Glory of the Emerald Empire (Legend of the 5 Rings Quest)

Hate to say it, but I think we probably need to roll for composure. Assuming we pass, I say we taunt him with his failure. Failed to notice us at all, failed to stop Gazat'ken from getting through with a warning, and now failed to stop us from destroying his little project here... granted, Jigoku has been failing for over a thousand years, but that doesn't mean it's particularly patient when its servants emulate it.

Taunting is perfectly acceptable as a vote, though Sosuke will need to roll Will in order to proceed with that. He is, as of right now, just about two steps from a truly impressive level of rage. Anything aside from attacking will require rolling against Sosuke's Brash Disadvantage.

[x] Will test for Composure vs Brash

If Success

"Am I supposed to be intimidated by a pathetic fool who let himself surrender to evil because he lacked the spine to fight it? Come 'Hachi' and let us see what your head looks like splattered against the wall. I'm betting it looks like a fruit"

Proceed to Attack with Tetsubo.

If Failure

Attack with Tetsubo, Full Attack stance and Feint.

Yeah, probably we will have to check a will roll, but more to actually keep our cool down for recognizing him as Gazat'ken murderer. You know, brash trait and all that.

PD: Scorpion'd by the GM.

[x] CRAB SMASH
[x] To our allies - "Kill the lost first!"

Also, changed vote to Sightedjt

[x] "Ah! It is the failure! Did you know, oh Hachi, how much of a failure you are? You failed as a samurai, and became tainted. You failed to stop my friend Gazat'ken from bringing word of the attack, and so saw to the failure of your master's intensely planned assault. You failed to find me as I hid among the stones, and thus left me alive to be a terrible thorn in your master's side. Now here, tonight, your newest plan is failing around you as we speak. How does it feel to be a failure, Hachi? Are you not concerned? It's true Jigoku has been failing for over a thousand years, but that doesn't mean it's particularly patient when its servants emulate it! Come, Hachi! Let us bring an end to your failure of a life!"
[x] Do the thing we do and tank him.
- [x] Obviously, someone ought to be stabbing him in the back while we do that, but we're in a room full of Scorpion allies who have reason to hate this guy. I'm pretty sure that they can take care of that part on their own.

Because tiny squid's taunt is awesome.

Would it be wrong to spend a void point here?

Hmm... I would rather save the void point for when we get some damage. Sosuke damage is high enough for not need to get a little boost from a void point.

I like this plan...

...and I love this phrasing.

If we make composure...

If we fail composure...
[x] Just stand up and whale on the guy, fitting in bits of insult as we have breath for them, to try to keep him focused on us.

Will Roll: 3k3+6=18
Attack Roll: 7k3=33
Damage Roll: 6k3=16

In another time, in another place, you might have made a retort toward this man. You would have berated him for his failures, mocked him for his attempts at intimidation. You've gotten far more skilled in this last month at verbally attacking people, after all.

But none of that registers right now, for you are far too full of rage to care to engage this Tainted abomination in wit.

This man killed Gazat'ken. This man murdered a hero, someone who laid down his life so that your people would be better prepared. This Hachi had taken that hero away, had poisoned him so that Gazat'ken died in excruciating agony while you held on to his hand.

It is an insult that this monster lives while your friend does not. It is an injustice that this Tainted coward still draws breath while Gazat'ken has faded away into Yesterday. By what right does this villain have to exist, when someone so much nobler does not? You cannot stand for it! You will not stand for it!

Your vision clouds over, and all you see is red as Hachi raises a hand toward the ceiling. Nothing else exists in this room for you save yourself and the man you are going to kill.

"Embrace the blood!" Hachi cries, his shark tooth smile widening. All around you the sounds of battle increase in fervor, and you hear cries of pain from your allies. But you do not care, focusing only on your enemy. "Rip them apart!"

You roar and charge forward, slamming your tetsubo into Hachi before he can properly react. The hit strikes clean, your weapon crashing into the man's expansive chest and sending cracks through his armor. It is a respectable blow, and easily one that would have sent even a strong man stumbling backward gasping for air.

And yet, Hachi does not. Despite the damage to his armor, and the give you felt from his ribs, he doesn't seem to be feeling any pain. All he does is grunt and set his shoulders, throwing your tetsubo off of him with one hand and almost making you stagger. The man's strength is monstrous! Then, his pointed teeth set in a scowl, Hachi raises his sword arm above his head. His overlarge muscles bulge beneath his skin, and then he strikes.

You just barely turn aside in time, the Tainted man's sword missing you by scant inches. The force behind that attack is such that a mighty breeze passes by your face, buffeting you and making your eyes water. Hachi's katana smashes into the floor of the longhouse and sends clods of dirt flying into the air. Where the sword's tip lies, there is now a crater almost one foot across.

The Lost man recovers quickly, gripping his sword with both hands and stepping back from you. If he is at all perturbed by the injury you have inflicted on him, he's not showing it. The smile is gone, however, replaced by a look of extreme concentration. Hachi is taking you seriously now.

Yeesh that's going to hurt if we get tagged.

Also Killed with words?

anyways, we're in Hida Smash mode, if not for the fact that we're pissed I say go defensive and keep him occupied until the time honoured tradition of 'bring friends' comes in to play.

As it is?

[x] Attack with Tetsubo, use Void point to negate damage as needed.

Thanks for pointing out the typo, Gman. Fixed now.

You know, you can roll Will again to snap out of your rage. Considering you just dodged a blow that took out a large chunk of the floor, I'll allow Sosuke that opportunity. Because honestly? That right there is pretty freaky.

Actually... his attacks are pretty freaky-strong, but given that he does have useful things he can do in this fight that *aren't* based around hitting us, we may be better off at least taking swings at him anyway. Wound penalties are pretty important in this game.

Will save is at 20 IIRC which means that we'd have to roll at least two sevens and a six to beat.
*Notes to self to raise Earth

Still all things considerd Sirroco has the right of it, we do need to try to inflict wound penalties, if he can't hit us then it won't hurt too much.

yeap...though, WK has alluded to this guy just flat out ignoring his Wounds.
