Oh that

You flatly don't pay upkeep on your knights or priests. They're sustained by their own funds, background income and the favour of the gods/donations from pious citizens.

I feel like dropping the overwhelming power meme here!

Thank you for the information and while I have you, are we getting or do we have a discord, it would be quite convenient for some ooc/ communication and planning between players.

Basically @Alectai I think both @Zedalb and myself would be happy to work with you OOC on making this work. Since you know, fuck the Sigmarite Scum, but also it doesnt feel right to have the Lord of Middeland, and the Al-Ulfric without also having a Grand Master of the White Wolves, arguably the most influential knightly order in the Empire.

Also, I think Deadly snark is getting at, we are both awesome people, and think you're pretty cool.
We are sorry timing worked out so poorly for you, but we would be open to helping you keep the concept (to some extent) and gaming with you.

Boosted the income of the major cults a bit, since they were a bit poorer than I would have liked. All changes are in the version of the player list on the front page, which is where all future updates regarding influence and capital will go as well.

And yes the Cult of Sigmar is literally an economic peer to several Elector States. Its all those tithes, really.

Working on a discord now, and then I'll get the IC thread up.

Whats a good knightly order to choose in this era?
I guess either Blazing Sun (Followers of a foreign war goddess who are a bit strange, but good in a fight), Knights of Morr (Mute Vampire Hunters in Black Plate), Knights of the White Wolf (Ulrican Knights who wolf wolf wolf) , Order of the Hammer of Sigmar (Lots of men on horseback with Hammers) and Order of the Sacred Scythe (Non-mute Vampire Hunters who instead wear Skull-Masks and help patrol roads)

Adolf von Jager
Grand Master of the Knights of the White Wolf

Adolf Jager was not many people's first choice for the grandmaster of one of the Empire's most famed knightly orders. An insightful young man in his youth--a second son of the Jager Dynasty of powerful barons who found himself stifled by the conservatism of his peers in the Temple of Middenhei --he set himself to journeying as a Knight-Errant of the Cult, visiting the holy sites of the Old World and bringing the word and teachings of the Wolf God with him while standing as a sentinel against the creatures of the Old Night. He learned much in that time--of the many sects and interpretations of Ulric's will--of the might and reliability of the other righteous gods of the Old World--and most importantly, that the Cult of Ulric was steadily dying out--and it was almost entirely their own fault.

Oh, he certainly understood the logic involved in every step--the rise of the Cult of Sigmar in times long past was a home grown competitor--perhaps not intentionally, but intention has always been a distant second to the ultimate results. It taught many of the same lessons--but espoused taking full advantage of the might of civilization to endure the consequences and pains to the people of the world--it was a winning strategy, he could not deny this. But many things could be called winning strategies in this world--and the critical thing is that such civilization could not extend to all the peoples of the world.

How could it? Few places were that perfect combination of approachable and defensible to justify a massive population--and all the rest of the peoples of the world could only fear what lay in the night and hope that reinforcements could reach them in time.

There would always be a place for the Cult of Ulric--so why was the political leadership wasting their time trying to compete with the Cult of Sigmar in the area that the latter was best at? What was the Vow of Celibacy supposed to accomplish? Why was the Cult focused entirely on the North at the expense of the rest of mankind? While he had some influence on the deployment of the White Wolves as he rose up in the ranks, it would be folly to expect them to be everywhere at once.

Ulric's followers were the guardians on the frontier--it was a lifestyle that was necessary to beat back the night and reclaim the forests of the Old World from the wicked creatures that lay within them--and Jager's strength in battle, his heroism, and his wisdom were sufficient to see him ultimately raised up as the Grand Master of his order--a place of some influence.

But not quite enough, not yet--this was still a time of great potential to reform the Cult of Ulric to something that could endure the march of years without abandoning its noble spirit. He simply needed to ensure that the opportunity was ultimately seized.

@Maugan Ra can i play the oGrand Order of the Reiksguard?
Unfortunately the Rieksguard don't show up for another 300 odd years, assuming a few changes to canon. Otherwise presumably the Rieksmarshal would be a viable option as the head of the most disciplined mortal army in the world.

Other options are presumably lower tier orders and cults, like Taal.

