Ghosts of the Ancestors. (A Cultivation Riot Quest).

The fun bit about that teaser was just that minimal insight of meridians~infinite mountain sect immediately made me think of all the meridian based insights that sect may have since they are a great power

Like maybe they can divide the natural meridians to have multiple lanes of starting from scratch and maybe some bonus of a meridian network completed with only one type of qi to provide special bonuses like the breath bonuses but it's just always on for them.

I like that it was so easy to prompt such speculation with the setting created, so good job.

Should this be +7 on the character sheet?
It should yes. I'll fix it when I get home.

Anyways, as I was working on the next part (the outline is done but It'll take a bit as it also includes the aftermath) I've been thinking of the chains of heaven (the things that tie you down and make you mortal and which you crack and bend as you advance in cultivation) mostly because you have a few unlocks you could buy which deal with them so I figured I might crowd found some additional idea's.

Currently I have the following chains of heaven:
The chain of hunger.
The chain of thirst.
The chain of rest.
The chain of sight.
The chain of impurity.
The chain of pain.
The chain of age.
The chain of death.
The chain of earth (gravity).

Currently I have the following chains of heaven:
I'm reminded of the guy from Legend of Korra, so maybe something about social connections...? If you don't have to break all of the chains or have some choice to the order, it might be a choice that is...frowned upon, to break this chain early on...

Social connections tend to be a strength, more than a weakness.

The tyranny of Heaven knows no bounds

The chain of shape, forcing you to have a Shape and worse, face resistance and inertia in changing it

The chain of existence, being forced to exist. Out family knows best that even death doesn't end existence

Chain of Identity, forcing you to be yourself rather then something or someone else

Chain of Interaction, forcing you to interact with the world around you instead of merely manifesting your desires

Chain of Understanding, forcing you to learn and grasp the world rather than merely know all.

Chain of Communication, forcing you to communicate with others to negotiate a mutual understanding.

Chain of Singularity, heaven forces us to be one being instead of multiple beings, we strain this chain when we learn to split off parts of ourselves and make clones

Chain of Locality (Space) heaven forces us to be where it left us and we must spend time traveling instead of just being wherever we want to be.

Chain of Time, don't even get me started. We all know time is an illusory construct. We can't even review past events we were present for beyond our memories without powerful techniques involved. Truly the tyranny of Heaven.

Just realized
People are like, "Does breathing count"

Meanwhile I am all "curse you causality! You reign of Cause proceeding effect will fall before me!"
You forge the most terrible chain of all.
the chain of money.
One day we shall break it and guang shall have all the resources\money he will ever need for his cultivation
We shall seal rob the heavens!

The file that shall cut Lis chain of money is called Alchemy.
No that one is not enough.
Think what is the single greatest bottleneck in cultivation society, that causes the most conflict besides young masters entering random restaurants.
Resources.
the same thing that fuels our alchemy.
The heavens shackle humanity by limiting that and causing conflict between cultivators!

Well, there are some great chain ideas here, not all of them are going to be used but I Like most of them.

Anyways, I realized I should probably roll (and do it publicly so if anyone wants to offer a reroll they can do so) for seeing if anyone you cared about died during this invasion.

Let's see here, you 5 have contacts in the sect, Sun Zian, Ma Fen, Shu Cai, Lu Chi and the struggling disciples.

Its pretty much a coin flip if any of them survived, so we'll roll in that order a d100 dc 50 except for sun Zian (who's beloved by the heavens) and will roll dc 30 (edit: or mayby not?).
uri threw 5 100-faced dice. Total: 300
16 16 56 56 85 85 58 58 85 85

LMAO, the one dude with an easier DC is the only one to fail the roll. Truly, the Heavens have crippling Bipolar Disorder.

Huh, there was a beloved by the heavens amongst us huh?

He's with the heavens now. :V

...unless he has a Best of 2 or something other than the lower DC? :V?

@moon-llama- 3 reroll, 20 points.

@TheNotoriousSM- 1 reroll, 5 points

If either of you feels like saving our contact "Sun Zian", they just failed a DC 30 (no bonuses), so a re-roll would give them a 70% chance to survive.
(Tagging so you are aware of the fleeting opportunity before it passes)

I mean we got into a brawl with him once and haven't seen him in the three months since.

Doesn't feel like he is an actual contact but a potential one that didn't get a chance to do anything before dying. Not sure that is worth trying to save.

Like sure I can imagine being blood brothers and him helping junior avenge the family but like it's a generic NPC who happens to have a name
