Do we? I'm not sure we were told whether we have enough boots. Besides, even if we did, it was mostly done due to action efficiency, and just so we aren't locked out of our Martial Actions in case an issue cropped up.
We have 200 troops in noble hands (veterans). 1,750 V in our army + 10,000 untrained. Now we can add 787 more troops in that 10k for 10,787 untrained troops. 1 Turn to get some 787 untrained people is worthless when we already have 10k that are untrained. And I would've prefered if we took care of any spies in the Intrigue turn.

Isn't Potential Threats the action that took care of enemy spies? Going by the wording, Counter-Intelligence kept spies that wanted in, out, while Potential Threats focused on the spies already in our land?

Anyways, point taken on troop training.

It should be noted that the levy counter is a mixture of your personal levy and your feudal levy (Though you could also use your adviser to shorten recruitment times)

I'll write up the next turn soon.

Potential Threats is from inside the kingdoms counter intelligence is outside the kingdoms.

Second Turn
Aside from that encounter with the creepy old man, you think that you are starting to settle into your new position as High Queen, though you are somewhat nervous from the words that Mirel gave you.

Walking into your council chambers you saw that the council was already settled, your Court Presitess gave you a disappointed look as you entered that room and Alice was still looking apologetic. Despite what you tried to say to yourself, you can't shake the feeling that there is something wrong with the Kingdoms.

Treasury:
414 Ducats
- 200 From Gifts for Favour
- 200 from set aside funds for construction
- 14 Ducats from Profit
Profit of 90 Ducats every 3 Months
(Steward's Note: Recommend paying debt)
Military:
1,750 Levy (Experienced)
10,787 Levy (Green)
200 Retinue (Experienced)
No active recruitment in place.
(Marshal's note: Supplies needed)
Looking at the report, you sighed and then decided what exactly it is you should do with the council for the next three months.

Martial (Pick One)

[ ] Intervene in the Starford Civil War - Sending peasant levy to act as a mercenary band can be a profitable venture, provided they don't get slaughtered.
75% Chance of Success, Cost 25 Ducats, 500 Levy, 2 Turns

90% chance of Success, Cost 10 Ducats, 1 Turn.

[ ] Train your Levy - Send Mirel around on a tour of the Sister Kingdoms to better train the Levy in the art of Gaian Warfare
65% Chance of Success, Cost 7 Ducats, 2 Turns

[ ] Support Northern Sheyethen - Send Mirel and some levy over to Northern Sheyethen to support them in border raids and showcase what side you are on.
80% Chance of Success, Cost 30 Ducats, 500 Levy, 2 Turns

100% Chance of Success, Cost Mirel's Trust, 1 Turn

[ ] The Eastern Wall - Deolodre has stood for decades as the Eastern Wall of the Sister Kingdoms to the people of the Umbra Steppe, maybe send some over there to strengthen that flank,
95% Chance of Success, Cost 15 Ducats, 500 Levy, 1 Turn

[ ] Navy Production - The Navy has been a weakness of the Sister Kingdoms since its conception as we lack the Naval traditions of Lindisfarne or the Technological Superiority of Dritia, but let's try.
90% Chance of Success, Cost 20 Ducats, 2 Turns

[ ] Protect Trade - The Free Peoples and the Chancellor-Elect placed a lot of trust in us to allow for a trade deal, it would be in our best interest to protect trade to ensure it goes well.
80% Chance of Success, 100 Levy, 10 Ducats, 1 Turn

[ ] Here's an idea... - Maybe you have a better idea, write it in and we shall see how much it will cost.

Stewardship (Pick One)

[ ] The Dritia Trade Blockade - While they have not publicly shown why they blockaded us, they did send us a letter. The previous High Queen borrowed 300 Ducats from them, they want the money back.
90% Chance of Success, Cost 300 Ducats, 1 Turn

[ ] Cancel the Third Wall of Oakenfeild - Yes, the walls may look pretty and they may be tall, but we need the money right about now so...
100% Chance of Success, Cost 1 Turn.

[ ] Stop Construction of Oakenfeild - Sure the second walls are not entirely done but it's good enough for now, we need the money sharpish.
100% Chance of Success, Cost 1 Turn.

