Good snip, neat to see their side of things, and yeah – good on Roxanne to wonder how much she was missing.

Tangential, bit of a pet peeve:

Happy nonspecific winter holiday, everybody!

Just something worth a thought, and directed at all generally, not Dermonster in particular – if you're saying "happy holidays" instead of "merry Christmas" in an attempt to be inclusive, but you only actually say that in the immediate vicinity of Christmas, it might be worth reflecting on what that means a bit. This year, Diwali was November 2-6. Chanukah was November 28-December 6. I'm not sure which Islamic holidays and other occurrences would most relevant to note, since that calendar isn't linked to seasons and some events are observed more broadly than others, but Wikipedia doesn't list anything for a month and a half from now in either direction. If you're celebrating Christmas, I do hope you enjoy it, but lots of the rest of us have had our notable holidays for the season already, if there are any.

(This is admittedly much more of a frustration for things other than well-wishing, which is relatively minor; Santa songs and red and green decorations called "holiday" and "festive", maybe one hanukkiah a week late or with the wrong number of arms. If you mean Christmas, say it! Inclusiveness means considering other peoples's holidays, not pretending yours are everyone's.)

Happy Holidays!

And dubious canonicity or not seeing the gym leaders as capable people who workshop with each other about things they find interesting/actually important to the region never gets old.

I just did this research, actually, and Islam doesn't actually have any winter holidays whatsoever. Both of its holidays are Eid, being the last ten days of Ramadan, and the first ten days of the Month of Pilgrimage. These took place this year in May and June respectively, so not a snowball's chance in the eighth circle of them getting anywhere near Samhain.

Slight correction - Islamic holidays are based on a lunar calendar, and a lunar year is 11-12 days shorter than a solar year so they move around on a solar calendar and eventually will end up in the winter again.

As for the "Happy Holidays" versus "Merry Christmas" debate, I'm fine with "Happy Holidays". People want to wish well towards others, and they don't want to assume that everyone they talk to is a Christian celebrating Christmas. Making it so that they feel too anxious to use "Happy Holidays" and can only use "Merry Christmas" means they're likely to simply say nothing because it's pretty awkward if they say "Merry Christmas", and the person they're talking to doesn't celebrate Christmas.

Back on topic! I'm really looking forward to Astra eventually meeting Tate and Liza. Will their psychic powers be able to see through Astra's illusions? Does a pokemon's telepathy sound different from a human's telepathy? Even if they do realize that she's a pokemon, will they tell anyone else, or will they decide to support her journey? Imagining all of the possibilities is so fun! :D

I had thought that there were corrections in place for that sort of drift, but apparently that's not the case for Islam like it is for Judaism.

hums a few bars of "Golbeze, Clad in the Dark"

would post a link but is not sure what the rules on that are.
It would be hilarious if that just started playing whenever Astra is the centre of attention...
Astra: "Why would I have more personal possessions than a single pokeball and the clothes on my back?" *ominous music*
May: "Why is there suddenly music!?!"

Astra: "I must wear this all-consuming black rag at all times!" *ominous music*
May: "black clothing isn't enough to justify that tune. You are far too cute to pull off the edgelord act."

Astra: "Babies come from eggs?" *ominous music*
May: "Oh, okay, the music makes sense now! Oooh, let me try..."
May: "You should ask Brendan about that!" *One-winged Angel plays*

I think that I have seen youtube links to songs that went unmolested, but I am no moderator...

As it was cut, it's canonicity is...no longer concrete. But it is a version, and because I wrote it, it will probably be seen as the truth.
I mean, it's still canon that Roxanne called Tate and Liza to discuss this topic:
Roxanne picked up her phone and dialed a number. It rang twice before someone answered.

"Roxanne!" A duo of voices echoed each other across the line, both childish and pitched high.

"It's been—" the boy exclaimed.

"So long!" the girl finished, sharing in the boy's eagerness.

"What's up?" they chorused.

"Hello Tate, Liza," Roxanne greeted, a little awkwardly. She knew how to deal with children, of course. But it was different when those children were also your co-workers. "I'm afraid this isn't a social call. I have a rather pressing question about your... area of expertise."

"Oh?" The leaders of Mossdeep City's Psychic Gym answered in unison. "Do tell! Do tell!"

Roxanne looked at her computer. On the screen, a robed girl accepted her badge and celebrated without a sound.

"What can you tell me about telepathy?"
…so this latest passage is, at worst, an early draft of something whose final form is canon, even if that final form never actually gets written.

a small bit I think everyone passed over.
If there were any words that would make people go over stuff, it's these right here.

"Oh!" Liza said. Roxanne heard a finger snap. "Like that girl Wattson was helping?"

"Oh yeah!" Tate exclaimed. "She's got that weird box in her throat, doesn't she? Maybe it's like that."
Unless there's a surprise crossover with Princess Principal, I can confidently say that I missed anything you could have implied.

So, Pokemon Legends Arceus has....well, see for yourself.

This has made me do some math.

Canoically, Kirlia!Astra is 5'0, whereas a normal Kirlia is only 2'7'', meaning a rough 1.9355x increase in height. Considering that and the height of an average gardevoir, I have deduced that if Astra continues her current trend size-wise, she will be 10'2'' as a Gardevoir.

The man in this image is six feet tall for reference.

I very much approve of this. This sort of thing is exactly the confidence boost that she needs to confront The Champion and claim the title. It would also let her wield elite trainers as hand-held weapins, which all Champions should be capable of.

May could also fulfil her love of standing on high, dangerous places by riding around on Astra's head. Falls from such heights are not kind, and hair makes for poor footing...
