Do You Feel Better?
[X] Go with Remilia and try to cheer her up.

You quickly turn and curtsy to Megane and Zest. "Good night," you say, then nod to Nanoha and Fate as well. As you dart through the door, you motion for Satsuki to stay with Sakuya; it's a bit of a shame, but once things calm down you'll be able to spend more time with her again. You look around, catch a glimpse of Remilia, and chase after her. She isn't trying to avoid anyone, she's just moving quickly, so it's easy enough to catch up to her, and her expression of irritation melts away when she turns and sees you. She waits for you to reach her, then continues walking at a slower pace. You look at the unconscious Vita. "Aw, she's cute like that, isn't she?" Your sister nods.

"A far better look than her perpetual scowl, I agree." You giggle and walk along beside her quietly, opening the door to Vita's room when you get there. She puts the girl in her bed, tucks her in, and places Graf Eisen on the bedside table, and as she starts to leave you hop behind her, clamping your arms around her and picking her up. "Flandre?" You aren't squeezing too tightly, of course, but when you float into the air and start carrying her away she does get confused.

"Come on, let's do something else!" You fly through the mansion, looking for a good room to hold your sister in. Remilia wiggles a bit, but not in an attempt to get you to let her go.

"Sakuyaa~, Pache~ … he~elp." You giggle at her bland tone and hug her more tightly - wait, you're supposed to be cheering her up! You cluck your tongue and shake her a little as you send your clones out to an auxiliary kitchen to make something sweet.

"Sassy sister! No notifying non-'nvolved 'ndividuals!" She chuckles and shakes her head, and a few minutes later you set her down outside a third-floor corner lounge room, where you can look out on the forest in the back or the gardens. Everything in the room is rosewood or ebony, and with the red-burning candles and red magical lights, it's a soothing, comfortable place to sit and relax. Remilia gives you a curious look as you wave for her to sit next to you on the couch, but instead of saying anything you just take off her hat and start combing through her hair with your fingers. Of course, now you stumble - how to make Remilia feel better without also making her feel worse about something else, like how you feel about something. Well, to start with …. "I don't think Nanoha meant to be rude," you say, and she leans back into you, so you stop combing her hair and instead wrap your arms loosely around her.

"I'm sure she didn't, but - oh, they never had a chance to begin with, and then she goes and gets herself hurt without using what we gave her to prevent her getting hurt!" You hug her more tightly, then slide her down so you can look in her eyes.

"Maybe you can turn her into a chicken! Then Vita and Fate could take turns carrying her around, because -" Remilia laughs, interrupting you, and you grin down at her. "Oh, and we could turn Fate into a cat, and Vita into a badger." Remilia keeps laughing, and you pat her nose. "And when we take them back, we all pretend that they were like that when we got them!" After calming down a little, Remilia looks up at you with gleaming eyes.

"But what about the others? Lutecia and Illyasviel -"

"Lulu can be a bear, and Ilya can be a little white fox. Megane can be a squirrel." Remilia shakes her head.

"No, Megane should be the fox, and Illyasviel can be a squirrel. Squirrels and bats fit together better, after all, and both of you can snuggle against a bear!" You nod sagely.

"Hm, that's good, that's good. Zest should be a great wolf. Ah, what about Sakuya and Meiling? Patchouli can be a little piglet," Remilia coughs and laughs, "and she'll push books around with her little nose. Hm, Satsuki could be … would she be the same as us? Or should she be with Koakuma?" You continue to discuss who should be transformed into what - Reimu the platypus, Marisa the penguin, Akyuu the silkworm - until one of your clones slips in with some sweet drinks. Remilia's eyes widen and she shakes her finger at you.

"Flandre, you're going to spoil my appetite!" You giggle and throw yourself at her, knocking her off the couch.

