Halkegenia Online Thread 6 - //"Pixies!"\\

Shouryuu said:
I have a question. Is the nav pixie a real nav pixie or just a construct spawned by Bishop that looks and acts like a nav pixie?

Cos if it's a construct, then it is ultimately an extension of Bishop. If it is a real nav pixie, then Vear's Claims of mind control might have some merit, although since the pixie and bishop nod at each other, I think it's closer to influence rather than outright mind control.
There is nothing to suggest that the nav pixie was anything other than your garden-variety nav pixie. Dohohohoho.

Who was the person in the snip and why do people think they may have been mindcontroling the pixies?
The person in the snip was Bishop, who is secretly Cardinal's physical avatar. Pixies worship Cardinal who is basically the spirit of the World Tree in this case. People think mind control is going on because of nonsense. Ignore this.

Then what basis do we have to assume this "Bishop" character exists in the way you're saying at all?

Past threads with extensive discussion and confirmation. *sip*
This. Also, pattern recognition. Morgiana? Started as speculation and became canon. TRIST? Started in omakes, will eventually become canon (to a certain extent). The Shiori? Also omakes, have become canon.

TH himself have said there is no mindcontrol going on. People keep saying it anyway. Their lucky TH has the patience of a saint. I would have ended the story by now.
Not what he said. Not what I'm asking for citations on. Not the point.

Except Morgiana was a necessary character, TRIST is just basic logic, and The Shiori are interesting examinations of both modern gaming, and the problems represented by the Transition. Apples to oranges that comparison is.

How about we drop this line of discussion before the mods return, m'kay?

Edit:

It's almost the the readers (not saying "we" because I came too late for those discussion so cannot in all honesty include myself :p) were authors almost as much as TH is ;)
It's more like we're his crack dealers.

What do you call it then when people keep insisting that something is happening when the author has said it is not?
Depends on what exactly they were arguing. I spent my first 6 months criticizing ATC in his story thread about the confirmed path of the story was planning to take because the idea being presented was stupid. In this case Vaer's assertion is silly and kind of dumb because how he's presenting his criticism is something that would go against how Trigger writes.

To be exact the author said she didn't like messing with free will not that she didn't do it, which is why I asked for clarification.

If you want to talk about this take it to PMs because people like me who have dealt with his behavior for the past few months have nothing nice to say. That and it's entirely off topic.

As long as you have people making off-topic snipes at others for providing any kind of critique and labeling them as trolls and haters, the fact that you have nothing nice to say is pretty much your own damn fault.

And Kirito would be confused weither to be happy for Asuna or upset that he now gets less sandwiches.;)

There is a vast difference between honest critique, willful lying and outright demanding an author change what's written not out of any real issues with the story but merely to suit their tastes.

If you want to white knight the latter, you are going to find yourself very alone, and likely not responded to by anyone in the future.

Because if nothing else, it's thread clogging junk that doesn't contribute anything to the story or the readership. The opposite in fact.

Wow. I think I vaermina'd vaermina.

Its been about a week and a half and three to five posted quotes on him from me and hasn't responded.

Guess I hit a button, cause it seems like he has me on ignore.

Something I just found myself wondering about the last snip.

Why was Enya going to go back on combat duty if she was so unhappy with what she did during Dunkrik?

Previously: Mother's Day

I decided to time skip here, using a random Father's Day about a decade (give or take a few years) post-Transition. The reason is I couldn't think of how to differentiate the two stories if it was just Kirito, Asuna, and Yui again.

I also decided that Kirito would probably want to name his second daughter Sachi, even if he wasn't Mister Seahorse at the time.

----------------------------------------------------------

"Sachi-chan! Wake up, Sachi-chan."

Sachi mumbled incomprehensibly as she opened her eyes, looking up at a familiar face, framed by long black hair. "Onee-chan? It's too early..."

"Finally," Yui smiled at her little sister, then disappeared out of view, "We have to get moving. The markets are opening, if we don't get there soon we won't get a shot at the best ingredients!"

