Happy New Years! As your present, this year won't be as boring as last year because this year, we're finally going to war! Hurray for death and suffering!
While I won't build AA guns, having efficiency to use them after taking a province that has one is in important. Don't want our (will be) new weapons to be useless now, do we?
The upgrade ain't much, but every little bit counts. No way am I having the DD-kids to be as fragile as they are. No one is sinking on my watch.
Holy crap! More tech this month? What a way to start the year! My kindergarden teachers BBs becomes even more tanky than before! Sadly, this only applies to new ones. Other than their radar, you can't upgrade ships.
YES! GIVE ME ALL THE DAKKA!
More? What the hell? Are my scientist finally getting their shit together? It'll cost a few IC, but It's worth it.
More IC for upgrades, but who cares? Guess who's getting a raise this year?
And, that's it for this month. Here's the monthly review for January at the end of the month, totally not because I forgot to screenshot at the start of the month.
How's our spies doing?
FOR FUCKS SAKE COFFEES, STOP MAKING MORE IC! Are the ones you have not enough?!
A little bit more, then we can increase their threat.
Holy shit, that's a lot of convoys. Remind me to make more convoys, because you can never have to many convoys. Trust m-
Oh my, a Malaysian trying to free the colonially oppressed nations of Asia from the clutches of Western Imperialism by becoming the emperor of Japan? Oh my indeed.

Marines are experts at amphibious landings. For example, when invading directly to an island, like Singapore, I'm gonna need marines.
However, if it has at least two province around a port like, Shanghai, I can send in an invasion around the port instead of directly attacking it from sea. However, this only works if the port has either,
1.No garrison
2. The garrison there is negligable. (i.e. no organisation or a HQ unit.)
because troops in foreign land need supplies from the mainland, which is why ports are important so supplies can go through. Without supplies, it can't attack. So, by deploying troops around a port rather than directly attacking, the infantry have a limit in supplies. It is a risky move with another fight against time.
I can still attack directly with normal infantry but the debuffs is not worth it.
I have never played HOI before so most of the screencaps are gibberish but it looks interesting anyway. And I'm picking things up as we go, you play enough games they start to blur together and just make sense in general.
Also the irony of a Malaysian being the Japanese Emperor is too delicious for me to pass up, watched~
Damn, 4 months left till the Sino-Japan War. I don't think my brigades are going to make it in time for every division. Guess I have to make do with what I have.
After much debate, I decided to start the research on Rocket Tests. This is because I need to get the Theoretical Jet Engine for this,
That jet engine. Look at that beauty. 100 KPH! So fast~
As it turns out,the Ishikawajima Ne-130 Turbojet never existed in real life. The only one that RL Japan had was the Ishikawajima Ne-20 and the Ishikawajima Ne-20 Kai. So, mine is like, 6 times better?
How long does it take anyway?
Not long at all. It's already done in August.
Still no-WAIT A MINUTE!
Hired AF. GIVE ME ALL THE LEADERSHIP! I don't care if he's fascist, can you see his buffs? Totally worth it.
Someone told me that using Consumer Product Orientation during peace frees out a lot of IC from Consumer Goods. Is it true? We'll see later.
Less IC being wasted on supplies is what it means.
This would be useful, IF I'M BUILDING RADAR STATIONS! I would probably just use the one at Hawaii.
MOAR!!!
Shit, I forgot to check the production tab.
That's... a lot. If we put them side by side, it's easier to see.
If I decrease the supplies down to zero, the production side will have 100 IC available! Why did I not do this sooner? *facepalm*
March 1937
Wait a minute. What does a hangar has to do with visibility? I mean, how could a hangar make a CV less visible? I mean, how? Does that mean we can make an aircraft carrier that is literally a ghost? Enterprise has nothing on our CV.
To the front!
...wow, how many times had this happened? The same brigade, with the same place and the same comments. I need to get creative.
You know the drill.
You know, I think I know why war strategy games aren't mainstream. At least, this one isn't. Look at what I have been doing the whole LP. It's the same shit over and over again, with nothing interesting happening. Plus the amount of micromanagement isn't appealing to lots of people too. The lack of visual isn't helping.
...eh, whatever. Still like this game.
Rechecking the China Liberation Theater, I changed the commander to Kuribayashi because of his trait, Logistical Wizard. I don't want to allocate more IC to supplies if I can help it.
Finally! We can make Marines now! Let's make some no- *Sees number of Infantry Divisions lacking of Engineers and Artillery*
I think you may be over preparing for the Chinese invasion. They're kind of a push over if in AI's hands. If you have to go to war without all the divisions up to snuff you'd be fine.

