How well would the Seven Kingdoms (ASoIaF/GoT) hold up against the Empire? I think they might be on equal footing in terms of the skill of the individual soldier, but not in terms of number. The Empire can shit out thousands of soldiers and then some, but the Seven Kingdoms have separate armies, I think.

Problem. Dragons
 
So, has anyone written a story where the JSDF tries to invade the Old World from Warhammer? I've seen one fic where it's the Empire vs Falmart, but I haven't seen japan vs warhammer.

Guess I should add it to my list of fics I should write if I get the time then.

What do you think would happen if the gate opened in Skavenblight? Would the Skaven manage to send armies on the other side, or would they backstab each other too much for them to organize anything?

okay, now that I got a computer....

The seven kingdoms? Crushed. Badly. If there are dragons. Remember, there were 3 dragons, and they managed to conquer the seven kingdoms. And the empire has several, and the kingdoms none. Also, they have actual working magic. Not the really ambiguous stuff in GoT, but real combat magic. GoT are gonna get fucked.

The empire's dragons are shitty, though. ASoIaF's dragons probably are more like the big dragon that the empire tries to avoid and it's a big deal when it gets killed.

And does the empire actually have magic? I know there are mages, but I don't remember seeing them anywhere but allied to the JSDF/in their own indepedent city.

The gate can go anywhere, right? And looking at that fic....

Why not like this? The jsdf come by, they enter the world, and its... alien.

Simply put, the magic here is a lot more common. A wisewoman can set broken bones, and has incantations to cleanse wounds of rot. A prayer and a coin, tossed into a well meant for the maiden of journeys, makes the caravan somehow go faster, the fuel last longer. The horizon is strange, and ships do not disappear in the distance.

Basically, its a flat world.

Isn't that kind of a, "this cat is not a dog" complaint? A lot of people like nationalistic wank with some power fantasy and a loli for good measure. Gate is what it is. I don't see why it should try to be something else.

I think it's probably a lot more entertaining for not trying to be a story about technological uplift and political intrigue, and I'd like to see more Gate fanfiction that tries to play with the existing characters and setting in fun ways rather than, "What if the Gate was opened into (my alternate fictional setting of choice)?"

Rory Mercury has a nice character design and seems like she would be fun to write.

The idea of a murderous chosen of the god of madness, war and slaughter following (allegedly) peace-loving people because they actually are the most effective killers in the area is a nice concept, though.

Sure, the actual story did stupid shit with it, but it does so with everything so we shouldn't hold it against the character itself.

I really want to see a story that does Rory's character concept justice. I love the idea of an immortal priestess of war and death but the source material just made her into another anime archetype character.

Problem is, She's All Hype No Substance. The only thing that will Improve her is to rewrite her Character From Scratch. Get rid of the Goth Loli for a start.
 
Well somebody write a fic were the gate appear in london? I think it wolud make more sense!