[ ] Finance Southern Sheyethen - Southern Sheyethen may have good faith and zealousness, but they are pathetically underfunded, though civil wars do tend to do that.
70% Chance of Success, Cost 30 Ducats, 2 Turns.

[ ] Finance Northern Sheyethen - Northern Sheyethen may have a mastery of warfare, but they are pathetically underfunded, though civil wars do tend to do that.
70% Chance of Success, Cost 30 Ducats, 2 Turns.

75% Chance of Success, Cost 20 Ducats, 2 Turns.

[ ] Maybe the High Queen has a mind for business - We know that it may be hard to decide on what to do, but maybe you have an idea?

Diplomacy (Pick One)

35% Chance of Success, Cost 20 Ducats, 2 Turns.

[ ] Calm Sheyethen Tensions - It's Naive to think that the presence of a High Queen could reunite these squabbling people, but maybe you could calm the tensions so that all-out war won't happen?
75% Chance of Success, Cost 20 Ducats, 2 Turns.

[ ] Guarantee Northern Sheyethen - While Northern Sheyethen may not be a part of the Sister Kingdoms, a war is not in your best interests, your sabre rattling might be what is needed to stop a war here.
87% Chance of Success, Cost 20 Ducats, 1 Turn.

[ ] Guarantee Southern Sheyethen - While Southern Sheyethen is one of the most irritating parts of the Sister Kingdoms, it is best to make sure that any Sheyethen Civil War is won quickly and by a friendly government, let's make sure that they are friendly.
87% Chance of Success, Cost 20 Ducats, 1 Turn.

[ ] Try to Negotiate something with Dritia - The Dritia Republic might not be as uncompromising as they as normally known for. It just requires some careful negotiation
56% Chance of Success, Cost 40 Ducats, 2 Turns.

[ ] Reassure the Darian Republic - The Daraian Republic is our maritime trade partner, the Trade Blockade we are under is as threatening to them as it is to us. We should make sure we reassure them that we have the situation under control.
76% Chance of Success, Cost 20 Ducats, 100 Levy, 2 Turns

[ ] Find New Chancellor - Maybe finally a new Chancellor might be a good idea in order to secure some better luck with diplomacy
100% Chance of Success, Cost 1 Turn.

[ ] Integrate Deolodre - Deolodre, often referred to as the East Wall, is one of the most important buffer states of the Sister Kingdoms, however, given the mental health of the Queen, it might be time to end its independence.

[ ] Integrate Cappadocia - Cappaodica is a duchy that borders Starford, as our Western Bastion of Gaianism, than we should make it an official part of the Sister Kingdoms, rather than our proxy.
85% Chance of Success, Cost 40 Ducats, 2 Turns

Learning (Pick One)

65% Chance of Success, Cost 25 Ducats, 1 Turn, Going against everything you stand for.

[ ] Find new Court Priestess - Though you are loathe to say it, you might actually need a court priestess, well, it is probably for the best that you get one who is incorruptible.
75% Chance of Success, Cost 2 Ducats, 1 Turn.

[ ] Investigate: Followers of the Nameless One - The Followers of the Nameless One is a church that is almost unique to the area surrounding Starford, though as it stands, it remains an enigma to the Sister Kingdoms, maybe we should investigate.
76% Chance of Success, Cost 7 Ducats, 1 Turn

[ ] Investigate: Cult of the Storyteller - A new cult which you've heard about and which seems to be all over the continent according to some reports, maybe you should try to know what they believe in.

75% Chance of Success, Cost 1 Turn.

80% Chance of Success, Cost 10 Ducats, 1 Turn.

60% Chance of Success, Cost 10 Ducats, 50 Levy, 2 Turn.

[ ] Replace Spymaster - Your spymaster kind of likes you so it would be a good idea to keep them on your side, but you're the High Queen, why not, what is the worst that can happen? Don't answer that.
100% Chance of Success, Cost 1 Turn.

[ ] Scope out potential threats - Potential Threats to your reign should always be identified and removed when necessary, your spymaster could help identify some of these parties.
76% Chance of Success, Cost 5 Ducats, 1 Turn.

