Ghosts of the Ancestors. (A Cultivation Riot Quest).

Refining our ears with Blood Qi should now be at 18+14=32/38, so it'd be a good contender for the tally bonus, especially with the chalice divination having been completed.
With the advantage on lie detection and on perception against anything with a pulse (like... bandits) that sounds like a good idea.

If it gets finished without it, I'd like to nominate Breakthrough skill.
(For Dantian)

Also, when we are in a sect with a shop again and have Breakthrough 5, should we let Li do the Meridian opening with Reflection from alchemy pills?
Doubling Meridian value again. (But: May have to delay opening)

[X] Condense Qi in Guang Li Dantian. Cost 2 (3 for later stages) Qi per time taken [16/135]. Advance to QC 3 high.
-[X] use 2 Water Qi

We don't have any Blood Qi right now, so I doubt it'll get finished this turn.

With the bonus from getting nine grade 1 body refinements his wisdom bonus is now +8, so he'd only need a Breakthrough skill of 4 to have a 98.74% chance of opening the fifth meridian (for 1.8x), and the one after that would still be 95% at the same level. I still think using Yin qi is good enough, if we can make that many reflection pills they're better saved for mind refining.

What about his odds of finishing 2 meridians in one go? if he gets a high enough rolls it would let him get 2 meridians for the price of 1.

[X] craft a Qi siphon [2/8 crafted]- with their knowledge the ancestors can manipulate the Qi around Guang Li spiritual roots into a whirlpool drawing in ambient Qi into his dantian without his or their intervention, unfortunately without active guidance they cannot take advantage of the clear meridians to draw even more Qi.
-[x] Yin [53/170]. +1 Yin Qi per turn, +1 to all ghost rolls.
[x] Lock: Use Blood Spillling Cycle only on those that either (a) have made themselves our enemy or (b) volunteered for it or (c) are animals/sub-sophont Spiritbeasts

Don't forget to roll.

Additionally, thanks to his own his mind has finally been refined. Guang Li now thought faster than ever, his mind making connections and retaining information at speeds he could never have hopped to, the reflection Qi that sat within his mind empowering his mind to heights few know. And perhaps for a good reason as Guang Li felt he's walking on clouds, his mind effortlessly picking up an absorbing all the information around him.

His ancestors assured him its nothing dangerous and he would soon return from the high the extreme shift in perspective has created.

[X] Learn skill: alchemy. Reason: on a high from increased comprehension.

[X] Learn skill: Qi sense. Reason: on a high from increased comprehension.
Btw, cute that he has a high from the successfull refine and instantly wants to learn some more for his favored skills.

Happy good things are happening to him for a change.

[X] Cut away life- using the precise application of wrath cut away a portion of Guang Li life force for the power within. -1 Hp per time taken [10/25] +1 blood Qi.

I finally sat down and created Sun Zian actual sheet (as you'll get some stuff reveled this next turn and I needed to know where exactly he was) and I figured I'll share it with you guys (with some stuff redacted or ???).

Let you get a feel to the power of the elites in this world (well the elites that don't come from a great power at least).

Incidentally (and something I should have provided a long time ago).

Refined items of rank 1-3 are what's expected of QC cultivators to wield and use. 4-9 is FE and 10-18 is CF. Of course, there is nothing stopping someone in QC from using a rank 18 weapon if they ever find one, they will promptly get murder for it by an actual core formation cultivator but many young masters can get away with stuff like this by relying on their backing.

Sun Zian.
Max HP: 450.

Cultivation.

QC8- Peak (at least +42 to all attributes, +25 to dex). 8 peak, 20 fire, 5 ???, 2 pure, 5 lightning.

Refined muscles I-IV (fire) +20 strength. Refined Muscles V (lightning) +45 strength +5 dex.

Refined skin I-IV (fire) +20 constitution. Refine skin V (lightning) +45 constitution. +5 Dex.

Refined Blood I-IV (fire) +20 constitution, +20 dexterity. Refined blood V (lightning) +45 constitution, +50 dexterity.

Refined nerves I-III (fire) +12 dexterity. Refined nerves IV (lightning) +17 dexterity.

Refined senses I-III (fire) +12 perception.

