Nope. Not in the Quest System.[X] Massacre everything between the hero and his goal so you can get back to what you were doing. The role of the Narrative Expeditor.
Note that any Role taken is a Protagonist Role either way.The later might ensure that we're on the front lines though. I know we can handle fights but wouldn't it be nicer to just stay in the villages, searching info there instead of having to join in on the battles under the reason of "to make sure the record is accurate" ?
The Quest System gives everyone a Role and/or Goal to achieve and then sorta just watches things spiral out from that.Though I have to ask... Does "Fate" ensure that the heroes will be victorious? Or maybe that, a hero will be victorious, just not necessarily this one. Or thing are not predetermined in that way, except the roles that every one get? (and because nothing last forever, even if a demon lord is successful for thousands of years, there will eventually be a time where they fail).
That actually sounds kind of awesome. Because of the quest system, every Hero is psyching themselves up for trying to get Excalibur, but when they finally get to the mystical glen or whatever, there's no test, no challenge just us nonchalantly letting them do whatever they want as long as they don't mess with the sword (ex-demon lord makes it really hard to do anything we think is over the line) and explaining that we agreed to the deal so we don't have to go threw the hassle of reincarnating all the time. Just a total mind screw.Well, there seems to be confusion, so to clarify: the Ascended doesn't turn Revya into inanimate weapon, she more or less becomes the personification/anthropomorphic of the Blade Of Ten Heavens -- a Weapon Spirit, to give a name.
Of course, becoming the the PLOT WEAPON is...

-[X] ...Shatter the blade, so it cannot be used. The role of the Traitor.
Because I'm spiteful, if I was dragged off on some Quest without any choice in the matter I would destroy the Plot Item just to spite someone.
But wasn't the recruitment of the reincarnated demon lord a quest that the hero and his rival just had to do? And so it's not really their faults.
Depends on how the fusion goes about.Trying to get my head wrapped around this. Does she gain the abilities of the Blade of Ten Heavens while the physical sword disappears thereby becoming the living weapon? Or is she gonna be like the weapons from Soul Eater? or be bound to the physical sword with benefits like, she gets to choose whether its wielder can use the sword but if something happens to the sword, she'll be in danger too?
The Plot Hook would have been Revya being the only-survivor or a friend of a very passionate-survivorHey @Shintouyu , what kind of plot hooks did you have planned, had the Destroyed Hometown been chosen?
I mean, we'd practically be obligated to go on an epic quest for the power to Purge the Church of it's Radically Extremest Elements/Cull the Draconic Population/Subjugate the Demonic Commonwealth or you know, just Kill'em'all. Maybe even getting a head start on phase two by taking off the Ring of Supreme Hardship andDemon Blastingfinishing off the victorious side, since they so kindly exhausted themselves in the battle that blew up our home.
I'm railling against the Quest System and it's not like I give a crap about them. But wasn't the recruitment of the reincarnated demon lord a quest that the hero and his rival just had to do? And so it's not really their faults.
Huh, I kind of anticipated (1) and (2), but I didn't see (3) coming. I'm guessing the Guardian basically stops any world threatening conflicts, or just prevents them from spiralling into that. The Plot Hook would have been Revya being the only-survivor or a friend of a very passionate-survivor(I'M GOING TO KILL ALL THE TITANS!).
She would get shunted into (1) causing genocide, (2) unraveling politic mysteries, or (3) become the Guardian for the rest of her life.
There are other variations (like Revya starting her own Faction to play peacekeeper or domination) but those are the basic 3.
Except they had no idea that we were the reincarnated demon lord (I think).

With the role of Traitor we are designated by Fate to "betray the Hero" this is not limited to solely destroying the Blade, but also making it harder to find in the first place, acting as a Final Boss (which would be a bad thing, except we're hideously overleveled), subtly screwing over the other members of the Party.
And I think that that's more fun than "Chronicler" or the other options.
I didn't vote for Betrayer because that could make for a very short Quest, assuming one of these two is the "true wielder of the Blade" we could just kill them both right here and now with very little effort.
Love Interest, Damsel, Usurper, etc.So would the captured for magical power start choice shoe-horn us into one of those Magical Battery/Damsel roles? Or could we have gone the Usurper route and taken the local Dark Lord as a Mid-Boss minion?
Nah, it's as straight-forward as it sounds.Oh, and what about the kidnapped route? That looks like a one-way street, but I wonder if there were any alt-routes in it.
Basically, yes. They're either random or people who fit the bill. What are Dark Lords and Demon Lords anyway? Just random schmucks who got designated as primary antagonists? Do they get any benefits or is our power from the diminishing snowball effect from a degrading reincarnation?
This worries me to no end and I love it.
