Also, how does everyone have so much skill? I thought I was going over the top with mine?

So I don't think anyone's matching up to the app that got our GM to go all caps. I'm definitely not.

Same. 2,000+ words for a backstory... it's kinda nuts. I think the longest I've ever done didn't even break 1,500.
By abusing the fact that this is freeform.
By having a character who wants to be a hero and has dedicated her life to it!

...genuinely wants to be a hero, not wants to be a hero in the Shiro sense.

It was more 2000+ words by the time I was done expanding the entire sheet. Includes quirk and skill expansions too, but it was mostly fleshing out the backstory. Parents, childhood, friends who now have names. I should probably name Chihiro's parents...

Of course the event that really made Chihiro want to be a hero took full control of my hands in the end. I ended up making a minor character with an actual name too.

How many skills di you have?

How many skills di you have?
Chihiro has one actual Skill as related to Heroing.

She happens to be quite good at this skill since she started learning it during childhood, and her quirk meshes absurdly well with it even though she doesn't use it properly. I'd add another in the form of 'communication' or charisma but such a thing is far better off role played out instead of informed.

I'm reminded of the time I wrote a 13,000 word backstory for a One Piece roleplay on these boards

Good memories

Chihiro's future occupation is going to be two of three main possibilities.

1, human therapy animal that has a part time job in stress testing equipment for Heroes.

2, a pretty good Hero after a shit ton of teaching.

3, the weirdest 'Wait is that a Villain or Vigilante?' ever to roam this earth.

She's also almost certainly a vegetarian of some sort and probably has strong beliefs on animal rights. Perhaps even plant rights. Running on actual nightmare fuel will do that to a child.

I had so much fun making my dragon character, I went and made some more characters. These aren't submissions, I already showed them to Lost and he knows this, I literally just did it for shits and giggles. And I figured I'd share them. Check 'em out.

Name: Haruka Shokaze

Power Base: Slow-Motion

Appearance: A slightly shorter than average japanese teenager, Haruka's silver hair, electric blue eyes and slim features are enough to get him labeled as a bishonen. Unfortnatly, he has a serious case of resting-bitch-face.

Costume: Since his powers don't need any augmentation, his costume is a fairly standard body suit with light armor, mostly in sliver but with some yellow and black stripes on his arms, legs and in an X across his chest for ornamentation. His only real instruction when submitting a costume requests was for a full-face mask, which he got. His face is completely covered, with yellow lenses to protect his eyes but the mask is open at the top so his silver hair can flow freely.

Quirk: Slow-motion: As long as Haruka holds his breath, everything around hims slows down to a near stop. He doesn't have any ability to hold his breath for extended periods of time though, so he only has a few seconds to a minute depending on how much he exerts himself before he needs to let go and take another breath.

Skills:

Bio: Haruka was born into a fairly average family with fairly average jobs in a fairly average town. He should have lived a fairly average life, if not for two thing. First was his very above average Quirk. The other was an incident on his first day of school, something so embarrassing that he tries to avoid thinking about it. The incident left him with longstanding social anxiety. He constantly feels as though anybody who isn't his immediate family is watching him intently, judging his every action. This caused him to avoid people and when he was forced to interact with them, he spoke in short, clipped sentences to avoid messing up and embarrassing himself. This habit, combined with his natural good looks, resting-bitch-face and high-quality Quirk, earned him a false reputation for arrogance. His classmates and even some teachers all thought that Haruka thought he was too good for him, that he saw himself as above them, when really, nothing could be farther from the truth.

The entire situation was unbearable for Haruka. He was alone, friendless and everybody thought he was a huge jerk. While part of him wished to be left alone, mostly he just wished he wasn't such a coward about talking to people. He craved positive social interaction. So he decided go with desperate measures and try and become a hero in order to get some positive attention. Even if it was from a distance, Heroes have the public's adoration. If he succeeded, Haruka could have the positive attention he craved while also not having to directly interact with people to earn it. He could even wear a mask to hid his face. It would be tough but he decided to go for it.

