Glory of the Emerald Empire (Legend of the 5 Rings Quest)

I think... This is way, way, way above our pay grade.

[x] "I think that your offer is too good to be true creature. I fact I know it is. But I am but a humble samurai. My superiors will hear of your offer. What they do with it is their concern."

Kick it further up the ladder.

[X] You remember your dreams so long ago. Of the man ridden by grief and making a deal over the death of a loved one. They might have been prophetic dreams or might not have been, but you will die before you accept a deal that could be the very same sin that caused her death in the first place.
-[X] Delicately, with all your control and anger, politely decline. This is a poisoned offer. You will have no part in it.
--[X] Blow a Void Point on the roll.

Been following this quest since it started, and just dropping in for a bit, but this....
[x] "What I wish?" Consider.
"Very well, I wish for you, and all those like you to cease tempting me and my fellow Samurai to sin. I wish for you to leave me alone. If you wish to give me a reward, then I claim non interference as my reward."
Nnnnot such a good idea from what I gather, since it could be (and likely would be) taken as accepting a reward from it.

Which would...be bad/dishonourable/some combination of both?

Though my knowledge of L5R is rather lacking(even if this quest has helped it a lot), so feel free to correct me.

Actually, that's a good point. Mouth-kun would just do something to us in order for whatever it represents doesn't need to interfere so....

If this doesn't work, Tesubo is coming to play.

Be nice to somehow work in a reference to how bargaining with Kisada ultimately cost Fu Leng his life and ended with Kisada being raised to a Fortune so he'd always be able to oppose evil, but the writing juice isn't flowing on that one for me.

- [jk] "I'd like to live just long enough to be there when they cut off your head and stick it on a pike as a warning to the next ten generations that some favors come with too high a price. I would gaze up into your lifeless eyes and wave, like this. Can you and your associates arrange this for me, Nisshoku-san?"

@Winged Knight, are we allowed to honor roll if we fail this one?

I know you've switched your vote, but I feel this question is worth answering. Yes, I will allow an Honor Roll in this case should the regular roll fail. I've been considering how to handle Honor Rolls in general, and I think I'll go with them being once per arc for now unless I think up anything better.

I think we can trust the judgement of the Black Foe of the World on this, he's the Ultimate Dark Lord after all. If that's what he'd do to a man saying that, that is what will happen.

On that note, Melkor/Morgoth vs Rokugan, who wins?

On the whole, Rokugan badasses are a lot higher-powered than Middle-Earth badasses. Morgoth seems to spend most of his time scheming in the darkness and not actually ever making a physical form, with the occasional attempt to tempt... really, at best Morgoth is comparable to Fu Leng, and Fu Leng failed, so....

Why, I'd never! I am as pure and innocent as the driven snow!

Melkor wins, Morgoth loses.

Since I'm sure someone calc'd Melkor at some point and it turned out to be completely and utterly ridiculous, whereas Morgoth is a scrub who burnt most of his power on evil abominations and the like.