[ ] The Southern Continent - Perhaps a small excursion to the Southern Continent might be interesting as it would allow for some opportunities for expansion
75% Chance of Success, Cost 20 Ducats, 100 Levy, 2 Turns.

[ ] The Sparrow Knights - A group of career Mercenaries who appeared mysteriously a few years ago, maybe investigating them might shine a light on their situation.
75% Chance of Success, Cost 20 Ducats, 2 Turns.

[ ] Whispers behind the Golden Throne - You know that not all options can be neatly summed up, perhaps with your permission, you might be able to figure out what to do.

Advisor (Pick One)

100% Chance of Success, 1 Turn.

[ ] Assist the Court Priestess - The Good Duke is not all that stoked about religion, though to be honest, not that many in the Kingdoms are. He could probably assist the Priestess in the matters of the soul.
100% Chance of Success, 1 Turn.

[ ] Assist the Chancellor - Edward is at heart, a diplomat, how'd you think he earned his title and Sophia's heart, he should probably be able to assist with diplomatic matters.
100% Chance of Success, 1 Turn.

[ ] Assist the Spymistress - While Edward was tutored in matters of diplomacy, he is a dab hand at intrigue and protected Sophia's reign for a decade, maybe he could show Alice how spying is done.
100% Chance of Success, 1 Turn.

[ ] Independent Asset - Have your advisor accomplish another task for the Sister Kingdoms, after all, it's what they are there for.
-[ ] [INSERT OPTION HERE]

Personal Actions (Pick Three)

75% Chance of Success, Cost 20 Ducats, 1 Turn, Your Self-Value

[ ] Teach Me: Learning - Religion and Books never seemed to be that good a thing to you. Though you never thought that you would be ruling the Sister Kingdoms, maybe you would need to hire a tutor.

Remember, Plan Format. EDIT: What in the blue hell is formatting.

[X] Plan Take care

Martial:
[X] Train your Levy
This is probably the best right now. We can't afford to protect the Trade so it's better to train these minions into competence.

Stewardship:
[X] The Dritia Trade Blockade
We need to take care of this dept before it becomes too late and they decide to fuck us over.

Diplomacy:
[X] Integrate Cappadocia
This looks like the safest thing we can do. And there is no point in Reassure the Darian because we will pay our dept this turn.

Learning:
[X] Improve Relations with the Papacy
Let's improve the relations and then choose a uncorrupt Priestess , or if you guys prefer we can just choose one.

Intrigue:
[X] Scope out potential threats
We need this , have to take care of the people that hate us. Before anything good can be taken unfortunately.

Advisor:
[X] Assist the Spymistress
Even through I would prefer if he is doing Diplomacy or Martial , we need to succeed the Intrigue.

Personal Actions:
[X] Get to know: Spymaster
[X] Get to know: Chancellor
[X] Teach Me: Diplomacy
It's good if we get to know all of them at least a bit. And let us learn to talk to people without causing offence.

Next turn we won't have much money so we'll have to pace ourselves.

P.S. Fixed it removed the Advisor , we can take it next turn.

I like this plan, one small problem, I accidentally fucked up the formatting (I don't know how, it was alright when I posted) so Teach Me is not a separate category

We're severely lacking in funds, and losing our only Trade Partner would be disastrous. We have 1,750 Experienced Levy, 100 of them would be fit for the job. We can train next turn since that matter isn't as urgent as oir Trade problem.

If we want to pay our debts, we will need to nourish our trade partners.

As for the Advisors, the Chancellor isn't as important as the previous Queen's consort.

If so it would be:

Not assist the Spymistress

What 2nd Intrigue Action? The Assis the Spymistress is an Advisor action, not Intrigue. Am I misunderstanding something? I'm genuinely confused now.

Let me format my plan better, maybe that'll help.

In The Land of Stars and Fire Part 2
Your name is Scarlet Ashbridge and you are not sure about this Civil War, it made sense at the time, the Council had too much power and they were responsible for the shameful defeat in both Twenty-fifth Cappadocian War for Independence and the Third Starford - Tribal Confederation War.

It made sense, the council was the infected limb of the country and as such, it had to be removed.