Though if @Maugan Ra wants extra options, i'm fine with someone taking up head of the Order of the Silver Hammer (Witch Hunter Templars)

1. The high and Chivialric order of Deserved Rest, or more commonly know, the Knights of the Raven.

Hail Morr, the god of the dead.

The Shepard and guardian.

Leading the dead to their rightful rest.

Herman has long since served the cult of Morr, brought into it at a young age after a terrible nightmare involving the god of the dead, and like all who have joined the cult of Mor he had fled to the nearest garden of Mor to seek acceptance into the cult, and like all who come to Mor he was accepted. He tended to the gardens of Morr like most of those accepted, and if Manfred von carsteins ambitions had not made themselves known to the rest of the Empire Heinrich would have stayed a simple servant.

Seeing the unquiet dead marching upon the living Herman asked to be sent against them, to help usher them back into their deserved rest. His request was granted, and he fought with distinction in the war, and once it was over he joined the Knights of the Raven in order to watch over the lands of the unquiet dead, and better fulfill his calling with the god of the dead.

Decade have past and Herman has slowly risen through the ranks of the Raven Knights, and recently become the Grandmaster of the order after its last one, Heinrich, died peacefully in his sleep and left to join Morr in his garden. It was of great shock to him, for while he may be the most experienced Knight in the order, he knows little of politics, and such is a necessity if one is to deal with those outside of the cult. Herman now leads the Knights of the Raven in Stirland, seeking to guard the lands of the living and give the dead the rest they deserve.

Herman himself is a grim and duty bound man, his compassion seems reserved for the restless dead, those who through some means have not been able to pass onto Morrs garden and are stuck on this mortal plain. The living he treats less cordially, as their well being is of less concern to him then the unquiet dead. Though with his recent thrust into the position of Grandmaster it seems that must change, for before he was nought but another face among the Knights of the Raven, with the ability to avoid and ignore non-Morrites as he wished. But as the Grandmaster he is now the face of the order, he is the one people must talk too if they wish his orders help.

It seems if he wish's to fulfill his duty in guarding against the unquiet dead of Slyvania, Herman must become something approaching a politician.

Morr take me now.
Tldr: Anitsocial old warrior gets put in charge of the order due to being the most experienced one they have, hes not particularity happy with this

I am going to throw funding and support your way to aid in protecting against the undead.

Ah~, I wasn't picked too bad but expected since the competition was heavy. @Maugan Ra
As we've talked about yesterday, the option of secondary subordinate PCs is there or do you prefer not to?
EDIT: Nvm, I am merely blind to not have noticed.

You'd need to sell me on your character concept first.

Erina Sachs' current position as the Regent of Nuln could be charitably described as 'precarious'. The former Court Engineer rose to her current position after reporting suspicious figures wandering the palace grounds to the local chapter of Witch Hunters. Instead of being brushed off as expected, the Witch Hunters launched an investigation, and rapidly uncovered evidence that Steward Konrad von Blutheim, who managed the city in the name of the Elector Count, was the head of a cult dedicated to the Blood God, one which had infected much of Nuln's upper classes.

Before Erina could come to grasp with the revelation, the Steward had slain three Witch Hunters before being thrown from the highest tower in the city, his direct family and much of the court were burnt alive for their heretical practices, and Erina was installed as his replacement. The Witch Hunters needed someone to legitimize their purge of the city, and with the von Blutheim family either dead or on the run, pushed for Erina to fill the position as a theoretically-temporary appointment. Count von Swarzburg saw an opportunity to appease the Sigmarite Church by accepting the suggestion, and so Erina found herself ruling one of the largest cities in the Empire.

Now Erina is in a difficult position. The nobility are jockeying for the seat of Steward, seeking to unseat the "uppity peasant" who now rules, or to manipulate her into supporting their own agenda. If they were ever to unite against her, Erina's authority as Regent would most likely vanish. Thankfully, Erina's history in the Imperial Gunnery School has given her close ties with the province's military, and her prodigious intellect, although unsuited for politicking, has found itself well-applied to the task of managing Wissenland's largest city.

On a related note, here's a reworked version of my proposal that I'd appreciate you taking a look at. If I remember the lore correctly, it's pretty common for the Elector Counts to have subordinates dedicated to managing particularly large titles of theirs. Though I understand completely if you don't want the internal politics of your capital city being managed by someone else.
