[Exalted/SMT] Shard of a Broken Sun

Hm. Any increase in speed? Are there some obstacles that might get in the way if he's not changed or transformed?
Some increase in speed, no obstacles worth mentioning. [Ikuto] Am I not a cat?

Uh. That last stunt closes with a } rather than a ], I don't know that it'll be picked up properly by the tallybot.
I don't use that script, because it's an elemental manifestation of evil. I'll write my own if I ever get tired of tallying votes manually.

I suppose a ten would have been if we started out by using the Chaos Repelling Pattern.
No, if you'd done that Kagutsuchi would have noticed you from the get-go, instead of only once it was exhausted. Amu would have been safer, yes, but the rest of Japan...

How fit is Ikuto and can he lift two Amus?
He's about as strong as Amu is. Which is to say, he can lift two of her, yes.

And yet, I still have the sinking feeling that, no matter what we do, something will go horribly wrong.
Only if you miss important hints. :p

I wonder what Lucy's reaction to all of this is. You threw his plan way out of whack.

Honestly, I don't think I can write anything from his perspective. He's too inhuman.

It should be clear that, while doing so is an option, it will slow you down.
Hm. Will it slow us down more than taking two trips would? Alternatively, is there someone around who we think will save the Amu we don't if we don't dual-wield?

The only ones there are you, Fumi and Amu. In retrospect that may have been a mistake, but it's a sensitive area.

It would not slow you down more than taking two trips, no.

...you're all going to hate me after this is over and done with, I can already see it coming. :X

Eh, we'd have probably had cultist infiltrators or something if it was populated

Alright then, I'll switch to this:
[X] Bullrush, get in and out fast enough it doesn't matter.
-[X] Get your chara to scoop up her charas.
--[X] One chara in each arm go go go!
-[X] ONE AMU IN EACH ARM GO GO GO!
-[X] Yell for a doctor as you haul her
I'll leave my previous vote where it is because people have voted for it without copypasting.
...you're all going to hate me after this is over and done with, I can already see it coming. :X
...hopefully because we've been worried for nothing.

[X] Bullrush, get in and out fast enough it doesn't matter.
-[x] Top Amu. Make sure her Charas don't fall off.

Don't go for both. I know you guys like the image of Ikuto dual-wielding Amus, but it really sounds like there just isn't time for that before he gets cooked.

Though to be honest, I'm not entirely sure which Amu to go for. Might even be better to look for protection first.

Well, I can hope for one from Midori again. Or perhaps Samael. Or even Kagutsuchi!
I'll give it some thought. The story has been pretty interlude-heavy lately, and Ikuto Quest is basically a single extended interlude, but you'll get their point of view eventually. Samael would be too much of a spoiler right now, though.

Probably no updates today. Since I know your hunger for writing knows no bounds, have this instead: http://gregegan.customer.netspace.net.au/SCHILD/Connect/Connect.html

Why, no, it has no particular relevance. Of course not. What do you take me for?

I think you mentioned QGT as a level underlying both Metaguchi and Shinmaic law...

Okay, new vote for me.

[X] Bullrush, get in and out fast enough it doesn't matter.
-[X]Henshin if it'll take less time than it'll save
-[X]Make Fumi grab whichever Amu you don't and any charas you can't scoop up yourself.
-[X]Grab the one on top in the likely event that you get there first, as that will be faster. Scoop up charas as well.

Uhm, Fumi is too busy making sure that what left of the world wouldn't just die in a server crash...

Okay then, if we can't get Fumi in, then dual-wielding becomes viable again. If help arrives quickly we can unload Amus onto them.

Well, things that stand out...

Solar Animas have never been lethal. Either this is just 'feeling' with no actual physical component (aside from everyone in the room getting a tan and a rather bleached set of clothes), or there's something weird going on in the interaction.

What'll happen when we touch one of the Amus? Could they poof? It's entirely possible that Amu is existing in two bodies at once, which would explain the whole "fell on myself, turned away to sleep" and "top one isn't breathing" paradox that someone noticed earlier. OTOH that could just be dickery from what was basically a chaos zone. I wonder if Baugn has CRP also providing a perfect loom system? Oh man, maybe this is an interaction between CRP and Amu's weird nature.

Top Amu isn't breathing. Is she dead, or is she just stunned and messed up?

Bottom Amu has an Amu-pile on her. Can she even breath right now? (Okay, not as big of a problem, but a good excuse to use the term "Amu-pile" :D)

Charas landed with a grunt. A grunt implies they're at least, uh, 'lightly' unconscious, rather than completely out. Maybe we can recruit their help? Ties back into "what if X touches Amu" though. I mean, they're already touching her, but this is different! *flails*

OK. A question.

Why's it hot?
...that is a good question. It could be the dragon streams making waste heat, or it could be Amu's anima (I don't remember if it makes heat, but it doesn't surprise me). If it's Amu's anima, she's almost certainly fine, but probably won't cook us. Then again, we did turn a bunch of safeties off, and there is precedent for animas causing harm in the Terrestrial Exalted.

Crossed out my vote for the time being(Edit: reinstated it. Not that it'll change anything...); it sounds like we have a fair amount of time to panic flail around uselessly discuss and plan.

At any rate, time for some ramblings. As usual, feel free to shred these good and proper if I'm off the mark.

Normal physics/Body Amu is on the bottom, Dream physics/Mind Amu is on top and is currently tangible due to DAP; they run off of two different sets of physics and are currently de-synched. Dream Amu isn't breathing because she might not need to and isn't thinking about it, entirely possible that she's frazzled enough that automatic reflex isn't kicking in. Currently in the middle of the Seal, Seal supports and reinforces Normal physics, so maybe it's possible that it'll shove the two Amus back together on it's own if given a moment?

Currently running Charms(that I can recall): DAP on Mind Amu, IPP, CRP(? Don't know it's duration), GttMH(? See CRP).

Baughn linked a piece on the physics that underlie all of the other systems, but I'm too dense at the moment to apply it to what we know properly.

If bottom-Amu is essentially the Body without the Mind/Soul is it possible something Else is in her Body now and using it. And could Top-Amu's new body actually be a Body or is it what the guy above me is thinking (........ makes a hard name to refer to in a sentence)

Maybe she split into Hun Amu and Po Amu? That could be bad on several levels... or it could turn out just fine. Best case, Amu has two bodies that she can perceive and control equally. I do not expect the best case from this quest.

Another possibility: bottom Amu is a non-exalted clone of regular, top Amu. When physics rebooted, Amu, who as far as physics was concerned ceased to exist along with everything else, was also rebooted as the bottom Amu. However, unbeknownst to physics (due to Glorious Solar Bullshit), Amu had been able to maintain her existence separately from physics. So when physics rebooted, it "recreated" Amu as "the person on top of the seal"; meanwhile, the actual, exalted Amu, who was able to exist regardless of physics' opinion on the subject, recreated herself, landing on top of "normal" Amu. Not sure what this would mean for the Charas, though; aren't they a bit outside physics, being all magic and shit?