Name: Mahoko Bakudan (First Last)

Power Base:Energy blast
Appearance: Mahoko is a 5'1", waifishly thin Japanese girl. Her hair is a deep purple, mostly straight other than some curly bangs and falls to mid-back in regards to length. However, what really stands out are her eyes. Her sclera are black and flecked with tiny sparkles of light, like the night sky filled with stars, her irises are the same purple as her hair and her pupils actually change shape and color depending on her mood. If she feels love or just see's something cute, her pupils change into pink hearts, she gets fire balls in her eyes if she's made or determined and if she see's something really cool she gets literal sparkles in her eyes.

Costume: A purple qipao dress, the same color as her hair, with gold thread for the color, other edges and some stars across the dress. The hem of the dress stops right above her knees so that it doesn't get in the way when she kicks and Mahoko wears a pair of bike shorts underneath so nobody gets a panty shot when she does so. She has a white bolero jacket that she wears over the dress, again with gold highlights, but it's purely for fashion and maybe to keep her arms a bit warmer. She discards it when ever she needs to fight.

Quirk: Burst Mark. Mahoko can mark any surface she can see with a small, purple circle, about the size of a 100 yen coin. She can also place the mark anywhere on her body without needing to look at it. Whenever something touches the mark, it explodes with a purple blast, producing light, noise and kinetic energy but no heat. The explosion is focused outwards, with no recoil pushing back on the surface the mark was placed on. She can also chose to erase any mark she's created without detonating it. Mahoko can determine how powerful an explosion will be when she creates a mark, with the weakest possible explosion a mark can produce feeling like a strong shove and they grow stronger from there. She hasn't tested the upper limits of how powerful an explosion can be yet.

However, Mahoko cannot place unlimited marks. The marks draw on a pool of energy within Mahoko, with the amount of energy she puts into a mark determining how powerful the explosion will be, as well as determining how many she can place. If runs out of her energy pool, she won't be able to create any more marks until she regains some of the energy. The amount of energy in the pool is set, and any mark that detonates or that Mahoko reabsorbs without detonating instantly returns the all the energy that was put into it. Mahoko hasn't tested to see how powerful the explosion would be if she dumped her entire energy pool into a single mark yet, mostly due to fearing the destructive potential. Judging from past explosions, she might be able to blow up an entire city block.

Skills:
Master of the Eight Extremities Fist: Mahoko has trained extensively in the martial art Bajiquan, a style that focuses on explosive, short-range blows and makes frequent use of elbows and shoulders as well as fists. Mahoko can integrate her quirk into her fighting style, by placing her explosive marks on her fists, elbows and anywhere else she might use to hit an enemy, but even without her quirk, she could easily kill a man with her skill alone.

Nerd: Mahoko loves reading books and learning new things. In addition to knowing quite a bit about a wide range of topics, from biology to manga trivia, and being a genius at studying, her memory is extremely good as well. Not perfect but she rarely forgets anything important. Or not so important.

Bio: Mahoko is a bright, cheerful and energetic young lady. She could properly be called a genki girl and she would probably embrace the title. Extroverted, perhaps to the extreme, she has little trouble getting into trouble, thanks to her lack of fear or shame and her strong sense of justice. Although, perhaps "sense of justice" is the wrong way to put it. If she sees someone in pain or unhappy, she will do her best to see them smile, without thinking. Same with stopping bad guys, if she sees someone doing something bad, she'll try and stop them automatically.

She isn't perfect of course. Her bubbly attitude, as well as her tendency to stick her nose where it doesn't belong sometimes (rightly) pisses people off. She has little sense of privacy or even personal space and in a certain way, her unthinking need to interfere with other people's business, even with the best of intentions, can actually be pretty selfish. In addition, she's actually pretty childish, loving sweets and candy, complaining loudly about stuff she doesn't like and generally not realizing that she's being annoying.

