I agree, honestly, I don't think I'll count this as a vent but I think it would be a great lead in to breaking something else. A needed piece of tech would be like, the engine you got, or your new plane. So do with that as you will, if you can figure something else out definitely tell me.
You have the same problem of it not being broken if our mechanic can just fix it the next day.

There are guns on them, but they're covered, so you'd need to rip them off and if you want them replaced you'd either need to mount them on the outside or get them expensively covered again

It's not about how easily she can replace something, or how often she has used them, it is about the intent with which the technology was bought. She took both her pistol and her shotgun with violent, self-defensive intent.
Two birds if she uses herself as a blood focus. If you could figure out something there won't like, debilitate her narratively and/or mechanically forever to encourage adding that to the plan.

It is explicitly so, and intentionally so, hence why I did add that protection against this becoming a habit. A TW is a good idea.