"Hmph! You don't eat enough, so I'm spoiling you and making sure you have some more." Your clone floats over as Remilia sticks her tongue out at you, and when you push her cheeks in she squeals and thrashes playfully. Eventually, of course, you get most of the drinks inside her, then carefully lick what spilled off her cheek. She reaches up and hugs you tightly, her half-furled wings touching to your shoulders. Your clones still have some things they're making for you and Remilia, so you can't exactly go to sleep just yet ….

A piano/violin duet would be another option... but it's pretty much nighttime, IIRC.

I think that both sisters really want a fun challenge at this point, and seeing what Flan's learned on the out and about would probably be great fun for her sister.
Besides, I'm sure the mages would appreciate being able to watch the two actually putting in effort without being on the receiving end.

Flandre's been a good girl for awhile. She should get to have fun too!

Show them a TRUE Danmaku battle. We can integrate everything we've learned on our journey, and absolutely NOT hold back an inch (because that's what the Danmaku Rules/Barrier are for)

I honestly want to see MAX FLAN operating at full power; we don't get to do that when we are wandering around civilized places.

"… Hey, you're bored, right?" Remilia blinks, seemingly confused by the change in topic, and her eyes widen as you lean back and pull her upright.

"Why, Flandre - are you proposing?" You giggle and nod as she smiles.

"Yep!" You hop back and pull her to her feet. "We can go all-out against each other, after all." She nods slowly.
"My, my, when was the last time? Well, let's go to the basement, then." You frown.

"The basement? Why not outside?" She taps your lips gently.

"And wake the sleepers? Or keep awake anyone trying to sleep? Tsk, tsk. Besides, we wouldn't want to create a spectacle for someone to worry Reimu over, now would we?" You clap your hands and nod.

"Oh, yes! Lulu and Ilya need their sleep, and they'd probably worry if they woke up to us fighting without knowing what's going on." Remilia smiles and holds out her arms for a hug. Of course, if they were going to wake up, they probably would have done so when Vita slammed her hammer into the ground right outside the mansion.

"Shall we?" You grin and bounce forward, and after a moment the embrace vanishes as the two of you dissolve into a swarm of bats, and you let your sister whisk you away through the mansion. You also take a moment to sever your link with your clones - after all, part of the reason for doing this is to give them more time to work, so using them against Remilia would defeat some of the purpose. Besides, this is to see how you can do. If you can come close by yourself, that's good enough! All too soon your body is reforming as the bats reach the library. Sakuya appears in front of you, looking almost worried.

"Milady? Is something wrong?" But Remilia just waves her off.

"No, no, everything's fine. Flandre and I are just going to show off a bit." Sakuya bows, relieved, and steps back before vanishing. Remilia turns to you, two goblets in hand. "A toast, my sister." You touch your goblet to hers, meet her eyes, and smile.

"Let's have fun!" She grins back and nods her head, then you both take a step back and start to drink. You close your eyes as the rich liquid flows down your throat, and part of you wonders what creature this blood came from. It is so very delicious … but the cup only holds so much, and when it's gone you slowly lower it, matching Remilia's moves - although you can't help but notice the trails of blood from the corners of her mouth. Even drinking a toast, she's so messy - but that's part of what makes her your wonderful sister, isn't it? You toss the goblet behind you as you rush forward, and Remilia mirrors your movement, except she doesn't take her spear out to block Laevateinn swinging against her left side. Instead, bounces up and catches the strike with her foot, using it to launch herself off the bookshelf and into the air above. Magic circles form around her as you leap into flight as well.

The rich, fresh, hot blood pours energy into you, and you hurtle toward your sister, abruptly switching from a swing to a thrust at the last moment - but Remilia is faster, flipping over the original arc and your new thrust and slapping down at you. Your wings catch her enhanced claw, pierce its wrist and palm, but you're unable to blunt her attack entirely, and even catching it on your shoulder sends you spiraling down to the shelves below. You arrest your fall and spin back, igniting Laevateinn as you wrench it back around, and a broad mass slams into you before erupting into a flurry of clawing strikes. Your wings and free hand dart back, and you kick out, knocking Remilia back. As blasts from the magic circles begin falling around you, you throw yourself up and spray danmaku toward your sister. You unleash Laevateinn's flames once again as you come level to the magic circles, then whirl and slam your precious gift down.

