Fate/Collapsing World

[ ] Fen Chao says he cooks, so Shirou will let him do the first meal and spend some time getting to know his roommate.
[ ] The fridge is stocked with Fen's ingredients. He said Shirou can go ahead and use them, though they probably won't be a perfect fit for Shirou's repertoire. Still, Shirou can cook tonight's dinner easily enough, and spend some time with Fen Chao.
[X] There's a cafeteria down on the first floor. Shirou prefers to cook, but it may be worth seeing how good the cafeteria is, and there should be other classmates in there to introduce himself to.

[ ] Go into the city to buy groceries. Even if he can make do off Fen's ingredients for a bit, Shirou plans to cook as many of his meals as feasible, and will need his own stock of necessities to do so. Rude as hell to operate off Fen Chao's generosity longer than the minimum necessary. It'll also help him familiarize himself with Soukai City and meet a few of the people he'll be seeing a lot of while he's here.
[X] Go introduce himself to the Resident Assistant. He won't need her help immediately, but it'll be good to meet up with one of the people responsible for the dorm, maybe she'll need a hand with something?
[ ] Prowl the dorm common rooms for fellow students. The first floor one was empty but there are two more Shirou hasn't checked yet, and it's another likely congregation point for students.
[ ] Saint Freya is built on an island, so it has swimming spots. This is summer, so a few students are likely making use of them, both for play and since swimming is a good workout. It'd be another decent opportunity to meet his fellows.

TBH, I hope we see someone that can fill Arturia's place, since she was somewhat(?) intrinsic to Shirou's story in FSN. Either way, good chapter, and I can't wait for realization to hit Shirou that one of his idols is a Taiga.

Quick warning, you don't actually have an activity vote - you've got an X on Cafeteria for dinner but there isn't one in the second section.

Despite the amount of women in his life, Shirou is just incredibly underprepared for sexuality, and is, well, a teenage male, and if you remember being one of those you can probably speak for just how bad at this you should expect him to be. :p
Taiga has spared no effort in protecting her precious primary caregiver child from the flexing talons of the world's many harpies. He can be permitted to make unsupervised contact only with those she has personally vetted to be of suitable character, motive, and moochability, like young Sakura. How dangerous or lewd could she possibly be, after all?

(more seriously, I do think it's kind of sweet that despite her myriad failings as a teacher, Taiga clearly spotted a girl who needed looking out for and a guy who needed people to look out for and pushed them together with all the subtlety of a child making two dolls kiss)

She reached into a bin hanging on the wall of the common room, and pulled out a thin notebook, handing it to him. "School rulebook, dormitory rules in the first section. It's more or less self-explanatory, but I must emphasize one of the rules - pets in the dorms are strictly forbidden."

Shirou blinked as he paged through the book a little. "That shouldn't be a problem, I don't have any pets or plans to get any." Well, there was Taiga, but whatever the actual nature of their relationship, 'pet' rules were about animals, not humans.
Somewhere Taiga finds her dignity as a human annihilated.
She becomes a housecat.

Nobody notices the difference.
"Does that actually happen?" It was common enough in anime and the like, but Shirou had honestly never heard of an actual occurrence of the box of abandoned kittens.

"... Valkyries are prone to statistical anomalies," she answered, after a long, haunted pause.

At that moment, Shirou felt a true sense of kinship with this girl. Teachers who managed to injure themselves badly enough to need carrying to the nurse's room while delivering a lecture were a statistical anomaly too. "Taking care of people can be hard when they're crazy," he commiserated.

Fu Hua looked at him, and in her eyes, he could see that she knew. She knew that he understood. They sighed in unison.
Who knew having a pet Taiga was such a bonding experience.
No wonder Rin has to practically beat you over the head to get you to notice she's a woman. You're an idiot.
Rin sort of had to give him the step by step manual in the Fate route IIRC.

I think its a combination of Kiritsugu dying before the Talk was a thing, and that with his dream to be a Hero he probably dismissed romance as something he wasn't going to be able to responsibly participate in, since odds are good that he'd be either frequently absent, or that he'd die doing the right thing.

It's probably best to try and spend time with the room mate first, smooth over any tensions, let him cook and see what's up. Also, introducing yourself to the Resident Assistant is probably for the best, if Valkyrie statistical anomalies and troubles are to be believed, it would make any problems easier to handle later. Also Jeanne and Jeanne Alter, you can't put that there and expect me not to vote for it :V

I'm liking things so far, but is where somewhere I can go to learn more about the Honkai side of things?

Mangadex has a few of the officially translated Honkai mangas which cover the 2nd Impact and some of the canon game but mostly it fills in what the game doesn't bother to. Frankly, if you want to get the whole picture, the material is scattered all over the place between the game, VNs, and side stories.