Well, that has to do more with your curating and editing of the updates. The prewar build-up is dull, and usually one wants to get through it at speed 5 as fast as possible. The best HoI3 LPs I've read usually cover that entire time with a single post and jump right into the action.
That said, I am enjoying this, but more from the perspective of watching someone new to the game stumble through it than the actual update content so far.
I think I recall seeing it said somewhere that the only way to get the AI in HOI4, as it turns out, to go to war with the US as Japan, pretty much involved having to lower the AI's intellect considerably.
Then again, I recall hearing that apparently the Navy considered occupying, or at least landing a force on Australia. The Army blew a gasket, as they wanted China, not Australia, and they didn't even have the troops to spare.

Hell in HoI3 the do it even if they've taken all of mainland China and India, which is insane because the main reason for the war was for Japan to gain resources. Resources they would already have in such a world.
Less people dying! And that buffs for Mountain Infantry. But should we make Mountain Infantry? I mean, where do we really need to fight in the mountains? The Chinese are push-overs, SEA doesn't have mountains, Australia has no mountains, New Zealand is also a pushover, Burma is full of jungles, India is full of plains, the middle east is a fucking desert and we're not planning to invade mainland America. I guess it depends if we want to attack Russia. The Caucasus region is full of mountains, so that would be a great spot to have our mountain infantry to attack.
More engineers.
More.
I see nothing wrong with this. More money for us, and I'm not even fighting the Argentine.
Okay guys, here's a drinking game. Every time you see this or anything similar, you take a sip.
*sips* Yes, this counts.
May 1937
-No effect
Yes, it is the end of the airship era. And who thought using Hydrogen is a good idea? "Yeah, let's use a very explosive substance to power our flying machine full of civilians. What could possibly go wrong?"
1 CAS isn't going to help you from being invaded. But sure, more money for me.
Nothings happening, let's go check up on our spies.
*MAXIMUM INCREASE THREAT*
Oh my fucking god. USA, stahp. You're scaring me with your IC.
Oh, forgot to do this. *MAXIMUM TECH STEALING*
Nothings changed with the teas situation. Still trying to steal borrow their tech. Hopefully, it's something useful.
June 1937
*sips* Yes, this also counts. I'll put it at the Shikoku region to make another corps.
Better morale for my special forces. Though, that HQ attack buff isn't helpful at all. I mean, you can't attack with your HQ.
This one counts as two sips.
So, is this a submarine thing or everyone can have this buff? I mean, the buff implies that it's convoy raiding, not specifically submarine convoy raiding. So, I guess we can expect to convoy raid using a destroyer division with this extra boost to help?

Before we start the Sino-Japan War, let's see our forces first.
Air
This is our fighter, clearing the skies from any enemy who dares to challenge our superiority in the air. Behold, the Nakajima Ki-27!
The Nakajima Ki-27(九七式戦闘機 Kyūnana-shiki sentōki, or Type 97 Fighter?) was the main fighter aircraft used by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force up until 1940. Its Alliednickname was "Nate", although it was called "Abdul" in the "China Burma India" (CBI) theater by many post war sources; Allied Intelligence had reserved that name for the nonexistent Mitsubishi Navy Type 97 fighter, expected to be the successor to the Type 96 carrier-borne A5M with retractable landing gear and an enclosed cockpit.
Unfortunately, we only have a group of them ready for combat. Fortunately, fighting the Fortune Cookies would only need 1 group of fighters. I expect total dominance of the blue sky.
Next is our Tactical Bomber. The ones that will blot the skies with death, the Kawasaki Ki-48.
The Kawasaki Ki-48, 九九式双発軽爆撃機 'Sokei', Army Type 99 Twin-engined Light Bomber, was a Japanese twin-engine light bomber that was used during World War II. Its Allied reporting name was "Lily"
Even better, I got it in 1937 compared to the 1940 Alternate!Japan had. Unfortunately, it's shittier than the other. Alternate!Japan can have theirs reach 480 Km/h while mine can't even reach half of their speed. Oh well. Just deal with it, I guess.
Navy
First, we have the 1st battleship Division with their leader, Nagato!
You don't want to mess with her. She has bigger guns than you will ever have. Only she, her sister and 5 others have 16.1 inch guns...for now.
Having two Battleships with 16 inch is more than enough to fight anything the Chinese can throw at us. The two Big Seven and and old British-made Battle cruiser will be escorted by 6 KidsDestroyer Division. I guess that means, 24 Destroyers in total. More than enough esc-
No, Nagato! You can't have the Destroyers! Don't make me call the MPs!