Remilia catches it on her wing-sheathed forearms, then flings arms and wings wide to break your positioning and kicks up, catching you with a blast of power that you knocks you higher. You propel yourself even farther, danmaku flying wildly down to reduce Remilia's available paths, and fling yourself down when she takes that path. She catches your stomping foot on her wing, and you whirl around each other for almost a second before mutually disengaging. You grin as you look up at your sister, and as she gathers power into her hand you dash down into the shelves, zigzagging through the aisles - and the gleaming spear of energy punches through the shelves behind you. Three more spears lance through the shelves and you stick your tongue out in the general direction of your sister; of course she would stay in the mid- and long-range brackets, where she has the advantage. Well, it's not like you expected any different. You transform and turn invisible, then launch yourself above the shelves. Now that she can't sense you, Remilia isn't attacking anymore, and you loop around for a shallow dive toward her. You won't have much time, of course ….

You change back into your normal form as she bursts into motion, and you manage to catch her leg with Laevateinn's flames. Flying backward, she manages to deflect your next two strikes, and after descending into the shelves she starts outpacing you, so you let Laevateinn's flames sweep through the shelves before flying up over them. On second thought, Remilia was right about one thing about fighting down here - you're much less likely to start a forest fire this way. Remilia shoots out of the smoke and launches a pack of large danmaku orbs at you; you slip through them and send out a hail of smaller shot toward her, as much screening your advance from her ranged attacks as actually trying to harm her with them. Instead of dodging your strike, her right arm ripples with power and whips forward to intercept Laevateinn, and you somersault over her, flinging danmaku as you turn and lashing out with Laevateinn's flames. Remilia darts away, however, and if she's shaking her hand in pain that doesn't stop her from setting up barriers against your danmaku. Then lances of red energy shoot up from the ground, forcing you to back away from your sister, and you watch her grin as she summons up another Heartbreak spear - then you bat it aside with Laevateinn before hurtling forward. If she's surprised at all, she recovers quickly, catching Laevateinn above her head with both hands. Your wings dart forward, only to be blocked by her wings, and you kick up and reach forward with your free hand. You catch the tip of her wing and yank it back, rolling with her and flaring your aura against hers before hurling her down into the shelves. She rolls to her feet even as she keeps sliding away from your follow-up charge, so you unleash its flames once more as you chase after her.

She charges through the flames, accepting a pair of strikes from your wings as well as she hurtles past you, the air breaking apart as she runs away, and you turn to give chase - and barely keep yourself from being knocked away as she reverses direction and slams into you. You start to grapple, but her body breaks apart into bats to retreat, and you scowl before turning invisible. When her swarm reconvenes, you hurtle toward it, smashing through her barriers with Laevateinn, ignoring the half-dozen miniature spears that launch toward you. She deflects your attack, but you still slam into her, carry her down to the shelves in your range - and when she breaks apart this time, you flare your aura to burn away some of her bats before turning invisible again to wait for her to reappear. When she does, you shower her with danmaku from long-range circling quickly to keep her guessing - but when you do start your charge, you're immediately arrested by glowing red chains that cross your chest and loop over your shoulders before meeting at your stomach. Remilia smiles and curtsies, then begins drawing in power to create her great throwing spear. You wonder for a moment if you should bother trying to escape, but she wouldn't use that unless she was sure she'd have a chance to use it. As she changes her hold from a forward to an overhead grip and prepares to throw, you hold Laevateinn in front of you and brace it first with your free arm and then with your wings. Of course, positioning is important, too, because Remilia never actually aims for the heart with this spear ….

You don't actually see the spear hurtle toward you, but when it bursts the chains and sends you crashing into the shelves, you're only very badly charred, with one wing snapped in half and your arms feeling rather pained. If you hadn't managed to block it, you'd be missing an arm at least, and probably be unconscious. And when you hurtle out of the wrack of the shelves you smashed through, Remilia looks completely surprised. At least, she does for the moment it takes you to get halfway to her. After that, she grins and that's a big bullet -!