Sachi snapped up, "Oh right! Today!"

"Right, today," Yui stepped back to the bed, "I've got some clothes for you. Get dressed and let's get going."

Yui and Sachi shot down the stairs, "We're heading to the market, Mama!" Yui called back into the house as the two sisters put their shoes on at the door. Asuna peeked into the hallway just as they were out the door, "Have a good trip, you two!"

Asuna started to leave the hallway after they shut the door, then stopped, "Ahh... she forgot it again..."

Asuna waited, counting softly in her head. Three, two, one...

The door slammed open and Sachi stumbled through the entry, "I forgot it again!", hastily reaching for a small necklace hanging by the umbrellas. "Bye, Mama!"

A few short minutes later, Yui and Sachi floated down to the street just outside the Arrun market, Sachi hovering hesitantly just over the pavement. "Sachi-chan, you really need to get the hang of landing," Yui admonished, gently pulling her sister the last few centimeters to the ground.

Sachi mumbled her reply in embarrassment, prompting a grin from Yui, "You're going to have to soon, or you'll be the only one in school permanently stuck hovering over the floor..."

"Onee-chan!" Sachi protested, even as Yui guided her into the rapidly crowding market street.

The sisters slowly made their way down the street, stopping at several shops, picking up bread, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, sliced beef...

"Onee-chan?" Sachi asked, through a bag piled high with groceries, "I don't think they charged us the right amount for all this."

Over her own full bag, Yui nodded, "Un. They know us very well," Yui explained, "But... the secret is, Mama doesn't accept any payment for the bottles of soy sauce she makes."

"Ah," Sachi said, "So they give us stuff in return, instead?"

"That's right." Yui confirmed. "Got a good hold on that bag?"

"Un." Sachi replied, and with a short hop she was hovering centimeters over the street again, and sliding slowly down it on excess momentum. Yui flew a few meters into the air and turned to watch her sister. With a bit of concentration, Sachi extended her wings, and in a moment was just beside Yui and the two sisters continued home.

The day grew brighter, and in a what seemed like a short time Yui and Sachi were in the air again, a wicker basket carried between them. This time, headed for Papa.

It was unfortunate Papa had to work. Caramella-san seemed to have a perverse humour in troubling Papa, and had asked him to help out with this year's batch of mage trainees again. Luckily, the training grounds required neither secrecy nor great security. Still, a Sylph sentry hailed them as they approached the grounds.

"Yui-chan, Sachi-chan, good to see you today," the sentry greeted as the two floated down to the ground near him. "Still need the flight training charm, I see, Sachi-chan," he commented, his Sylph-granted sense for wind showing the subtle currents holding the younger girl stable.

Yui took the basket from her sister as they landed, allowing Sachi to slide along the ground on the anti-fall enchantments.

"Yeah. Though I think she'll manage to remember to grab it just in time to not need it any more." Yui walked quickly after Sachi, "Hold on Sachi-chan," but just as Yui reached her, Sachi pushed through the enchantment.

Despite stumbling from the effort, Sachi's face lit up with the accomplishment.

"That was pretty good!" Yui said, helping Sachi off the ground, "A little too much, though. Are you hurt?"

Sachi smiled, "No, I'm not hurt."

It didn't take long to find Papa. Yui hypothesized he could smell a sandwich from half a kilometer, and half again that if it was one of Mama's.

Sachi ran up to Kirito and hugged him tightly, Yui following shortly behind with the basket.

Looking up at her father, Sachi smiled, "Happy Father's Day, Papa."

Its a cultural basis you are dealing with Vaermina.

Remember that the duty to the group is more important than the duty to the individual in Japanese culture. Therefore while they may find distaste in performing the task, they will still perform it because it is what society norms demand of them.
And they don't even factor in the dangers that their reluctance or difficulties will cause others when doing the task?

Admittedly it is one of the downside of the culture and why many mental diseases don't get reported or treated. The individual will not mention the mental problems nor will others in his or her group will bring it up.
I suddenly feel nothing but pity for Yui given her massive future case load.
