I Refuse To Die As A Background Character!

... I'm sorry, but the only thing I could think of the whole time I read that was "the hell's a guy named Robert Smith doing writing a harem action anime for a Japanese company?" Not that I didn't like it anyway.

On skills to acquire, I think rounding out our weaker skills first is more important. Our high skills are currently pretty much cakewalk for this early in the plot, but our disguise is merely humanly good, not superhumanly. Need to preserve our identity, because once the Mysterious person is outed, their popularities in both guises tend to merge!

@InfiniteDaze

Hmm. Right now. I would recommend boosting one of our skills.

Our Sleight of Hand is already in a pretty good level. Not Phantom Blue's but it's at an excellent level to steal from most people.

I would recommend either Infiltration or Stealth. As a skill level up.

Disguise would be good too as. With our coat. We could pull a 'Behind My Mask. Is AnotherMask'. Tricks. Turning ourselves to other people would be kinda hilarious when people try rip off our mask all the time.

...So...conflicted....

I'd recommend Stealth. We REALLY need to be able to sneak around, and there is only so much our cloak can do to help with that. Sure, we can disguise ourselves, but I am sure we want to nose around in areas NOBODY should be in.

Alternatively, Infiltration might be good for making our disguises more authentic, depending on what it includes.

Scary Thoughts

2 Months before Events Start

As you walk home one day after class, you spot a manga in a book shop which draws your attention. The title is 'History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi'
as you read through the manga, you realize that you have seen those exact machines before. It was in your previous life back when you were an apprentice. Granted as you continued to read the series you began to understand the MC's pains with the training. You also remembered the additional training that your teacher would give you to improve how sneaky you could be. The extra training revolved around having multiple bells tied to your body and learning to move without making a single noise. it started off with ten bells but it soon became four hundred bells. Deciding that you should pick up the old training methods of your teacher while continuing to read the manga series you eventually remember something that would scare you if you didn't have one of those legendary NOPE moments. Your Teachers last name was Kōetsuji, However that would explain why He constantly seemed to create more and more annoying training machines.

An idea I came up with after reading some of the new Omakes.

How magic or whatever works exactly in this universe. The underlying constants which the writers are putting in. If Phantom Drives always do a particular thing or Phantom Hearts always show up in particular situations or even if, on this Earth, gravity can be mathematically rendered as 9.5 instead of 9.8 like our own, or if gravity is variable based on how much love is in your heart, all of that is setting mechanics. How does this universe work at the structural level?

I want the crunchy bits out of the tie-in tabletop rpg.

.....Okay? I'll try my best, maybe?

All Phantoms when they are defeated, through combat or other means, drop either a heart fragment if they are a relatively weak phantom or a complete Heart if they are relatively strong. There are exceptions to this rule, such as weak phantoms dropping a complete heart or a strong phantom releasing not even a heart fragment, but it is uncommon to encounter such as thing.

Phantom Drives act as mediums that connect the souls of Phantom Users to the essence within the Phantom Hearts. What the Phantom Drive is draw upon the spirit energy from the user's soul and combine it with the essence from the Phantom Heart, if there is a good compatibility, a Phantasm Arm manifests. While it is possible to use Phantom Hearts without a Drive to act as a medium, doing so is extremely dangerous and one who does such a thing risks having their souls consumed resulting in death of the user and a new Phantom based on the user and the nature of the phantom heart used.

When a Phantom Drive comes into contact with a new person, if the person has a greater compatibility with the Phantom Hearts within the drive, there is a high probability of the Phantom Drive switching its ownership over to that person. When this happens, the Phantom Drive immediately changes its form to reflect its new user. When a Phantom Drive comes into the possession of a user that has low compatibility, it takes time for the Phantom Drive to be used by that person as it requires time to slowly shift its nature to become compatible with the new user.

People in Phantom Hearts heal faster than reality. There are also much wider range of natural hair colour.

Feh. Does this work cause that's all you're getting.

I'm now tempted to ask more on what Phantoms are but with my luck with dice it would probably be suck.

Hmm, skill upgrades...

Can we get one of the ???????? skils?

Parkour and MacGuyvering seem the most immediately useful. Poison Resistance and Contortion would be nice, but are too situational for my liking. Razor Floss Mastery is either incredibly awesome, or incredibly stupid. Or both.

Since when being Walter from Hellsing hasn't been awesome? At least combat-wise, that is. Just looking at someone disapprovingly and having the gun they aim at us slowly slide into two pieces would be all kinds of awesome.

I'd love to take MacGuyvering, though, since we will obviously be using it a lot: we already used it at school and netted our first villain, after all. So I will vote either RFM or MacGuyvering, whichever will gain most support.

Oh my god we just have to get Parkour how else are we suppose to leap from on top of tall buildings into bails of hay.

...By leaping and flying as far as we need with our cape to stick the landing?

True, but remember that there are apparently ways of detecting a Phantom Arm when it's active, so if we're trying to stealth past/run from the Dark Company and other Phantom Users we'll be SOL. So Parkour is situationally useful, at the least.

True, but I am pretty sure we'd get more mileage out of Stealth or Infiltration in that case, since I think we will be snooping around in Phantom Guard and Dark Company affairs indoors than leaping on rooftops. Parkour would be good skill to have on our beck and call should the need arise, but I'd rather know how to sneak well, build improvised things better (since we can use that in so many situations) or just master the art of Razor Cape Floss.
