Awakening traumatic memories huh. That is a stupendously dangerous thing to be able to do in this world.

Forcing Homu to witch would be a quick if excessively dirty way to end the timeloops though. The only step after would be to off Madoka so she would never awaken as Gretchen.

[X] Prioritize searching for a place to use a as a base of operations.

Youmu and Satori have basically no experience with this, I look forward to seeing them cobble together a hobo hut.

Witching her might be dangerous. Remember, it's possible she's built up potential over the loops, just like Madoka. She just can't access it because she's already made her wish. She could gain a lot of power that way.

It'd be better just to shatter her soul gem. If we could get Youmu to agree she's way faster then Homura and experienced with time stopping abilities. It's a dirty way, and we'd have to figure out exactly what's going on first before committing to such an action, but it's there.

I think having either of our current 2hus just kill someone would be wildly out of character right now, they probably wouldn't agree. If Youmu can sense souls within the gems via being a half phantom or Satori observes that their thoughts are coming out of the rock rather than their brain, they would likely refuse to damage it considering their combat styles are both nonlethal. The reason why I said witch instead of having Youmu do it is because it could easily happen before they even know about the witchbomb, considering Homura might be immediately hostile upon discovering a new factor in the loops.

Loop 1 - Day 1 - 2
//Sorry for the delay. Something came up on my end that killed my will to write for several days.

[x] Prioritize searching for a place to use a as a base of operations.
-------------
"I think we should prioritize finding a place to use as our base of operations." you say, "That way we would have a private place to plan, sleep, and express ourselves freely. Not to mention, it would be a good place to regroup if we got separated for any reason."

"Sounds like a plan." Youmu nods, [Wait... What if we got lost and couldn't find it again? Wouldn't that--]

"--defeat the purpose of that last part?" you finish, causing Youmu to sigh, "Well, we can focus on learning the surrounding area later, preferably after we find a place to settle down."

"That seems fair enough..." she agrees, "So uh... after you?"

Accepting Youmu's invitation to lead, you close the coat to fully obscure your Third Eye and begin heading towards the entrance of the alleyway. The thickness of the fabric quickly muffles your ability to sense thought, to the point where you doubt you'd be able to read anyone unless they were standing directly in front of you in a blatant violation of personal space as long as you obscure it like this. Mentally noting that down as another reason to find a better disguise as soon as you can, you press onward, stealing a glance back at Youmu to see her phantom half phase into the ground behind her.

You certainly attract some strange looks as the two of you exit the alley. While it's tempting to open your coat just enough to reveal your eye in order to see what exactly they're thinking of you, you refrain from doing so as you continue on. As you walk, a little boy eventually points at you, asking what you're wearing before his mother quickly shepherds him away, giving you a quick apology as she does so. You additionally catch a few whispers here and there of people wondering if there was a "convention" or something going on, or wondering what kind of "cosplay" or "LARP" the two of you are doing. Not that you understand what they're talking about at all.

Aside from the reactions of passersby, you note the sheer size of the city you've ended up in. The buildings themselves absolutely dwarf anything in Former Hell, and judging by the awe on Youmu's face, likely anything on the surface as well. The colorful metal carriages moving on the darker part of the pathway are interesting as well, moving at surprisingly quick speeds for something the size of a wagon, though you're honestly not sure what's causing them to move, as Yakumo did mention that magic was rather uncommon in this world. While you won't reject the possibility that these are the products of the few magic-capable beings that live here, you believe it's more likely that something is powering them inside. If Utsuho were here, you'd imagine that she'd probably try to make one of her own with nuclear power...

Soon, you reach an intersection of two roads, and a peculiar display of lights that seem to regulate the flow of vehicles through the junction. Of course, it doesn't seem that all of the vehicles are abiding by the regulation, as within moments one of them ends up going through while their light is red, causing one of the other vehicles in the crossing traffic to stop, make a loud noise, and continue shortly after its occupant takes a moment to spout some profanity. As this happens, you glance down each pathway, contemplating which one to take. It seems that the road you're currently on continues for quite a long time, but you note that the buildings start to get smaller in that direction. On the other hand, crossing the road and going left seems to lead to a bridge crossing a river a few intersections down, and across that is a dirtier looking region full of towers and structures that seem to spew steam and smoke, as well as a large tower of unknown function. The righthand path, on the other hand, seems to head deeper into this part of the city.

"So uh... which way do we go?" Youmu asks shortly after you stop, also glancing in each direction.

[] Keep going forward, towards the smaller buildings.
[] Go left, towards the area with the smoke towers.
[] Go right, deeper into this part of the city.

So residential, industrial, or the urban center.

I say nay to residential, it's only going to have a few empty homes, if any at all, and they'll checked quickly if anyone spots us going in. Industrial is better, there should be a few quiet spots nobody will look into, but it'll be a good ways away from any MGs. Not great for recon. Downtown is the middle ground.

[X] Go right, deeper into this part of the city.

A compromise on convince.