Refined organs I-II (fire) +6 constitution, slight toxic resistance.

Refined bones I-III (fire) +12 constitution, reduced injury rolls.

Refined mind I-II (fire) +6 intelligence, +6 comprehension.

Gem adorned body V (special)- his body counts as rank 5 armor.

And a few more active ones you've yet to see.

Traits:

Immortal III- +3 actions every turn, tiny reduction in needed food and water, HP base calculation changed from con score to con score*2. lifespan calculation changed from base 60+con score to 60 +(con score*2.2).

Greater than the whole II- +3 to all attributes.

Beloved by the heavens- ??? you have no idea what this dos.

He might have more (or he might not).

Attributes (at least at these values, this includes the base he started with but not any refinements/traits you don't know he has):

Strength- 120 (+55).

Dexterity- 193 (+91).

Constitution- 205 (+97).

Wisdom- 57 (+23).

Intelligence- 62 (+25)

Perception-65 (+27)

Skills:

Combat- between 12 to 15.

Cultivation- between 13 to 19.

??? no clue about any others.

Techniques:

None that you've seen.

Inventory:

You know his sword is a t3 artifact but not what it does.

Honestly it's not like he's got any crazy cheats, man's just got a good foundation from all the fire-based body tempering. If our definitely-not-demonic Blood Gathering method gets us a steady Blood Qi income we could more than match that, given time.

At how many years of cultivation would one be expected to have reached that level?
Sun Zian is around 1.5-2 years older than Guang Li.

As for how many years its "expected to take" there are to many variables to really make a prediction like that but for the verdant flame, anyone who took more then 15 years to complete QC (ie get to QC9 and start working on breaking through) is not worth further investment.

Sun Zian actual sheet

Really makes me wonder why he decided to follow us. Its almost like he can sense junior has protagonist energy despite how comparitively unimpressive his talent is.

Refined items of rank 1-3 are what's expected of QC cultivators to wield and use.

Good to know. Something to think about. Like maybe we shouldn't refine his sword until he breaks through to QC4 as a QC3 with a tier 2 artifact might prompt someone to steal it. Ditto on QC7 for tier 3 which is the bigger issue (assuming we don't have more going on at QC6ish)

I love how you can almost see part of his story just from how he seems to have gotten access lightning Qi when he reached ... I wanna say Peak QC7?

Did... did this kid manage to gain a Lightning Root?

Combat- between 12 to 15.

Given that he has level 6 comprehension

Does Junior reaching Combat 7 without any form of comprehension boost come off as its own form of impressive?

Like Combat is the only skill Juniors comprehension boost didn't drive to the bottom.

Greater than the whole II- +3 to all attributes.
Wow he is ,,, top heavy? Is that the right term. Like once the benefits starting getting esoteric he was like 'OK doing the first ones again.'

Like junior could reach this second tier in a couple turns minus the reflection mind, and if we had settled for yin or blood mind that would have been a cinch.

While that is a possibility, its more probable that he just reached a point of wealth where buying pills of lightning in sufficient quantity was both plausible and wont kill him.

It is but also isn't, because no one actually knows his innate comprehension.

Most cultivators do it like Sun Zian, the capstone bonus is just too big not to push for. Wheater that is actually the optimal way to do so is mostly second to the sheer potency gained from completing the refinement.

Yeah no, this is too useful to lock out completely.
It's really, really not. As long as we're working with refined weapons, it's a high cost backup weapon that will never pay off. If at some point we decide that no, we don't want to use refined weapons and instead want to switch to claws, we can go back and vote it unlocked again. This just prevents some random person from burning blood qi to make permanent changes to Guang Li's body that we can't back out of that will do him more harm than good.

[X] Don't lock body refining: refine his nails
[X] body refining (Warth version)- utilizing the power of wrath and blood the ghosts of the Guang may refine Guang Li body to Strange and secret purposes.
-[X] Refine his ear. 1 blood Qi, -2 HP per time taken [18/38]. Gain Pulse Dissecting Sense I (hear heartbeats from a great distince and with great clarity grants advantage to the roll when attempting to ascertain whether someone is lying and perception rolls against anything with a heart/pulse).

This will be even more helpful now that we're in the wild.