Mahoko has dreamed of being a hero from a young age. She's always done her best to help anyone that she thought needed it and she started training in martial arts at a young age in preparation. Her uncle, whom she lives with, strongly disproves however and this has lead to some tension between the two of them. And by "some tension" I mean arguments that their entire apartment complex can hear.

Mahoko was the daughter of two pro heroes. Although there was some difficulty thanks to the hours they had to put into their jobs, they loved their daughter with all their hearts and she loved her parents just as much. And living with such parents, Mahoko's moral code was solid from a young age, her parents of course teaching her right from wrong. Mahoko lived a truly happy life together with them. She even had a new little sibling on the way, although it was too early to tell if it was going to be a boy or a girl.

Until one day when their home was invaded. A villain that her parents had put away had broken out of jail and come for revenge. He attacked and tortured her parents, forcing her to watch. No matter what Mahoko said, no matter how much she pleaded, he wouldn't stop, not even when she begged him to hurt her instead of her parents. Finally, right before he let her parents die, he revealed his plan: he was going to kidnap Mahoko and raise her as a villain, perverting the legacy of her parents.

That was the moment when the heroes finally burst in, forcing the villain to flee and saving Mahoko. But it was to late for her parents. Their injuries were too great and Mahoko was by their hospital beds when they died. Her mother's last words were to tell Mahoko that she was proud of her and that she always will be.

Mahoko went to live with her uncle and immediately started working towards being a hero. She had a goal now, a goal that she would pursue with all her heart. As far as Mahoko knew, the villain that killed her parents was still out there, free to kill and torture as he wanted. So she would train and train. She would make it into the best hero school. She would learn all that she could, prepare in every way for everything he might throw at her. And then, when she was a pro hero and ready, she would hunt him down, beat him down and.... throw him in a jail cell because that's what a hero does!

Name: Mia Ishi

Power Base: Antibody Generation

Appearance: An average looking Japanese girl for her age. She keeps her shoulder-length black hair in a pony tail. The only thing that stands out is the blonde streak she has dyed into her hair and her larger than average bust.

Costume: A set of army fatigues, colored white with red highlights with a red cross on her chest and back, cut to be a little more form-fitting than average. Modified to include light armor. Includes a utility belt and slim backpack filled with medical supplies.

Quirk: Immune System: Mia, when infected with any bacteria, virus, toxin or otherwise harmful substance that produces disease-like symptoms, automatically begins producing Super-Antibodies specifically tailored for that infection that perfectly fight off the infection. These Super-Antibodies can be injected into others, where they will automatically start spreading and combating the disease they were made to fight. Typically, Mia's preferred delivery method of the antibodies is to inject the patient with a vial filled with her own blood but in an emergency, her saliva contains trace amounts of the antibodies as well. She inherited an assault rifle from her dad, which she uses in combat, typically loading it with non-lethal rubber bullets.

Skills:
Expert First Aid: Mia first got trained in basic first aid when she was a child by her father. Since then, she has continued to train and study how to help and heal people. She currently has every aspect of first aid memorized and has begun studying to become a doctor.

Trained Marksman: Mia is skilled with pistols, single-shot rifles and assault riffles. She is by no means an expert or superhuman marksman but she's been trained from a young age and has a small amount of natural talent in the area.

Trained Martial Artist: Mia is an expert in Krav Maga, a brutal combat style that pulls aspects from multiple sources including boxing, judo, karate and muay thai among others.

Survival training: Mia has been trained in techniques to survive being stranded in the wilderness, including fire crafting, hunting and trap crafting, water collection, shelter creation and other skills vital to surviving a hostile environment.

Bio: Mia Ishi's story begins with her father, Darren Ishi, born Darren Smith. Darren is half-American, Half-Japanese, born in America and possessing dual citizenship. When he was in his twenties he joined the Marines and after his tour of duty was done he decided to visit Japan, his mother's homeland. While there he met Sayaka Ishi, and fell in intensely love with her quiet grace and elegance. He eventually married Sayaka, taking her name and becoming a dedicated Husband. When Darren learned his wife was pregnant, he was ecstatic, eager to raise his son just as his father raised him. His enthusiasm was dampened, however, when the ultrasound said the child was a girl.