Thinking about that, would that mean we see Sieg/Siegfried? if not, does that mean we can somewhat pair Shirou with either?

A How To Guide to Overdoing It may be a useful pamphlet for them

"And sorry for just sort of tossing it out and rushing off. I didn't really end up having time to meet up again for a more elaborate goodbye," Shirou added. Come to think of it, had he even actually said goodbye, rather than just implied it by talking about his intent to immediately leave? "I can't really improve it much at this point, but still, sorry, I didn't deliver it that delicately."

Eventually, words came to her. "... Shirou no baaaaaaaka." The call terminated with a click.
Kiana pls, how did you become a weeb so fast?

"I understand." He probably wouldn't be doing much part-time work. He was, frankly, a spartan existence. He just did not spend much to begin with.
This is asking for Kiana to raid our bank account indirectly isn't it? :V

Fu Hua smiled faintly. "There is, of course, no rush. If you have any questions about such things, Laeticia is trained to handle them. If you prefer familiarity, I can do so. She's in a different class, so you will know me better than her before too long." At the look on his face at the idea of asking pretty girls about sex, her smile widened just a bit. "If you'd prefer someone of the same gender, pick a male teacher you feel comfortable with."
A shame our history teacher is not the one who's giving us The Talk. Imagine the possibilities :p.

Kaslana's have a genetic predisposition to loving Japanese things. Actually - yeah, of all the Kaslana's that have appeared on screen, so to speak, only Siegfried didn't fall in love with a Japanese woman. (I guess Kallen's dad as well, but he doesn't really appear that much.)

This is asking for Kiana to raid our bank account indirectly isn't it? :V

Theresa is busy misappropriating school funds for her own use, Himeko is using all her money to help forget her own impending mortality, Bronya's a Siberian orphan, and Mei... actually may have a decent chunk of change from whatever was left over of ME corp, after Ryoma was arrested, but she might also not. Yeah, Shirou is the best choice.

Hmm, thinking on it, Mei and Shirou are going to end up fighting over Kiana's tastebuds aren't they?

(Also, fun fact - Mei is 172cm tall, the same height as Rider, and 3cm taller than Shirou.)

[X] Fen Chao says he cooks, so Shirou will let him do the first meal and spend some time getting to know his roommate.

Scope out the enemy and the terrain.

5 cm taller, assuming this Shirou is 17 and was a 2nd year in Homurahara when he transferred to St. Freya. Shirou is 167 cm tall.

I'm enjoying this quest despite not having any real knowledge on the Honkai side.

Since Rin has that special set of power armor, will we possibly see Luvia also having similar PA as well?

As for this Ruan Fen Chao, where can I find an image of him?

Given Luvia is from Europe, my suspicion would be that she's a Valkyrie - possibly branching off from one of the three major families? - rather than Rin's heavily implied affiliation with Anti-Entropy.

I have no clue. He's not from HI3, and I'm fairly sure he's not from Fate either.

A housetiger.

Who knew having a pet Taiga was such a bonding experience.

She hasn't had Kiana yet but Kiana is not unprecedented in her life.

Rin sort of had to give him the step by step manual in the Fate route IIRC.

That was less 'whar do i put ponos?' and more 'i'm being pursued and about a meter away from getting murdered by a giant gray greek beef machine, and the only way to survive is by having sex but it's kinda hard to get in the mood in this circumstance'.

I think its a combination of Kiritsugu dying before the Talk was a thing, and that with his dream to be a Hero he probably dismissed romance as something he wasn't going to be able to responsibly participate in, since odds are good that he'd be either frequently absent, or that he'd die doing the right thing.

Also his utterly disastrous level of self-regard. When you literally feel your own life literally does not matter, it's kinda hard to conceptualize 'hey, someone else thinks I matter, what a weirdo'.

Mangadex has a few of the officially translated Honkai mangas which cover the 2nd Impact and some of the canon game but mostly it fills in what the game doesn't bother to. Frankly, if you want to get the whole picture, the material is scattered all over the place between the game, VNs, and side stories.

Also over previous semirelated canons whose present canonicity is intensely dubious. The Third Impact finer details flat-out do not exist in Honkai Impact material, the manga hits the ground running towards the end of that series of events. Anything I actually know about the Third Impact's details comes from flashback sequence information synthesis, Guns Girl Z, and guesswork as to what's maybe still canon, definitely still canon, etc. It may exist but not in English it don't.

Thinking about that, would that mean we see Sieg/Siegfried? if not, does that mean we can somewhat pair Shirou with either?

People based on them may exist, but I'm not spoiling myself intensely to say that neither twin presently has a love interest, and that canon relationships are not written in stone - if it hasn't happened yet, it's not destined to happen.

Kiana pls, how did you become a weeb so fast?

