Halkegenia Online Thread 22 - Kill Sheffield Vol. 2

Idea time: What are the odds of Albion launching a new attack with unknown weapons mentionned before happening at the same time the group looking to get off are about to set sail?

Not likely. It's only been a little over a week since Sheffield was attacked. That's not really enough time to get all those orders to Gallia sent and delivered plus she may still need a little time to work on that 'windstone cannon' thing that's been hinted at. The initial invading forces will want to be sufficiently armed and supplied before they mobilize.

I'm not sure how long of a time skip TH plans between volumes, but I give it two more weeks. Three tops.

Agreed with Mahrac they are focusing on the gargolyes if I am reading TH right and not the giants.
So they need numbers to counter the Fae. They are fast vicous and I think something special but I dont recall what at the moment.
So they are going to Zerg rush the Fae with equal speed foes instead of the glaciers the giants are which would be correctly demolished by the Fae who handle large foes easily.

An example from Destiny there are a LOT of large enemies for the most part they are Tank Spanks meaning you just focus fire on them and they will go down.
What players have learned to fear is the Adds either rushing you and mowing you down or pinning you where the large can demolish you.
Also Splash damage:mad::mad::mad::mad: I am behind a pillar and 10 feet away from it and Still getting splash damage.

But Sheffield is going for the Gargolyes instead of the large Giants.

You know what they say:
"Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying"

You forgot "Get Busy Killing" too :p

Salvaged and patched what was fix-able from the lineart, set alongside the old armor for comparison. May as well see what's worth keeping and discarding.

Left bracer is bigger to store modified Assassin's Blade. The helmet in this one is sleeker, though I might switch to the first draft helmet for the next version, especially for the ears.
And to shorten those sabatons, how I drew them too long I fail to realize how I did that.

I totally dig the Gundam-style hilt arrangement on the right one. :D

I guess because people are so used to things going wrong or astray they can't imagine them getting off albion without a hitch which would be the perfect reason for it to happen without trouble.
Unspoken plan guarantee. IIRC, our only information about the plan is that it involves a cart and bribery. Ergo, TH can write anything and have it be totally according to plan no matter how bad it looks.

P.S. Huh. This forum thing is surprisingly good. Maybe I should have cared earlier.

I don't know how Gargoyles were portrayed in ZnT cannon, but an additional feature I would add is that they'd have a 'control sigil' on both the head and heart; meaning a Gargoyle could still potentially fight even while being beheaded, or a hole blown threw the chest. Kind of like that suit of armor guy in Fullmetal Alchemist. It would mean that while they likely would be slower, less agile, and clumsier than the Fae and posses no magical offensive ability, you'd not only have to deal with them in numbers, but each individual one would need a bit more effort to destroy than normal.

I like the way End Bringer thinks. I'm also wondering if Sheffield won't incorporate some of what she learns thanks to Albion's secret vaults. The ones she's been riffling through looking for the music box. She's already mentioned making notes on everything useful to send back to Gallia.

Glowing Gargoyles when the enemy is near?

And one thing to remember is you have to include a scene or two of a Fae leading a few Gargoyles on a chase than dodging to make them crash into a wall or such, in honor of the cartoon series. :D

As I've said before, half the reason I made Caramella half american with an american geek for a dad was so that somebody could make cracks about western media.

Caramella : "I'm getting flashbacks. These things aren't made of 'Cold Iron' are they?"

I can't help but see it taking half a dozen Gargoyles to take down a single low-mid tier Fae. Downside is, the Fae are outnumbered at least 12 to 1 when it comes to Gargoyles.

EDIT

Caramella : "I'm getting flashbacks. These things aren't made of 'Cold Iron' are they?"

Asuna: "At least they aren't packing laser cannons! *Notices stares* What?"

I though she already used them as Firestone Delivery platforms. Intercontinental Ballistic Gargoyles. :o

Do Gargoyles have an intercontinental range though? I always thought the things had something akin to an operation radius or a battery life?

Also, anything to keep or change before I plan out the final concept of the armor?

It looks good to me. But what do I know, I'm just the author.

Well, it's not an armor that works if the aesthetics doesn't appeal to the author now does it? ~ :)

Will likely refine those shoulders some more, maybe balance out the roundness to the sharpness this time.

Amusing note, all the references I gathered and collected were never put to use, I just saw a picture of a knight's armor one day, drew up the shoulder armor and the rest sort of fixed itself.

Needs a V-Fin on the right one.

*runs*

What V-Fin?

I will NEVER get over that stupid mustache looking thing on the Turn-A.

From what I remember of Sheffields thoughts after surviving Shiori's attack when considering countermeasures was that she expected the Fae to make the Jormunganders ineffective fairly quickly, but that the Gargoyles would take some time in development and production before being deployable effectively. She considered that it might simply be time to use the Jormunganders in the upcoming invasion to get at least some use out of them.