Maybe it was the impassioned rhetoric of King Ross, who called for blood in vengeance for the shame that was the Regency. Maybe it was a genuine desire for vengeance, it might have been ideology or it was probably madness justified by ideology.

Whatever it was, it was tearing your country apart and you were sick to your stomach that you were instrumental in this civil war breaking out. Not that it mattered now, it's too late for it to matter now.

It was rather amusing, in a way, King Ross wanted to rebuild the country, but he was doing so by tearing it apart, would it really be a victory if there was nothing left to rule over, nothing to celebrate, the council would undoubtedly be hanged, if they survived the war that is but by now most were dead and buried, much like the hope of the people.

King Ross, on the other hand, remained a beacon of hope, despite the circumstances, the people rallied behind him, he always was a charismatic leader, even from a young age.

An example floats to your mind when you were a child, Ross was a prince at the time, he was always diligent in his studies, making sure that he excelled in lessons of war and rhetoric and when he wasn't learning to command armies, he studied swordsmanship and when he wasn't learning rhetoric, he studied religion, making good use of the Scripture in his impassioned speeches.

On the other hand, you were, and still are, lazy. Barely focusing on your lessons, even then you still excelled in them, your interest was of that of intrigue and diplomacy, enough etiquette in order to appear demure, enough knowledge to intimidate and charm people to your advantage.

Shaking your head to rid yourself of the memories, you looked down and realised that there was more work to be done.

Your hands subconsciously reach down to the brass symbol of the Nameless One around your neck, the ornament didn't mean much to you these days, the Nameless One did not care how many of his believers slew each other, the war continued.

You briefly wondered how you would be remembered by the history books, would you and your brother be remembered as overly ambitious fools who drove your country into civil war, or would you two be remembered as the siblings who restored Starford to its former glory, it didn't really matter at this point.

Second Turn Results
Martial

Protect Trade - The Free Peoples and the Chancellor-Elect placed a lot of trust in us to allow for a trade deal, it would be in our best interest to protect trade to ensure it goes well.
Needed 20, Rolled 78

The Levy that was tasked with protecting trade did an admirable job despite their lack of skills. It turns out that the rigours of moving with the trade caravan and fending off bandits were well suited for training them.

As a result, they are now more competent.

Result: Trade Protected, 100 Levy(Experienced)

Stewardship

The Dritia Trade Blockade - While they have not publicly shown why they blockaded us, they did send us a letter. The previous High Queen borrowed 300 Ducats from them, they want the money back.
Needed 10 Rolled 81

The Steward's delegation to the Dritia Republic proved to be successful as they were able to deliver the payment for the debt successfully to the Doge's palace. They even managed to get out of the Republic without too much harassment.

Results: Dritia Trade Blockade Stoped, Profits increase by 100 Ducats. Dritia annoyed by the time it took for the debt to be paid.

Diplomacy

Integrate Cappadocia - Cappaodica is a duchy that borders Starford, as our Western Bastion of Gaianism, than we should make it an official part of the Sister Kingdoms, rather than our proxy.
Needed 15 Rolled 86

The process of integrating any land into the Sister Kingdoms is a laborious process and a long one as well, however, the process of integrating Cappadocia seems to be going well.

It's almost amusing how the people who fought so viciously for their freedom in the past, are now ready to give up that freedom for you.

Results: The Integration is going well, but is not over yet.

Learning

Investigate: Followers of the Nameless One - The Followers of the Nameless One is a church that is almost unique to the area surrounding Starford, though as it stands, it remains an enigma to the Sister Kingdoms, maybe we should investigate.
Needed 24 Rolled 51

Your Court Presitess decided to pester Viscountess Alice about the religion, causing great distraction to Alice who said that "I left Starford when I was like six or seven years old."

Eventually, she relented and went for investigating the bastions of that religion in the Free Peoples.

The Followers of the Nameless One is a militaristic religion, most notable for the fact that it believes that all souls are one and as such, there should be no limitation as to how many should be united under one roof.

According to the history books, this religion rose up as an answer to Gaianism and was a unifying factor in the Ashbridge Alliance and later the Kingdom of Starford.

Results: Understanding of the Followers of the Nameless Ones, will be better at conversion.