Talent.

This is asking for Kiana to raid our bank account indirectly isn't it? :V

At least she doesn't actually play Honkai Impact and need a sugar daddy to whale.

A shame our history teacher is not the one who's giving us The Talk. Imagine the possibilities :p.

Well, he is a male teacher so Shirou can always go to him with questions.

Mei... actually may have a decent chunk of change from whatever was left over of ME corp, after Ryoma was arrested, but she might also not.

Nah, ME Corp is mostly intact, but is controlled by its board of directors. (Hasn't actually happened yet, the Raidening happens on Nov 16 and it's still late August)

Namely, Cocolia.

I don't know the finer details of ME Corp (see the previous canon thing above), but Ryouma seems to actually be an AE enforcer himself, so it's plausible his embezzlement case was literally Cocolia making a play to seize her own control over his assets - right now she may only be in control of AE Yakutia rather than like literally everything east of Kazakhstan.

Also, Raiden Ryouma wasn't actually arrested. He's literally missing, he went on the lam. He may have been arrested but e is not presently in custody.

Hmm, thinking on it, Mei and Shirou are going to end up fighting over Kiana's tastebuds aren't they?

Kiana: [Naughty giggle]

(Also, fun fact - Mei is 172cm tall, the same height as Rider, and 3cm taller than Shirou.)

Mei is amazingly tall compared to everyone else - she's literally the tallest actually living member of the cast (Sakura is 192cm but that's counting her ears so her proper height is probably a bit south of there, and Kallen was actually pretty tall at 170). I honestly expected Himeko to be pretty tall and she is... for a Japanese woman. Exact same height as Shirou at 167cm. (Rita's a centimeter taller and takes the prize for living second-tallest, it's that powerful English DNA)

On the other side, Fu Hua is the shortest cast member aside from the midgets - the Orphanage Team + Theresa are all south of 150cm, but Fu Hua, at 162, is the shortest outside that crowd (Kiana is one cm taller).

But for how long will she have that height superiority? Cause we know Shirou can grow tall.

Do we? Are we entirely sure that Archer grew naturally, and that his deal with the Counter Force wasn't for some goddamn height?

(I dunno when he's gonna hit his growth spurt but it'll at least most likely start at 18 or older)

Since Rin has that special set of power armor, will we possibly see Luvia also having similar PA as well?

Probably not. Both the Edelfelt and the Tohsaka are old Schicksal families, but the Edelfelt are a Valkyrie lineage while the Tohsaka are researchers. The exoskeleton is honestly a pretty big expense, but the purpose of it is to let someone momentarily fight on a Valkyrie level without having to actually become a Valkyrie and sustain honkai poisoning and a shortened lifespan. (Neither family has stigmata but there are families outside those main ones that are basically Schicksal-associated) Rin acquired it because she wanted that ability and didn't want the Valkyrie risks or to actually sign up with Schicksal, and since she's the last living member of her family it's kinda her responsibility to stay alive and focus on its research and produce an heir.

In Fate canon, the Edelfelts are mercenaries, so here they're semifrequently a Valkyrie family. Luvia had less reasons not to sign up, so she... did. And is presently a B-rank Valkyrie in Schicksal Central or Schicksal EU.

As for this Ruan Fen Chao, where can I find an image of him?

He's more or less an OC, but he's semi-based on an outside source. Link to faceclaim here.

We see at the age of 19 in the epilogue of ufotable UBW that he's already quite a bit taller than Rin and she apparently grew some as well. Pretty sure his height is all natural. :D

I mean in canon Kotomine grew 10 cm between Zero & Stay Night. And no, Nasu doesn't know how that happened either. :D
and since she's the last living member of her family it's kinda her responsibility to stay alive and focus on its research and produce an heir.
So...what is Sakura then here? I'm hoping the situation here with the Matou may, hopefully, be less awful than Fate canon?
Probably not. Both the Edelfelt and the Tohsaka are old Schicksal families, but the Edelfelt are a Valkyrie lineage while the Tohsaka are researchers. In Fate canon, one of the big things that really shows off how wealthy the Edelfelts are, and how much the Tohsaka have fallen from their economic heights (there was a small villa in Italy that the Tohsaka owned thanks to their wealth, as shown in Fate/Zero where Tokiomi was meeting Risei & Kirei), is the sheer amount of jewels that Luvia can spam while Rin has to scrimp and save despite being wealthy herself (she has quite the income from patents made by her family but it still can't compare to the amount of wealth the Edelfelts have). And of course little things like how Luvia can casually buy a small mansion or buy that department store (in Case Files) and so on.

So here what is the main indication the Edelfelts are so much wealthier than the Tohsaka here are?

And hmm would Luvia here show interest in Shirou like in Fate canon a lot?
