Foundation(Worm) aka Pet Rock Quest

I don't know, spheres can roll, and are more aerodynamic when thrown.

[X]Ignore that thought. Spheres are sturdy!(+Resillience, +Chance of rolling around and hurting something)

[X]Forget the spire, just make yourself a wide flattened base. For stability.(+Notion, -Chance of falling and hurting something.)

I'd prefer to keep the potential for mobility later, so I'd keep the pedestal small.

Actually, can we stay a sphere and just create a granite ring as our pedestal? Best of both worlds!

[X] Stay a sphere, but create a separate granite ring as a pedestal to prevent rolling off the table.

@grubleafeater: Is this write-in acceptable, and would it give Notion since we found a logical solution to or problem?

Well, powers in Worm are also called shards and IIRC made of a crystalline material. Maybe we're not actually a geode, but a tiny fragment of entity-crystal? It would explain why we can use the corresponding energy...

That would make our ultimate purpose becoming a full shard, and in the short term collecting [data].

D12 looks more magical to me. That and a d20 would roll around easier with it's smaller sides.
Pentagrams are more associated with magic, so point. we could become a stellated dodecahedron, though, and that looks even more magic. I don't think the rock understands geometry yet, so we'd have to work our way up to it, but we'd be a magical star-thingy.

Guess: gathering "magic" energy and using it to make magic items.

Nope and nope. Though one of you got a TINY bit of the overall purpose right('gathering "magic" energy and using it') it's so minute that that's only worth a 1.

The other one, while in a sense not technically incredibly far off, has gotten exactly no actual elements correct. Sorry!

I mean, I guess, but then I'd have to rescind the + to Energy cap. Size is a big factor in that.

To gather magic energy, and make it usable to the population. A sort of catalyst that leads civilizations to discovering and utilizing magic.

twitches semi-violently

This was a bad idea just because of how frustrating it is to see people manage to miss the actual purpose for other plausible ones.

+2 for being insightful, giving me some ideas, and getting another element('making it usable to the population').

Guess: For the lols...Proto-Dungeon core, that while it ain't got the dungeon or monster creation, its got basic loot gen so it's a random loot spawner now.

Totally Not A Guess: Our purpose... is to perpetuate our species. No, seriously, hear me out. We have shown that we can gather magic, that we can grow using magic, and that we can extrude part of ourselves, that in turn mantain some of our properties. So eventually, it's possible that we could do the rock version of mithosis, and become two magic-gathering rocks. To multiplicate, and thus make the "magic" we are gathering acessible to as many people as possible. Beats me as to why, though.

.....I think people are perhaps missing the two biggest hints that I've dropped. That they are so blindingly obvious that one of them is almost definitely currently on your computer screen as you read this sentence, that they get disregarded.

Just like a cup on the kitchen counter that I was told to clean.

And no, that last sentence was not itself a hint, nor is this one or the one after this sentence. I'm not being THAT meta.

Your profile image? Are we to be hoarded, as dragons are wont to do? :p

That said, why would a ring-pedestal stop us from reaching the same size as without it? Would part of our growth go towards the ring instead?

Tips from one GM to another: If you want players to outright know something, you generally have to blatantly state it as WOG, and even that sometimes doesn't work. If you want players to figure something out, well... *shrug*.

Hiding in plain sight? Our core hides gems inside an inconspicuous shell of granite, after all. Maybe the rock itself is a metaphorical "hidden gem", and part of its purpose is to only be noticed by those who look?

And one thing that's special about us is that we were picked up, despite our owner neither knowing that we're magical nor about the amethyst. Combine it with "pet rock" and maybe we were meant to be a companion to someone just as special as us, and she subconsciously was drawn to us?