Loop 1 - Day 1 - 3
[X] Go right, deeper into this part of the city.
------------------------
"I think we should head right." you say, "It might be useful to stay within this part of the city, considering the population density."

"Alright..." Youmu nods, glancing at the flowing traffic as you turn the corner.

"How are you holding up, by the way?" you question when there's less people around, "Doing you-know-what causes you some discomfort, does it not?"

"It does," she nods, "but it isn't unbearable yet..."

"I suppose that's good. Let me know if things become too intolerable, by the way. I wouldn't mind briefly pulling aside for a break, assuming we can be discreet about it."

"I'll keep that in mind."

As you continue, briefly stopping to cross a few roads in your path, you eventually come across what you assume to be some kind of market district, with a large plaza leading into some kind of indoor complex. A large sign above the entrance reads "Mitakihara Central Mall".

Another thing you notice is that there seems to be a section of the building that is clearly unfinished, but visible from the street. There doesn't seem to be any active work being done from what you can tell, which means it could be a possible place to set up a base of operations. Of course, if whatever labor force working on it decides to return, it might be a problem...

Nonetheless, even as a temporary location, it could still be viable, especially since it provides convenient access to a source of supplies. Therefore, you decide to keep it in mind for now and keep moving.

A short distance from the "mall" is a small canopy sitting over a few benches. A large vehicle, about three times as long as the metal carriages, soon pulls up to the canopy and opens its doors, prompting a small crowd gathered at it to funnel inside. A transport of some kind, it seems... Perhaps you should look into it later, as it would mean a good way to get around this city faster in a manner that doesn't involve flight.

As you continue down the same road, you eventually notice what appears to be an abandoned storefront of some kind at the base of one of the taller buildings. The doors and windows are boarded up, and a sign is hung in front of the main door that reads "OUT OF BUSINESS".

You allow yourself to smile a bit at this, "Hmm... promising... What do you think, Miss Konpaku?"

"Er... Just Youmu would be fine." she fidgets, "And... I dunno, it looks kinda..." she shifts nervously, "you know... ...creepy."

"...Creepy?" you arc an eyebrow.

"I-I mean.... what if it's... y-you know... haunted."

You give her an incredulous look, "You're half phantom, and you're scared about a place being haunted..."

"I'm not scared!" she denies, "J-Just being... you know... cautious... ehe..."

You level a long, skeptical stare at her, slowly reaching for the edge of the coat to at least let your third eye have a peek at whatever odd logic going on inside her head before she suddenly cuts you off.

"L-Look. Let's just keep going... There's sure to be another place, right?"

Rolling all three of your eyes, you reluctantly decide to continue, putting the abandoned storefront into your list of potential locations as you move forward. Eventually, after about thirty minutes of walking, you reach the base of an incredibly tall building. A sign above its main entrance reads "Mitakihara General Hospital". Considering what you've seen from the market district's name, you assume Mitakihara might be the name of the city, though you may need to confirm that later...

Nonetheless, you glance around, searching for potential places to set up. As you look, you swear you see a small flash of white out of the corner of your eye near an alleyway, but upon closer inspection you see nothing there. Youmu quickly points out that there's another, much cleaner vacant storefront that says "For Lease", meaning it's currently unoccupied. Unfortunately, the entire front of the property seems to be a glass window. Plus there's also the concern about somebody actually wanting to inspect and acquire the property as well. You personally aren't a fan of it, but it's an option...

Anyway, you could continue looking at this point, but you also feel you've traveled far enough. You have three options to choose from at the moment, each with their own negatives and positives.

[] Take the vacant storefront. It's not ideal, but it's right here and close to whatever this ridiculously tall hospital building is.
[] Backtrack to the abandoned storefront. Despite Youmu being... Youmu... you feel it's a promising option. It's also roughly equidistant from both major landmarks you've come across so far.
[] Backtrack to the mall and set up in the area under construction. It might not last, but while it does it would give you convenient access to supplies.
[] Keep looking, perhaps there's still somewhere better.

Going through options:
The vacant storefront seems to be the best location. Close to the mall which means supplies. But since this isnt america with its infinite 'eh we'll eventually get around to it' mentality, chances are a construction crew will show up sooner rather than later. Could keep an eye on it because could come in handy for another loop.

Storefront would be the best but it give youmu the creeps, so that's probably out.

Big glass windows arent really great, and covering it up would just wind up drawing more attention.

Given that none of them seem feasible...

[X] Keep looking, perhaps there's still somewhere better.

[X] Backtrack to the abandoned storefront. Despite Youmu being... Youmu... you feel it's a promising option. It's also roughly equidistant from both major landmarks you've come across so far.

Best location and good for lightly bullying Youmu. By word of Zun himself, Youmu is for bully, so we really have no choice here.

Its ideal other than looking creepy and we're youkai and literally half ghost.
It'd be fine.
"How are you holding up, by the way?" you question when there's less people around, "Doing you-know-what causes you some discomfort, does it not?"

If anyone overheard that it'd be very awkward.