Intrigue

Scope out potential threats - Potential Threats to your reign should always be identified and removed when necessary, your spymaster could help identify some of these parties.
Needed 24 Rolled 12

Due to the pestering of the Court Priestess, several important clues to potential plots and threats slipped through Alice's net.

Results: Alice is apoplectic, Plans continue, something really isn't right. What are we paying those spies for?

Advisor

Assist the Spymistress - While Edward was tutored in matters of diplomacy, he is a dab hand at intrigue and protected Sophia's reign for a decade, maybe he could show Alice how spying is done.
Needed 24 Rolled 49

Thankfully, Edward is a better hand at intrigue and more importantly, doesn't have the distraction that is known as Nalia of House Zaealix, his personal spy network picked up on several clues that slipped through Alice's net, as a result, several plots were exposed and many of them were stopped.

Results: You can sit on your throne comfortably, plots have been discovered and stopped. You have new people in your jail.

Personal Actions:

Read the High Queen's Notes - High Queen Sophia left her notes behind for you to read, while you have read some of it, you still do have a lot to read, these are the notes of someone who reigned for over forty years.
Needed 5 Rolled 97

The High Queen's notes proved to be a treasure trove of knowledge regarding both the Sheyethen Civil War and problems between the two fledgeling nations as well as matters such as the Mysterious Sparrow Knights and the reason for her method fo rule.

Continued in Interlude: Master and Commander

QM NOTE: What the hell is up with this dice roller? I mentioned that a low roll would be amusing on the intrigue roll and I rolled low and then it rolled hella high on actions with little chance of failure.

We almost got fucked by traitors , good thing the Advisor was there. Well it wasn't my plan but the core things that I wanted were there so good job.

Our Spymistress is either useless and should be replaced, or unlucky and should be replaced.

Intrigue is our highest stat for goodness sake! Why is this happening? Ah well, I can't be bothered to take the actions to replace her. Here's hoping she redeems herself next turn.

Master and Commander
You always felt something interesting when you read the High Queen's Notes, it was probably because of the fact that the High Queen left her notes to her successor which meant that there would be, in theory, a smooth succession between her reign and your's, it was something that made you think that even in her winter years, she was still smart enough to know that a newly crowned High Queen would have a hard time.

Anyway, in terms of what you found, there was an interesting passage on the Kingdom of Sheyethen and, more importantly, their civil war, it states
The Long-Term Cause of the Civil War was a feeling of alienation between the richer nobility of the Northern Half of the Kingdom and the pious Southern Half, both sides struggled to come to terms with the other which lead to the Southern portions of the Kingdom to request greater autonomy from the King of Sheyethen, King Peter the Wise, the man did grant them this autonomy on one condition, that a viceroy was to be placed in the Southern Duke's Court in order to make sure that nothing that would be deemed traitorous would take place.

In terms of the Short-Term Causes, there are several, the most prominent being the reforms of King Peter, the man was a believer in full gender equality and pushed through many reforms to make this true, however, in the Southern Half of the Kingdom, these reforms were seen as heretical and they heightened tensions between the two groups, furthermore, evidence does suggest that the reforms were never even enacted in the southern parts of the realm.

The incident that led to the outbreak of the war is an odd one, it is alleged that a minor northern noble and a southern priestess were meeting up at a manor one night and got into a religious debate, this debate devolved into fighting, neither side is sure which one started it, but the Southerners saw the 'assault on a priestess' as the final straw and declared the King to be forsaken by the Goddess, this was simultaneously followed by uprisings across the Southern Half of the Kingdom, however, it should be noted that the rebels were expecting more support based on the fact that oe of the rebel leaders, (then) Countess Constance remarked that she thought there would be more in her host.
it was an interesting read, there was also a passage on the Current Divisions, written in much more refined handwriting, saying:
The reason for the current divisions are as follows:

  • Firstly, despite the fact that the war ended two decades ago, both sides continue to conduct border raids on the other, this keeps the hostilities fresh in the minds of the people and the soldiery.

  • Secondly, both sides recognise themselves as the true successor to the Kingdom, with the Southern Half proclaiming that they are the faithful and they saved the Kingdom from a heretical ruler. While the Northern Half proclaims that their King was martyred for his reforms and that the actions of Zealots should never go unpunished.

