Genetic Engineer Quest

Do you have a "monitor" in your head to go with the smart phone/computer, or do you need some external screen in order to recieve visual input?

Basic would have a monitor in your head while very basic would need an external screen.

Robotic Eyes will be better than any biological eye we can create for a _long_ time.

Not necessarily. This is a soft sci-fi where you are creating superhumans that are impossible with real life physics. Unrealistically good biological eyeballs could be a thing if you went down that route and it wouldn't necessarily take a long time to get them.

I'm suggesting we double down on the shinie, because (a) this is the sort of thing where overkill might come in handy (b) knocking it out of the park would likely be good for PR regardless of if thats actually a thing in this quest and (c) its a shinie.

Alright cool thanks.

So, I'm gonna suggest again that we triple down on speed. Combat is all about speed. Speedsters are the most dangerous units on a battlefield, able to take out anything they can hurt, and to run away from anything they can't. Unless our genetic soldiers aren't going to be given guns, that means our troops will be able to take out enemy forces way the hell faster than anything else. So, in conclusion. Speed trumps all. Lets go all in on speed please.

Pregerine Falcons can only achieve that top speed mid dive. So we might be able to learn how to make our humans very good at falling very fast, but that's about it. If you DO want dinosaur stuff, probably better to go for Toughness, since that is something they had a fair bit of.
Yes, dinosaurs had a fair bit of toughness, but as far as I can tell it's a trait they haven't really held onto since 65 million years ago. Speed, on the other hand, is something that's been relevant since pretty much forever.

I might've just extolled the virtues of Speed, but do note that having a high max-speed is worthless if our soldiers don't have bodies and senses that can keep up with it.

Speed also doesn't make their bullets fire faster, harder nor more precise.

It doesn't, but it does mean that they can get into and out of cover easier. Which makes them less likely to die. It means that they can fire semi-auto faster. Which means more rounds down range, means more chances for critical hits. Speed means more territory covered. Speed means faster redeployment. Speed means surprise. Speed means attacking the enemy from behind. Speed has limits sure, but part of designing something to use their speed is ensuring they can survive it. You couldn't significantly increase the speed of humans without also making them tougher and stronger in the process. It'll just be significantly less than a strength or toughness mod on its own. All around. Looks to me like speed is the best thing we could go for. Especially since our units would be equipped based off their strengths/weaknesses. Having all our troops using the equivalent of a .50 anti-material rifle and just shooting, moving, and communicating sounds great to me. We can get vision after, maybe some toughness to support higher speeds. But speed is the biggest, most important thing to have in a fight. In every fight.

You are free to vote for what you want, but I want to point out that as far as I can tell we are not the ones in charge of equipment, and that thinking that our soldiers will get suitable equipment (provided it exists at this point) assumes a level of inter-department communication that can't always be counted on.

Alright, I have changed the game mechanics a bit as I have refined them between this update and the last. Rather than have to worry about lab buildings and upkeep, I have decided to give you a set amount of actions each turn.

Each turn, you get 3 Research Actions, 1 Design Action and 1 Testing Action. Research actions have a cost that applies each time you select it and each time you select a research option, you get progress towards it being completed. Each completed research option unlocks both new modifications for your future genelines, but also unlocks more research options.

I will cover Design Actions and Testing Actions when they are a thing you can do.
could we sacrifice the design and testing actions for more research actions? if they represent time spent working isn't it odd to just lose them if we don't design or test anything? or does this represent moving into a new building/setting up all the equipment?

Also @Oshha, are these votes by plan or by line?

You forgot the X's in your votes, they don't count at the moment.

It probably represents us having a research team, a design team and a testing team. The latter two would not suddenly become able to do the former just by being given more time off.