"Flandre, it's time to wake up." Your eyes blink open to meet your sister's, and after a moment you stick your tongue out at her.

"I almost had you." She laughs happily and shakes her head, then leans down to kiss your forehead. You flap your arms once, to make sure they're healed, then wrap them around your sister, and you giggle when she grunts at the pressure. Then her arms wrap around your head, and she holds you close for a moment.

Then your clones arrive.

"Well, let's find a reasonably intact piece of wood to use as a table and see what your little darlings have brought us," Remilia says after you scowl menacingly at your platter-bearing duplicates, and after a short bit of searching you have a small wreck of a table and two shoddy stools to sit on, all propped up on books, and your clones gingerly set their trays on the table. Candied lozenges, flavored gelatin, tea, dumplings, and little cookies and pastries - all of them with liberal applications of blood - greet you, and you look at your clones suspiciously. Some of these should have taken longer than this to make …. "Ooh, delicious! Flandre, try it!" She motions at the cookie in her mouth, and lean over to bite into the half that she's leaving you. You chew it and nod appreciatively.

"It is good." Remilia gulps the rest of her half down and giggles.

"We should do this more often, I think." Now you laugh.

"Wouldn't Patchouli get upset about us breaking her shelves all the time?" Remilia blinks and looks around, as if only just now realizing where you are, and stares at you for a moment before shrugging.

"I'm sure it's time to reorganize the books, anyway. And since she has more helpers, now, it'll be easier!" You look at each other, then break into mutual giggles at the idea that Patchouli won't be irritated by the havoc you just caused. True, the library is Remilia'a, but the books are the magician's - for the most part, anyway. Still, you two just eat and giggle. After a while, though, when the snacks are all gone, she does look around and sigh. "I suppose I should do something to help out …."

Yaaay. That was fun and refreshing. But Patche will be grumpy about this...

This way we don't worry Lulu/Illya if they try looking for us and can't find us.

You pout for a moment, then find a clear spot and sit back as you recall your clones. Remilia looks over, smiles, and kisses your forehead. "I'll try to keep it short." She skips away and takes a calming breath, her expression smoothing slightly. "Patchouli?"

"I'm here, Remilia." She doesn't bother creating an image, though - probably uninterested in the bother of it, although she could just not see it as worth it since Remilia can see her just fine if she wants to.

"Flandre and I destroyed some of your shelves, and I thought I should offer some help repairing or reorganizing them." You imagine the possible expressions on the magician's face and smile.

"… You know, Remi, somehow I managed to notice that. You've done more damage than Marisa does." Remilia laughs.

"Ah, but I am offering to assist in the reconstruction! Has that black-white ever done such a thing of her own volition?" You nod to yourself; Nanoha and Fate must still be with Patchouli, so they're probably aware of what you were up to. Hopefully they're at least a little ashamed over how lightly they took your sister.

"I don't suppose you can give me a general idea of which shelves were ruined? That would at least help me decide what needs to get done." You frown, wondering why she needs that explained to her, but Remilia simply curtsies and lists the beginning and ending titles of the codices, scrolls, and other written repositories that were affected by your fight, and after she finally finishes Patchouli sighs. "I hadn't intended to reorganize that drastically, you know. If you could set all the books aside in title order, then group the shelves individually, I would be grateful." Remilia curtsies again, then stands up with her arms spread low to her sides and her wings crossed in front of her. A magic circle appears beneath her feet, and the many thousands of written materials float into the air above the shelves, flitting and swirling. Eventually the appear to finish their jockeying for position and fly away like a column of troops, stacking themselves neatly in an open area in the library. Then she stretches and turns toward you, drawing you into her arms with a wave of her hand, and flies up. Wood takes its turn flying about, and when it stops being as dangerous as a tornado in a forest there are piles of wood and scraps where the shelves used to be - although, of course, some piles are more complete than others. A few seem to be mostly complete, and other piles contain little more than kindling, scraps, and ashes. You wrap your arms around Remilia as she relaxes, ignoring the look she gives you - you know she wasn't going to drop you or fall herself, after all - and once you have her secured, you begin flying toward your room. She resists weakly for a moment, then relaxes and hugs you gently.