  • Thirdly, The leaders of both sides, Queen Susan of the North was the wife of the late King Peter and thus has a reason for her bitter hatred, the only problem being that this hatred trickles down into the nobility, further fuelling the divisions, her daughter might very well be just another Susan for the opinions the girl holds. While the Queen of the South, Constance, feels that the uprising did not go far enough and that the Northerner's Souls are still in need of 'saving', her son is similar to her in that regard."
Finally, on the subject of the Sheyethen Question, it ends with a single footnote which says:
"Royal Wedding between the two sides of the Kingdoms might be enough to heal the fracture."

Of course, there is then a set of notes on the group that is known as either the "Sparrow Knights" or the "Band of the Sparrow" a mercenary company that appeared seemingly out of nowhere, its leader, Dame Rose the Lionheart is apparently someone who never existed before as there are no records which link to any such person existing.
The notes state that:
The Band of the Sparrow is an odd bunch, from what reports have been gathered, they only recruit full-time mercenaries and not soldiers on initiation, this suggests that Dame Rose wants a fully professional and experienced force rather than young girls who have no real experience in the field.
Based off reports, their number include roughly one hundred Deolodrian Lancers, fifty Steppe Horse Archers and, oddly enough, fifty Northern Sheyethen Cavalary as well, the rest of their force is made up of cavalry from the other Sister Kingdoms, bringing their number up to roughly five hundred.
What followed is the High Queen's theory on the subject of the group's leader and who she really is.
The explanation for who Dame Rose is can be easily seen in the presence of the Deolodre Lancers, as one hundred of their number, followed Princess Rosemunda of House Bronzewing out of Deolorde whenever she was banished from the Kingdom, however there is at least a month worth of time between her leaving and the band appearing in the Sister Kingdoms. Though one thing which is unaccounted for is the fact that it seems likely that based on the fact that she left the Kingdom from the East and appeared in Northern Sheyethen of all places, it is likely that she went through the Dead Lands.

This deserves further inquiry, such a shame that I can't do so.

You looked at the notes and remembered for yourself, Princess Rosemunda was the Heir to the throne of Deolodre and the only child of the Queen Rose the Mad, apparently she was banished after the Queen found out she was cursed, though you were not sure what exactly the curse was, though it seemed that Rosemunda was bitter as she raised one hundred of the household troops and left with them.
You weren't an expert, but you had some suspicion that Dame Rose was Princess Rosemunda.

When you met with Duke Edward, you found him in the training yard, he was teaching some of the guards the fine art of swordsmanship. Out of all the weapons you fought the good Duke would fight with, it seemed that he fought with a lance, you would admit, that was not part of the image that you had of the man, you would have thought that his weapon of choice would be a rapier or a longsword, but nope he was currently duelling with the blonde guard with a rapier and doing quite a good job.

The blonde had the advantage of youthful speed and energy as well as having an advantage when she got in close, but there was the problem: Duke Edward wasn't letting her get in close. His advantages were the fact that he was experienced with this lance and was swinging it in what would be very lethal attacks if he was fighting with a real spear and if the opponent was just a bit slower on their feet. Though, unlike his daughter, he decided that the best attire for training was simply a pair of black boots, black breeches and a black tunic, opting to train with the prospect of maximum mobility in mind. Though you noticed that he was slowing down faster than the guard.

The Blonde saw a chance and quickly closed the distance, likely looking to put her practice rapier against the duke's throat, however, she was stopped by a practice lance to her midsection. "Yield," Edward said, his voice and face as hard as steel, the blonde dropped her weapon and his face softened somewhat from hardened warrior to caring grandfather, "Alicia, it's wonderful to see that you're improving, just make sure that you are always on your guard."

The Blonde, apparently named Alica, looked ridiculously happy at the praise she was given and barely squeaked out a "thank you, milord," before she took her leave. she didn't even notice you as she left

Edward was running through several lance drills though you noticed that he was running out of breath quickly, another thing that you noticed was that one of his hands seemed to be made out of iron. How did he lose it, war or disease?

"Your Majesty," He grunted out in a greeting, barely looking at you, he was running himself ragged, though you would be lying if you didn't say that he was carrying himself with an almost admirable dedication.

