. Because without their bond-partner they have no desire to keep living, and convincing them to do so in the absence of their partner is basically impossible (maybe if they and their partner specifically prepared for it, like a trainer who knew they were dying and refused to let their Espeon follow them?). It's why Espeon bonded with literally the first human to show him positive behavior since he was abandoned to those asshats. There's a similar phenomenon over in Borne of Caution with Sylveon, another friendship eevee evo.

Since you made it to the end, I have a question about something I've been spinning around in my head recently. Should I start a discord for this?
I'm personally unsure, but I also feel like it's a way to stay connected and update people about stuff.

discords are easy to sink lots of start-up time into, but also very fun to put together. So long as you keep a "Gamble Aware" mentality then go with whatever you feel like!

The way i'm always reminded about the existence of crime in the pokemon worlds is truly disheartening. It constantly makes me realize how growing up with a thing is losing the magic and makes one see this thing as generic and normal.

Sentient animals are not generic. Especially those who are on par if not smarter than humans. How anyone could be as cruel as pokemon poachers, whilst using pkmn of their own is truly one of the mysteries of all time.

Thanks for the chapter.

To put on my real-author-cap™ for a moment, treating non-humans as subhuman is a very common occurrence in stories that feature them. Normally as some commentary on how we aren't all as good as we want to believe.

And there's certainly an element of that here, but, more simply, it's both unfortunately realistic and how the canon goes. AND Cooperators exist, pokemon that are simply cruel themselves or would rather choose the path of least resistance. And yet, the Pokemon franchise itself provides explanations to why and how beyond that. You can break a pokemon. You can make them obey though cruelty and technology. And of course some people are going to abuse that.

A bit dark, maybe, but that's the thinking I came to that can explain it.