"Thank you for putting up with that, Flandre," she says, and you squeeze her back.

"Patchouli is important to you, too, and we did have a small effect on the library." She giggles, and you make a shallow dive toward your room, pulling her in behind you when she hesitates. She looks around the room, noting the Soul Gems and Grief Seeds, the hat and the helmet, and the masks you offered her. You shrug off your savaged clothes and change into something that isn't burned and shredded, then pull out something for Remilia. She smiles - her own clothes aren't as bad as yours are, of course, but aren't exactly in public shape, either - and when she's dressed in one of her old nightgowns, she follows you onto the bed. You wrap your wings around her in a feeble imitation of her own protective embrace, then pull the blanket up over you. Remilia breathes out slowly, snuggles against you, and when she seems to be asleep, you let yourself fall away from the world as well.

"U-um … F-Flandre-sama? Flandre-sama?" A hand very timidly shakes your shoulder, and you open one eye to peek at your sister. Yes, she's awake, just waiting for you. "Flandre-sama, it's time to wake up." You open both eyes and see Sakuya standing on the other side of the bed, waiting patiently to wake Remilia, and you stifle a discontented sigh. Then, grudgingly, you carefully snake your wings away from your sister. Her hands slowly withdraw from around your back, and she winks at you as your servants draw you out of the bed and lead you to the bath room. You really have to stop letting Sakuya have these chances ….

"What's going on right now, Sakuya?"

"Sella and Leysritt are practicing with Meiling, and Miss Lutecia is with Lady Illyasviel in her workroom. Miss Megane is still asleep, although Sir Zest is awake and training with Agito. Miss Takamachi, Miss Testarossa, and Lady Vita are still asleep. Kyouko and Miss Tomoe attempted to visit your room and got lost; they told me they wished to speak with you privately about a certain matter. Miss Kaname and Miss Miki are still asleep. Homura is reading the Standard Terms and Agreements." Satsuki flinches at the mention of the book, but Remilia nods approvingly.

"Very industrious, that girl. I'm glad she's chosen to stay." She glances at you and you grin - of course she knows. Even if Homura didn't say anything, of course she'd know. "I suppose I should see what those two want with me, especially if they tried to go find my room - how close did they get, anyway?" Sakuya frowns and shakes her head.

"They were on the fifth floor, in the wrong wing. There was also … something near them. I never caught a solid glimpse of it, and they seemed completely unaware of its presence." Remilia's expression hardens and her wings twitch.

"I see. I shall have to deal with them first. Are Kyouko and Mami awake, still? Good, take them to a sitting room on the first floor and make sure they're comfortable. I'll see them when I'm finished." She nods quickly at you and vanishes. You look back at Sakuya.

"What are Deis, Ershin, and Illyasviel doing?" She bows.

"Deis is restoring and creating shelves for the library, while Illyasviel has gone out with Patchouli's familiar, I believe. Ershin and its occupant are ensconced within Deis's room, and I have been instructed by Patchouli that they are not to be disturbed." You nod and cross your hands behind your back as you lose yourself in thought. Ilya and Lulu are doing something sneaky, if they're locked up in Ilya's workroom, so you shouldn't disturb them - sneaky workroom goings-on can end in frazzled-hair explosions if disrupted at an opportune time, it's true, but they're much more likely to end in pain and frustration. You could see how Zest is doing, maybe get that duel set up; he probably won't decline, but you'll have to be careful about what level of force to use against him, since getting him hurt would be very bad manners. Or … since Satsuki is still awake - and she should have an hour or so before dawn - maybe you could see how far she's progressed ….
