Glory of the Emerald Empire (Legend of the 5 Rings Quest)

[X] Throw the table at them, and hopefully stall the attack for a few seconds.
-[X] "Only thing missing is the play!"
-[X] Once you throw the table move forward, so that you are the first one they face.

[X] Charge them with the table and give your comrades time to ready themselves.
- [x] Speculate mentally as to which of the Fortunes might be responsible for this sort of thing happening every time we go out into a city.

Yasuki-sama must have an actual list written out at this point of things he might have to deal with after one of Sosuke's excursions.

On a more serious note, looks like Doji Noboru is a member of the Kolat. Which raises the question of why they see sabotaging the Crab war effort as useful, or at least it would if the Kolat were actually competent.

We can use one of their knives after we beat one of them to death with the table.

See if we can knock some of them over the balcony. The fall may not kill them, but limiting the number on enemies to be engaged at once is always usefull. Come to think of it, better keep an eye on the door, as a flanking attack is quite possible.

Beating people to death with the furniture is always a nice stress relief.

We might keep the table even when we draw our wakazashi - shortsword and shield is very strong.

"We're under attack!" you bellow, rising to your feet grabbing the table on both sides. Food and drink goes flying as you turn it over, holding it before your body as you charge forward to meet your foes head on.

A motion that obviously surprised them, judging by how they scramble to get out of the way. Four of the assailants dash and roll to the side as much as they are able within the confines of the balcony, trying their best to avoid your headlong rush. From behind you hear the shouts of your friends as they run in behind you, coming to grips with these sudden adversaries.

The last two enemies, however, are not nearly so fortunate as their comrades. You hit them with all the force of a charging boar, taking both off their feet and slamming them into the railing. The wood of the table cracks beneath your hands, a sound that almost drowns out cries of pain as your enemies just barely manage to keep from being thrown off balcony.

Then they begin hacking away at the table with their knives. The furniture, already beginning to break beneath your hands, trembles as shards of wood are torn from its form. You are not entirely certain how long your impromptu weapon will last, but you cannot imagine it will be for very long.

You spare a glance over your shoulder toward your allies. Hosaru is keeping one assassin at a distance with his spear, darting forward like a snake to pick away at his opponent. There isn't much room to maneuver on this balcony, but the Daidoji is doing a fine job utilizing what he has. Shirou, as well, is staying well out of reach of his enemy's knives. He stands atop the railing, unmindful of the distance below him as he prepares to strike.

Mataru, however, is not faring nearly so well. The remaining attackers have placed their full attention on him, and he is just barely keeping them off with his wakizashi. The shorter weapon is well suited for these cramped confines, but with so little room to move he is having a difficult time. Already you can see shallow wounds on your friend's arms staining his kimono in blood, and only one of his foes has a wound across his chest in answer.

In many ways this battleground is both a blessing and a curse. You are outnumbered, but these assassins cannot take full advantage of their numbers within this space. However, they are making as much use of the limited room as possible and deftly avoid getting in each other's way. It is obvious these six have trained together, so even if they are hampered Mataru is still at a disadvantage fighting against both his foes at once.

You turn back to your own battle and grimace. They cannot put much force behind their swings from where they stand, and their other hands have to stay on the railing lest they be knocked off, but this table was never meant to be a barrier. The furniture splinters and breaks despite your best efforts to hold it together, revealing the cloth wrapped faces of your enemies. You've only seconds to make a decision on your next move, so you must act quickly!

[] Push with the table again.
[] Drop the table and attack with your wakizashi.
[] Aid one of your friends.
[] Write in.

We're as good with the table, as we are with the sword.

It'll take time to drop and draw, and tacticly, if we can put 2 out of the fight, we can then help our friends.

[x] Push with the table again.
