Fallout: The Cascadian Wastes

On a side note I am just going to tell you guys straight up what one of the things I am going to build towards is, namely I want to get my handles of the USS Iowa.

Hah, good luck keeping that massive beast fed in a post-apocalyptic world like Fallouts...Well I mean...I might be able to give her a refit to use a Fission generator if you can get her to the dry dock. I mean it would be difficult but, it could happen.

Oh I am well aware that it will be a stupidly hard thing to actually accomplish, I mean she is probably crawling with some kind of nasty things that I will need to clear out and I will have to take control of the area around her to even get started. Not to mention all the tech and material I will need to salvage...but yeah I want to get my hands on her, because if I can do that and get her up an running then I will have the best possible center for my fleet and nation.

I will probably also be hunting for any offshore Oil platforms and the like that still survive since those I can turn into fixed points for my nation.

Oh, your kinda screwed unless she's been just floating around the ocean for the past 200 years then she's sitting in the middle of the LA rad hole that is in the middle of NCR terf. You're going to need to get epically lucky to find Her.

Again I know, the sheer amount of wheeling and dealing I am going to have to do in order to make this work is going to be the product of many in game years and is going to be one of my IC goals for a good chunk of the game. Basically getting my hands on a proper battleship is my end goal, which admittedly doesn't have to be the Iowa but she is my ideal candidate.

hey, for a slightly more reachable short-term goal you can try for the USS Turner Joy. She's just a destroyer but, she might be a bit easier to find and refit.

Yeah she seems like a good first step, relatively speaking. Having something like her would be a very useful ship to have in my quest, at the very least she would allow me to engage is negotiations with various groups from a more equal standing or even a position of strength.

Now I just need to start some trading between the various ports up and down the west coast. After all while caravans are all well and good nothing beats ocean travel when it comes to bulk hauling. In fact I predict the Crimson Caravan company will hate me due to that.

Hey, whatever happens good luck and hope you get in the game.

That was my plan....

Actually now that I think about it, that destroyer is right next to the naval base, which means that destroyer would have been wrecked as well by nuclear fire....

Thing I'm Claiming: If it's open, the settlement spot near Eugene
Brief Background: After the war, survivors from suburban and urban cities, both young and old, fled as hostilities gained and food lessened. Among them were One major character A chinese spy named Chen "Al" Wong. Cheng gathered his fellow chinese spies and together they began to gain followers in Als new Religion, "Fundamentalism", A mix of christianity, Chinese Traditional Faiths, and a caste system. Cheng used this to form a small settlement called "Taiyang" (Or sun) and form what he called the "assembly" or a legislature of ten persons who was suppose to be elected but is now handed down from father to son, (And in some cases, daughter) The assembly has, after the passing of Xing Lee, elected a new "Fuqin" to lead the city.
Special Equipment: A radio tower (To spread the word of fundamentalism) A large supply of chinese assault rifles and bullets, A wall around the city, and farms filled with Tato, Mutfruit, and Corn
Edit: and some brahim please, if i get in in the first place.

Claim: Whidbey Island, Port Townsend
Background: Whidbey Island, almost halfway between Seattle and Victoria, was between a rock and a hard place. As if the nuclear fire from Seattle and Victoria couldn't end life here, Everett was obliterated and even a nuke hit Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. To say life survived would be shocking. To say life thrived would be even stranger. But, through luck and several events, the island survived. FIrst, the shockblast from Victoria was in turn blasted by the sea, for in the Strait of Juan de Fuca weather is king. Then, the southern half of the island, made up of forests and cliffs, managed to spare the rest from it's fate, shielding it from Everett and Seattle. And, through a stroke of good luck (And perhaps bad Chinese planning) the bomb dropped on Naval Air Station Whidbey Island was aimed to offline the station, not to kill civilians, and in their neglect the airfield and outpost at Coupeville Nolf wasn't targeted. The survivors, a mix of civilians, fisherman who had been out at sea, and military personal in their bunkers and shelters came out to find trees and houses knocked down, but one thing stood tall, the concrete Fort Casey. Now the Gatekeepers hold tolls, using salvaged artillery at Fort Casey and Fort Worden to control the Gate, the only safe exit from the Sound.
Special Equipment: Military grade weapons, 2 10in salvaged artillery pieces, several smaller mortars, several disabled/destroyed vertibirds, 2 forts/settlements, 2 bunkers, and a variety of small canoes, some old power armor frames, sailing ships and other fishing craft.
Notes: To make this fair, my economy and manpower would be terrible, and I am willing to give up the power armor if needed.

I think you might be asking for a bit too much, just the military weapons and artillery alone is enough for special equipment.

So no boats? Or are we going with the airfield getting bombed as well? Not gonna lie, I meant to just be a toll booth, but the more I searched in the area the more military bases I found.

Just work with the idea that while there are military bases in the area, you don't have access to them just yet due to things like Pre-War security systems, raiders and whatever else might be squatting there.

So basically, the Naval Station is irradiated and filled with Ghouls, and perhaps the Enclave holds the airstrip?

Or some nasty things like Raiders, Mirelurks, Pre-war robots and Deathclaws infest it and make it very difficult to get in. Hell you could even throw in a lot of radiation from the nuclear power plants of the aircraft not getting any maintenance for god knows how many years.

I doubt radiation would come from lack of aircraft maintenance, as al their reactors probably exploded! :lol

Thing I'm Claiming: Titan Missile base outside Odessa Washington http://www.themilitarystandard.com/missile/titan1/silo/568-a.php
Settlement Name: Saturnalia
Brief Background: Following the war, the missile base was miraculously unscathed, mostly due to having been "temporarily" decommissioned about a decade prior to the war due to cutbacks and some issues with flooding. The base had a skeleton crew to attempt to maintain it but Chinese intelligence knew full well it was not a functioning base as of the war, and missiles were reserved for more high-value targets. Odessa and other communities fared better than more major population centers as they were not directly hit with any bombs, but the years following the war were still harsh. Many of the rural holdings in the area were abandoned as raiders and brigands became more common, with some finding their way to the Titan Missile Base. The skeleton crew which had remained had for many become literally so after structural instability caused some sections to become sealed off. The few who remained welcomed the newcomers, mostly since their supplies were low and they needed all the help they could get. With their help the knowledge of how to repair the base and its systems were passed down, and the sole rocket there kept there, not a missile but an old Saturn V stored in the Silo simply for lack of a better place to put it, became the focus of much of the growing communities' attention. None were sure exactly what to do with it, but over time it became a symbol of a promised future, and a pseudo-cult sprang up around it. Of course, the rocket was decades old at the time of the war, and did not have the fuel or the repairs to function even then. The growing community of Saturnalia, so named for the Rocket and the Roman God, still sees hope in the machine, and are always looking to repair it, to upgrade it, and to find a suitable source of fuel or energy to power it. Eventually, most of their focus has become centered on "breathing life" back into the "Mighty Saturn" who would carry them to a better world, far from the one the fools of the past destroyed.
Special Equipment: Working Machine shop, pre-war tools, and some weaponry, refurbished and functional undergound missile complex (no missiles) 1 Saturn V Rocket, decent repair for being 200 years old, non-functional, no fuel.
