You know before we figure we how move we probably should grow to the point where we can know were we are going.

Doing something magic doesn't guarantee that we'd gain more Notion so I'd rather just get this option done. The newest option is a bit scary with how it can result in moderate damage and affect the environment.

We wanted to wait until someone found the second major hint, though. Without that, we have a 40% chance to waste 10 turns without any result.
Your guess ("help the girl channel magic") got the first major hint and was worth a +5. I'd like to get the second one as well before committing.

As a reminder, anyone is free to use the following as part of their guess since I used up my try anyways:

BTW, @Lab_Accident, you haven't actually made a guess so far. You had several ideas, but prefaced all of them with "Still-not-a-guess" and similar.


@grubleafeater: I just noticed... you gave boni of +2, +2, and +5, so shouldn't it be a Notion+9 test? It's only a 4% difference for our success chance, but I thought it's worth asking.

Actually, I made the very first guess. Gathering magic to make magic items. Waaay off base. I am privately convinced of your latest theory, though. It's either that, or we are the Mithril Pebble of Pigslaying.

Edit: Wait. Our true nature has been revealed to me. We are a sentient magical crystal meant to help a magical girl use her powers. We must be a transformation trinket!

This is hilarious. I'm not sure how well it'll work, but I'm all for it. And hey, maybe after enough mimicry we might start to pick up language for real.

Another thought: Even if we fail at words, maybe we can learn something from vibrating the air to make noise. I'd be ecstatic if we eventually become able to make a ring/necklace/item of Silence to help Source be sneaky, or maybe something like a round throwable stone that shrieks at people as a budget flash-bang minus the flash.

Yeah, that's the idea. Not only does it serve as an immediate communication attempt, hearing the source speak seems to improve our language skills, so we can just keep playing the recording to ourselves while the Source is gone to practice our language comprehension skills, like the world's first audiobook for rocks.

Generally it's best to put each line with "-[ ] " on a separate line because they are subvotes. It looks like the vote tally is picking up your votes, but it's not combining them with the votes that have the subvote on a separate line.

Hey, if I remember right, there was this bonus for guessing our purpose.

What if were some sort of egg? Like an egg of some super magical godlike creature (like a space unicorn or cosmic dragon). Eh? Probably far off.

... I'm pretty sure that's not how "Exposure:English" works. We need new language samples to improve our non-existant understanding of English. Just replaying the same thing over and over isn't going to help, we need the girl to react to our attempts to get more exposure.

Or you need to obtain context that explains what the words need somehow. Then replaying a old audio sample might help.

This is EXTREMELY close. +10. Unfortunately I can't say anything else without fully giving it away.

Alright, I've been watching other guesses and thoughts from the rest of the players while brainstorming on my own. With this most recent hint I can't really think of anything else it might be on my own, so I'll throw my guess out there.
GUESS: Are we perhaps a dungeon-core or some such? We grow slowly but somewhat steadily, we have the capability to produce loot, and we are mobility challenged.

Not sure if someone else has already guessed for this, but I'm too lazy to go back and check :p
EDIT: Don't forget to update the sheet mate, I think we are back up to full energy after the last update instead of at 3/42
