Halkegenia Online Thread 22 - Kill Sheffield Vol. 2

She cast a large corrosive area of effect darkness spell into a town full of innocent sleeping people. :wtf:

And tried to ram a ship filled with explosives into a Port full of innocent people.
While the dock wasnt filled with Innocent people being a Military port this is true somewhat.

As for Corrosive you are the ONLY one who has put that forth and considering the fact a LOT of fighting including a running fight with DRAGONS was involved no one would be asleep and it wasnt even that large. it had a building's width which those are medieval building and this not that big normally.
EDIT
Halk V3 Chapter 11 Part 5
Sheffield saw the source of the screaming for herself in the weak light cast by an oil lantern, the thick black miasma crawling across the ground like ink dropped into water. Its outer reach came across the leg of a lamppost, and at once there was a faint groan and a creak as paint pealed and the iron beneath at once began to corrode.

It was the same everyplace that the substance touched. Glass clouded and cracked, stone bleached and crumbled like chalk, and wood smoldered and sparked as the smoke touched the walls of the buildings to either side of Saxich Street and began to collect and scale their sides, forming a barricade as thick impenetrable as stone to her front, and at her back . . .

I think what he is mistaken on is the FIRE that was set off because the houses corroded and collapsed in on themselves which crushed Lit Lamps.

Unless it was an incredibly shoddy neighborhood, I think it was actually pretty clear that the spell did something like "corrosion." Might have just been magically accelerated decay or some such thing, but it wasn't just a wall of shadows. Something to do with the fight brought down the house with the first lamp (<- why no mage-light ) Though I though it was rather clearly established that (as a bridge and in a primarily market district) there weren't actually tons of people living in that area. Destroyed a lot of people's livelihoods, but so would a mundane fire.

Yes it did my edit has the Direct quote in case you missed it.
I wasnt saying it was a wall of shadow I was saying it wasnt the Huge Area of effect Vaer has been claiming but rather just a building sized or as the quote shows a street sized area.
He was making it sound like it was a massive thing.
I wasnt at ALL saying it wasnt corrosive.

As for the Lamp not being Mage if you arent a mage you arent going to have one simple as that.

The thing is this is 16-17th century.

Which means families and sometimes workers often lived above their shops.

Take all the time you need, TH. I can understand you wanting to make progress, but you don't want to stress yourself out, either. Remember, all this work is supposed to for fun! ;):p

True.

As a more immediate mental exercise, what the hell would the Lake Spirit think of Solomon?

Lake Spirit: Those little pipsqueaks weren't kidding when they said you looked handsome.
Solomon: Why thank you, say you care to join me for a nice river walk?
Lake Spirit: For an elemental like you? Anything.
Everybody else: o_O

A group of Spriggans is already a Murder. Don't remember the rest...
Original posting here.

Pod of Undine
(in reference of a 'pod of dolphins', and is near universally approved of by the Undines)

Murder of Spriggans
(obvious crow reference is obvious, was overwhelmingly supported by Morgiana, even if it doesn't really suit them thematically)

Flight of Slyphs
('natch, was something of a one-over by Mortimer to Sakuya who was holding out for 'drift' (as in 'drift of swans') due to liking the term more then the generic 'flight'. She got overruled.)

Lyre of Puca
(in, partial, reference to the plural form of lyrebirds. Unanimously voted in by the Puca)

Cloud of Imps
(in reference to a 'cloud of bats', and while humorously put forward, they've gleefully taken to it, especially in sports & airborne military tactics)

Business of Gnomes
(as in a reference to a 'business of ferrets', business dealings, and how they're very comfortable below ground)

Pounce of Cait Sith/Destruction of Cait Sith
(technically 'pounce', in reference to a 'pounce of cats', although Dragoon Knights almost without exception prefer the term used for wild cats. 'Streak' is also popular, referencing a 'Streak of Tigers')

Band of Salamanders
(Morgiana, with very vocal support from Alicia Rue & Sakuya - who got the joke (only other one was Mortimer, who was silenced overruled...via a kick to the shin), put it forward, without mentioning it originally referred to a 'band of gorillas')

Cast of Leprechauns
(in reference to a 'cast of hawks', a partial reference to their 'hawkish' attitude involving their wares & prices. Was immediately copyrighted by them. Go figure)

Watch of Maeves
(in reference to a 'watch of nightingales'. Put forward personally by Kirito, in direct reference to the 'inspiring' classical portrayal of nightingales in the arts & various mythologies. Asuna was blushing furiously for the rest of the meeting)

Tome of Cardinal
(new term specifically requested by Bishop/Cardinal for all it's/her terminal bodies. Never proven, it is near unanimous by the Fae that it was Bishop who came up with the term, although she denies it. Cardinal, rather then Cardinals, is the proper term)

Laughing Coffin were a buncha psychos. The most recent episode of SAO season 2 shows the operation to take down Laughing Coffin. When a Laughing Coffin member's HP hit the red zone, the guys fighting them would hesitate, demand surrender. Said LC member does not hesitate and goes for the kill. A lot of LC members chose to fight to the death and take as many with them as they could instead of surrendering.
You mean to say that bandits that Shiori killed (the only action that don't fall under "soldier" and/or "mind-affecting influence") were less ready to maim, kill or rape than LC? I don't think so...

Yes actually. Most Laughing Coffin members have either completely lost it or think it's all still just a game. Think Jack the Ripper level of nuts. In general bandits don't want to die and if someone gives them the option to surrender after everything gone to hell for them (the bandits) they will most likely take it.

EDIT: Misunderstood your meaning. Yeah, bandits are just as bad if not worse than Coffins.
EDIT 2: Also, can we call Laughing Coffin a different acronym than LC? LacksCreativity is a favorite author of mine and quite a lot of people call him LC.

How so? I can't really tell a difference beyond some minor details.

And the only reason I moved was Halko since that was all I followed on SB. If it moves back I will follow. What happened with SB anyway?
While there is a dedicated thread out for this (found here) the gist of it is that SV was originally created because of the (perceived) betrayal by certain SB administrators. The fact that shortly afterwards the lag struck so heavily a number of authors decided to switch boards is a coincidence.

This will be my last post on this matter as it is decidedly off topic.

EDIT: Ninja'd!

On topic: Is there a picture anywhere of Octavia's current form by the way? The image I'm getting is that she's a pixie version of the Nyriads.