"I would like to talk to you, sir." You said rank be damned you found the man genuinely impressive, especially given High Queen Sohpia's praise. He stopped training and ran his flesh hand through his hair as he leaned on his lance.

"So what would you like to talk about?" He asked, his voice was casual and you could finally see the number of wrinkles that was on his face.

"I just wanted to talk about yourself." You answered honestly, he went over to one of the benches over at the training yard.

"Take a seat, your majesty, it's going to take a while." You dutifully took a seat next to him. "Where to begin, I'm the Count of ... several counties, I fought in the Sheyethen Civil War on the side of the Northerners while I was still a Baron. Due to the fact that the High Queen's Notes have been in the study for a few months, you likely know that I was also High Queen Sophia's lover." You got bombarded by several rapid-fire facts about his life, including the first duchy that he was offered, why he fought with a lance, though one thing that was left out was the details of his affair with Sophia and details about the Sheyethen Civil War, both were likely sore spots.

However, before any more facts could be fired at you, a hooded individual handed him a letter, something which caused him to jump up and say "I'm terribly sorry, your Majesty but duty calls. It was wonderful talking to you." that was some 'conversation' he filled most of the time himself, though you did ask him about his life so it would be likely that something like that would happen.

When you eventually found your spymistress, it was on a balcony, it was overlooking parts of the forest outside the citadel. Alice was lying on the stone railing mumbling to herself "Why the hell haven't we been able to find some information on her? She is literally one of the most likely to have a plot against her Majesty, but I can't seem to have a solid evidence on her." She was fiddling with a brass ornament that you didn't recognise the design of, it looked like a downward pointing sword surrounded by flames. Though the ornament looked heavily weathered with there being plenty of scratches on the object.

"Viscountess?" You asked, causing her to sit up on the ledge. surprisingly calm despite the fact that if she fell she would, without a doubt be dead. "I want to talk to you."

"Of course your Majesty." She said, getting off the railing and sitting on one of the two chairs that are on the balcony. "What is it you want to talk about?"

"You." you say eloquently "I really want to know what it's like growing up in Starford." Her face lights up in understanding

"At least you aren't assuming that I know all about the religion there," She flipped the ornament in the air before catching it absent-mindedly "I was born in Eldacar's Rest," She paused before realising something "Right forgot, it's known as Prophetess' Rock around these parts." Ah yes that place, it was apparently the final resting place for one of Prophetess' Joan's closest advisors. "My father was a Starford residing Gaian, a member of the guard there back when Gaians were still allowed to serve the crown, my mother was apparently a Witch who followed the Nameless One."

"Were they in love?" You askedwhile you didn't like to admit it, you were something of a romantic.

"They were, very much so as well, despite everything they managed to stay together despite the fact that most, if not all, of the City, would look down on such a relationship." She looked up as if remembering something "After the Twenty-fifth Cappadocian War for Independence, things got worse for Gaians, the Regent passed a reform that stopped them from serving the Crown, worse was that people often assailed father in the street. We moved to the newly independent Cappadocia, from what I heard, it was supposed to be a paradise, a place where Starford born Gaians could bask in their religious freedom and feel safe in the land that they had won with the blessing of the Goddess." She scoffed at that, "It was just about as bad as Starford was, only the leader was Duchess Joan the Liberator, she a set of laws that forbade heathens in her land. My mother tried to hide her religion and even converted to Gaianism, though from what I remember of her, she died when someone found out that she was a witch and organised a lynch mob. Father was despondent after that and I, being about eight at the time, had to feed both myself and him. He didn't make it past the first two years and I found myself hitching onto a band of travellers." She shrugged slightly thinking "my quick fingers and criminal mind served the caravan well, one thing led to another and I eventually ended up on the High Queen's council." She's leaving out details

"How did you actually end up on the council?" You asked, wanting to know.

"That's a story for another time." She said, looking somewhat embarrassed. "If you don't mind me, your majesty, I must beg my leave, I need to ponder a few things."

What a strange girl. She's hiding something

We have no luck with the Intrigue turns. She isn't useless.

I say we should support the North Side this turn or the next one , they look like the better side and it will be shity if the one we don't like wins.