But when he first met little Mia, held her small form in his arms and saw her sleepy face, he knew he had met the most important person in his life. He fell in love with her instantly and he utterly adored his little girl. However, Darren was a man's man and didn't know what to do with a girl. So he followed his wife's advice and just did his best with what he did know, playing catch with her, taking her to sports games, teaching her how to fish and go camping. Thankfully, Mia loved it and, more than that, she loved her awesome daddy.

One day, the day that would change the course of Mia's life, Mia and her dad were walking down the street together. They had just gotten some ice cream and wear heading to the park when they came across a burning building. A fire throwing villain had started a rampage and the local heroes were busy trying to catch him, leaving the regular police force and fire-fighters stretched thin. So when they came across a burning building with people trapped inside and no fight-fighters in sight, Mia's dad didn't hesitate. He charged right in, his body moving before he knew what he was doing. He rescued all the people trapped inside but the fire and the smoke took their toll on his body. He would have died if not for Recovery Girl, who had been helping out with the aftermath.

On that day, Recovery Girl became Mia's personal hero for saving her dad's life and Mia wanted to follow in her footsteps. She asked her dad for help in her dream of becoming a hero and he agreed. Pulling on his background as a Marine, he trained her in physical fitness, martial arts, shooting, first aid and survival. With these skills and her father's service rifle, she applied for U.A.

Any chance you feel like posting your sheet? I'm genuinely curious as to what this could look like.

hhhhhhhggggg.

I will say that an unfortunate event happens. This event had a happy ending due to some absolutely adorifying use of Befriending by Chihiro. Also Chihiro's mom is a tall sharky toothed lady who can safely digest horribly dangerous things, and her empath father is an angel. Tiny flightless wings! Together they made a devil girl. It's very ironic and cute according to Mrs. Miyaguchi. After telling you that she will probably go back to rubbing her cute family's fluffy heads.

I named Chihiro's best female friend Umeko. I gave her purple hair and a quirk that grows plums because it's the ultimate parental pun. Doing so made me feel bad so I actually put effort into the male friend's name. Takumi's quirk would let him be a good artist, but he hates it and prefers to write instead.

His quirk is being able to perfectly draw anything he sees three times, but only in Traditional Japanese style. Takumi also tends to write in really fancy ways and with old fashioned words too. It thankfully does not extend to the way he talks. One reoccurring dream is being sent back in time to ye old Japan. Sometimes it's a nightmare and other times it's just a weird dream.

Drawing normally is possible, but everyone always talks about how much better his 'real' art looks. RIP Takumi.

Umeko has a hobby of gardening and cooking. It's pretty expected of her due to having a plant quirk and being a girl, but it's way more relaxing than people constantly asking about her plums, or being around her weirdo parents. She tried smoking once but it made her feel like utter shit for about two minutes and then a minor quirk related noodle incident happened. Umeko came to the conclusion that such acts of teen rebellion against parents/society were for other people.

Umeko's biggest pet peeve is how her entire life seems to revolve around a plant or color based punchline, but she's mostly accepted it. Her main skill is making sure Chihiro doesn't get into trouble. This allows her to wrangle cats in theory. Her favorite thing is learning how to cook with Chihiro's mom. Meat dishes are her favorite food.

One thing she cannot stand is how hippy-kirakira her parents were when she was a child. Sometimes she'll exploit their embarrassing past to get a bigger allowance.

I was more referring to how both lils and ande drew their own char pics. Cam did too, for that matter.

Nah, I just did a black&White doodle of what Chihiro's heroine outfit would be like. I might do actual Chihiro or settle on preexisting art as a character image instead.

Yeah, im still not going to go with a full 1000+ words backstory. For one I don't feel that it's needed, and for another, that would kill my enjoyment in the RP. I think mine's good enough as it is.
