[X] Seek out Yasuki Goro and give him a run down of what the mouthpiece said, and what he offered. Leave out P'an Ku.
-[X] If he figures out we're hiding something from him, try to say something vague like "There was another probably being there, who is probably not malevolent. They have asked me to keep their presence secret, and I dare not say more."
Sincerity Roll: 4k3=27
Memories of your encounter with P'an Ku and Nisshoku linger as time passes, and the next day you seek out Yasuki Goro. You would speak with your superior about what happened, at least as much as you are able. The feel of the prayer beads nestled within your robes reminds you of P'an Ku's desire for secrecy… But even still, there are certainly ways you can inform your Lord of what occurred.
You don't find a chance to speak with Yasuki Goro until the next day. As always, his time is almost entirely consumed with meeting various delegates in both public and private venues. It seems that while court is not in session in any official capacity, behind the scenes politics continues unabated.
Yasuki Goro takes you inside his chambers, his desk covered in notes as usual. You happen to overlook one page as you settle yourself across the table. Not intentionally, of course. Your Lord's business is his own, after all. Regardless, you can't make heads of tales of what he's writing. It is obviously in some sort of code, a cipher different from what you're used to seeing amongst the Bushi of the Crab. Which isn't a great surprise, really.
"Greetings, Sosuke-san," you superior says. "I do apologize for being so often out of reach, but with matters currently as they are I've been finding myself quite busy." He smiles grimly. "The time before a battle is often almost as hectic as the battle itself."
"I completely understand, Yasuki-sama," you reply. "I wished to inform you of an… incident that happened yesterday."
Yasuki Goro blinks, then sighs. "I see." He waves a hand. "Please go on then, Sosuke-san?"
"I received a letter from Mirumoto Hanabi-san asking that we meet for tea while she was on break, but this was a forgery," you say. "When I arrived at the teahouse, I was instead approached by what I believe to be an agent of the Shadow Dragon."
"You what?" Yasuki Goro hisses, his eyes going wide. He leans forward. "Speak quickly, Sosuke-san, and keep your voice down. You never know who might be attempting to listen in, even in private chambers."
"It was the creature Nisshoku, who sent that other letter asking to meet at the Pale Radiance," you whisper, leaning close to the courtier. "He said that he and the… being that he represents wanted me to know that they wished me fortune in the disposal of Moto Shinichiro's copy, and that there would be no interference from them."
"No interference?" your Lord whispers. "But if Nisshoku is an agent of the Shadow Dragon, wouldn't he and Moto Shinichiro be allies?" He rubs his chin, brow furrowing as he considers the matter. "How odd."
"I was also given… offers, Yasuki-sama. Nisshoku claimed them to be a reward for dealing with the nuisance of Moto Shinichiro." You look up for a brief moment to catch his eyes. It pushes propriety, but you wish him to know your sincerity. "I did not accept."
Yasuki Goro looks at you for several long moments, measuring you. You can feel the weight of his gaze as he weighs your words, taking everything you've said and running it through that impressive mind he holds. No doubt he is considering if you are compromised, and will act appropriately if so.
You do not blame him for his concern. The Crab, more than anyone else, must take care to avoid infiltrators. The only other Clan that might worry over such things would be the Scorpion, and they wouldn't need to deal with supernatural subterfuge. Well, for the most part. You've certainly heard stories.
As it stands, if he decides he must end your life then you've little doubt he would make the attempt. Yasuki Goro is shorter than you, but he is broad shouldered and strong. With his wrestling experience he could likely get you into a hold and then start breaking bones, all while yelling for help. Your life would end quite swiftly after that.
Even still, you would let him know what happened. It is the right thing to do, no matter the risk. Your duty demands no less of you.
"I believe you," he says at last. "I've known you too long to believe you a traitorous liar, and would like to think I am a good judge of character." He sighs and shakes his head. "You certainly have a way of making things interesting, Sosuke-san."
"I assure you it's not intentional, Yasuki-sama," you respond. "I'll try to avoid any more surprises if I can."
"Very good," he says while gathering his papers in a pile. "I will carefully reveal what you have told me about Nisshoku to select parties, but you will tell no one what you experienced." He looks up at you. "Are we understood?"
